For all those with ESPN Int access, the game will be shown live at 2:25pm ET on Sunday. :dcool:
I think this will be another :punch: tough match, :musk: Reggina are on a club record winning streak of 7 games, and have already taken some impressive scalps this season. (Roma and Juve for example)... :firedev:
I am looking forward, after several weekends without my usual Milan fix, to see us play LIVE, as opposed to highlights of goals and posts on MM describing how we played...not that I have issue with reading the posts of the game action, but nothing beats seeing the action live.
I am quietly confident about this game, and I hope Reggina comes out to play in front of their home fans and thus give us the space we need in midfield to launch our attacks.
It will be intresting to see if Carlo opts for Stam in the backline again, or if he gives Billy the nod...IMO, Stam still is a little rusty, and has been the direct cause of several goals against us.
:firedev: FORZA MILAN!!!! :firedev:
Reggina 2 Milan 4

I think we're going to suffer like we always do at their stadium..I predict a winning-goal in the last 5 minutes for us, scored by............................. RUI COSTA! :P
will be a tough match in my opinion as mentioned they have beaten juve and roma.
ps game will be on British eurospoet for those of us in Ireland and the UK
Gattuso has been disappointing in the last few games so I hope Ancelotti keeps him on the bench and starts Max against Reggina

This Game sure wont be easy on us knowing that a lot of players will be coming back from their matches with their countries but I doubt it would affect them so much coz I am sure they would play like 40 min each so we hope they wont be so tired for the game.
And I would prefer this Game that Rui starts instead of kaka knowing Rui needs some playing time where kaka can get some rest coz he has played a lot of games lately and we don’t lose him, I would prefer having this game the Back Line Cafu Maldini, Nesta, Serghino in Mid Ambro Pirlo and dhorrosso and up Front Rui, Sheva and Crespo that would be an ideal for this game depends on the second half how the score line stays but if its still a draw I prefer getting in Stam instead of Dhorsso so it would have more depth in the team and more width and that would open up allot of holes and hope this time Rui would score and that would give him more Motivation knowing that he has been so long on the Bench I pity him but that’s football.
Remember what Sheva said the other day when he missed a game he said it was like a life time where u can imagine how the rest of the team feels, but I am glad we are just 2 pts away even thou its still long way to the end of the season and a lot could happen we just have to play our game and players should concentrate much more then b4 coz games like counts a lot and same time we wouldn’t mind others giving us hand in taking pts away from Juve as they pray the same for us.
But I am glad with team I know our last game was not amazing but it sure changed a lot when ( Sheva, Serghino and Cafu) came in u could have seen more option in attack where we were completely lost for over 60 min, but that’s fine we learn from our mistakes and shows that Stam aint good on the right back as he mentioned today but u cant blame him that’s not his style of play u cant ask him to do what Cafu or even pancaro does, but that’s something for Mr. Carlo to learn knowing that’ didn’t work but that’s fine we always try things and hope for the best but that’s good it didn’t work out now coz he would have other options.
But in case I am pleased with team work and coaching staff we hope to see Dhorosoo who is playing pretty well of late and Ambro who I feel sorry who wasn’t selected for Italy knowing how important he is if this goes on guys trust me he is leaving coz he loves to wear the blue shirt and tell me who doesn’t wana wear it.
But any how its gone be as same coz Reggina is pretty good and they kind of attack but we cant say if they will in front of their home crowed coz they wana make sure they close the back and hit u on counter attack but that’s normal Milan has seen this for pretty long time and our style of play is pretty much like inter attacking style so u have seen inter play that way and draw coz they get irritated by the amount of chances they waste and just one strike by the other team boom they draw u cant blame them but that’s football that’s why we all love it coz u cant predict what's the outcome and that’s what is amazing this season who could have said Milan and juve would have lost 2 games in a row no one so its gone be tight and Milan gone fight every single game to the end and hope we win.

after Italy Russia match:
Nesta didnt play because of fitness problem
Gattuso had a fantastic match, played for 90 minutes
Pancaro did play for 60 minutes or something
Pirlo had a knee injury! Hope its nothing serious for Pirlo and Nesta!
The key to this game is to score early.
Everyone knows how hard its gonna be if we dont score early :(
Crespo scored a beauty against the Germans, let's hope he can bring some of that to this game, in my opinion he still needs to step up a bit to prove that he can be a consistent goalscorer for Milan, a player worth buying.
We have played everything but sparkling football lately, this game will be difficult to win, it is achievable though and a one-goal win would be fantastic ;)
Forza Milan
Reggina away isnt really a game you'd want to play the 'sparkling' football.
:)
Imagine all of their players in the box. Its gonna be impossible.

And Pirlo is out. :moan:
This is very bad news indeed. Without Pirlo, Calro tends to lose his focus where team selection is concerned, and invariably picks a side that only he can comprehend.
We can now expect to see both Ambro and Gattoso on the pitch from the start, with Rui again relegated to the bench...
I hope I am wrong, and just being my pragmatic (some may say pessimistic) self, but something tells me Kaka and Rui wont play together in this match...which IMO is the perfect match for them to start..
My choice for midfield (Carlo are you reading this :rollani: ) would be:
-------------Rui---------(in Pirlo´s position)
---Dhorasso-----Seedorf---
-----------Kaka---------
But this wont happen in a million years..... :sigh:
However, on a positive note, from the channel4.com website (http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/feb10d.html)
some good news: :D
Vikash Dhorasoo was also thrilled with his display, having enhanced his reputation with an impressive game.
The Milan midfielder was France’s brightest performer in the first half and caused Sweden several problems with his shrewd passing.
He said: "I felt good out there. It was certainly my best performance for France because I haven’t played many games."
Dhorasoo, who at 31 is enjoying a fine renaissance in his career, admitted he was left feeling disappointed that France could only draw the game 1-1.
I saw the game France - Sweden, Vikash was definitly man of the match and i have been talking about him all the time after i saw him play in copa vs Palermo.
If Ancelotti doesnt start with Vikash on Pirlos place then theres something really wrong in his head. What does he have to do to earn a starting shirt, he has been amongst top two players every match he has played. But this time i really have no doubt that Carlo will field him. This match is gonna be easy win even thou it looks hard one.
Player know they have beat Roma and Juve and will not relax and on the other hand
Reggina will not defend like usual cuz they have some confidence from beating i landri and Roma.
So no worries guys this one is ours.
Forza Milan.
I hope Gattuso is rested eventhough he had a great game for the Azzurri.
Ambro should play there and I hope Vikash or Manuel play the anchorman.
My choice for midfield (Carlo are you reading this :rollani: ) would be:
-------------Rui---------(in Pirlo´s position)
---Dhorasso-----Seedorf---
-----------Kaka---------
But this wont happen in a million years..... :sigh:
I'll take your word on that ;)
Its impossible since there aint any DMF's
i really hope that ancelotti will play dhorasoo in pirlo's place because he's much more stronger that ambrosini and when rui plays he's like lazy and doesn't want to fight!!!
Rui in pirlo's position would be a good idea. When Rui played there he did well this season.

I would like to see Dhorasoo in Pirlo's position, with Rui coming in later in the game if need be.

The line up I would like to see is much of a repeat of previous line ups. Def: Stam, Maldini, Nesta and Cafu Mid: Dhorasso  (should fill Pirlo's spot) He deserves the oppurtunity to cemente this spot, IMO. Seedorf, Gatusso, Kaka, possible rest Kaka first half and use Rui C. (he is a great player) then Sheva and Crespo up front.
Maybe next weekend we can let Sheva rest, and use Tommasson then.
Regina can be tough, and Milan needs to fight, fight, fight. :rocky:

I think we will see Ambro in Pirlo's position tomorrow given that we are playing a tough side like Reggina in their own stadium. We do need someone who will bring solidity to our midfield along with better playmaking skills than Gattuso's; all this leaves Ambro as the most viable option IMO. I would love to see Dhorasoo feature in Gattuso's place for this will bring some extra flavour in our midfield in the absence of Pirlo and the presumed presence of Ambro - Gattuso hasn't been his usual self in the last several games.
I wouldn't mind having Rui in place of a Kaka, who is desperately in need of a rest, I think.

More than enough to face reggina, IMO

Dhrasoo has looked brilliant everytime he has played this season and i would love to see this skillfull workaholic get much more game time?
As long as we bag 3points and juve draw or lose i will be dancing with the clouds!!! :devf:

Carlo, if I know him at all, will opt for a defensive oriented midfield, and Rui will remain on the bench.
Let us not kid ourselves, Carlo will never play a totally attack oriented midfield, unless we are losing the game.
Ambro does not have the vision to make passes, or the skill to beat defenders, but I will bet my last dollar that he will start, along with Gattuso, which IMO is a recipie for disaster.
As a result of playing two players who cant make a good pass to save their lives, we will lose control of this vital area of the pitch, and as such, Reggina will have the opportunity to create more chances.
When we are down by a goal or two, with 20 to 30 minutes left in the second half, he will introduce the attack oriented midfielders, or swap a forward.
This is the Carlo Ancelotti that I know.
sadly, I partially agree with you :(
From Channel4:
Ancelotti considers new Milan
Saturday 12 February, 2005
Andrea Pirlo’s absence against Reggina could push Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti into using a three-man defence.
“That system depends on the game and how our opponents are set out,” explained the Coach. “We use a rhombus shaped midfield, so to use three at the back would mean losing quality in the centre.”
He may not have much of a choice, as Ancelotti has already conceded this season that the squad does not have a natural replacement for Pirlo in that deep role.
Manuel Rui Costa and Vikash Dhorasoo have been tested there, but it’s more likely that the solid Massimo Ambrosini will take over – paving the way for a three-man defence with Jaap Stam in the centre and Marcos Cafu advanced on to the right wing.
“This match could represent a turning point in the campaign and a crucial moment in the Scudetto chase,” added the tactician ahead of the trip to Reggio Calabria.
“Reggina are a tough side and can take a few more risks now that they are mid-table. Their home form against the big clubs has been particularly impressive, holding Inter and beating both Juve and Roma.”
Alessandro Costacurta, Pirlo and Pippo Inzaghi have stayed back, but Dario Simic returns to the Milan squad for the first time in months after a long-term injury finally cleared up.
Milan squad:
Gk: Abbiati, Dida, Fiori
D: Cafu, Kaladze, Maldini, Nesta, Pancaro, Simic, Stam
M: Ambrosini, Brocchi, Dhorasoo, Gattuso, Kakà, Rui Costa, Seedorf, Serginho
F: Crespo, Shevchenko, Tomasson
']sadly, I partially agree with you :(
You shouldn't feel so sad about it. Carlo is the main reason why Milan has been so successful these past few years. He may or may not be the number 1 tactician in the world but he managed to unite this group of players and he got the results his way. If you disagree with his general concept of play you don't fully acknowledge the results he has achieved for Milan.

I have a feeling this will be an important match on a psychological level for our players. We still need to prove ourselves in some areas.
Pirlo's absence is an important matter to deal with, but I think Carlo already has an idea as to how to approach the match, and it seems he has studied Reggina carefully from what I see.
Anyway, I feel good towards this match and I can see the side will continue the growth that has occurred lately.
FORZA MILAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As Carlo Mentioned on Channel4.com that he could go with 3 men Defence and thats pretty good knowing will have more width in the game and havin more attacking options at this point of the season where we are down by 2 pts we cant really just hope that juve falls and some how we pass them, i wont say we were lucky against Lazio but the team worked real hard to get over them and it should the figthing spirt they players had and the changes that were made the second half.
i hope this game we should try to finish it off early in the first half were we could relax in the second Reggine is no push over in their home ground but i hope our middle takes good care of the ball and makes sure there is less mistakes coz they would just need a chance and boom block every way to their goal thats why its so imporatnt we do it early so then we could find space in their "D"
hope they guys play their heart out and hope Udniess makes a big surprise even thou they were unlucky their first game with Juve but it is gone be lovely game to see hope our Chec player does give us a gift this time around :)

I will not dispute the fact that Carlo has done wonders for Milan, indeed, since his arrival, we have become a much better team, however, I must disagree with your last statement.
I think that it is eminently possible to applaud  him for the positive changes wrought to the team, while being critical of some of his choices with regard to team selection.
I :clap:applaud his decision to potentially opt for a 3 man back line, but I think this is really semantics, designed to throw doubt  into the minds of the Reggina coach and by extension, their players as well.
Indeed, if we play with Pancaro and Cafu, we in effect play with a 3 man defense, as one or the other is usually making a run up the touchline of his side of the pitch.
On the other hand, with a "3 man defense", there is no way under heaven that Ambro and Gattso wont be in the middle together, giving away the ball as often as they win it. :wallbang:
Carlo really plays with two DMs (defensive mids) on the pitch out of 4, because of Pirlo's abilities, as Andrea can both tackle, as well as pass and dribble his way out of tight spots.
When Pirlo is absent, he opts for a more defensive midfield set up, often to our detriment...can some of the statistitians around tell me how many games we have won with Pirlo absent, and Rino and Ambro in the middle together?
Methinks not many....and if Pirlo has an off day, the effect is immediatly visible.
Laudrup, I reserve the right to criticise :d55: my coach when I think his tactics are too conservative, and :v408: praise him when he gets results....As a matter of fact, I have been extremely critical of his decision to leave Rui on the bench, yet I have publicly eaten my words when Kaka (whom he decided to leave on the pitch) helps to create a late winner (a la Lazio). :r11: :respect:
ugh. juve 1 - udinese 0. 1st minute goal. DAMN

If I were you I would get rid of that crystal ball - Juve just score again, broke-my-hairdresser's-window Camoranesi scored for 2-0. There is no way in this world Juve will let Udinese equalize, not after two consecutive defeats.
Now, it is a must win game for Milan.
2-1 in the end for Juve. Don't worry, Milan will get the 3 points needed :)
udinese apparently had an goal incorrectly disallowed for offside, the refs get 3 points for juve again.
shevaandkaka' i disagree with you about rui costa, he is still a wonderfully talented player in my opinion
at least we are now the master of our own fate. so we don't have to care about what the dopentus are doing. of course, i wouldn't mind seeing them dropping points to make things easier for us. :)
i can't see why we can't beat reggina. after we sacrificed a possible 85-point feat last season in their favor, i know they will do something to repay our great kindness. :D

yeah, what a surprise - Juve got a ref present again.
As for Milan, sorry to say it but we are NOT masters of our own fate for Juve are now 5 pts ahead - whether they deserve it or the refs made sure of it is not what matters - and even if we dob beat Reggina we will still be trailing them so ...
Zlatanov, with a 2 point spread we are very much the masters of our own fate, as we play Juventus at home later this spring. 3 potential point that would take us past Juve, should the 2 point spread remain
good luck for the match, went to south africa vs england cricket match, so i will be sleeping ......... but good luck
I think it will be one of those games in which we score late and win 1-0.
where is the game comments thread???
