Our supporters will go to Sardinia by boat, i don't even imagine how loud it will be. Unfortunately no one want/can to come, to me would be so funny! The problem is it takes 2 days round trip
On boat must be amazing!

I think Nesta and Maldini should be given a rest, they haven't had the best start this season. Let's try Stam alongside Coloccini and show that every player, even if his name is Nesta or Maldini, must perform well to keep their place in the team. It's not like we're lacking in options...

Milan need a win, no less.

What else we need is a solid backline that won't leak goals, as this is by far our biggest problem at the moment.

FORZA MILAN!!!!!!!!

Well... I have newer read a pre-match theme, where someone wrote it is ok to lose. So against Cagliari 3 points is again important .. but they are very strong home .. so it will be difficult.

id like to see crespo & shev start for this one, with kaka behind. stam and nesta at the back with kaladze and cafu as wingbacks. rino, pirlo & seedorf running the midfield :D

I hope that Rui Costa is played again, he did very well in the last game. Sheva is on fire and may very well be partnered with Pippo.

Is Stam fit to play?

From channel 4 website good news and pretty funny too about transfer to real:

Cagliari return for Stam Thursday 7 October, 2004

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan are confident that Jaap Stam will be available for the Week 6 trip to surprise package Cagliari.

The summer signing from Lazio has been sidelined for the last few weeks with injury but he is close to full recovery.

"Stam is well on the road to full fitness and it shouldn’t be too long now," said Milan medic Jean Pierre Meersseman.

"He is doing fine and there shouldn’t be any problems. He is very hopeful of being available for the game against Cagliari."

The San Siro giants look like they certainly need him after a shaky start to the new season defensively.

The side have often been caught out on set-pieces and the stopper’s imposing figure should certainly help to rectify that problem.

However, Stam’s name has today been linked with Real Madrid who are allegedly planning a January swoop.

The Madrid outfit apparently want Stam and are ready to make a £13m offer, or £6.5m plus Roberto Carlos.

The chances of that move though seem pretty slim given that the former Man Utd ace has only just arrived in Milan.

looks pretty tempting :)

Madrid are desperate of having a tough defender. :yuck:

Cagliari certainly have highly motivated and would like to follow the track as what Messina did to us. That would have worried me about. If we wins, it will boost our morale to face the mid week match vs Barca to say at least, lose not in my sight as we have to play the best 11 or improved alternative ones.

i really think Sheva should be rested for this one, give a 3 way battle to see who partners him for the double header with Inter/Barca!!! Also Rui should start and rest ahead of Inter/Barca. Stam should play and get his fitness back.

Rex
13-10-2004, 12:02
Or would it be possible to fielding Dhorasso at starting line-up?

argo
13-10-2004, 12:42
IMO we will play our most possible strongest side, then replace some key players as soon as we are leading comfortably.
Our record against weaker teams this season has been far from expected. This time we should not dropped points again.
All we have to do is playing carefully and not to get any bad injuries to keep our fitness.

FORZA MILAN!!!

Though I am all for resting Sheva for this game, we should only pull him off if we are comfortably in the lead. Rui, should start, as well as Stam (if Fit) with Pipo upfront alongside Sheva.

We must win this game so as to stay in touch or equal in points with Juve, who face a tricky opponent in the newly promoted Messina, who were authors of our only defeat so far this season. The fact that Messina face Juve in Turin really has me doubting that these minnows can come away with anything but a point, so a win for us is crucial as Juve practically have the 3 points in the bag before they even take to the pitch.

The Guardian website had this preview of the Juve-Messina clash

http://football.guardian.co.uk/breakingnews/feedstory/0,14546,-4550126,00.html

All three of Juve's leading strikers are injured.

French international David Trezeguet is expected to be out for three months after opting to have surgery on his left shoulder.

Alessandro Del Piero is recovering from tendonitis and will probably not even make the bench against Messina. He could also miss Juve's Champions League home game against Bayern Munich on October 19.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic played the last half an hour of Sweden's 4-1 win over Iceland on Wednesday but said he was still suffering from recurrent back pain.

So in effect, they will have a problem scoring....The most likely solution would be to play Uruguayan Marcelo Zalayeta up front and push European Player of the Year Pavel Nedved forward into a supporting role. With defender Igor Tudor and midfielder Mauro Camoranesi also recovering from muscle strains, Capello must fill gaps in every area of the pitch, and if Messina reproduce their recent form, they stand a good chance of claiming their third illustrious scalp of the season.

Our focus however must be on winning against Cagliari on Sunday, which incidentally can be viewed on ESPN International for those of us lucky enough to get that wonderful channel. I hope we will get the opportunity to rest players such as Kaka, Sheva, and Pirlo, and that Rui gets a much deserved start.

Being at home, Cagliari may be under pressure from the home crowd, and their coach to attack, which will result in greater space for our attacking players to utilise.

FORZA MILAN!...no predictions, I just want a win...controversial, narrow, overwhelming or emphatic, I just want 3 points from this fixture.

:rone: :3band:

13-10-2004, 20:06
thats right Warro, 3 points will do.....although I wouldn't mind if our defenders don't allow any goals this time ;) ....this is the lineup I think we are going to see (considering injuries):

Dida

Cafu - Sandro - San Paolo - KK

Rino - Pirlo - Clarence

Kaka

Sheva - Pippo

Most probably Rui, Pancaro and JDT will come in for KK, Pippo and Kaka at some point....but then again it all depends on how the match is going.

Man it's been a week and a half since Milan played but it feels like I haven't seen them play for years lol.
I can't wait for this match, and then we have Barca and Inter too!

I'm pretty sure Carlo will field our usual line-up (the one Goirre posted above) for this game and then rest Sheva and Kaka if we have a comfortable lead.

Forza Milan!

I hope everything will be positive in the end.

The Guardian has this to say about one of the several Sicilian "upstarts" of this season:
http://football.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,9753,1328675,00.html

Cagliari
Points: 9
Position: 6th
The former Chelsea idol Gianfranco Zola's return to his native Sardinia helped Cagliari to win promotion to Serie A in his first season back. The 38-year-old extended his contract last summer and has potent attacking partners in the Honduras international David Suazo, rated the fastest player in Serie A, and Mauro Esposito, who has scored three goals in the first five games. 'I played in every part of Italy but winning in the south is special,' said Esposito.

Speed in a counter-attacking side is something to be concerned with, especially when your centre-backs are not speed-merchants...

I expect 3 points though, though it might be a close run thing..... :p146:

I`m looking forward to 3 points in this game but i must confess that i find these southerns rather tricky to play against..especially away.
However i think we mustn`t let them have the ball possesion for a longer period of time cos then they will definitely put pressure on our defence(naturally) and then our chances to conceed a goal are very high bearing on mind they have zola who is still excellent player although in his late 30s.On the other hand we`ve been excellent in away games from the beginning of the season.....that surely means something. In Sheva we trust:D

I`ve seen Juventus against Udinese and Messina - It can`t simply be true that they are going to win the scudetto with this kind of play

But for the Cagliari match I have a good feeling .. Milan have been better and better over the last weeks before the international break, and against Barcelona and Inter they will be at their best .. so against Cagliari I expect an inform Milan team, even without some first team members.

Dida - Costacurta - Nesta - Maldini - Kaladze - Brocchi - Pirlo - Seedorf - Rui Costa - Inzaghi - Shevchenko

Kaká and Gattuso on the bench, Cafú is not in the squad to this match.

It's wise to put Brocchi and Rui there against tough small teams IMO, they will fight to death, they'll finish our task, or, at 70th min, squeezed everything out the legs of opponents.
