I often get bullsh*t from fans of other teams asking me how I can like Milan. They say they can't stand the "boring" football the Rossoneri play. Personally I love to watch Milan and don't think they are defensive as people claim. Obviously the second leg in Eindhoven was embarrassing but that was our worst game.

Tell me what you think of how Milan play.

I would definately call them a team oriented towards defence..but only because that's the only way to win in serie A. If you are not strong defensively..you will never win a scudetto. In terms of beautiful football..in my opinion they do not play the most beautiful football to watch, Barcelona or Real Madrid are superior in that aspect

Tell them if they want offensive football watch EPL or better still sports that do not require defence itself. In football, defence is also an art. If they cant appreciate Maldini's beautiful tackles and Milan's equilibrium play they can kiss the rossoneri's arse.

milan's style can be summed up as technically gifted players always wanting to get on the ball loads of one twos and little trianangular passing movements. the ball is predominantly kept on the ground and very rarely do we see long rushed balls out of defence. we are solid defensively not because we are a defensive side (we aren't) but because we have the best defenders. Regularly out of the 11 on the pitch only 4 have a defensive mentality i.e. Dida, the 2 centre backs and Gattuso. our full backs regularly push up for example cafu spends more time in the opposition half then our half. Pirlo and Seedorf in midfield are constantly looking to attack etc. Midfield generally takes the form of a diamond with most attacks going through Pirlo and Kaka. there is almost perfect symmetry within the team i.e. when cafu attacks gattuso covers. Also sheva likes pirlos long balls over the top while crespo/inzaghi like kakas short incisive balls.

do people expect sandro nesta and don paolo to play bad on purpose to give the opposition a cahnce?

I don't like that sort of talk either, it reminds me of people that want explosions and car chases in every film they see. Real film fnas usually get pleasure out of all film types, film noir, romance, horror, it's all a matter of taste.

That said the best team to watch play are an in form Man United, they're even more exciting Real Madrid or Barca.

May it's not just the flair attacking thing, I don't know, I have watched man u a lot and when they hit their stride i think it's a fantastic game of football. I've never been much of a barca fan, i don't really like them to be honest.

us last season too where amazing, the juventus and depor games where brilliant.

MILAN has allways been a symbol of strenght, fight and that is a motive to be proud.
Even tho, great players, great forward or creative players have been in Milan.
I think right now is a very bad moment of football in general, in the whole world, there is a high level of mediocricy in m opinion, and perhaps the italian football is one of the most affected.

Doesnt happen so much now though :(
We used to be so good at building pressure with wave after wave of attacks, composed aggression coupled with technical ability, the good old days :)

Barcelona and Arsenal are probably better at this than Utd are at present, though i wouldnt say either match the standards of Utd a few years ago.

A few other good teams to watch for attacking play can be Lecce and Betis, neither side are going to win their leagues anytime soon but they still charge forward :D

Milans style is composed and patient. 90% of the opposition are happy with a draw when they play Milan and because of that Milan break down teams gradually, its not always exciting but it is usually effective and involves a high degree of technical ability and tactical nous.

What I liked about it was it was really organic, the whole "total football" thing almost. I mean you had scholes, Giggs and Sojkaer in midfield, all 3 of which could play as strikers if they wanted and it was very fluent and non-stop. the drubbing they gave Newcastle when they where closing down on the league was one of the most amazing displays offense I've ever seen, it could have been double figures.

That said, I watched Arsenal take apart Everton last week and by the looks of it they're not going to be slipping out of the top 3, well done to Wenger (much as I dislike him) for using this season after the League was pretty much out of reach to integrate the youngsters into the side.

Excuse me, nobody has mencioned as an offensive team the great Riquelme's
yellow submarine: VILLARREAL FC, 3rd in spanish league and top scoring team

yeah, i remember the Toon took the lead that day (Jenas from about 25 yards right in the corner  ) despite that, i still felt really confident, there was a real buzz about the team that day :D
I think Fergie is trying to rebuilt that interchangable aspect of the side, Rooney and Ronaldo are both comfortable in either role, so are Giggs, Scholes and Smith. If we get the right player to compliment/replace Keane then we could be set to do it again

some of their passing was sublime and the movement was outstanding too  i think its a flaw in Everton though that they have the plan to hold out and nick a winner at the other end and as soon as Van Persie scored they had no plan B, thats not a good situation with 80 minutes left at Highbury :)

And even Forlan looks good for them :D

Milan are not defensive. We have a good defence, but the style of play is certainly not defensive. We look to keep the ball rather than just pumping it up the pitch and try to create space for our attacks. That is how most successful teams play. It makes sure that we don't lose matches even if we have a bad day. It is certainly not boring, and when it works it is extremely beautiful to watch.

And while we're talking about an in-form United, :D thats what attracted me to football in the first place, so of course that is beautiful too.
