View Full Version : Season 2004/2005 (transfers/rumours/news)
I think we will buy a Goalkeeper, left-back, right-back, 1 or 2 midfielders of varying skill and 2 strikers.
I think the right-back is the most difficult to call. We definately need another one to (a) help out Cafu and (b) replace Simic. Simic has been good for us, but i don't think he offers what we need now, which is a shame as he doesn't moan about not playing that often. So here's a list, Mesto, Cassetti, Oddo, Bonera ... who do you pick ? It's a tough tough call, all have their qualities. Bonera is solid, but i don't think attacking enough, would probably make a much better CB. Oddo is almost identical to Cafu but he's 30 already, the other 2 don't have the experience.
It's exciting to imagine, roll on the summer :D
I think when Cafu leaves we should get Mancini from Roma, he has already replaced him in the Roma team and will do so in the Brazil side. Lets face it neither are known for their defencive qualities. Cafu is better in this respect, but Mancini is young and has plenty of time to improve. ;)
A major contribution from Cafu is is his running and the options he provides on the right. Pirlo can always rely on him to be on the right wing in counter attacks. The likes of Bonera would be a disaster. With Mancini his crossing and shooting are better than Cafu, while Cafu is better at defending.

well i also thought he would be a great replacement but in an italian forum a milanista posted it and all the roman fans said he is horrible as right back.
Yeah, but the Romans dont have gatusso covering him when he goes forward. Roma's team is all about the front 3 and the DM tackleing and spraying the ball around. While Milan are heavily reliant on its fullbacks who are well covered by Seedorf and Gatusso. Ancelotti has proven him self to be a tactical genious, im sure he could accomadate Mancini.

well that would be great. his offensive skills are impressive.

From Argentina, I like Pablo Zabaleta as a right-back. He is young, charismatic, powerful, he plays in both areas....a very complete player.
He would be a good alternative, Im sure he will end up playing in one of the best teams in Europe.
Edit: Diogo, who joined River Plate this season, has surprised everyone with his play. He is agile, fast, nice dribbling and likes to play north-south. He isnt the best "defender", but he is a nice talent as well. He is joining Palermo, first, and then Juventus....or that is what they are saying here.
From the description you gave of Diogo, I can believe he is going to Juve, because Capello loves players like this

mancini should be good, gattuso should help him out defencivly, it could work.........
bonera, idk......... he sounds good.... but you guys are saying non-positive facts about him so...... somethings wrong with him.....
Aren't Oddo, Cassetti and Mesto all as attacking minded as mancini ? I think Mancini is good, don't get me wrong and he's probably better technically than the 3 i mentioned, however a right-back's first job is to defend and then to attack, not the other way round. I think Bonera is improving, but he doesn't strike me as a guy to go galloping up the wing beating players. When i read the match reports, Cassetti usually has a hand in alot of crosses and shots going in ... plus he would surely be cheaper ? I don't think our relationship with Roma is that great, so they'd want alot of money for him.
A right backs job is to defend when he has Christiano Ronaldo playing as a right winger infront of him, but in the Milan system our right back plays behind Gatusso, so he is needed to provide an attacking option while Gatusso compensates for the fact that Pirlo, Seedrof, Kaka and Rui Costa (all playmakers)who are in the same team at once :)
The way I see it, if we want to replace a Cafu who is succesful in our system, and we want to keep the same system then we should replace Cafu with as similar a player as possible. Otherwise Stam is 10 times the player any of those mentioned will ever be and no one is saying Stam should take over from Cafu. But I cant remember us ever being even linked to mancini which is hard to understand. :p157:

Agree with you my freind! We can buy or Mancini or Belleti! Now I want Belleti a litle bit more than Mancini! :w155:
But Belleti can't defend at all ! :D
I've always said that our full-backs are the most important positions in the side, but they still have to be able to defend .... that is after all their priority no matter who they play in front of.
You'll hear no argument from me that we need to place like for like, Jankulovski (if/when we get him) will be the ideal left-back and someone of Cafu's ilk will also be needed. I still think Cassetti or Oddo would be the better choices in terms of price and overall defensive/attacking ability :)
i would go for daniel alves maybe... or oddo
Is Jose Mari still ours ? Or did we actually sell him to Atletico Madrid ?
Anyway, he has scored twice so far for Villareal :D
:D Alves is a player and a half, ask R.Carlos. He dominated him in a couple of games that I saw. I agree with jim UK on Belletti thoguh

And again yesterday. I am happy for Jose Mari, I allways liked him. He allways tried his best, even if he didn't succed at Milan.
haha, that's what i meant Henrik ... that he scored twice yesterday in his game for Villareal :D
Anyway, about Belletti ... Barca drew 3 - 3 with Betis, so maybe his defensive skills aren't that great after all ... kidding :D
haha, that's what i meant Henrik ... that he scored twice yesterday in his game for Villareal :D
I beleive he had only scored twice in La Liga before the 2 goals yesterday. Anyway, Villareal is a fun team with the likes of Jose Mari, Forlan, Sorin and Riquelme spicing things up :)
Gio scored against Betis yesterday! I like Gio 2! what you will say abt him???
Gio is good, can defend ok and attack well ... but hopefully we'll have Jankulovski ... which will be fantastic
i love gio, i think his form dropped from the start of the season, and jankulvski is better... but when on fire gio can be the worlds best

if i understood what u said incorrectly then i appologize but i think that what u said is mean and horrible ... sheva is an icon for the club, no different than van basten, gullit, rijkaard, even baresi maldini and costacurta.... i would never sell him if i were milan and i would love to see him retire here even if his form drops which i hope it doesnt!

Well, if he declines as he is supposed to, then you need to replace him. If he wants to stay as a bench player or 3rd alternative, then OK. We wont play him just because he is an icon.

It will be stupid mistake to sell him! :rocky:

A bit off topic, but I want to ask if anyone know smth about a brand new Porto's transfer - Lucho Gonzalez form River Plate?

Roma's Situation Dramatic-Chivu
4/18/2005 3:59:00 PM
AS Roma defender Cristian Chivu is extremely worried about the Giallorossi’s current situation, and if things continue this way will leave the club at season’s end.
“We risk a lot, maybe unthinkable things. From now on we must look behind us because if things continue like this we could end up in Serie B,” he said in today’s press conference before attacking the club’s management.
“It has been a disastrous season. Don’t ask me if I’m staying at Roma next year. There are no certainties in life, I just know I have a contract binding me to the club. If the Roma management gave me some guarantees it would be easier to take decisions, but the club has been absent this year. A demonstration is how the club has abandoned Matteo Ferrari. He has been attacked by everyone this season, but for me he has always been one of the best on the pitch,” said the Romanian defender.
“The club needs a project. Some equilibrium. First of all an internal reference point is totally missing. Last year it was Capello, now this person is missing,” he added.
“Nothing is clear now, management should already be thinking about next season, but nobody knows what is going on,” he concluded.
If Chivu ends up leaving Roma he will probably end up joining either Inter or Juve.
Roma have lost four out of their last five games, and stand seven points away from the relegation zone.
Issue: Goal.com (http://www.goal.com/NewsDetail.aspx?idNews=57453&idSez=20) Bad situation in Rome, though it is good for us... I mean Chivu :u125: :D
Can you a bit more clearer :D
fast good on the ball skilful best out on the wing or playing off a target man
I think now Milan must concider on younger players like Cassano, Gilla, etc!

hey we need pirlo backup ... and the rumour said that ... baronio linked with milan for Pirlo backup ...
and i think we need two good young defender ... first right side and second for centre back ... we already lost colo ... ok ... don't think always about attacker ... we just need gila huheuheuh ... but what we really need is in the defender side .. cause our defender we've had almost all veteren except for Nesta, Kaladze, and Simic (when the last time simic play ??) ...
and in middle side we need a deep fantasia like pirlo ... and i think baronia can play in that position ... xavi is better but ... he's too expensive and barcelona wiill never sell him ....
Then maybe we can try Megni as MF?
meghni is really one for the future... definatly future zidane

Milan Reveal Gerrard Interest
5/22/2005 1:48:00 PM
AC Milan have revealed an interest in England midfielder Steven Gerrard just days ahead of their Champions League final against Liverpool.
The two teams meet in Istanbul on Wednesday and Carlo Ancelotti is full of praise for Liverpool's captain and inspiration.
"Steven Gerrard is a great player," he told the Sunday Express newspaper.
"Right now he is a Liverpool player and I am not going to upset Liverpool by talking any more about him.
"But it will be different if he decides in the summer that he wants to leave."
He added: "He is undoubtedly one of the best midfield players in the world.
"Of course, any top club would want him in their side. I like him very much - he is a wonderful player."
Gerrard has previously been linked with moves to Chelsea and Real Madrid.

This has nothing to do with us, but i couldn't believe it !
Van der Vaart has signed for Hamburg and the deal is believed to be around 5.5 million EUROS !!!!!!!!!!!!! :wth:  How cheap is that ??!!??!! That's a cheaper price (if the quote is accurate) than Lazio want for Oddo !!!!!
We could have sold Rui Costa and bought VdV as cover/competition for Kaka's place.
could it be that the whole of Europe has sussed out that hes not as good as hes made out to be?
Oliver Kahn as the reserve goalkeeper

Are we going after Iaquinta or Gilardino? Im confused.

Gila seems to be the main target and latest rumours suggest we might be on the look out for RvN in case talks with Parma fail.
Iaquinta is believed to be our back up plan in case Milan and Chelsea don't reach an agreement for Crespo.
So, basically we are after both of them only Gila is a main target while Iaquinta is more of a plan-B for us, at least at this point.

Depor Set To Sign Milan Pair - Report
6/3/2005 12:24:00 PM
Spanish daily Marca are reporting that Deportivo La Coruna are on the verge of signing Milan duo Jon Dahl Tomasson and Vikash Dhorasoo.
Paulo Futre, Milan’s representative in Spain, and Depor president Caesar Augusto Lendoiro have been working on the deals for weeks now and it seems that a solution has now almost been found.
Deportivo are in dire need of squad reinforcements after a poor season in La Liga where they failed to qualify for Europe.
Both Tomasson and Dhorasoo failed to hold down regular places in the Milan first-team this season and will welcome the chance of regular football.
