i was thinking once..... what if milan change their system, same mentality but not the 4-3-1-2 formation........
the 3-4-1-2 would be nice IMO:
we could work with something like:
dida
stam-nesta-maldini
cafu-gattuso-pirlo-serginho
kaká
inzaghi-sheva

not to mention the new players coming this summer............

what do u ppl think?

This system was used in the second half vs Lazio and Fiorentina and we won with it. But our system is practically perfect and a perfect structure is better to remain un touched. If we change system we'll need some reinforcements though and Serginho forgets the defence. This system was used by Zaccheroni and we all know the results.

I have wanted that system since Stam signed, but unfortunately it wont happen as Berlusconi basically ruled it out after Zaccheroni's attempts.

I would definately keep Seedorf in though (When hes not playing poorly).

i guess thats the only optional system.............
dunno 3 strikers? then we'd have to play with either 3 defenders or mid.
3 mid. just cant happen: we play via the midfield

I only like this type of system if we would defend further away from the goal. You can't take the initiative this way without running a lot of risks, if you don't have quick backup from the last line. It takes a lot of pace and accuracy to be succesful over a longer period of time, and good communication too. And most important of all, the players will need more assignments than just one. We can't afford to lose the ball too many times, because it will take more energy to get in defensive mode, because our defense is further away from the goal, and they'll have to move too much, unless the whole team works for them too. All in all: not very typical for an Italian club.
In our current shape, there is no way we could perform well playing this way.

Thats where Gatusso would come in, he could do what hes best at -> DESTROY and best of all he could do it in the middle of the pitch and then just pass the ball to Pirlo.

Good thinking K7. Gattuso would probably function better in this formation as you say.
On the other hand, there is a problem here: We might lose control over our own passing play in midfield because our central midfielders will often be isolated and only supported by the defense, which means half the team will have to go back too many times, and if they're not isolated, there might very well be chaos because we close much of all the space that we have created ourselves with our wingers. Nowhere to go, which again means we'll have to go back or lose the ball again.

When Gattuso recuperates the ball, There will be pressure on our midfield, because we are already playing further forward than usual. Pirlo will have very little time for distribution and Serginho will have to do what he is least good at: playing from the center, to assist Pirlo. So Gattuso will play better, but the team plays worse, because we are squeezing the spaces we just created ourselves.
It's better to play with another central midfielder, to relieve the pressure and push the opponent back. Otherwise you can't control your own game.

I don't see the need to change the system. Our system is very well balanced for most games and with the minor tweeks here and there it can be used for any match.

However, the reason certain systems have worked better at time (ie. 3-4-1-2 etc) is because Carlo at times adapts the side to the opponent, meaning such tactical switches are necessary.

However, unless we need to such as in the situations expressed, there is no immediate need to actually change the system, just continue evolving it.
