I bleed calcio and love Milan ten times over and can practically remember reading soccer news from years back on Milan and all other soccer issues....Crespo has been doing a great job in Milan but I do recall when him and Mutu signed with Chelsea the many reports I would read of quotes from them two saying "England is the greatest place to play" .... "Playing in England is better than playing in Italy".... the tune is quite different now that they are both back in Italy and both want to play in Italy...These guys should have talked with their hearts and not their pockets....it's amazing how quickly they have returned....

Every two years my life hits the back burner in the summer and my attention focuses on the European Championships or the World Cup...and for a long time, every two years my heart has been broken....Watching Italy-Russia I realized that my heart may be broken once again in 2006 if Lippi does not play the younger guys and leaves the old crew in there again...I've never seen an Italy team play so well but guess what, it came in the second half when the old school players took a seat and the kids flew up and down the field, not only creating chances, but slotting them home...For years now the best Italian team hasnt taken the field and hopefully Lippi will realize its time to give the likes of Esposito, Gilardino, Gattuso, and De Rossi a chance to shine.... Buffon, Zambrotta, Nesta, Cannavaro, Pancaro, De Rossi, Gattuso, Esposito, Gilardino....These are some of the guys that can bring the Cup home in 2006, but its time to drop players that dont perform on the international stage

A lot of heart in that post AG :)

On Crespo and Mutu: I guess they have learnt the lesson by now :dumpf: I tend to forgive Crespo more that Mutu though. After all it is probably better to play in England than play for Inter ;)

On Azzuri: I think Lippi are showing some signs of rejuvinating the team. Bonera, De Rossi and Gilardino are all getting their chances.

totally agreed with the azzurri part. Lippi is definitely giving the youngsters the chance to shine considering the fact that Trap is an old-timer maniac. With new blood comes new ideas. This fresh injection of youth is going to prove their worth on the international stage and hopefully, i can see another Baggio to steer Italy into the Finals.

But I dont see England grabbing that cup again in my lifetime.... :nana: My Italia will hopefully shine for many years to come...if they play with the right personnel...But at least you're a Milan fan :pp20:

Its strange consdiering all his continental experience but Sven is much more limited tactically than i expected him to be.

It may simply be a case of him keeping it simple because the squad dont have long together to try anything radically different but even with that in mind he still makes some strange decisions :v46:

I still think we have a decent chance in 2006 though  the climate will be better for northern European teams than Japan was and we should have a complete squad instead of having to play people out of position :D

Where in the World has Sven Goran taken England? How far have they gone in recent Championships? World Cup 2002? Euro 2004? They are cosi-cosi at best.

a Ronaldinho fluke (no way he aimed it ! ) meant Brazil knocked us out of the world cup in 2002, we lost to the hosts Portugal on penalties in 2004 after our star player limped off injured after 20 minutes :(

Thats not a bad record and if he got sacked for that alone it would be harsh, but he has had 4 years now, hasnt really progressed and lacks innovation, there are better managers than him who are probably being payed a lot less than his £4.5m a year

Sven was a coach who played defense...like coaching in italian club :googly:
England squad for euro'04 was the best since 90's IMO and better than nowadays. but he reached nothing...
after leading 1 goal, he played defence against france...
with lampard, scholes, gerrard & beckham in midfield, I think England could make much than he did for squad

wc'06 will be a dream that could be reach by england...
sack him !!
