View Full Version : Music chain
I got a new idea for a music chain. You have to do this: Find out the song that the poster before you posted and what artist. Then you post your own.
Only a part of a song is needed, but if you think the song will be hard you can post more, I begin with something that is short but hopefully is easy.
"
why she had to go I don't know she wouldn't say
I said something wrong now I long for yesterday

The Beatles' Yesterday
"All of this I, I cant believe I couldnt see
Kept in the dark, but you were there in front of me
Ive been sleeping a thousand years it seems
Got to open my eyes to everything"
Bring Me To Life (Evanescence)
"there's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
consuming/confusing
this lack of self-control I fear is never ending
controlling/I can't seem
to find myself again
my walls are closing in....."

Enter Sandman by Metallica!
"I wake up in the morning
And I raise my weary head
I've got an old coat for a pillow
And the earth was last night's bed
I don't know where I'm going
Only God knows where I've been
I'm a devil on the run
A six gun lover
A candle in the wind"
Finally I remember
Blaze of Glory Jon Bon Jovi
If blood will flow
when flesh and steel are one
drying in the color of the evening sun
tomorrows rain will wash the stains away
but something in our mind will always stay
Fragile by Sting
We in that sunshine state with a bomb ass hemp beat
the state where ya never find a dance floor empty
And pimps be on a mission for them greens
lean mean money-makin-machines servin fiends
2PAC - California Love
"She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky"
Sweet Child O' Mine (guns n'roses)
Can you feel it ,see it, hear it today?
If you can't, then it doesn't matter anyway
You will never understand it cuz it happens too fast
And it feels so good, it's like walking on glass...

Demi....your song is Epic by Faith No More
'....And it's whispered that soon, if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn, for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.....'

Led Zeppelin, Stairway to Heaven...
Sing it please, please, please
Come back and sing to me
To me, me

Watch you smile while you are sleeping

"Whatever happens, I'll leave it all to chance
Another heartache, another failed romance
On and on, does anybody know what we are living for?
I guess I'm learning, I must be warmer now
I'll soon be turning, round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free .."

The Rolling Stones....."Wild Horses" I think it is
"I'm seeing this girl and she just might be out of her mind
Well she's got baggage and it's all the emotional kind
She talks about closure and that validation bit
I don't mean to be insensitive, but I really hate that sh*t..."
That's correct, I actually believed that would be a problem for people.... But the real problem would be if I took one of the more rare Sting songs I like. It feels like I should know your but...

Sorry to "disturb" this thread, but the name Mark Knopfler remind me of something.
About 10 years ago Milan played a match, and Franco Baresi got injured on his forehead. Then he got a bandage on his head...... and suddenly the similarity with Mark Knopfler was amazing.
(Remember Walk of life?)
The only way to se the difference, was Baresi´s footwear :p :D
I tihnk some of mine was easy enough. Especially your song should have been regcognised... interesting Albert :)
you didn't give a song Susi....
so here we go. I give two verses, but no chorus.

This is a classic song!!
"Say I remember when we used to sit
in the government yard in Trenchtown.
Observing all the hypocrites
as they'd mingle with the good people we met.
Good friends we had and good friends we lost
along the way.
In this bright future you can forget your past.
So dry your tears I say.
(chorus)
I remember when we used to sit
in the government yard in Trenchtown.
And then Georgie would make a fire light
as it was love wood burning through the night.
And we would cook wholemeal porridge
of which I'd share with you. "

And the moment that you wander far from me
I wanna feel you in my arms again

Good friends we had and good friends we lost
along the way.
In this bright future you can forget your past.
So dry your tears I say.
(chorus)
I remember when we used to sit
in the government yard in Trenchtown.
And then Georgie would make a fire light
as it was love wood burning through the night.
And we would cook wholemeal porridge
of which I'd share with you. "

and that man comes on the radio
and he's tellin' me more and more
about some useless information
supposed to fire my imagination
(chorus)
When I'm watchin' my TV
and that man comes on to tell me
how white my shirts can be.
Well he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke
the same cigarettes as me.

Each others wounds
We all caught

To continue this, i had to search .... :embarass: Melanie Safka - 'Lay Down'
Anyway in this Lyric is so much truth, beside that it's a good song..........
" I don’t know if it’s even in your mind at all
It could be me
At this moment in time
Is it in your mind at all
It should be me, it could be me
Forever
Wandering through life will love come home to you
And the love you want forever, will they be true to you
Will we sleep and sometimes love until the moon shines
Maybe the next time I’ll be yours and maybe you’ll be mine
I don’t know if it’s even in your mind at all
It could be me
At this moment in time
Love’s indescribable
It should be me, it could be me
Forever"
Had to search for this, to keep the thread going!
It's Simply Red, Sunrise
Clicks, clacks
Riding the backs of giraffes for laughs is alright for a while
The ego sings of castles and kings and things
That go with a life of style
Wanting to feel, to know what is real
Living is a lie
Omigawd! The Porpoise Song by the Monkees.
Not one of Goffin and King's proudest moments...;)
Did someone recently cover this?
RIO
Oh yeah, I am supposed to add to the chain, huh?
OK, I dare you to get this:
...Girls at the stadium.
There was 20,000 girls calling out to me.
Marie, Ruth, but to tell you the truth,
I didn't hear them, I didn't see.
I let my eyes drift to the big tower clock,
And I heard them bells ringing in my heart:
Going ding dong, ding dong, ding dong, ding dong.
Looked at the tower,
And she came in my room,
And she whispered to me and we took the big plunge...
RIO
Oh come on, the Porpoise Song is complete musical genius! Fairly bizarre possibly LSD fuelled genius, but hey, what can you do? I haven't a clue if someone covered it....but no-one could ever better the Monkees performing it. Yes.
As for your song RIO.....erk! That's the most difficult one I've seen! Go on, give us a clue....
OK:
I believe it was first done by an Irish band that once boasted a singer who is still quite famous today (who, at that time, was thinner and had much more hair). Then it was covered by one of the American bands from the famous "Nuggets" compilations. This version (and I think the lyrics are unique to it), is by an American woman singer, originally from Detroit, MI, who had a chance to be big in the late 70s/early 80s but decided that living in a trailer with the guy that played guitar for the MC5 was a better carreer option. Oh yeah, U2 also has a song of the same name (from their earlier more religious period) of the same title, which is 100% different. I would think these would be enough clues for anyone...
;)
You people certainly aren't music geeks like I am (a fact you should be glad for, apparently). :D
Bonus Clue: The song title is both a woman's name and a latin term once used frequently in the Roman Catholic Latin Mass prior to Vatican II. :)
RIO
Um...Gloria? It's the only song I know that was sung by Van Morrison, had a song of the same name sang by U2, is a woman's name AND is Latin.
Am I right?
Ok. I don't want you obsessing over it all day. It is Gloria . But the version done by Patti Smith (you know, "Jesus died for somebody's sins, but not mine...") in 1975. I think she made up a lot of her own lyrics for it. :) Go on. I've got a lot moere stumpers.
RIO
You turned off the life and love
And left with another guy
You turned off all the love from me
But you forgot to turn off the cry
You forgot to turn off the cry
You pulled the shadows a way down low
And disconnect the telephone
Oh but these tears are running from my eyes
You can't turn them off any, no
No you can't turn them off any, no
Its one of my favorite songs of all time! :)
You Left The Water Running by Otis Redding.
Back to the deep hurting:
The last night of the fair,
By the big wheel generator,
A boy is stabbed and his money is grabbed
And the air hangs heavy like a dulling wine.
She is famous, she is funny.
An engagement ring doesn't mean a thing
To a mind consumed by brass money.
And though I walk home alone
My faith in love is still devout.
The last night of the fair,
From a seat on a whirling waltzer.
Her skirt ascends for a watching eye;
Its a hideous trait on her mother's side.
And though I walk home alone
My faith in love is still devout.
Then someone falls in love
And someone's beaten up...
This one is considerably easier, and quite funny. The musical version of the Death of Little Nell, I think. ;)
RIO
The Smiths....erm....song title....something about Russian Ruffians, or something. I forget, I forget again....
One google search later, and the song title is revealed. Rusholme Ruffians!
And if you come, when all the flowers are dying
And I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.
The song is "Danny Boy". I guess it's from Barry Taylor.
What would we do without Google??;)
For me the next song is the best song ever made. It still gives me the shivers on my spine when I hear it. You can find this one without Google, easily.;)
We've been through this auch a long long time
Just tryin' to kill the pain
But lovers always come and lovers always go
An no one's really sure who's lettin' go today
Walking away
If we could take the time
to lay it on the line
I could rest my head
Just knowin' that you were mine
All mine
You were right my friend.... it was easy without google :)
A song when I was 14-15, something like that.... I loved that band then. ;)
November Rain - Guns N Roses
Another song that should be easly found without google and was also in those days when I heard all kind of bands. this one(the band) I have (until today) every piece they made.
I guees I'm learning I must be warmer now
I'll soon be turning round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free
Another great song from a great band indeed.
The show must go on by Queen. Freddy is the best voice ever born.
This one is of my youth. I still apreciate it, but I'm not as fanatic as I was back then. (I'm growing old I think:p )
Can't you see I'm easily bothered by persistence
One step from lashing out at you...
You want in to get under my skin
And call yourself a friend
I've got more friends like you
What do I do?
(Pre) Is there no standard anymore?
What it takes, who I am, where I've been
Belong
You can't be something you're not
Be yourself, by yourself
Stay away from me
A lesson learned in life
Known from the dawn of time
That'd be Walk by Pantera, no?
You may have to Google this, unless you are both as old and as weird as I:
My wife lies down in a chair
And stares into air
I know she's there
I'm making coffee for two
Coffee for two
But I come back in with coffee for three
Coffee for three?
My dead wife sits in a chair
Peeling a pear
I know she' there
She wanders off to the bed
Shaking her head
"Robyn," she says, "you know I don't take sugar..."

Glad to hear there are more people with brains for music. ;) Yes, I can't get enough of that single either. Just amazingly great.
RIO's song should be "my wife and my dead wife" from fegmania. I only follow google on this, because it doesn't sound familiar to me.:o
Well, here I go again. Another classic...
Everytime that I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face gettin' clearer
The past is gone
It went by like dust to dawn
Isn't that the way
Everybody's got their dues in life to pay
I know what nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know it's everybody's sin
You got to lose to know how to win
Aerosmith - Dream on
OK this also should be very easy for the oldies here and for the youngsters as well..... I think..... :)
There's a feeling I get when I look to the west
and my spirit is crying for leaving
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke
through the trees
and the voices of those who stand looking
Stairways to Heaven by Led Zeppelin...another classic
Dream On is also a great single
ok, here goes another "easy" one:
Talk to me softly
There's something in your eyes
Don't hang your head in sorrow
And please don't cry
I know how you feel inside I've
I've been there before
Somethin's changin' inside you
And don't you know
Don't Cry-Guns N Roses:cool:
This is pretty easy and one of the songs I listen to when I'm completely out of it:stoned:
A well'a bless my soul

My friends say I'm actin' wild as a bug

Great song indeed.
Don't Cry-Guns N Roses
Another classic, man I love that band.
Oke, my turn.
Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I closed my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face

Arms Wide Open (or something like that) by Creed
This one shouldn't be too difficult:
I'm not afraid of anything in this world
There's nothing you can throw at me that I haven't already heard
I'm just trying to find a decent melody
A song that I can sing in my own company
I never thought you were a fool
But darling, look at you
You gotta stand up straight, carry your own weight
These tears are going nowhere, baby
U2 with All that you can't leave behind.;)
To this world I’m unimportant
Just because I have nothing to give
So you call this your free country
Tell me why it cost so much to live
Tell me why
This world can turn me down
But I won’t turn away, oh no
I won’t turn around
All my work and endless measures
Never seem to get me very far
Walk a mile just to move an inch
Now even though I’m trying so damn hard
I’m trying so hard
Three Doors Down - Duck and Run
I like "When i'm gone"
:)
Let's try if you know this one
"
We are so young
our lives have just begun
but already we´re considering
escape from this world
and we´ve waited for so long
for this moment to come
we´re so anxious to be together
together in death "
:( Ok...nobody found out its H.I.M - Join me in death
Let's try if you know this one It's a classic one.
I  this song :)
"
How can I just let you walk away,
just let you leave without a trace
When I stand here taking every breath with you, ooh
You're the only one who really knew me at all
How can you just walk away from me,
when all I can do is watch you leave
Cos we've shared the laughter and the pain,
and even shared the tears
You're the only one who really knew me at all
So take a look at me now, 'cos there's just an empty space
And there's nothing left here to remind me,
just the memory of your face
Take a look at me now, 'cos there's just an empty space"
this one is easy!
take a look at me now - Phil Collins
------x-----------x---------x-----------x----------x-------
I'm sorry but I ain't gonna change my ways
you know I've tried but I'm still the same
I've got to do it my own way...
It's too bad, but hey, that's me
what goes around comes around, you'll see
that I can carry the burden of pain
'cause it ain't the first time that a man goes insane
and when I spread my wings to embrace him for life
I'm suckin' out his love, I, I'll never be nobody's wife...
Uhm- not sure....but Anouk - Nobody's Wife?
Just in the mood to listen to old stuff yet .. :o :o
also a classic one, i love
"Look into my eyes - you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart - search your soul
And when you find me there you'll search no more
Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
Look into my heart - you will find
There's nothin' there to hide
Take me as I am - take my life
I would give it all - I would sacrifice
Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more"
Bryan Adams, Everything I do
Bit of an odd one this that non-English people may not know...
I drove my tractor through your haystack last night
(ooh aah ooh aah)
I threw me pitchfork at your dog to keep quiet
(ooh aah ooh aah)
Now something's telling me
That you'm avoiding me
Come on now darling you've got something I need
(.......)
An' I'll give you the key
Come on now let's get together
In perfect harmony
I got twenty acres
An' you got forty-three
(......)
An' I'll give you the key
She made I laugh ha ha
I'll stick by you, I'll give you all that you need
We'll 'ave twins and triplets
I'm a man built for speed
And you know I'll love you darlin'
So give me your hand
But what I want the most
Is all they acres of land
Sorry Wilmot but it was hard....google helped me a little ;)

Another cool Band
Just a' urchin
livin' under the street
I'm a hard case

I'm your charity case
So buy me somethin' to eat
I'll pay you at another time
Take it to the end of the line
Ragz to richez or so they say
Ya gotta-keep pushin'
for the fortune and fame
It's all a gamble
When it's just a game
Ya treat it like a capital crime
Everybody's doin' their time
haaa..... Guns N Roses - Paradise city :)
continue my oldies.....
I said where you goin' with that gun in your hand?
Alright. I'm goin down to shoot my old lady,
you know I caught her messin' 'round with another man.
Yeah,! I'm goin' down to shoot my old lady,
you know I caught her messin' 'round with another man.
Huh! And that ain't too cool.
Jimi Hendrickx: Hey Joe... :)
Great song.
This is another great band, with a not so known song. Only fans will know this one I think.;) :)
My mother was a witch, she was burned alive
Thankless little *****, for the tears I cried
Take her down now, don't want to see her face
All blistered and burnt, can't hide my disgrace
Twenty seven, everyone was nice
Gotta see'em, make'em pay the price
See their bodies out on the ice
Take my time
Metallica - Am I Evil
Here´s an easy one?;)
'Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood
When blackness was a virtue and the road was full of mud
I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."
And if I pass this way again, you can rest assured
I'll always do my best for her, on that I give my word
In a world of steel-eyed death, and men who are fighting to be warm.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."
Bob Dylan, Shelter From the Storm
When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low.
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know.
When logic and proportion
Have fallen softly dead,
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the dormouse said:
"Feed your head. Feed your head. Feed your head"
White Rabbit by The Jefferson Airplane. I'm from SF and that is kind of like our city anthem here (remind me to tell you my tragic "Starship" story someday--its a howler! :D ).
Oh, and the song My Wife And My Dead Wife is by Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians, the album was Fegmania. Anyway...;)
An easy one, because I am feeling lazy, I've removed the chorus, since that is the title:
Standing on the corner
Got a suitcase in my hand
Jack's in his coat and Jane is in her vest
And me, I'm in a rock n roll band
Riding in a Stutz Bearcat, Jim,
You know those were different times
All the poets they study rules of verse
And those ladies they roll their eyes...
I'll tell you something: Jack he is a banker
And Jane she is a clerk
And both of them save their moneys, oh
When they come home from work
Sitting down by the fire
While the radio does play
The classical music there Jim
The March Of The Wooden Soldiers
All your protest kids
And you can hear Jack say...
Some people like to go out dancing
And other people like us they've got to work
And there's even some evil mothers
That'll tell you that everything is just dirt
And that women never really faint
And that villians always blink their eyes
And that women are the only ones who blush
And that life is just to die
But anyone who ever had a heart
They would turn around and break it
And anyone who ever played a part
They would turn around and hate it...
Heavenly wine and roses
Seem to whisper to her when she smiled...

Velvet underground - Sweet Jane.
now for a pshycadelic classic.
Do you remember a guy that's been
in such early song
I've heard a rumour from ground control
oh no, don't say it's true
I got a message from the action man
I'm happy, hope your happy too
I've loved all I've needed love
sordid detail following
The shrieking of nothing is killing me
Just pictures of Jap girls in synthesis
and I ain't got no money and I ain't got no hair
But the planet is glowing

chorus
...
Time and again I tell myself
I'll stay clean tonight
But the little green wheels are following me
Oh no, not again

I've neved done good things
I've never did anything out of the blue

A real oldie (from 1951):
Look here girls I'm telling you now
They call me lovin' Dan
I rock 'em roll 'em all night long
I'm a sixty minute man
If you don't believe I'm all I say
Come up and take my hand
When I let you go you'll cry:
"Oh yes, he's a sixty minute man!"
There'll be fifiteen minutes of kissing
And then you'll holler, "Please don't stop, don't stop!"
There'll be fifteen minutes of squeezing, fifteen minutes of pleasing
And fifteen minutes of blowing my top
If your old man ain't treating you right
Come up and see old Dan

If you want a clue....think a classic film, currently having a ham fisted Hollywood remake.
The Self-Preservation Society song from "The Italian Job".
My sister's boss is a hairdresser from the East End (apparently in the early 60s this was considered a manly profession along the lines of haberdashery) and whan he gets going with the goofy slang, he sounds just like that song (most of the time he sounds just like Austin Powers becuase he's 'poshing it up').

Speaking of British...
I never thought it would happen
With me and the girl from Clapham
Out on the windy common
That night I ain't forgotten
When she dealt out the rations
With some or other passions
I said, "you are lady"
"Perhaps," she said, " I may be"
We moved into a basement
With thoughts of our engagement
We stayed in by the telly, allthough the room was smelly
We spent our time just kissing
Though the railway arms were missing
But love it got us hooked up
And all the time it took up
I got a job with Stanley
He said I'd come in handy
And started me on Monday
So I had a bath on Sunday
I worked eleven hours
And bought the girl some flowers
She said she'd seen a doctor
And nothing now could stop her
I worked all through the winter
Though the weather was bitter
I put away a tenner each week to make her better
And when the time was ready
We had to sell the telly
Late evenings by the fire
And little kicks inside her
This morning at four fifty
I took her, rather nifty,
Down to a naked baiter
And thirty minutes later
She gave birth to a daughter
Within a year, a walker,
She looked just like her mother
If there could be another
And now she's two years older
Her mother's with a soldier
She left me when my drinking
Became a proper stand-in
The devil came and took me
From bar to street to bookie
No more nights by the telly
No more nights, nappies smelling
Alone here in the kitchen
I feel there's something missing
I beg for some forgiveness
But begging's not my business
And she won't write a letter
Allthough I always tell her
And so it's my assumption
I'm really up the junction.

Rant Over....for the time being;)
Set in LA?!!?
The commercials (which are on TV here every 10 minutes now) make it look like "Europe" (a fascinating fairy tale like world of Hollywood's creation) --a lot of alp-like mountains and Cooper's Minis driving along narrow cobbled roads-- is the setting. I'll have to look closer next time one is on...should be about two minutes. :D

That's what I heard, it's mostly based in LA. I've seen pictures allegedly from the movie with more that a few American muscle cars. Maybe it isn't a remake but a sequel of sorts, so the bit in the mountians happens at the start of the movie.....maybe. Like I said, Hollywood messes up a quintissential British classic, the Ghurkas are coming to Hollywood;) :p :D .
Just checked...without spoiling anything the film starts in Italy and the Alps, then transfers to LA.
Am I suposed to be giving clues on the lyrics? It has been a few days.
:)
RIO
Yeah....I mean, it's beat me, and I don't want to google it. So (Pretty Please;) ) give us a clue, or I'll go mad!
1. The band that did it were semi-big in the (very) early 80s. I'm guessing they were bigger in the UK than in the USA.
2. Their first keyboard player has (had? its not like we get up to date British TV here in the USA) a TV variety show called "Later, with..."
3. They had their biggest hit with a song that had vocals by their second (or third) keyboard player. This song had probably the cheapest looking video ever to be played on MTV.
4. Their name rhymes with "Tease", and for a while, here in the US, had a "UK" after it--kinda like The Beat was known as The English Beat here, to all but a few anglo-philes.
5. For a short time, their two songwriters (Difford and Tillbrook) were considered the new Lennon-McCartney, but you know, that didn't last for long, since the band broke up in 1984, and god knows what they are doing now.
There's five clues.
;)

Ah, Jools Holland! He was in a band called Squeeze - and the song was 'Up the Junction'
Begodude, You haven't got the knack of the game;) . You have to type some of the lyrics from a song, then everyone else guesses the title of the song, and who sang it.
'You know that we do take away
We deliver too
Open 24 hours babe
Just waiting on a call from you
Waiting on a call from you
Well I'm in the yellow pages
You just take a look
Look me up under services
You know it's just an open book
Babe it's just an open book
It's just an open book
Well baby
Any minute, any hour
I'm waiting on a call from you
And you know this heart is constant
I'm your lover, baby '
(Hang on, has this one already been asked? Because if not, I've just gotten the wierdist premonition about who's going to answer it....)

How about this one?
Load up on guns and bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's over bored and self assured
Oh no, I know a dirty word

Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it was hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind

Nirvana - Smells like teen spirit
An actually song, i hear often nowadays
I always said that I was gonna make it,
Now it's plain for everyone to see,
But this game I'm in don't take no prisoners,
Just casualties,
I know that everything is gonna change,
Even the friends I knew before me go,
But this dream is the life I've been searching for,
Started believing that I was the greatest,
My life was never gonna be the same,
Cause with the money came a different status,
That's when things change,
Now I'm too concerned with all the things I own,
Blinded by all the pretty girls I see,
I'm beginning to lose my integrity
Craig David and Sting, 'Rise and Fall'
I know that a man ain't supposed to cry,
but these tears I can't hold inside.
Losin' you would end my life you see,
cause you mean that much to me.
You could have told me yourself
that you love someone else.

I Heard It Through The Grapevine by Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight and The Pips and those super-talented California Raisins. ;)
To stay on the theme:
People moving out
People moving in
Why? Because of the color of their skin
You can run, run, run
But you sure can't hide
An eye for an eye
A tooth for tooth
Vote for me and I'll set you free
Rap on, brother, rap on
Well, the only person talking about "Love one another"
Is the preacher
And it seems the only one interested in learning
Is the teacher
Segregation, determination
Demonstration, integration
Aggrivation, humiliation
Obligation to our nation...
The sale of pills is at an all time high
Young folks walking 'round with their head in the sky
The city's aflame in the summertime
And the beat goes on...
Evolution, revolution
Gun control, the sound of soul
Shooting rockets to the moon
Kids growing up too soon
And the politicians say more taxes will solve everything
And the band played on...
Round and around and around we go
Where the world's headed
Nobody knows...
The California Raisins:eek:
Y'know, I have that song on no less than 3 different albums. It's The Temptations, Ball of Confusion.
And now for something completely different;)
Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad,
Other things just make you swear and curse,
When you're chewing your life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle,
And this'll help things turn out for the best,
And.....
If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle. That's the thing.
And...
For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin.
Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
So,...
Life's a piece of sh*t,
When you look at it.
Life's a laugh and death's a joke. It's true.
You'll see it's all a show.
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And...
Yes, the California Raisins were a gimmick dreamed up by some advertising genius to sell raisins. I don't know if they got all over the world or were just in the USA. They were vaguely african-american looking claymation raisins who sang old Motown songs. Looking back on it now, it does seem kind of racist (to paraphrase Paul Mooney, once again the black man has to entertain you all, this time in the guise of dried grapes...), but they were huge in the 80s. My cousin had a set of animatronic ones who sang and danced after a fashion. :D
Is the song Always Look On The right Side Of Life ? I have a vision of Reginna Amaranto's buddy, Jesus, singing it on the cross...am I right?
RIO
Yep, that's the one;) . Genius film.....'Wodewick? Do we have a wodewick?'

Your turn...
Sorry, I couldn't seem to connect to anything last evening (thanks EarthLink.net, you are swell)...
A little bit of Broadway...
Bangkok, oriental setting
But the city don't know what the city is getting.
The creme de la creme of the chess world
In a show with everything but Yul Brenner.
Time flies, it doesn't seem a minute
Since the Tyrolian spa had the chess boys in it.
All change, but don't you know that when you
Play at this level, its no ordinary venue:
It's Iceland, or the Philippines,
Or Hastings, or this place...
One town is very like another
With your head down over your pieces, brother.
It's a drag, it's a bore, it's really such a pity
To be looking at the board, not looking at the city.
Whaddya mean?
You've seen one crowded, polluted stinking town...
Tea girls, young and sweet,
Some are set up in the Somerset Maugham Suite.
Get Thai'd, you're talking to a tourist
Who's every move's among the purists.
I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine...
Siam's gonna be the witness
Of the ultimate test of cerebral fitness.
And this grips me more than would
A muddy old river or reclining Buddha.
And thank God I'm only watching the game,
Controlling it.
I don't see you guys rating
The kind of Mate I'm contemplating.
I'd let you watch, I would invite you,
But the Queens we use
Would not excite you.
So you'd better go back to your bars,
Your temples, your massage parlors...

I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, babe.......

I go to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays I go shoppin'
And have buttered scones for tea.
He cuts down trees. He eats his lunch.
He goes to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays he goes shopping
And has buttered scones for tea.
(chorus)
I cut down trees. I skip and jump.
I like to press wild flowers.
I put on women's clothing
And hang around in bars.
He cuts down trees. He skips and jumps.
He likes to press wild flowers.
He puts on women's clothing
And hangs around in bars?!
(chorus)
I cut down trees. I wear high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra.
I wish I'd been a girlie,
Just like my dear Papa.
He cuts down trees. He wears high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra?!
What's this, wants to be a girlie?! Oh, my!
And I thought you were so rugged! Poofter!

Times have changed and times are strange
Here I come but I aint the same....
Mama i'm comin home
Time gone by
Seems to be
You could have been a better friend to me...
Mama I'm comin home
You took me in and you
Drove me out yeah
You had me hypnotized
Lost and found and turned around
By the fire in your eyes
You made me cry
You told me lies
But I cant stand to say goodbye......
It's kind of easy when I can recognise the title within the text Demi.;) It's Mama I'm coming home, by Ozzy Osbourne.
I have a hard time decding which to take.... Here goes
If the night turned cold and the stars look down
and you hug yourself on the cold cold ground
you wake the morning in a strangers coat
No one would you see
You ask yourself who'd watch for me?
My only friend who could it be?
it's hard to say it
I hate to say it but it's probably me
When you belly's empty and the hunger's so real
And you're too proud to beg and too dumb to steal
You search the city for your only friend
No one would you see
You ask yourself, who could it be
A solitary voice to speak out and set you free
I hate to say it
I hate to say it, but it's probably me
You're not the easiest person I ever got to know
And it's hard for us both to let our feelings show
Some would say I should let you go your way
You'll only make me cry
If there's one guy, just one guy
Who'd lay down his life for you and die
It's hard to say it
It's hard to say it, but it's probably me
When the world's gone crazy and it makes no sense
There's only one voice that comes to your defence
The jury's out and your eyes search the room
And one friendly face is all you need to see
If there's one guy, just one guy
Who'd lay down his life for you and die
It's hard to say it
I hate to say it, but it's probably me
I hate to say it
I hate to say it, but it's probably me

That'd be It's Probably Me by Sting
Well, I shuffled through the city on the 4th of July
I had a firecracker waiting to blow
Breaking like a rocket who was making it's way
To the cities of Mexico
Lived in an apartment out on Avenue A
I had a tar-hut on the corner of 10th
Had myself a lover that was finer than gold
But I've vroken up and busted up since
And love don't play any games with me, anymore
Like she did before
The world won't wait, so I'd better shake
That thing right out there through the door
Hell, I still love love New York

A little hint here, this is the song I listen to almost all the time... I have mentioned it in other music threads. Kind of hard, but I give you the complete song. :) I love it.
All the late night bargains have been struck
Between the satin beaus and their belles
And prehistoric garbage trucks
Have the city to themselves
Echoes roars dinosaurs
They're all doing the monster mash
And most of the taxis and the whores
Are only taking calls for cash
I don't know how it happened
It all took place so quick
But all I can do is hand it to you
And your latest trick
My door was standing open
Security was laid back and lax
But it was only my heart got broken
You must have had a pass key made out of wax
You played robbery with insolence
And I played the blues in twelve bars down Lover's Lane
And you never did have the intelligence to use
The twelve keys hanging off my chain
I don't know how it happened
It all took place so quick
But all I can do is hand it to you
And your latest trick
Now it's past last call for alcohol
Past recall has been here and gone
The landlord finally paid us all
The satin jazzmen have put away their horns
And we're standing outside of this wonderland
Looking so bereaved and so bereft
Like a Bowery bum when he finally understands
The bottle's empty and there's nothing left
I don't know how it happened
It was faster than the eye could flick
But now all I can do is hand it to you
And your latest trick
Definitly Dire Straits..:) I know it´s from ´Brothers in Arms´ but not sure what it´s called.. My guess is ´And your latest trick" :D (too lazy to check google)..
Here´s another classic..;)
We sail through endless skies
stars shine like eyes
the black night sighs
The moon in silver trees
falls down in tears
light of the night
The earth, a purple blaze
of sapphire haze
in orbit always
While down below the trees
bathed in cool breeze
silver starlight breaks down the night
And so we pass on by the crimson eye
of great god Mars
as we travel the universe
Hmm, guess you guys need a hint.. The leadsinger in this band has got a popular tv show going in the US.. The song was released back when he´s still a respectable musician.. Today, unfortunately, he´s ruined his image in all possible ways.. :(
Where are you, Wilmot? You seem to know all the classics..;)
Had to search here, never really listened to Black Sabbath, it is Planet Caravan. Laudrup, the title for the Dire Straits song is "Your latest trick" only. :)
Now for another of my favourite artists.
God I feel like hell tonight
The tears of rage I cannot fight
I'd be the last to help you understand
Are you strong enough to be my man..
Well, nothing's true, and nothing's right
So let me be alone tonight
'Cause you can't change the way I am
Are you strong enough to be my man..
Lie to me, I promise I'll believe
Lie to me, but please don't leave
I have a face I cannot show
I make the rules up as I go
Just try and love me if you can
Are you strong enough to be my man..
Are you strong enough to be my man..
Are you strong enough to be my man..
Are you strong enough to be my man..
When I've shown you That I just don't care
When I'm throwing punches in the air
When I'm broken down and I can't stand
Would you be man enough to be my man..
Lie to me, I promise I'll believe
Lie to me, but please don't leave
Never listened to Black Sabbath either Laudrup....although that clue really shook me off track. Ozzy Ozbourne was respectable? ;) :p
Anyway, "Strong Enough" by Sheryl Crow
But of a cult hit this one....
'I'm your only friend
I'm not your only friend
But I'm a little glowing friend
But really I'm not actually your friend
But I am
There's a picture opposite me
Of my primitive ancestry
Which stood on rocky shores
and kept the beaches shipwreck free
Though I respect that a lot
I'd be fired if that were my job
After killing Jason off
and countless screaming Argonauts
Bluebird of friendliness
Like guardian angels its always near'
Bird House in your Soul
Here is a classic one
Is this real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from realitiy
Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go, little high, little low
Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to me, to me
The Greatest Song ever.....Queen, 'Bohemian Rhapsody"

Paint your palette blue and grey
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colours on the snowy linen land
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen
They did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now'
Oh that one is Vincent by Don McLean. I've worked at many jobs where I've had to (been forced to) listen to light rock on the radio. You will not stump me with anything by The Carpenters, Dionne Warwick, Cat Stevens or any of those guys! ;)
You keep saying you've got something for me
Something you call love, but confess,
You've been messing where you shouldn't be messing
And someone else is taking all your best...
You keep lying when you oughta be truthing
And you keep losing when you oughta not bet
You keep saming when you oughta be changing
What's right is right, and you ain't been right yet...
You keep playing where you shouldn't be playing
And you keep thinking that you'll never get burned, ha!

RIO
A tearjerker, which can reduce hardened black ex-cons to tears (seriously, I've seen it):
I was born and raised down in Alabama
On a farm way back up in the woods
I was so ragged, folks used to call me "Patches"
Papa used to tease me about it, but deep down he was hurt, 'cos
He'd done all he could
My papa was a great old man
I can still se him with a shovel in his hand
See, education he never had, but he did wonders when the times got bad
The little money from the crops we raised
Barely paid the bills we'd made
Oh, life had kicked him down to the ground
When he'd try to get up, life would kick him back down
One day papa called me to his dyin' bed, put his hand on my shoulder,
And in tears he said:
"Patches, I'm depending on you son,
To pull the family through
My son, it's all up to you."
Two days later, papa passed away
And I became a man that day
So I told mama, I was gonna quit school, but
She said that was daddy's strictest rule
So every morning 'fore I went to school
I picked the cotton and I chopped wood, too
Some times I felt that I couldn't go on
I wanted to leave, just run away from home,
But, I'd remember what my daddy'd said
With tears in his eyes on his dyin'bed"
"Patches, I'm depending on you son,
To pull the family through
My son, it's all left up to you."
Then one day, a strong rain came
And washed all the crops away
At the age of thirteen I felt the weight of the whole world
On my shoulders
And, you know, mama knew what I was going through
'Cos every day I had to work the fields
'Cos that was the only way we got our meals
See, I was the oldest of the family
And everybody else depended on me
Every night I'd hear my mama pray:
"Lord, give him strength to make another day."
So the years have passed
And all the kids is grown
The angels took mama to a brand new home
Lord knows, people, I've shedded tears,
But my daddy's voice kept me through the years
Saying:
"Patches, I'm depending on you son
To pull the family through
My son, it's all left up to you."
Oh, I can still hear papa's voice saying:
"Patches, I'm depending on you son
I've tried to do my best
It's up to you to do the rest..."
:depress:

Begodude haven't got the meaning of this topic Demi.
I can hear the soft breathing
Of the girl that I love,
As she lies here beside me
Asleep with the night,
And her hair, in a fine mist
Floats on my pillow,
Reflecting the glow
Of the winter moonlight.
She is soft, she is warm,
But my heart remains heavy,
And I watch as her breasts
Gently rise, gently fall,
For I know with the first light of dawn
I'll be leaving,
And tonight will be
All I have left to recall.
Oh, what have I done,
Why have I done it,
I've committed a crime,
I've broken the law.
For twenty-five dollars
And pieces of silver,
I held up and robbed
A hard liquor store.
My life seems unreal,
My crime an illusion,
A scene badly written
In which I must play.
Yet I know as I gaze
At my young love beside me,
The morning is just a few hours away.
Didn't recognize..... google did :p:rolleyes:
but he find the guitar cords for him too.... I'll try them later.

She's just sixteen years old
Leave her alone, they say
Separated by fools
Who don't know what love is yet
But I want you to know -
If I could fly, I'd pick you up
I'd take you into the night
And show you a love
Like you've never seen - ever seen
It's like having a dream
Where nobody has a heart
It's like having it all
And watching it fall apart
And I would wait till the end of time for you
And do it again, it's true
I can't measure my love
There's nothing to compare it to
But I want you to know.....
I really love that song.... it brings me good memories
INXS - Beautiful Girl
Nicky's in the corner
With a black coat on
Running from a bad home
With some cat inside
Now where did you find her
Among the neon lights

Stay with me

Beautiful girl (stay with me)
She wants to go home
From doorway to doorway
Street corner to corner
With the neon ghosts in the city
And she says
Stay with me
Stay with me
Stay with me
Stay with me
She's so scared
So very frightened
Anything could happen
Right here tonight
Beautiful girl (stay with me)
Beautiful girl (stay with me)
She wants to go home
Stay with me (beautiful girl)
Stay with me (beautiful girl)
Stay with me (beautiful girl)
Stay with me (beautiful girl)

Artist: U2
Song: Staring At The Sun
Summer stretching on the grass... summer dresses pass
In the shade of a willow tree creeps a crawling over me
Over me and over you stuck together with God's glue
It's going to get stickier too...
It's been a long hot summer
let's get undercover
Don't try too hard to think... don't think at all
I'm not the only one starin' at the sun
Afraid of what you'd find if you took a look inside
Not just deaf and dumb i'm staring at the sun
Not the only one who's happy to go blind
There's an insect in your ear if you scratch it won't disappear
It's gonna itch and burn and sting
Do you want to see what the scratching brings
Waves that leave me out of reach
Breaking on your back like a beach...
Will we ever live in peace?
Cause those that can't do often have to
Those that can't do often have to... preach
To the ones staring at the sun...
Afraid of what you'll find if you took a look inside
Not just deaf and dumb... staring at the sun
I'm not the only one who'd rather go blind
Intransigence is all around... military is still in town
Armour plated suits and ties... daddy just won't say goodbye
Referee won't blow the whistle God is good but will HE listen
I'm nearly great
But there's something I'm missing I left in the duty free
Though you never really belonged to me
You're not the only one staring at the sun
Afraid of what you'd find if you stepped back inside
I'm not sucking my thumb I'm staring at the sun
Not the only one who's happy to go blind

Ok, had to google - Benny Mardones, Into the Night. I've never heard of him:confused:
I am sitting in the morning
At the diner on the corner
I am waiting at the counter
For the man to pour the coffee
And he fills it only halfway
And before I even argue
He is looking out the window
At somebody coming in
"It is always nice to see you"
Says the man behind the counter
To the woman who has come in
She is shaking her umbrella
And I look the other way
As they are kissing
Their hellos
I'm pretending not to see them
Instead I pour the milk
hehe... ok... :) well... I just like this music a lot! :D
your song is Tom's Diner by Suzanne Vega...

I get up, and nothing gets me down.
You got it tough. I've seen the toughest around.
And I know, baby, just how you feel.
You've got to roll with the punches to get to what's real
Oh can't you see me standing here,
I've got my back against the record machine
I ain't the worst that you've seen.
Oh can't you see what I mean ?

Here's an easy one:
I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand
Walking down the streets of Soho in the rain
He was looking for a place called Lee Ho Fook's
Going to get himself a big dish of beef chow mein...
If you hear him howling around your kitchen door
Better not let him in
Little old lady got mutilated late last night...
He's the hairy handed gent who ran amock in Kent
Lately he's been overheard in Mayfair
Better stay away from him
He'll rip your lungs out, Jim
I'd like to meet his tailor...
Well, I saw Lon Chaney walking with the Queen...
I saw Lon Chaney Jr walking with the Queen...
I saw a werewolf drinking a Pina Colada at Trader Vic's
His hair was perfect...

I met her in a club down in North Soho
where you drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry cola
C-O-L-A Cola.
She walked up to me and she asked me to dance.
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said, "......"

Well, I'm not the world's most physical guy,
but when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine

Well, I'm not dumb but I can't understand

The lyrics you posted are for Lola by the Kinks (the greatest British band in my opnion)/
Now for some concise and poetical lyrics by the master of the louche subject (his records were banned from my highschool dances!):
I guess I should have known, by the way you parked your car sideways
That it wouldn't last.
See, you're the kind of person who believes in making out once.
Love 'em and leave 'em fast.
I guess I must be dumb, cos you had a pocket full of horses,
Trojan and some of them used,
But it was Saturday night,
I guess that makes it all right
And you say, "What have I got to lose?"
And I say...
And I guess I should have closed my eyes
When you drove me to the place where your horses run free.
Cos I felt a little ill when I saw all the pictures
Of the jockeys that were there before me.
Believe it or not, I started to worry,
Wondering if I had enough class,
But it was Saturday night,
I guess that makes it all right
And you say, "Baby, have you got enough gas?"
Oh yeah...
A body like yours ought to be in jail,
Cos it's on the verge of being obscene.
Move over, baby, give me the keys,
I'm gonna try to tame your little red love machine...
You've got an ass, like I've never seen,
And the ride is so smooth
You must be a limosine...
You've got to slow down.
And if you don't,
I'm gonna run your body right to the ground.

I step off the train
I'm walking down your street again and past your door
But you don't live there any more
It's years since you've been there
But now you've disappeard somewhere like outer space
You've found some better place
And I miss you - like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you - like the deserts miss the rain
Could you be dead?
You always were two steps ahead of everyone
We'd walk behind while you would run
I look up at your house
And I can almost hear you shout down to me
Where I always used to be
And I miss you - like the deserts miss the rain
And I miss you - like the deserts miss the rain
Back on the train
I ask why did I come again?
Can I confess I've been haning around your old address?
The years have proved to offer nothing since you moved
You're long gone
But I can't move on..........

I'm gonna love you like nobody's loved you
Come rain or come shine.
High as a mountain and deep as a river
Well I guess when you met me
That it was just one of those things,
But don't you ever bet me,
'Cause I'm gonna be true if you let me.
You're gonna love me like nobody's loved me,
Happy together, unhappy together,
Won't that be fine?

Don't remember where I was
I realized life was a game
The more seriously I took things
The harder the rules became
I had no idea what it'd cost
My life passed before my eyes
I found out how little I accomplished
All my plans denied
So as you read this know my friends
I'd love to stay with you all
Please smile when you think of me
My body's gone that's all
A tout les amis
Je vous aime
Je dois partir
There are the last words
I'll ever speak
And they'll set me free
If my heart was still alive
I know it would surely break
And my memories left with you
There's nothing more to say
Moving on is a simple thing
What it leaves behind is hard
You know the sleeping feel no more pain
And the living are scarred...........
ok sorry.. had to use google.. it´s Megadeath - A Tout Le Monde..
I know what I wanted.
I know what I wanted.
I know how I wanted this to be.
you go down to the water,
drink down of the water,
walk up off the water,
leave it be.
This is not my dream, sister
it is cold in heaven.
and I'm not sprouting wings.
I'm turning, me.
I'm drowning, me.
brother, can you see those birds?
they don't look to heaven.
they don't need religion,
they can see.
they go down to the water,
drink down of the water,
fly up off the water,
leave it be
This is not my time, sister
It is cold in heaven.
but no-one's coming after me.
I'm drowning, me.
I'm drowning, me.
you know I am tired.
cold and bony tired.
nothing is going to save me,
I can see.
I can't say I'm fearful.
I can't say I'm not afraid.
I am not resisting,
I can see.
That I don't need a heaven.
I don't need religion.
I am in the place where I should be.
I am breathing water.
I am breathing water.
you know a body's got to breathe.
I'm drowning, me.
I'm drowning, me.

I'm alone yeah I don't know
If I can face the night
I'm in tears and the cryin' that I do
Is for you
I want your love
Let's break the walls between us
Don't make it tough
I'll put away my pride
Enough's enough,
I've suffered and I've seen the light
Don't know what I'm gonna do
About this feeling inside
Yes, it's true
Loneliness took me for a ride
Without your love
I'm nothing but a beggar
Without your love
A dog without a bone
What can I do?
I'm sleepin' in this bed alone
You're the reason I live
You're the reason I die
You're the reason I give
When I break down and cry
Don't need no reason why

Questa qua è per te
e anche se non è un granchè
ti volevo solo dire
che era qui in fondo a me.
E' per te che lo sai
di chi sto parlando dai
e ti piacerà un minuto
e poi te ne scorderai
perchè sei
Viva, viva
così come sei
quanta vita mi hai passato
e non la chiedi indietro mai
e sei
viva, viva
per quella che sei
sempre pronta, sempre ingorda
sempre e solo come vuoi.

The twenty-first century's yesterday
You can care all you want

I've got to let you know

INXS 'Need you tonight'
My favourite song at the moment this (it's a seasonal thing):
Cool town, evening in the city
Dressing so fine and looking so pretty
Cool cat, looking for a kitty
Gonna look in every corner of the city
Till I'm wheezing like a bus stop
Running up the stairs, gonna meet you on the rooftop
But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright
And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights

ok, this is really too easy;)
Many's the time I've been mistaken,
and many times confused
Yes, and I've often felt forsaken,
and certainly misused.
Ah, but I'm all right, I'm all right.
I'm just weary to my bones.
Still you don't expect to be bright and bonvivant,
so far away from home,
so far away from home. ...

Y
ou're sweet as a honeybee
But like a honeybee stings
You've gone and left my heart in pain
All you left is our favorite song
The one we danced to all night long
It used to bring sweet memories
Of a tender love that used to be
Ah, oh a sentimental fool am I
To hear a old love song
And wanna cry
But the melody keeps haunting me
Reminding me how in love we used to be
Keep hearing the part that used to touch our hearts
Saying together forever
Darling, breaking up never
Precious memories keep a lingering on
Every time I hear our favorite song
Now you've gone
Left this emptiness
I only reminisce the happiness we spent
We used to dance to the music
The Four Tops - "It's the same old song"
" So sweet, so beautiful
Everyday like a queen on her throne
Don't nobody knows how she feels
.......... Lady one day it will be real
She moves, she moves like a breeze
I swear I can't get her out of my dreams
To have her shining right here by my side
I'd sacrifice all the tears in my eyes
She holds her child to her heart
Makes her feel like she is blessed from above
Falls asleep underneath her sweet tears
Her lullaby fades away with his tears
She needs somebody to lean on
Someone body, mind & soul
To take her hand, to take her world
And show her the time of her life, so true
Throw the pain away for good
No more contemplating boo
Lord knows the way she feels
Everyday in his name she begins
To have her shining here by my side
I'd sacrifice all the tears in my eyes

Sounded sad upon the radio
He moved a million hearts in mono
Our mothers cried and sang along and who'd blame them
Now you're grown, so grown, now I must say more than ever

And we can sing just like our fathers
..., well I swear (what he means)
At this moment, you mean everything
With you in that dress my thoughts I confess

Sunk in smoke dried faces

Girl meets boy on Thursday night
Boy was high, girl fly like kite
They hold hands until next day

Erection brings bad boy joys
Boy thinks of that big fat back
Big black fat love, big black fat
Girl calls boy to stand him up on Saturday

Yo, slip your butt to the fix of this mix

The following song I know only from Polanski´s ´Frantic´ starring Harrison Ford:
........
Strange, he shadows me back home,
Footsteps echo on the stones,
Rainy nights, an hustling boulevard,
Parisian music, drifting from the bars,
.....
Dance in bars and restaurants,
Home with anyone who wants,
Strange he's standing alone,
Staring eyes chill me to the bone.

You are the flame in my heart
You light my way in the dark
You are the ultimate star
You lift me from up above
Your unconditional love
Takes me to paradise
You make my life complete
You make me feel so sweet
You make me feel so divine
Your soul and mind are entwined
Before you I was blind
But since I've opened my eyes
And with you there's no disguise
So I could open up my mind
I always loved you from the start
But I could not figure out
That I had to do it everyday
So I put away the fight
Now I'm gonna live my life
Giving you the most in every way............

gimme danger little stranger,

"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth."
"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."
