Is there a protest going on?

Lombardia

nope, its just that the juve ground is for want of another word, crap. nobody likes it, the players, the fans or the tv guys, the reason why?

well the stadium was built as a multi purpose stadium originally, so it could accomodate athletics, hockey etc. this meant that a 10-lane track was placed around the field, making the seats in the stadium, even if you get a good one, too far away from the field to see the action, apparently its like watching subteo men from only the second tier! so thats why not many turn up for games unless its a massive one, like a cl semi or agaisnt us or inter, roma etc.

plus juve is like man u, most of the supporters in the city support the other club( ;) ) and so there are probably less juve fans in torino then virtually anywhere else in italy!

the big 'joke' in italy is that juve would play in sold out stadiums every week anywhere in italy except for the exact place they are in now!

Do they share their stadium too?

That's bollocks about Manchester people though...

We outnumber City fans two to one.

Who are the true Milanese team?

Lombardia
18-12-2004, 16:40
yes with torino

i agree and i know but i couldn't help myself making a joke towards man u!! :)

and milan is the true milanese team, inter was formed a few years later

i like man u and even i have to admit juve are the man u of italy. scattered fans, dodgey refereeing, hated by every other team.

lombardia is the state/county where milan is the capital of, its also where i come from, hence my nick,

Milan4eva

Isn't Milan a state itself? Or is it just a city?

tardelli_jr
21-12-2004, 00:02
milan is a city, thats all, its the centre of and largest city in the province of lombardia

italy itself is made up of many provinces, which come together to form the nation

lazio too is the name of the province where the team originates, ie around rome :D

that is where my family are origionally from

there are smaller regional districts within these provinces, but most people just use the name of the province when talking about an area

hope that answers your question

Liverpool-Juve
Very successful, but drab, defensive and extremely boring.

Arsenal-Inter
Overrated. Never play as a team, well, at least Wenger's Arsenal never do.
Also, they have a history of employing extremely thuggish players. examples: Wright, Parlour, Adams, Merson, Sunderland etc. etc...

When do Juve-fans ever turn up? Look at Delle Alpi, the world's crappiest atmosphere, cause' there is nobody there...ever.

Utd and Juve are similar only because they are successful..

scattered fans - Utd have 50m + fans around the globe so obviously they cant all come from Manchester :D but Utd ARE the biggest team in Manchester...If City are "the peoples club" then where are all the people when they arent playing a top 4 side???

Dodgy refereeing - bigger sides have more media coverage and therefore any dubious incident get highlighted far more. This also works against Utd, for example Rooney got a 3 game ban for "hitting" an opponent. The very same day in a televised match Solano did exactly the same thing to Robben but because nobody really cares about Villa players that incident had been forgotten in 5 minutes

hated by every other team - fair enough, but is it Utd or their success that is really hated? in the 80's Liverpool were hated for the same thing. Look at the hated teams list and most people have Real near the top  neutral fans prefer underdogs to champions, thats why everyone loves Rocky ! ;)

Not bad points, but a big reason for the juve empty stadium situation is that at the begining of their history juve were known as the travelers (any italians please correct me if im wrong). This was due to the fact that they didn't have a home town or stadia and basically do what the england team does now. As such they created a wide spread fan base from all over italy. When the eventually set up shop in turin all the people of that area were all ready torino fans! Hence why they do not have that many local fans.
Also as stated, the delle alpi is a cold dark horror of a stadia so why would you bother traveling distance to go somewhere you hate?

I don't care if Juve get more media coverage it is a damn fact they are helped by the referees, and everyone who has eyes darn well knows that.

United and Juve are twins in different countries. It is widely acknowledged by the Juve and Utd. fans alike.

-> Both clubs have a very healthy income through merchandise.

-> Both clubs are two time winners of the European Cup although Juve has five more final losses making them Benfica Part 2. :D

-> Both clubs pay a lot of attention to balance the books and not make decisions that will make the books go negative. Juve had their first loss in many years last season and United spent this year's budget on Rooney last Summer.

-> Both clubs are second best in their countries. Milan in Italia has more European Cups and Liverpool has more European Cups in England. The difference is that Milan is alive and kicking whilst Liverpool is in a bad rut and trying to revive the old days of glory.

-> Both clubs have a huge fan base in the world but not in their native cities. Turin has more Torino fans while Juve's fans are spread all over in Italia including Lombardia which is the hub of the Milano clubs. City has more fans in Manchester while Utd. has fans spread all over England.

-> Juve has a big fan base in the Arabic countries due to the shares Gaddafi has in Juve. Plus it is popular due to Serie A coverage there. Utd. has a huge fan base in the Far East due to the extensive EPL coverage there. Both clubs are top two when it comes to worldwide fans but Milan is top in China. :proud: :3band:

Now how are Juve and Utd. not similar? :devs:

Other clubs are not similar IMO. But in success comparisons Arsenal would be Inter and Liverpool is close to Milan. I however think there is a difference but Juve and Utd. are twins who got separated at birth. :D

how many times you bin to manchester Haroon? you obviously know nothing about the supporter ratio in the city. :devs: :devs: :devs: :devs:anyway ask around you'll find most city supporters come from stockport ,bury ,bolton, hyde, radcliffe and numerous other outskirts of manchester. you can't fit over 50,000,000 plus united supporters in to manchester. would be nice though :devs: :devs: :devs: :devs: :devs:

What matters is the quality of supporters, not the quantity..

I've experienced that 7000 supporters can outshadow a whole packed stadium, and it happened for ex. at Juve- Milan of the last year and this year as well.

Juve has more supporters, but Milan ones rock everywhere. A MILANO, IN EUROPA, OVUNQUE :proud:

I am writing in defence of Manchester United. I do not like Juventus.

United and Juve are twins in different countries. It is widely acknowledged by the Juve and Utd. fans alike.

Only by people like Haroon. While Juve are a dull, boring and cynical football team, United are always exciting, and great to watch.

-> Both clubs have a very healthy income through merchandise.

The club is self-sufficient. At least the income is not pumped in by a corrupt government official. (Yes, I am talking about Silvio, and yes I do not like him).

-> Both clubs are two time winners of the European Cup although Juve has five more final losses making them Benfica Part 2.

Which is still no mean feat. Two European Cups are definitely not a bad achievement. And may I remind you that both trophies were won with a team largely made up of home-grown players. :proud:

-> Both clubs pay a lot of attention to balance the books and not make decisions that will make the books go negative. Juve had their first loss in many years last season and United spent this year's budget on Rooney last Summer.

Again, the club is independent and self-sufficient. In order to keep it running smoothly, its finances have to be managed properly.
Again, United do not have a rich, corrupt government official to bail them out if they land into financial trouble.

-> Both clubs have a huge fan base in the world but not in their native cities. Turin has more Torino fans while Juve's fans are spread all over in Italia including Lombardia which is the hub of the Milano clubs. City has more fans in Manchester while Utd. has fans spread all over England.

Which is probably the reason why City fail to fill their stadium regularly, and about one million plus fans gathered to witness United's victory parade during the Treble season IN Manchester.

Read this properly Haroon. United are OFFICIALLY the biggest club in Manchester, the biggest club in England and the biggest club in the World.

Both clubs are top two when it comes to worldwide fans

Which is never a bad thing.

United have had some of the noisiest and perhaps the most rabid supporters over the years. And they were at their noisiest in the times United needed them most (the 70s and 80s, when Liverpool were the top side).

Its true that they had mellowed during the 90s, but this year in particular they have been making themselves heard. Watch a few of United's matches. You will find that they are singing on the top of their voices throughout the match.

And they have been very vocal at every away game also this season, singing loudly enough to drown out the local supporters. And all this when the team needs them most (when thy haven't been performing as well as expected).

They may not be as "colourful" as Milan fans. But they are definitely as loud.

I never mentioned the playing styles so I don't know why you bring them?

The club is self-sufficient. At least the income is not pumped in by a corrupt government official. (Yes, I am talking about Silvio, and yes I do not like him).

I don't bring non-football matters into it. When Berlusconi bought Milan he was a billionaire and not into politics.

Same goes for Juve. Nobody stops teams from purchasing foreigners.

Where does this differentiate you from Juve?

Which is probably the reason why City fail to fill their stadium regularly, and about one million plus fans gathered to witness United's victory parade during the Treble season IN Manchester.

When you win something like a TREBLE then people do come from all over the country to celebrate. France won in 1998 and people from all over France gathered on the Champs-Elysses.

Read this properly Haroon. United are OFFICIALLY the biggest club in Manchester, the biggest club in England and the biggest club in the World.

Define biggest. When it comes to INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS United don't even make the TOP 10. Independiente, Milan, Real, Juve, Barca, Inter, Liverpool, Ajax, Bayern and Penarol are all ahead. I hope you read this properly. :D

And by the way in your ENTIRE POST you have failed to distinguish how Juve are different from United. The one point where you mentioned it was style. Other than that there is no mention of how you differentiate from Juve.

define biggest in fanbase and turnover and Utd destroy them :D sure it would be nice to add success as well but some of those teams cheated their way into the record books. Estudiantes kicked lumps out of Utd in 68 to win the World Club Cup :( Im sure this doesnt bother you but their next victims were....Milan in 69  they broke one Milan players nose and jaw  simply because he was Argentine and had scored past them in the first leg  another Milan player was hospitalised after being kicked in the stomach when on the floor

So you see, success alone doesnt make a great team, the style of the victory is important too, and when utd win they do it in style

And by the way in your ENTIRE POST you have failed to distinguish how Juve are different from United.

First of all, our success at Milan has been fuelled by Silvio's corrupt money. So the comment about not bringing "politics" into football matters just shows your hypocrisy.

Biggest as in the widest fanbase. Perhaps the most important asset for a club. The people who will pay to watch the team and keep it financially sound so that they can invest into better players whenever they need to.

And you seem to think "Utd are like Juve" and so you must dislike them. That is just childish.
Besides many of the things that you pointed out were common between Juve and United, like merchandising, fianancial management and building a fanbase, are actually good things for a football club to do.
And I sincerely hope that Milan does that also.

United are easily the worst fans in england for athmosphere and noise, chelsea being the other contender to the throne.
As for this comment "So you see, success alone doesnt make a great team, the style of the victory is important too, and when utd win they do it in style"

That comment is a joke. Winning with style only makes you stylish. Success makes you great. Now combine the two style and success and you get the Van Basten era Milan i.e. Legends.

Just because you play with style doesn't make you great. Arsenal can tell you that.

Utds away support are probably the best in England. The home support have different expectations and get nervous if Utd dont score but they are nowhere near the worst in England.

That comment is a joke. Winning with style only makes you stylish. Success makes you great. Now combine the two style and success and you get the Van Basten era Milan i.e. Legends.

combined style and success = legends, i agree with that :D

However, winning at all costs is a matter of opinion.

The example i gave was of Estudiantes. By winning the World Club Cup they officially became the best side in the world, but the tactics they used, and continued to use on Milan the next year  so degraded the trophy that for the next decade most of the European Cup winners refused to travel to South America.

Another example would be Marseille beating Milan in the European Cup final after making it easier for themselves by bribing domestic opponents to take it easy against them

As loud as the Milan fans? I don't think so. sure didnt roy keane himself have to appeal to the man utd supporters to stop eating their prawn cocktails and make some noise

Keane was comparing Utd to other English teams. Both Chelsea and Leeds have played Milan in recent times and outsung them home and away....
