Milan would like to thank Palermo for their sporting gesture in moving the Serie A encounter to the Friday evening before the Champions League final. It is certainly a thoughtful move by the Sicilian club and their fans ahead of such an important European evening.

yeah thanks palermo. they are a very good team. i have full respect for them and their fans. nice to see them play. their fans and they really love their football.i really wish them luck in the uefa cup.

Of course we hope to beat them but it was nice of Palermo because if thye didn't agree to this, they had a better chance of winning. I wouldn't cry if Palermo beat Milan in this game because really they were sporting and did a very gentlemanly thing.

If they did not want to do it, they would have been in trouble easily - either by ref decision or some punishment by video evidence.

i think it has something to do with the fact that galliani is lega president and zamparini (palermo president) is lega vice-president. thank God for good contacts.

but i would have been surprised if the opposite had happened. postponing league games by a minimum of 3 days has always been the order of the day in Italian football. i remember a napoli-milan (1-0, ex-Agostini goal) played on a thursday prior to 1995 final vs. ajax. re manchester final, there was no need for postponement because we were sure of 3rd place and could play the Primavera.

Galliani also thanked Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini for agreeing to bring forward the Serie A trip to the San Siro on Friday, May 20: 'It was very kind of Palermo to allow the game to be played a day earlier than usual. The anticipation on Saturday was a due act, but in order to play on Friday, the approval of the other team was required. Palermo accepted and I wrote yesterday to Zamparini to thank him. Today everyone at the Italian Football League meeting, including Juventus, said that it was right to make things easier for the team who represent the country in Europe. So, solidarity, support and friendship from all clubs.'
