Halftime.
Crespo with 2 scores, Riquelme with some magic, only one team on the field.

Argentina 3
Brasil 1
Final.
One half for each team, but a deserved win for Argentina.
:5guitar:
why was Roque Junior even playing? congrats to crespo on his goals btw
yea, Roque was very poor... except his header of the line...
basically great match... really great teams though Argentina was better prepared for that game... IMo Dinho and Kaka can not hold all match both... they need to have some assistants... Juninho, Diego... because Robinho was not the man today.... and Ze Roberto did played well too... Adrinano is a crap... he was poor against Praguay but I thought it was only an accidental thing.... however, he was even poorer today... he can not even score from 7 metres... :eekani:... a real perdentista... he is not worth even 10 mio pounds... Crespo is much much better, he is almost the God comparing to Adriano...

I unfortunately only saw the highlights, but I am happy that Argentina won, as it is my "second" country...behind Jamaica of course...but sad that the partnership of Ronaldihno and Kaka wasnt "headline creating"...I wanted more and more proof that they could both play in the middle together...but maybe the selecao loss was more of Adriano´s poor display, Robinho not being fully ready for prime time, and Roque Junior flattering to decieve yet again...
I would have wanted a close victory for Argentina, with Kaka and Ronnie showing that they could play effectively together...that would give Berlu some food for thought....
Dinho and Kaka were great though their teammates were a bit unperpared for that game... athlough I have no illusions about Kaka&Dinho in rossonero...

The problem is that they left Emerson alone in the middle against Riquelme, Lucho, and co.
Look no further than the second half with Brazil being down 2 goals, that Parrerira put Renato for Robinho and they had their best moments.
With the tree formation, Kaka and Ronaldinho can play together with no problems.
Sorin showed his value again, this time playing in the middle. Riquelme had a fantastic first half. Mascherano, uff, great. Lucho Gonzalez as well. Crespo was probably the man of the match.
Kaka was the best from the Milan trio. Dida and Cafu had below average games.
I woder why Veron hasnt played, is he injured? Sorin was great everywhere... especially harshly tackling Dinho :D
What were the respective formations and first team players?
Congrats to Argentina and Crespo :5ok:
I can remember something like this...
Dida; Cafu, Roque, Juan, Roberto Carlos; Ze Roberto, Kaka, Dinho, Emerson; Robinho, Adriano.
Abbondanzieri; Coloccini, Mascherano, Ayala, Heinze; L. Gonzalez, Riquelme, Sorin, K. Gonzalez; Crespo, Saviola.
Dinho and kaka together is not happening, the same will happen at Milan if Dinho comes, you have to compensate if one is using both of them, by playing with only one striker,
i felt sorry for Adriano and Emerson, they were by themselves in the game. Roque was poor no doubt,
and the refreeing was terrible, i can't believe the match ended without any red cards.
Crespo and Sorin were great, i was also impressed by Luis Gonzales and Marscherano(i hope i spelt both of their names right).Coloccini was good too, i will never be able to figure out why we got rid of him. especially if Kaladze leaves.
Ronaldinho was just trying to take centre stage yesterday, was'nt passing the ball when he should have, does'nt even help his team by defending,
the whole left flank was weak, Carlos is past his prime and he was horrendous in the 1st half.

Brazil's goal was fokin breathtaking.
Their defence was utter crap, but then again Brazil's always this way - late to qualify for the big tournaments and in the end they will win the bloody thing.
I miss claudio lopez.
Coloccini was good too, i will never be able to figure out why we got rid of him. This is my point! I never forgive Milan for selling him... it is a huge mistake and you will feel that in near future. I wonder where are those who said Colo is too slow and is not Milan material :rollani: :dumpf:
Kaka and Dinho can play together but they have to have some other partners who can take rosposibility of creating attacks and defending their goal, because they both can not do everything at once. The rest Brasilian squad was very poor.
ive never rated coloccini and im glad hes not playing for us... so hes in the argentina team doesn`t necessacrily mean hes a great player.
the guy has no pace and got out fought by aidan mcgeady of celtic in the away leg of the champions league gropup match.
also in that game aginst brazil when they did attck especially with robinho down that side he got done a number of times... when it comes to those one on one type battles he`ll lose them, of all the players milan should forsee as good young players defenders would probably be top of the mark considering the likes of baresi, costacurta, tasotti, maldini etc....
plus the real reason why brazil lost was cos they only played wiht one holding midfielder in emerson. ze reboreto did jack s*** agsinst argentina and brazil continually got out fought in midfield. only when renato came on did they start to play like they normally do.
ze roberto can do it aginst the likes of paraguay but aginst argentina parreira should have forseen how strong argentina was through the middle of the park.
i still think that this defeat will actually strengthen brazil as they now know that they are still short of being the finished article, that said if they had ronaldo it may have been very different especilly in the second half.....
so hes in the argentina team doesn`t necessacrily mean hes a great player.this quote deserves to be declared a "Quote of the Month" :dielaugh: :pr115:

What would he do? Seriously tell me. :finger:

come on then rae, name all those games wher coloccini was excellent?
:wow:
What would he do? Seriously tell me. :finger:
mate ronaldo is awesome. he gets criticised left right and center yet he still scores 20 goals for madrid when hes been injured for a few months or so.
hes always there in the big games. the guy can create and score. drop deep or play as the last man.
ronaldo, how and why people criticse ronaldo is beyond me. hes not the perfect professional but hes still way ahead of otherd when it comes to playing the beautiful game.
his physical prescene alone would have unsettled argentina (far more so than robinho) it would have also lessened the load on adriano and im sure that would have meant more space for adriano.
remember in the first wc qualifying game against argentina, thye lost 3-1 (albeit all penalties) but ronaldo had a good game that guy does the business regularly at the highest level and never shies away from taking responsibility.
in the second half brazil had a few decent chances and when argentina were put under pressure they soemtimes stuggled a little, all i`m saying is that ronaldo would have made more of an impression agaisnt argentian than robinho whether it would have been good enough for brazil to get a draw or win, well i can`t say...
come on then rae, name all those games wher coloccini was excellent?
:wow:he have got many chances in San Siro but he proved he is worth to be in Argentinian NT two days ago... or didnt he :wow:
R9 is much better that Adriano... is there any doubts? :rollani: :p146:
whether it would have been good enough for brazil to get a draw or win, well i can`t say...
My Point Exactly. :)

rae, you need to argue your case more to convinve me.
colocinni had a good game against brazil but ive seen many a game where he has looked average.
My Point Exactly. :)
i can`t commit to a win or draw simply because football aint a science.
what i can say is that brazil will definitely start with ronaldo at next years world cup (providing hes not injured) and that he`ll prove once again what a world class player he really is.......
what i can say is that brazil will definitely start with ronaldo at next years world cup (providing hes not injured).
That might depend more on what Nike has to say rather than Carlos Pereira.
He is definately talented and truly world class, but lazy and is'nt playing to his full potential.

yes, Coloccini is like Ayala: good for Argentina but
he was an inexplicable failure with Milan.
While in the Brazil squad there was a big lack of balance, Argentina played with 3 in defence.
Mascherano with Sorin in the midf: both have been the key of the match, imho.
Lucho is a great project.
For the first time I saw a furious Ronaldinho.
Also Kakà with Kily, but this is not a surprise, neither a news.
About Adriano, I think he is really a crack:
simple, in this time is not at his best.
If I should build a team, my number 9 is the "beast". Younger than Ronaldo and with an incredible potential: under Prandelli & Sacchi in Parma, he did marvellous things.
Sure, Ronaldo is not a "second choice", but if you consider the age and all the muscular troubles suffered...
Yeah, my voice hurts when I remember Istanbul :broken:

So this Ronaldo, version 2005, was the difference between 1-3 and 3-3 or 4-3?? Hmmmmm.....OK.
:rollani:
I do not this so... Colo could help us this year, when Cafu got exhausted at the end of season... however we havent him in out squad already... it was a pitty. I feel robbed when I look at him in Deprotivo jersey. Especially when his preformances are rated very good... it was a mistake selling him.
I am not a fan of R9 at all, in fact I use to hate him, although I feel sorry for brasilian NT having Adriano in lineup instead of him. Nevertheless he is real's topscorer... Adriano is by miles away from him... I do not rated him very good at Inter... and now after last week's matches I have lost the last drop of faith in him... we do not need such kind of players.
yes, Coloccini is like Ayala: good for Argentina but

give me a break. he barely played for Milan. to call him a failure with Milan is a little far fetched considering he played very very little. His last game with Milan was Coppa Italia game where he bombed, but even the best players have bad days.
Extremely happy for Crespo. Hopefully Milan keep tabs on D'Alessandro. A possible replacement for Rui Costa in the near future

I think Rui could give us one more season but we, I mean Milan, definitely need to start thinking for a replacement. For now the favourite seemed to be Hleb from Stuttgart but he seems to be close to signing for Arsenal and could be a gunner starting next week.
My personal favourite is Rosicky for he is a truely amazing player and shouldn't be offensively expensive either given Dortmund's disastrous financial situation, not to mention that he is probably dying to finally play for a team that can actually win something.
Rui's so called replacement should be a great player, IMO. What I mean is that he shouldn't be some second string player who Carlo would be affraid of trusting and thus end up keep him on the bench for the whole season. I think we need a player who could bitterly challange Kaka for a place in the starting 11 for this season Carlo played Kaka in 95% of the games even when the Brazilian desperately needed a rest or was obviously underperforming.
For this role, I think Rosicky would be perfect, and again he shouldn't be called a reserve and play in 5-10 games of the season but given equal opportunity as Kaka. Another player I like a lot is Riquelme - a brillian player, who however has the nasty habbit of often completely disappearing during games, if not for the entire game.
As for Dalessandro, I can't say I have ever been a fan of his - he is definitely a good player with undesputable ball technique but he is weak physically and is often literary ran over by the oposition. This guy desperatly needs a fitness trainer, IMO. Far from an average player but I think there are better options out there.
Maradona (10)

The problem is that a guy like Riquelme wouldnt agree to join Milan to come off the bench or to start 5 games per season or when Kaka is suspended or injured.
The not so good news is that we extended Rui's contract not so long ago. Right?

For God's sake, we are Milan not Fiorentina or Lecce or....when we have Rui Costa starting we are giving advantage to our opposition. He is not at Milan's level anymore. I was ashamed (?) when I saw him playing in the UCL final against Liverpool. That was "la gota que colmo el vaso".

Oh my god, I hate Parreira, don't know how to arm a defense. Roque Jr is terrible, Juan and Lúcio too. Why don't convoque Alex of PSV, Cris of Lyon, Luisão of Benfica? How to say in Brasil: Teimoso, burro, safado!
Roger Nolli
11-06-2005, 14:22
Dinho is Ronaldinho? I never listen this. The conclusion of the match is: Parreira is don't a coach for Brasil, but Felipão, Leão, Luxemburgo yes. "Não sabe por o time pra marcar e não sabe escalar a defesa, ainda me põe Zé Roberto titular, faça-me um favor."

Hehe, yeah, Dinho is Ronaldinho. Ronaldinho is too long, and people understand when you say Dinho.

Rui was the only who played in extra times... he created that when Sheva could score twice... he is class :firedev:

Sure, he couldnt dribble past any liverpool defender. You always have class, at 20 or 30 or 40. But he isnt at Milan level anymore.
Same player, different opinions. Lets pray Kaka is healthy the entire season, if not....
Man, I used to think that I have problems with my eyes, however if so, you are blind at all. How can you even speak such nonsence about Rui when he was let in extra time fresh and full of determination to create or score a goal. Everyone was standing and looking at him, not even Liverpool players but also our rossoneri. All of them were too tired to run or even walk. Only Rui was flying around them like a pursuit plane. He was the majoy figure in whole extra time, I have no wonder about it. I just wanted Craletto has let him on the pitch much earlier so that he could create more. Athough he has done enough to prove his name of a world class footballer :star:

Haha, thats my problem. Everybody was tired and Rui Costa couldnt dribble past any Liverpool defender. Maybe I watched a different game, he was totally unimpressive.
Again, Im not basing my opinion on the Istanbul disaster. But you have your opinion on Rui and I have another one thats different. Its not like Im discussin Sheva here. Im sure that there are many Milanistas that are with you and some that share my view.
I really can't believe we paid 40 million euros for Rui Costa, i wanted him to come to Milan so badly, he has been a big dissappointment for me. He has'nt been what I expected from him.

Rui's performance at fiorentina was exceptional, but unfortunately somehow he never recaptured that form for Milan, I don't want ppl to point odd games or moments where he was good. On the whole he has let most of us down.

actually we paid 28 mil British Pounds, which back then was ~40 mil euros.
Don't forget that those were the years of the football market prices going higher and higher every day. Rui is actually Milan's most expensive transfer ever, I believe.

In my opinion the 3-1 victory for Argentina was a long time in coming. Argentina have the best squad or group of players in the world not even Brasil can compete against Argentina's options, the only thing Argentina lack at the moment is a top goalkeeper but i think in another 2 years Franco will be a top goalkeeper. Look at the options going forward Crespo, Saviola, Tevez, Fiqueroa, Galletti and Maxi Lopez amongst others (Some still have to prove but their potential is amazing), in attacking midfield there are Aimar, Riquelme, D'Alessandro, Veron, Solari (more left wing). In center midfield there are Cambiasso, Mascherano, Scaloni, Duscher, Bernardi and Battaglia. In defence Ayala, Samuel, Coloccini, Heinze, Cufre, Placente, Milito and dont forget the likes of Zanetti, Sorin, Luis Gonzalez, Kily Gonzalez! Brasil in the last few games they've played against Argentina have been very, very lucky (Remember the 2004 Copa America Final!!) and the last WC Qualifying victory were all penalties and some of those penalties were debatable. So for me seeing Brasil lose like that wasnt a suprise because Argentina are the only team in the world that can claim with some degree of fact that they are better than the World Champions and i feel if Bielsa had been more determined in his selection for the 2002 World Cup we would have won it for sure, but instead he couldnt decide on who his captain was (Simeone, Batistuta, Ayala or Veron?), who was his holding midfielder (Simeone or Almeyda?) and who was his best striker (Batistuta or Crespo?) Many of his descisions were sympathetical ones rather than performance ones.

I think Brazil can beat any national squad consistently except for Argentina. They are not the same when they go against us, thats evident. This being said, we are not better than them and they should be consider the #1 favorite to take the 2006 cup home (Although I believe the cup will stay in Europe).

looking back at this match i think that saviola would be the perfect player ive been mentioning for a long time as our speedy striker... if we can manage to get gila and crespo and let go of jdt and inzaghi then i would like to add saviola so that we would have more attacking options and more variety upfront... with sheva and gila starting and crespo and saviola fighting for a starting spot i cannot imagine a stronger attack in the world...
oh and he was excellent vs brazil
