Just watched the highlights of Euro 04 and even now after so much months and with cool head i must say the Sweden -Denmark 2-2 is among the most shameful matches of football of the last decade

The number of dodgy decisions by referees has been simply incredible, not only against Italy but i got to watch detailed episodes, and some referees didn't give some penalty which, if it happens in Italy, i don't know what can happen..some were very very clear.

Surely as an Italian i must say we must blame Del Piero and Vieri mistakes, but this is not a right way to conceive things..Nobody can say: you missed many chances so the other decisions didn't affect the final result..We missed them, but the other decisions didn't help at all, and just because we missed them this doesn't mean referees must deny clear penalties.

It has been a very sad page for football, and after that i won't follow the International football with the same belief and interest..
It's full of hypocracies and people make me sick such as Blatter the Blatta (in italian Big Beatle :groan: :d55:  )

Its a long time since i saw the match so i cant remember specific incidents but i was sure enough at the time that 2 - 2 would happen that i put money on it...

I dont think the players went out with a plan to cheat or anything like that but it often happens in football that if a result suits both teams then they naturally drop a few % of effort.

The 2-2 was definetly combined between Sweden and Denmark.

BUT Italy made a lot of mistakes as well, Del piero and vieri where completly sht, materazzi (no comment). Everything depended on Totti but he did what he did in the first match.

i think trappitoni was the main reason why italy didnt do well. Zannetti, Perotta, Matazerri, corradi, an unfit and out of form del piero, camonersi who wasnt exactly in the best form of his life were all stupidly selected

Sorry guys, I just don't agree with you. If you want to cheat by playing a draw you aim for 0-0 or 1-1, not 2-2. I have seen the game a couple of times and I can honestly not find any sign of foul play by the players or coaches.

The bottom line however is that Italy went out from Euro 2004 on their very own, by playing absolute crap football 4 halfs out of 6. That is simply not acceptable for a team of that calibre. That Totti/Spitti managed to make his own mark in the tournament just makes matters worse.

Anyway, I think you remember I told you before it all started Italy wouldn't make it, Denmark + Sweden to go through ;)

P.S. better luck next time; I mean that :bri:

looking at the Crapattoni latter performances and his selection it didn't take Einstein to predict it :D but i give credit when it's due, so the next time we will shut you up before you can make any prediction on Italy :haha: ;)

Yep, muscle and determination seems to trump skill and excessive hair wax use most of the time ;)

That's the score they were aiming for, but they didn't tell Tomasson, probably because he plays for Milan and would never have agreed. JDT just kept on scoring. :D So they had to let in that last, extremely pathetic goal.

JDT. Danish player of the year. Milan player. Honest guy. :proud:

No, the worse thing was that while walking around Antwerp talking about the upcoming tournament, I flirted with the idea of putting 50 Euros on Greece to win it all. I had a good feeling about them! But I took the sensible advice not to waste my money...damn.
