well done to sandro, cafu and sheva
dida and maldini deserve to be there too from milan
surprised ashley cole got in, Zambrotta is a far superior player
would have given adriano the nod over henry as well but that would be a tight call

its nestas 3rd year, somewhat suprisingly Henry is the only player to have made all 4 years

Interesting to note that Real Madrid has 0 players in that team this year. When did that happen last? 5 players from Serie A, 3 from Milan :)

believe me, i dont want to praise a gooner ;) , but Ashley Cole has been the best left back this year. Zambrotta is a better player overall because of his versatilty but measured purely left back against left back then Ashley Cole fully deserves his place.

well 38% of the poll agreed with you so maybe you are right but i still would Zambrotta as left back in any team i would manage before cole

16% for Carvalho......... what a disgrace

why a disgrace?

He won everything with Porto, played well at Euro 2004, moved for £20m and now is half of arguably the best central defensive pairing in the world. Thats not a bad season by any standards ;)

I think Cole deserved be the best in left back position this year.
In Euro, C. Ronaldo can't do anything from the left side of england.
Also with ManU jersey in Premier League..

C. Ronaldo is probably the least worthy player in that team, with several players in that position doing better during 2004. Robben probably tops my list. Maniche deserve respect for his performance in Euro 2004 and the CL, but is IMO not the best defensive midfielder around.

Let's remember though, that this is a popularity vote and nothing else. Given that perspective, it is amazing that Real Madrid had no representative in the team :)

I agree with that in a way. I was quite surprised to see him in the team but when i thought about it i couldnt really come up with a decent alternative to play right wing.

Most of the alternatives arent really right wingers, and his true competitors (Figo, Beckham, Joaquin....) havent really been better than Ronaldo.

Ronaldo being mentioned in there is a disgrace alright but look at the competition. Robben would be everyones shout but what did you know of him pre october? 99% of people will give an answer of: "nothing"

As for Carvalho I just don't know why people are knocking him. The chap is class simple as that. I am thankful however that a player i think absolutely nothing of who is pure hype no substance was overlooked: Deco. Does anyone else think he is pants?

exactly. Robben had a decent Euro 2004 but i didnt think he was as impressive as Ronaldo (and i did watch him in particular as i wanted to know what Utd had missed out on  ) He has been good since October but that is only 2 months and whatever he did in Holland last season will be disregarded because the Dutch league is not one of the "big 4"

i wouldnt go as far as pants :D but yeah, i think he is over rated..

I lost all respect for Andy Grey a few weeks back, not that I really had any to begin with, but he was going on about Deco and in Andy's own words: "This chap lets remember had an absolutely magnificent European championships" Now come on Andy lets be honest. I know you like to and have to hype everything to the point of saying the Division 3 play offs are the best football around but Deco was dire in the Euro and has been no better for Barca.
