It has been announced on TLN (Canadian television station that broadcasts Serie A matches) that ChampionsWorld Soccer the group that brought Milan to New York, Philly, etc. is apparently in the final stages of sealing a deal where AC Milan or Juve and Chelsea will play in Montreal this summer. I could only dream about this scenario however there are some major doubts to this happening. Firstly, ChampionsWorld has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the U.S. last week. Apparently, despite this setback it can still happen. Secondly, where would they play? Montreal’s Olympic Stadium is horrible at best and the only other option only fits 15,000 which the teams will not accept and is not financially viable. Anyhow, the President of ChampionsWorld stated this is their top priority as Montreal has many soccer fans and they have been very present in both the New York and Toronto matches.

What are the odds that they will include Barbados on the tour? I'll offer free Rum Punches ;)

hmmm....

didn't Milan tour Asia a few years back??

Anyhow, this Milan-Chelsea match-up in Montreal is starting to really be heard around town. This would be a great opportunity to meet the players, etc. I assume they will be training and there are only so many grounds that would be suitable to these teams.

Book your tickets to Montreal

Time is money.

Waste time, waste money.

Going to Toronto, earn money.

Tour = Not a waste of time.

Because Milan earn money.

Lots of money, honey.

:D

This tournament sounds like a waste of time to me...

These tours are organized for many reasons. Here are some of them who have no clue.

1) They raise money - through ticket purchases, merchandise, and from the city where they play because it increases tourist activity in the city. The city is more than happy to have a major team play in their quarters.

2) They raise awareness of soccer in countries were soccer isn't that great a deal like Canada and the US, which in turn brings more fans, which in turn brings more money.

3) They offer a chance for Milan to test out young players off the Primevera side, new players recently acquired, and experiment. Remember the Milan - Man U game in the US last year where milan won on penalties? It is possibly because of that game that the two got to know each other a little better and Milan got the upper hand in the CL.

4) It improves relationships between teams. These are friendlies and often times you will find opposing players, managers and coaches intermingling in the city, talking and discussing matters. It helps in the long run because sometime down the line, a transfer deadlock could be decided based purely on a personal relationship forged during these international friendlies.

5) It gives a chance for the players to stretch their legs before the main season begins and to test thier fitness levels. It gives them an idea as to how much work should go into the gym to return to match fitness. Do you think Cafu can run as much as he does all year round? No. He can do that because he is primed for it for matches. Off season, he will be a little less fit because even he needs a break from the gruelling schedule of professional soccer athletes.

6) and educates people like you, who think it's a waste of time.

There are rumours about a Milan tour to Beijing in July. If they indeed go all the way out east, there may be a chance they will make a few more stops in East and SE Asia. The critical thing is whether there are organizers in these destinations who are willing to pay to organize games.

But I suspect, given the choice, a G14 club will choose a tournament like the Champions World Series that is perhaps perceived as more glamarous and more lucrative, over a tour to Asia to play local teams. Then again, in 2004 Milan visited Hong Kong and Shanghai in June and then played in the Champions World Series in August.

Exactly!! I hope Milan feels that they had received a very well hospitality from China and would want to come again this summer!~

I really cannot imagine Milan coming to SIngapore. China / Japan looks like the most probable candidate. Although i dont rule out that possibility. Looking at our current stadium size, i would rather wait for our new stadium to be built first than having them play at Jalan Besar Stadium :depress: .

I am willing to pay to go to China and see Milan!

I hope the Devil's Bar will relise Milan's potential and convert to a Milan Devil's Bar :D

I hope the Devil's Bar will relise Milan's potential and convert to a Milan Devil's Bar :D I'm glad to see that AC Milan Supporters are also located in such places as where you live. However, something you mentioned about Manchester United I'm having difficulties understanding. Personally, I hate Manchester United because I believe they're full of crap just like Juventus FC and Real Madrid CF. Anyway, when you mentioned in form of a question "Who wants to see Man U play nowadays anyway ?", I could've sworn that those would be the words of a Glory Hunter. So let me guess, if sometime in the near Future, AC Milan would experience the same troubles as Manchester United is experiencing right now (Hopefully not (And also, EVERY CLUB has Ups and Downs (LEARN THAT))), you wouldn't support them anymore ? Would you go ahead and mention in form of a question "Who wants to see AC Milan play nowadays anyway ?". I honestly think that you would considering you probably don't understand anything about any Clubs in Europe and you simply Glory Hunt. I bet you're the type of person who probably went around telling everybody that you're a Big Real Madrid Supporter when they had their 2 Seasons of Glory and when Manchester United won the Champions League in 1999. In anycase, you shouldn't say something again in form of a question "Who wants to see Man U play nowadays anyway ?". Learn how to Support 1 Club and stick with them instead of being the Glory Hunter that you apparently are.
