Date: 8 Sep 1996
Venue: Stadio San Siro (Milano, Italia)
Cast: George Manneh Oppong Ousman Weah
Opponents: Verona

Script: Milan were defending a corner against Verona. A long cross from the right missed the Verona forwards, the entire Milan defence and landed on the feet of Weah. Weah took off like an Olympic sprinter off the blocks, running the entire length of the San Siro pitch, from one penalty box to the other, beating 4 challenges along the way, before coolly slotting the ball pass the keeper into the net. Magnifico!!! Total time taken: 14 seconds. One of the BEST ever goals witnessed by the San Siro faithful. One which may never again be seen at the Stadio San Siro.

:1ole:

Wait! Did I say never again be seen??
Well not quite. :delol:

Date: 17 Oct 2004
Venue: Stadio San Siro (Milano, Italia)
Cast: Adriano Leite Ribeiro
Opponents: Udinese

Script: Inter were defending a corner against Udinese and Veron stretched out a foot and diverted the ball towards Adriano. Adriano picked up the ball and with a quick change of direction, left Felipe on his arse. While Adriano was in full flight towards the Udinese goal, Bertotto and Jankulovski tracked back in an attempt to rob the ball off him. The young Brazilian brushed past them with a body feint to the right before going to the left and sent the ball crashing into the top right corner for his 2nd goal of the afternoon! GOLAZO!!! Box to box resemblance of Weah's goal in 1996.

Adriano's 1st was a stunner too! A stupendously powerful freekick struck from 35m which would have left the legendary Rivellino, Roberto Carlos, and his other Brazilian cannonball compatriots drooling with delight.

Without doubt, the 2 goals are serious contenders if not THE GOALS of the season!

(And I can't believe I'm enjoying goals scored by an Inter player!!! :eekani: )

Adriano received the ball from Veron just outside his own penalty box. Not exactly "Box to Box" (If you want to be really exact :devf: ), but still he ran the full length of the San Siro pitch, beating challenges on his way, before hammering the ball home! GOLAZO!!!! Resemblance of Weah's goal in 1996!

And for those curious to see this goal, it's available at Inter's official site. :grinser:

weah's goal was perhaps better and I dont think i ll ever forget. i remember watching the match on channel 4. we went a goal down in that match but in the 2nd half we were senstional. george weah was the best player in the world then. Adriano is now the world's greatest player in my opinion. he has got it lot power pace dribbling skills and a lethal left foot. any of ye see his 360 degree turn nutmeg against valencia tonight. he's out of this world. Im praying nesta plays the game of his life sunday.

Both were great goals, and it's difficult to judge which goal was better.

Weah's goal was a combination of speed, finesse, trickery and some luck. I said luck because Weah momentarily lost control of the ball while evading 2 challenges at the centre circle, before recovering to jink his way past his markers with a tiny dragback followed by a 180 degree spin. Weah beat his final marker by pushing the ball to right of his marker, while he went to the left, before firing home when he was one-on-one with the keeper. Magical!

Adriano's goal was a combo of body feints and directional changes. His first change of direction came in the centre circle. Felipe, who was the nearest marker, was taken by surprised by Adriano's sudden change of direction, and before Felipe can change direction to follow Adriano, the momentum of his earlier backward run to follow the Brazilian has already sent him crashing to the ground. And while Adriano was approaching the D, he did a couple of body feints to the right before brushing off his 2 markers to the left and fired home a laser-perfect shot. What made it more impressive was that Adriano was running at speed with all the jinking & body feints, while maintaining close control of the ball (The ball was no further than half a metre away from his feet throughout!). Fantastic stuff!

And I'm curious if there will ever be a 3rd goal of such quality at the San Siro in future. :devf:
One such goal from Sheva this weekend in the derby would be perfect! :delol: :grinser:

Best in the world? Probably, and he could be an outside bet to win the Ballon D'or (Explosive start for Inter, Copa America Winner and Top Scorer). Agreed on his 360 degree move. Simply Magnifico! He dribbled the ball into Valencia's box, and in 1 sweeping movement; stopped the ball with his left foot, did a 360 degree spin and got pass his marker with a gentle caress of the stationary ball with his right foot. A trademark Zidane move which even the French maestro himself would have been proud of.

While it's been a good day for both Milan teams in the Champion's League (and a sensational 24 goals scored on the night!), the best goal of the night was scored by Charles-Edouard Coridon of PSG. Armand sent in a cross into the box from the right. Coridon made his way into the box but mistimed his run. He appeared to have missed the ball as it went behind him. With a great piece of improvisation, Coridon dived and launched his body forward, connected the ball with the back of his heel while in midair and directed the ball into goal!! You can say Vitor Baia made a half-arse attempt in saving that shot but still it was a spectacular goal.

And while Coridon scored the goal of the night, the phuck-up of the night goes to Jens Lemon!! I'll spare him from his embarassment, just watch the highlights! :delol: And finally I know what is meant by a Lemon-faced expression. :devf:
