Palermo vs. AC Milan @ Renzo Barbera March 19, 2011: 20:45

Palermo has struggled of late, and are currently sitting in 9th place in the table. Milan, 5 points clear of Inter Milan, are in 1st Place in the Scudetto Race after 29 Matches. Time for Milan to get their heads screwed on, and get ready to fight for this Scudetto by beating all teams outside the Top 4.

STATS? Possible LINEUPS?

We HAVE to win this game. The players must not get complacent. I think one or two quick goals will get the job done.

My lineup would be:

Abbiati; Abate, Nesta, Thiago Silva, Antonini; Gattuso, Van Bommel, Emanuelson(Merkel); Boateng; Pato, Cassano

palermo lost their last match away to genoa and now they are playing milan at home it's gonna be a tough one but i don't think we have anything to loose if the players get their acts together. ibra will not be playing, so we have to move on, the rest strikers should be able to get the job done. maybe 2 first half goals will do the magic. FORZA MILAN

AGAIN...we are expected to beat this team as was Bari at San Siro... creativity is needed... without Ibra i dont think we will play any hopefull long balls into the box... the play that led to equalizing goal against Bari was beautiful and we should not produce those plays once every 5 games but consistently thoughout every game. IMO Alegri's methods (assuming that they play to his instructions) suggest that Milan players are not technically superior to our opponents... we should be more calm and composed on the ball in and around the 18 yard box and dont rush and force passes... maybe i watch too much barcelona games... but i remember 2003-2004-2005 we were a better composed team than now... maybe we it's because we have not yet replaced Serginho and Cafu, well Abate seem to be improving, and Antonini will run to the recieve a pass but both lack the required creativity on the flanks... this lack of creativity result in players like robinho and cassano (pato) having to go out on the flanks further away from goal reducing the number of goal scoring options when the ball is played in the box to the main striker. This fact is evident when you look at the amount of second balls that the defenders win when Ibra fail to hold it up... i am no expert but this is very prominent feature of our system of play... the Tottenham second leg it is the only time we played without seven defenders and how dangerous we looked. WOW!!!
NOT A HAPPY MILAN FANAngry

no Ibra is the best news for him for many weeks, maybe his time out will give hin renewed energy to perform and his form should improve i would imagine.

I prefer not to see Antonini anymore.. so Didac Vila or Emmanuelson for sure.

I don't see any reason to play Emmanuelson ahead of Antonini, who in all fairness has been pretty decent in the past month or so. Emmanuelson adds plenty going forward, but defensively is somewhat of a risk and in all honesty I wasn't totally convinced by him at LB against Napoli when he replaced Jankulovski (another option I'd consider).

However, that isn't to say Emmanuelson shouldn't start, as he could be a useful option in midfield (his main competition being Merkel).
