A question for all the milan residents in here. Aerlingus from late march onwards are offering flights from Dublin to Milan Orio airport. Where on earth is it and is it any good an airport. I've only heard of Bergamo, Mal Penza and Linate, altough only ever flown into Mal P.

Is Orio another typical low fares airport, i.e. closer to turin that it is milan?

Milan Bergamo airport is Orio airport- same thing - proper name (orio) and the ryanair /aer lingus name for airpoirt -

Bergamo/orio is about 45 minute bus ride away from Milan central station - you can catch the autostradle bus right outside the airport - buy tickets form the kiosk as you walk thru the airport - costs abut 12 euros for return ticket.

as i say - its about 45 minutes ride- very comofortable - decent buses - not like UK coaches !!!!

it stops at Milan Central station - the pick up points are also at central station so is very easy and convenient and cheap way to get to Milan. They run roughly every 30/45 miniutes- till about 11 at night - but you can collect the timetable from the airport when you buy your tickets.

the airport isnt as close as Linate or Malpensa but is so easy to travel from /to it really isnt a problem unless you are on a tight time schedule and have to be somewhere within an hour or so of arrival - then LILnate would be better thru easyjet etc.

as an alternative you can also fly to Brescia Verona airport- this is about the same distance away as Bergamo airport from Milan - and is often cheaper- not sure what routes fly to that airport tho - i am in London and it is poss - but is worth checking as you can get a train for this airport to Milan Central - this can be booked online at train italy - type it in google - i think it is actuilly called treinitalia !!!!

hope this helps -

Just a nice particular: When in Milan Central station, look for the GALLIA HOTEL, it's the place (on the balcony) where Nesta was presented to Milanese crowd few seasons ago. I think the hotle name should be readable.
Most probably the next very great champions will be introducted there ( Ronaldinho? *i'm drooling* )
