Wierd but that's what his agent has said after a meeting between the two clubs.
This is a good deal obviously as hopefully we're planning on intorducing Gila or someone upfront and the 11m price tag on him was looking a bit of a bad deal for 1 or 2 more seasons as he is nearing the end of his career as a world class striker (can't really think of a great striker over 30) I only hope it's not at the expense of Kaladze. I don't mind if he goes but I'd like to see some transfer funds come our way.

This is a great deal for us. We do not have to pay any transfer fee, and since Kaladze will move the other way, it will give us some extra funds to bid for Gilardino..
What a strike force next year: Crespo/Inzaghi/Sheva/JDT/Gilardino :)

I think getting Crespo on loan one more year is an excellent deal. Buying him for 10+ million wouldn't be as good because how many good years does he have left? But I doubt we would give Kaladze to Chelsea for just Crespo on one year loan.

I read that Ancelotti would like to have 5 forwards which would be good but It will be hard to keep all five happy. If Gilardino comes to Milan and one striker has to leave I hate to say that it would be Inzaghi. I don't think he would stay here as a 4th/5th striker.

yes this is ideal for us. If crespo's form dips, he can go back to Chelsea :) BUt again, i hope no gilardino.

Also Brocchi wants to leave milan along with Abbiati

If we don't have to pay them rent it's a great deal but I really doubt that. we'll probably have to pay a sum for his services.

if we don't have to pay rent it would be a stupid deal for chelsea unless they get kaladze for as good as nothing and in the worse case scenario perhaps milan promised to leave Gilardino alone what would clear the way for chelsea (what I doubt since apparantly he doesn't want to leave Italy but you never now...)

inzaghi is actually undergoing specialized training to account for his lack of match fitness as compared to the other players at this current time. I think by the team the season starts, he will be the one player who will be the most in form because he sorta has a head start over the other players. barring any further injuries, expect him to start alongside shevchenko in the first few games of the season and expect him to score a lot of goals against less fit opponents. once that happens, he will cement his place in the side. considering that milan want to win all three cups next season, having 5 strikers is absolutely vital. :3band:

yeah it is great, bying him is to expensive! so y not loaning em :p
now they can spend there tranfer budget to some great youthplayers, who have a great future lying next to them.

I know about Inzaghi's specialized training. Even so I doubt he would be first choice if both Gilardino and Crespo are here next year. They aren't coming to warm the bench.

Milan will be paying Crespo's salary next year. Chelsea was picking up much or most of it this year.

Good news indeed. A loan deal was the best possible outcome of this negotiation.

At least he has accepted a salary cut though.

But I guess there was no way Milan would pay him Chelsea wages.

Chelsea will have close to 140m euros in wages this year according to some reports. I believe that is the highest payroll in the world of football, but I could be wrong

The total wage bill in Chelsea is 170M Euro for 04/05, according to the report just published by English newpaper yesterday.

Milan's wage was 162M for season03/04, the highest among Serie A teams. Guess this number should be somewhat around 150M for 04/05 because there is no championship bonus.

Btw, I find the supposed loan-deal a bit strange: why on earth would Chelsea agree to loan Crespo to us instead of cashing on him? There is no guarantee he will be better than last season.

Today it says no agreement has been reached during yesterday's meeting. Let's wait and see.

Really great news to us... Crespo is a man... after his preformance in Buenos Aires today my prejudice is reinforced so much... we are lucky to have him, he is supreb :star:Serie A round-up: Crespo to extend Milan loan

Hernan Crespo's agent revealed on Wednesday the striker will stay with Milan next season, but only as part of a loan deal. Crespo spent all of last season on loan at the San Siro after falling out with Blues boss Jose Mourinho and was tipped to make the move permanent in the summer transfer window.

Italy counters thugs

But now Crespo's representative, Fernando Hidalgo, has said while the Argentine international will stay with the rossoneri for the 2005-2006 campaign, he will do so only by extending his current loan agreement.

"He'll stay with Milan. We'll sort everything out next week. Chelsea want to wait until then to confirm the move," said Hidalgo, who was involved in negotiations between the two clubs on Wednesday.

"Milan have netted another great deal. Crespo will extend his loan period for one more year, then we'll see what happens after the World Cup."

Crespo has publicly repeated his desire to remain with Milan - for whom he has scored 16 goals in 38 games this season - and Hidalgo said the player's wishes played a key role in discussions.

"When a club wants a player and a player wants a club then there are no problems. Crespo's desire was decisive. That is why he has agreed to take another pay-cut, which means his wages will now be entirely paid by Milan."

Somehow I am content enough to say that we don't need Gilardino. I have faith in Crespo and Sheva to deliver, no need to splash unneccessary money on Gila, he is too overpriced at the moment.

Crespo on fire ... he has scored 4 goals in 2 matchs ...
that's good for milan to keep Crespo for other year ...
but Milan still has to spend money to buy gilardino good prospect, and he has scored 46 goals in two seasons ... Fantastic !!!

i think we would be running a risk if we depend on sheva and crespo only for next season, even though both have been great but they didnt seem to show an understanding except for the final in istanbul, i think if we get gila and give alot of chances for crespo then we would be much better off

In some papers today, it's been reported that both Crespo and Veron will return to Chelsea as neither player can agree loan terms with Milan/Inter.

I have no idea where they came up with this, i thought it was all done and dusted for Crespo and us, maybe things aren't so complete ??

Jim, I read that Veron wanted to stay in Milan (Inter) or return to Argentina. Is this true? Are they talking about this possibility (Veron playing in Argentina next season)??

And regarding Crespo, his stock is at an all time high (more or less). Obviously if you consider his age it isnt wise to make an investment on him, but....

Unfortunately not everything is complete on Crespo's loan extension and if there is a problem it is not between Milan and the player but between Milan and Chelsea - there have been several reports in Italy that Milan are angry with Chelsea about their constant lurking around Sheva, Kaka, and such.

I knew I could count on someone who understands the market and it's priciples and forces. At the right price I would be happy to ave him here. I too think he's overpriced.

Crespo calls Chelsea crisis talks Sunday 19 June, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hernan Crespo has reiterated his desire to stay at the San Siro, but concedes the matter is now out of his hands as Milan and Chelsea work out terms.

“Next week I will speak directly to Chelsea for the first time,” revealed the Argentine. “This is a little frightening, but it’s my last hope to stay at Milan.”

The striker arrived on loan last summer and has impressed, scoring 11 Serie A goals and six in the Champions’ League. He hopes to either renew the deal or make the move permanent, but the Stamford Bridge outfit is unwilling to release him without a price.

“I have faith the matter will be resolved, but I am far from relaxed. I hope to meet with people who understand my position and I have made my intentions clear for some time now. I want to stay at Milan. It’s not an issue of football or money, but of environment and heart. I’ve agreed to take a pay cut, but I don’t see what else I can do.”

Crespo found it difficult to settle in to the Premiership during his brief stay, but insists that even Parma, Lazio and Inter cannot compare to the Rossoneri.

“A year ago I had even considered retiring,” confessed the 30-year-old, “but then came Milan. The club, its staff and the doctors made me into a player again. I was then able to prove to the whole world that I was worthy of Milan. I’m a member of their squad at the moment and I hope to maintain that situation.”

There are suggestions that Chelsea are dragging their heels over Crespo’s future in a bid to lower Kakha Kaladze’s £5m asking price.

“I don’t know what’s going on and everyone has a different view of the situation,” added the hitman. “I will meet with Chelsea and discuss this element as well.”He is so devoted, that the tears of pride are dropping :proud:

I hate 'ski, and if they do that Crespito could not join us I will cruise them :fero:

Crespo fear over Milan future 20/06/05
Hernan Crespo has voiced concerns about his future at AC Milan with his transfer from Chelsea seemingly up in the air.

The Argentinian striker was set to sign a new one-year loan deal last week to remain a further season at Milan, but the 29-year-old has revealed his future is far from certain because of problems with the move.

"This week I will speak personally with Chelsea," Crespo told the club's official website, www.acmilan.com. "I'm slightly worried because this is the last card that I can play if I want to remain at Milan."

He continued: "I am confident and calm but I hope that I find people that understand my situation.

"My wish is to remain at Milan, it's not a question of football or money but an issue of atmosphere and heart."

Crespo also admitted that he was ready to retire from professional football after his disappointing spell with the Blues in the English Premiership.

"I know who I have to thank for what I have today," he said. "One year ago I really considered hanging up my boots but then I arrived at Milan.

"The Rossoneri club, the doctors are responsible for my return to being a footballer. I have shown to the world that I am a Milan player."

Crespo has certainly seen a revival in his career, playing an essential part in Milan's success last season which saw them reach the final of the Champions League and also challenge for the Serie A title.

He scored a total of 18 goals for the Rossoneri in the 2004-05 campaign where ultimately they finished second in both competitions, losing out to Juventus in the league and Liverpool in Europe.

The Argentinean striker wants to stay at Milan.
Hernan Crespo’s wish of remaining with the Rossoneri is a well known fact, but the situation is still far from clear as Chelsea do not want to let the player go easily.

For this reason, the former Inter player is set to meet with the Blues’ officials during this week to try and convince the club that he wants to play again for Milan next season.

“During the week I shall talk directly for the first time with Chelsea. This scares me a bit but it’s the last card I can play to stay at Milan.

“I’m confident, but not calm. I hope to find people who understand. I desire Milan; it’s not a matter of football or money. It’s a matter of environment and heart.”

JULY 14 OBJECTIVE
6/28/2005 10:55:00 AM
Ariedo Braida has revealed the club's desire to keep Hernan Crespo and give the fans the gift they want.
MILAN - Ariedo Braida was interviewed on the Milan Channel’s Studio Sport show and spoke about the transfer market. The Rossoneri general director has been attending the dealings at the Atahotel Quark in Milan to resolve a number of outstanding issues. He said: 'Beyond these circumstances, today has been a day in which we have thought of the next positive things for the future of the team. We are trying to carry out important things and we have, as everyone knows, an important objective. I have to say, however, that the market today is divided in two. There are clubs that have players, the so-called top players, that cost a lot and they are in no hurry to move them along. There is gap between these players and all the others. In the past it wasn't like that and it was easier. Today, the main players take their time and a lot of work has to be put in. Regarding this, I hope that Milan succeed in giving Ancelotti and the Rossoneri fans a great gift.'

As for Milan, the idea is clear: 'We want to arrive at July 14 with the foundations of the side completed. This is at least the hope we have. We are trying, that’s down to the merit of everyone, but it’s not that easy.'

Braida then spoke about Hernan Crespo: 'Chelsea are making it possible and at the same time impossibe to negotiate for Crespo. I believe that they feel Hernan is one of the best strikers in the world and in their hunt on the market they haven’t managed to find a top player. Then, Chelsea made a major investment in Crespo two years ago and there is a strong pressure to keep him. We’ll see. Hernan really wants to stay with us, we’ll see what the attitude of the Chelsea management is in this matter.'

could have posted this in the big splash thread as well, but thought it more appropriate here..
