I didn't expect such a big result against Real even though it is only a friendly game. Congrats to the players

A result which I don't think anyone would have predicted. I won't go into detail, but here's some stuff I thought about the match:
- Real weren't well organised or playing with any real intensity. Even in the second half, a few players tried to step up their game, but they were just poor today. - Real's performance shouldn't take away from Milan. Pippo's done a great job in recent weeks to get a really well organised unit and it showed today. Besides towards the end, when the whole side had changed, the team was really well organised and pressing in the right way. I don't think this is because this squad is particularly great, I think it's mostly down to Pippo getting this group organised to get the most from a limited squad. - Montolivo's return has transformed the game. The side was lacking a leader in midfield, he's provided it and has given a real impetus to the play. - El Shaarawy was outstanding. Two goals aside, his touches, workrate and general confidence was clear to see. His link up with Menez was also excellent. - Menez in recent weeks is showing performances of a true CF. I really wasn't expecting this one, but since the Napoli match his performances have been consistent and generally he's playing as a proper forward. - Diego Lopez was terrible. I don't really know why, but his positioning was all over the place today and he was indecisive too. - Bonaventura is showing better growth than I anticipated. Bonaventura in recent weeks has been outstanding, showing real growth in his game and proving to take much more control in matches. - The CBs are a mixed bag to say the least. Zapata's got the physique and pace, but has major lapses in position and concentration. Mexes can be good, but is often lazy/ill disciplined in his positioning. Alex was positive for the most part today, I look forward to seeing him and Rami. - Muntari doesn't have the discipline of his teammates. Today, in the first half Real had most dominance when Khedira made driving runs in the heart of midfield and it was areas which Muntari should have been covering. - Niang is still the same as always. He's got individual ability, but he's still making poor decisions too often. - I feel sorry for Albertazzi. Honestly, this guys shoved at LB, but lacks the technical quality to produce anything going forward. Defensively he's pretty sound though. I think he should be sent out to look for a place where he'll be allowed to play his natural role in the center.

What a pleasant surprise. I was afraid we'd take some beating especially since Madrid won their last 20 something games. Even Agazzi, who was a calamity in the pre-season, did reasonably well. Now let's hope this doesn't make Galliani think we don't need new signings this winter mercato because after all we won empathically against the reigning UCL champions.
