View Full Version : The 82 Point Thread
This thread is dedicated to keep track of Galliani's demand for 82 points. Read the story:
The Rossoneri are slowly getting into gear this season, but Vice-President Adriano Galliani wants nothing less than 82 points in their remaining 34 games.
“We are getting used to the new 20-team Serie A,” smiled the director, “so this Sunday our season really begins and I want the same 82 points we earned last year. Obviously, that’s in addition to seven we already have. That is our budget.”
“I grabbed Carlo Ancelotti after the 3-1 win over Celtic,” continued Galliani, “and told him we have to get back to the solid team we were last season. We have shown glimpses of that, but not for the whole 90 minutes.”

Let's keep tabs. Home team is always displayed first.

crazy galliani, hope we do it tho! :D
Galliani can do it by himself if he wants, IMO the aim is to defend our trophy...

I'm pretty sure that is Galliani's aim as well. :smileani:

82 points = winning the trophy lol
Perhaps he can persuade Berlscuni to let the side go for a training camp. in the Mid January break, like .. Bayern Munchen who are coming to Oman ;)
And, hope we do it, Galliani always says great stuff, and always happen :) (hope so)

mm...... true.......
anyway i think galliani is dreaming, those 82 points were a miracle, the record, u know.......
if we play like we did last year in the league we should win it all, and of course the team has improved...... so u know what that means..............We shall win it all!

not a miracle...but a reward for hard work and total committment...it can be done again if the same attitude is given this time.......i can see it happening too

I don't really mind the 82 point comment, but what I thought was interesting was that he is demanding the solid team, which I think is what we need most right now, as were leaking goals far too often.

Pts: 6/82

it's only possible once in a few years....Galliani knows that.
But he also knows that it is very hard to get that motivation and inspiration back in the team, so he gave the players a bit pep talk.

well, so far we are in track to get those 82 points. we have played 23.5% of those 34 matches....and we got 22% of the 82 points...so far so good. The problem is that Juve is running too fast....that of course, will be fixed when we play them ;)

Dec 18: Juventus 0 - Milan 0
Pts: 28/82 ** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 12/34
Position on table: 2
Total points: 35
Scorers: -
Heading into the X'mas break, Milan are 34.16% of the way to attaining 82 points. They have played 35.3% of the games. Hence, they are 1.14% behind schedule. Not too bad. They absolutely deserved a result against Juve and that should have put them on track. However, Juve showed up with an additional man on the field as always (the ref) and Milan couldn't win against odds like that - no matter how good you play.
Happy holidays! See ya in January 2005!
Week 17
Jan 6: Milan 5 - 2
Pts: 31/82 *** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 13/34
Position on table: 2
Total points: 38
Scorers: Crespo (3), Shevchenko, Tomasson
Crespo scores his first hat-trick for Milan as Kaka and Dhorasso run the show in the midfield. Shevchenko turns provider by assisting Crespo's third goal and JDT's late strike. Juve - watch out. We're coming to get you!
Week 18
Jan 10: Palermo 0 - Milan 0
Pts: 32/82 *** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 14/34
Position on table: 2
Total points: 39
Scorers: -
Milan come back down to earth against a resilient Palermo who had no intention of giving the Champions an inch. Entertaining nonetheless. The game was noteworthy for a candidate for save-of-the-season by Dida.
Week 19
Jan 16: Milan 3 - Udinese 1
Pts: 35/82 *** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 15/34
Position on table: 2
Total points: 42
Scorers: Shevchenko, Jankulovski (og), Kaka
Juve slip up in their game against Cagliari as Milan close the gap by beating 3rd placed team Udinese. Kaka in breathtaking form. Udinese gave Milan a real game and Milan came out winners because Udinese didn't stack up the defense - they actually attacked - and that left them open to attacks.
Week 19
Pts: 35/82 *** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 15/34
If we win the next 2 games, against Livorno away & Bologna at home, we'll be right on track for the 82 points, having played 17 out of 34, with 41 points from the target of 82 set.
:3band:
Week 20
Jan 23: Livorno 1 - Milan 0
Pts: 35/82 *** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 16/34
Position on table: 2
Total points: 42
Scorers: -
Sadly, I didn't see the game but from the reports, the refereeing was atrocious. Not to make excuses for Milan's loss because Milan should have won against this small side. The losses against Messina and Livorno were basically 6 points thrown away - which is huge considering Juve are ahead by 5 points at this point. If Milan had won both the Messina and Livorno games, they would have been ahead of the table by now. Will Milan rise above this? I know they will :D
This game is noteworthy for one reason - Donadoni facing his old friends at Milan. Here is the article from acmilan.com:
Donadoni turns in Jekyll and Hyde performance
1/23/2005 6:50:00 PM
The laws of football have always attempted to distance the professional from the fan, to keep them typecast in their roles and within their own sphere of existence: one all reserved and focused, the other full of emotion and free of the codes laid down on the pitch. Roberto Donadoni revealed the Jekyll and Hyde nature of the game in his post-match interview following Livorno’s win over Milan. Doctor Jekyll came out when he spoke as coach of a side who had gained maximum points from his two games in charge, commenting with pride on his players’ performance, emphasizing their desire to win and the dynamism and the concentration they showed throughout the ninety minutes. Mr Hyde made an appearance when Robbie, who has always been one of the most balanced and down-to-earth people in football, expressed his regret that the hard-fought three points that his side won would only bring disappointment to the Rossoneri fans. Those self same followers of the club would no doubt agree that if three points must be dropped it is best that they go to Robbie who has once again shown his true sporting character. It also allows us to look back on the wonderful years of service that the former midfield star put in for the Rossoneri shirt from 1986 to 1999. The lights may have gone out in Carlo Ancelotti’s side after Kaka hit the post but they continued to shine brighly in the eyes of one Rossoneri who will always remain forever in the hearts of every Milan fan.
horrible Week 21
Jan 31: Milan 0 - Bologna 1
Pts: 35/82 *** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 17/34
Position on table: 2
Total points: 42
Scorers: -
Sheva suffers a serious injury in the game and even though Milan lay siege to the Bologna goal with 19 shots, they are unable to overturn former Rossoneri Locatelli's goal. Early diagnosis says Sheva will be out for 2 weeks. Hopefully this is true but I doubt it.
:pchate:
Week 22
Feb 2: Messina 1 - Milan 4
Pts: 38/82 *** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 18/34
Position on table: 2
Total points: 45
Scorers: Crespo (2), JDT (2)
The team come together to make sure that Milan won't suffer without Sheva. Crespo and Tomasson renew hope in the scudetto with a brace each while Juve fall to Sampdoria. Milan rise from the ashes again ;)
Week 23
Feb 6: Milan 2 - Lazio 1
Pts: 41/82 **** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 19/34
Position on table: 2
Total points: 48
Scorers: Shevchenko, Crespo
The game will forever be known as the Orgasm game cus probably half the members of Milanmania orgasmed when Crespo scored that goal in the 94th minute sending shockwaves throughout Italy as Milan make their ominous move towards slaying Juve's title ambitions. Also noteworthy is Sheva's return from injury marked by a SUPERB freekick!

Another late late strike by Milan courtesy of the Concorde, Serginho, lands Milan top spot. A huge psychological blow to Juve.

You guys all write the number of played games up against the total of 34 games.. We're playing 38 games this season, you know.. 20 teams minus 1, times 2.. 38.

Week 26
Feb 28: Perdenti FC 0 - Milan 1
Pts: 50/82 ***** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 22/34
Position on table: 1
Total points: 57
Scorers: Kaka
Milan end Perdenti FC's unbeaten run, which was not that impressive in the first place, considering that they tied most of their games. Milan also end Inter's title hopes with this scrappy "away" win. The Black and Blue team threw on all they had at the end and effectively played with 4 strikers but came up against a very disciplined Milan defence. Milan show that they are well capable of stringing together wins without their talisman - the ukrainian bomber Shevchenko.
Week 27
Feb 28: Atalanta 1 - Milan 2
Pts: 53/82 ***** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 23/34
Position on table: 1
Total points: 60
Scorers: Ambrosini, Pirlo
Another last minute win for Milan. :guw: :)
{B]Week 28[/B]

Pts: 56/82 ***** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 24/34
Position on table: 1
Total points: 63
Scorers: Kaka
Milan show once again that they are far from impotent without the Ukrainian bomber Shevchenko. Kaka scores the winning goal from a brilliant cross from Pirlo. Sampdoria are resiliant and strong but Milan come away victors. Nesta and Maldini had to come off due to injuries.
Week 29
March 21: Roma 0 - Milan 2
Pts: 59/82 ***** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 25/34
Position on table: 1
Total points: 66
Scorers: Crespo, Pirlo
Juve struggle to beat Reggina while Milan entertain and slaughter Roma in Bruno Conti's debut for Roma. Roma end with 9 men as Totti and former Milan man Panucci were sent off. Shevchenko is hardly missed!
Week 30
April 10: Milan 1 - Brescia 1
Pts: 60/82 ****** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 26/34
Position on table: 1
Total points: 67
Scorers: Rui Costa
Milan are let off the hook after Juve tie 3-3 to Fiorentina. Milan should have wrapped this game up after some dominating plays in the first half and a shocking miss by Dane JDT in front of goal. Brescia made us pay for not scoring the second goal by tying the game late on. Milan and Juve still locked in a tie on top of the table. Clearly both teams had the CL game on their minds. On a positive note, Rui Costa scored an absolute stunner - his first goal since he scored for Portugal against England in Euro 2004. :pr115:
On another positive note, Sheva's first game in Serie A after his horrific facial injury. :pp20:
Week 31
April 18: Siena 2 - Milan 1
Pts: 60/82 ****** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 27/34
Position on table: 2
Total points: 67
Scorers: Crespo
All credit to Siena who fought back from a goal down - something that teams like Inter and Man Utd were unable to do to Milan. Juve break away and reopen a 3 point lead over Milan, but as Ancelotti said after the game, Milan overcame a 8 point deficit in one week, so 3 points is very doable. The head to head against Juve seems very important now.
Week 32
April 20: Milan 1 - Chievo 0
Pts: 63/82 ****** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 28/34
Position on table: 1
Total points: 70

Back on level terms with Juve and Milan win and Juve lost to Inter. Never thought I would say this but THANK YOU INTER MERDA! :)

Pts: 66/82 ****** Every * signifies 10 points
Game: 29/34
Position on table: 1
Total points: 73
Scorers: Kaka', Tomasson, Cafu
The pressure is on Juve now as Milan take sole position of the numero uno spot in the scudetto race. Some points about this game:
1) Cafu scores his first for Milan this season
2) Pippo Inzaghi returns from injury - again.

we won't make the 82 points now, we can only make 81, but i don't care as long as we finish 1 ahead of juve thats all that matters. also we should have wrapped this title up long ago, we have dropped at least 15 points more than we should have.
doesn't matter. this thread is great for keeping track of games :)
81 is good enough for me. :) What's important is that if we get 81, we get the scudetto. :)

Check the first page of the thread for the explaination of how Nadir is counting the points. 88 is the maximum points we can achieve, but not when adjusting for the longer season this year.
Week 35

Game of the season, watched in 180 countries, but Milan fail to show the world why red and black are better than white and black. Poor communication between Stam and Maldini led to Trezeguet being left wide open to head a goal past Dida. Pippo almost equalized twice. Three games left in the season and Juve have a 3 point lead. Keep believing in the boys...forza Milan!
And with Milan's tie with Lecce and Juve's win against Parma, the title race is pretty much over. Congratulations to Juventus on the scudetto.
And with Milan's tie with Lecce and Juve's win against Parma, the title race is pretty much over. Congratulations to Juventus on the scudetto.
I wouldn't congratulate Dopers. They will remain on top of my hate lists for a long time to come.
I will just face the music and accept the reality. FORZA MILAN!!
P.S. We now have 70 points from 32 games. To think we won the 98-99 Scudetto with 70 points out of 34 games.
I wouldn't congratulate Juventus either. They start off with a ten-point advantage every season, so winning is no big deal for them. I don't mind congratulating Lazio and Roma on their recent scudettos, or Milan for the win last year. :D
Me too, I wouldnt congratulate cheaters, cuz for obivous reasons. They have referee back up in many games especially when a situation was critical to dopers. Just remember that Chievo goal... :frustrat:
you guys are acting like inter fans. don't be sore losers. even juve congratulated us when milan won.

BTW good analysis on the point sytem rationale you posted earlier! I dont know how some people couldnt figure it out. Pretty much balls on accurate give or take a point.

Another game where Milan thought they won the game before the 90th minute was signaled. This poor attitude bodes horribly for the CL final. Let's hope Milan play for the whole 90 mins.
