MILAN-UDINESE, THE CALL-UPS
MILANELLO - Carlo Ancelotti has named the whole squad, apart from Dario Simic and Andrea Pirlo, for the first leg of the Italian Cup quarter-finals against Udinese on Wednesday evening at the San Siro (kick-off 9pm CET)..The players will not stay at Milanello tonight to prepare for the game, as they usually do, but they will gather tomorrow morning at 11amn CET at the Rossoneri complex.
:fero: FORZA MILAN :fero:
Maybe Inzaghi will enter in the second half!!
Im not entirely too confident for this game since it looks like Udinese are starting a strong team.
Inzaghi could play which is good. I hope he scores.

Many of the websites (Gazzetta, Tuttosport, Il Corriere, etc) are naming probable line-ups. It looks like it is a 4-3-2-1 with Rui Costa and Serginho behind Tomasson that will start. Inzaghi may be brought on in the 2nd half I am reading. It is great news that he is close to coming back. He brings a lot to the team when he plays and always annoys defenders. It will be good to see him running around again. Udinese will rest some players too this evening.

Now bologna is our next victum. just like the messina game the livorno game will not affect us in the long run. we will hit our good form again like last few games. we are terrific at home. need to work on our away form.

first things first: ratings:
(gk):abbiati 7 saved a one on one with fava but unfortunatley rebound went to udinese player, made no mistakes and didn't chicken out of anything either, nice performance
(lb):kaladze: 6,5 some nice dribbles, some times left his defenders in trouble, and his crossing was poor, but did ok
(rb):pancaro: 6 nothing spectacualr except for one shimmy, average game from him
(cb):colocinni: 4 terrible, nothing else to say, on this performance leaving milan in the near future, three times he gaved away the ball in his own half, twice he got away with it, but no the third time replaced at h-t by nesta who was calmness its self 7 for him
(cb):costacurta: 6 lack of speed brutually exposed at times, but performance was ok.
(dm):ambrosini 7: two goals but didn't impose himself on the middle, also hit the post at the end, but two goals speaks for itself.
(rm)broochi,7 full of running, a lil bit of skill but not much, def not a starter, but a graet squad player
(lm)seedorf :6,5 didn't do as much i hoped he would, that said didn't do much wrong either
(am)rui costa: 6,5 better from him compared to recent form, always wanted the ball, and didn't waste it, even if he wasn't deadly with it.
(lf) serginho 7, two free kicks, once saved well. the other a goal, looked dangerous on the left some good crosses come poor ones, but good effort.
(st)tomasson 6,5 made some good runs but didn't get the ball enough.
replacements in 2nd half:
kaka, n/a looked dangerous at the end and one great tackle saved from an udinese player saved a certain goal but not enough time on the pitch
INZAGHI, 6,5 nearly scored a 'hand of god' nearly scored the second he came on and nearly got injured aswell! promising come back from him, its great to have him back!
man of the match, hmmmm no real standouts today so mom imo ambrosini for nearly getting a hat trick!!!
in the first half, udinese pressed us like crazy and targeted colocinni and this resulted in a goal as well as severely disrupting our passing game, we took the lead early with a well placed ambro header, but 2 mins later they equalised from a set piece free kick, which di natale scored from, this was the fault of kaladze for making an unessecary foul, and for pancaro for not picking up his man.
udinese fully deserved thier h-t lead.
in the second half, nesta's arrival transformed our defence and we played better, inzaghi's return gave the team a lift and we soon scored from a serginho cross(i think) which pippo headed before de sanctis and ambro headed into the empty net, then virtually all milan pressure, serginho went close with a free kick before doing so near to the end. in the final few minutes we threated with the amrbosini post, a kaka shot raides down the wing and some graet defending by udinese.
this sets up a great return leg in the frulli, milan deserved the victoy, but it was only fair that udinese weren't further behind than they are!

great performance by ambro, credit when it's due
serginho finally at his levels, excellent performance
PIPPO :proud:
As i've always siad, Pippo may not be the most gifted player, but he's terribly dangerous, and the opposite defence comes in a rush when he's around the box like a snake.
We need him now.
Special mention for Billy and Brocchi, both excellent. Billy is timeless, the best defender i've ever seen at that age..He's much more brilliant than many youngsters (one name? Coloccini, tonight awful :rollani: :drunk: :fero: )
I've always said and back you up gio, pipo is not the most gifted but he does drag defenders all over the place and creates great positions.
3 - 2 is an ok but not a great result, 2 away goals is a good return for udinese.
but the big news for me is that pippo is back like gio and iregk i think pippo is crucial to the team. he must be a nightmare to mark never standing still and he is lethal in the box. he always gives 100% as well.
Forza Pippo

Yer well blame the two goals we conceded on ****ty Kaladze and that overrated twat Coloccini. I did not see all the match though I have the Gazzetta newspaper in front of me now and they are saying that Costacurta was getting so frustrated with Coloccini last night. I never ever thought he was that good anway. Deportivo want him that is good enough for me. He can pack his bags and go to Spain. That league is more his level. Serie A is way too technical for him.
Ambrosini did well, like Giovanni said, credit where it is due and all that. He scored twice which will be good for his confidence and hopefully it will make up a little for his performance against Livorno.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good win. We played well, especially Brocchi, Ambro, the eternal Billy and Rui.
The two conceded goals where results of disattention from a corner and for 2 consecutives individual mistakes from Kaladze (this was the only mistake he made) and Coloccini.
Super Pippo entered in the 65th minute fighting for all the balls. However on Milan's second goal he fall badly on a shoulder and this morning I heared he got some problems. :scream: (Hope its nothing serious)
PIPPO NON MOLLARE
From acmilan.com :
PIPPO FRACTURES THUMB
1/27/2005
MILAN - Just before Cristian Brocchi's press conference, Doctor Massimiliano Sala spoke: 'Pippo Inzaghi injured his right hand during the Udinese game. The player had an x-ray last night that didn't show anything. Then this morning Inzaghi felt further pain in his thumb and underwent another check, which showed he had fractured his right-hand thumb and dislocated it. He will have further x-rays this afternoon and then we will be able to give a definitive diagnosis.'

Ok, excuse my failure to understand the away rule...but I am under the impression that we will have to score in Udine´s stadium...right?
This shouldnt be too difficult, and I am convinced that we can, and will...
As for Colo´s mistakes...(I didnt see the match) but IMO this is where he needs to make the mistakes, and with Billy there to guide him, he can and should improve.
Let us remember he his still young, and unused to the Serie A, where even forwards tackle well, so let us forgive him these errors, as I think he will prove invaluable in the near future.
At Udine a draw is ok indepentently if there are goals or not. If we loose 1-0 or 1-2 we're out. If we loose 2-3 its extra time, if we loose for 3-4 we pass because of scoring more away goals.
