YES!
yes he's old, but he will be of use to milan!
we need such a striker in our team, i am sure he will be on his top-form for Milan.
Sheva + Vieri awesome!
Sheva + Gilardinho with Vieri,Inzaghi,Tomasson as SUB = Best Strike Force in the World

Vieri and Sheva will be world class ! - I really doubt what will happend in the Crespo/Gila and maybe even Pippo case?!.
Gila must be an Milan player. He is 23 years old and will be the future of our club!

']oh my god :|
Does this harm Crespo/Gilardino?
This transfer has nothing to do with Gila's but I am sure it almost surely puts an end to the possibility of Crespo returning to Milan, unless we sell Tomasson (doubt that Pippo will leave) and get Crespo on loan. If Chelsea get Trazeguet from Juve, Crespo might be available then but latest rumours were that Chelsea were trying to give Crespo+money to Juve for Trazeguet, so ... he may very well end up in Juve next season.
Much as I want to say, "brilliant signing, Vieri is proven at the highest level, he's never relied on his pace that much so his age won't hinder him to greatly." one word keeps coming back to haunt me, Rivaldo, another totally oppertunistic signing that was completely disasterous.
If he is a replacement for Crespo, hopefully not to much harm done (though Carlo was a big fan of Hernan and was able to get the best out of him, will he be able to do the same with bobo?) if he is replacement for the proposed singing of Gilardino it's completely rubbish.

It´s a bit wired. Even before Vieri`s contract was terminated I in one post mentioned that Vieri was going to sign for Milan. I am searching for this post :)
wow.... well this is great... maybe he wants the san siro to be named after him instead of the legendary guiseppe meazza :D
gosh just read about it.. quite surprised... that definitely puts crespo out but i feel he should somehow be allowed to stay at milan considering he did score at very crucial points last season i.e. the two goals against man u champions league.. he definitely supported sheva i am not saying vieri wont but..
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/4653083.stm
very surprising indeed... well, he is a good player, rather injury prone though... but this definately puts an end to either Crespo and Gilardino - must likely Crespo...
Vieri-Shevchenko-Inzaghi-Tomasson - what a strike force..!
PIPPO and BOBO are prolly already locked up in a hotel room right now celebrating :D :howler:

Yes I also think that Crespo will not be a Milan player, Milan signed Vieri instead of Crespo!
Welcome Bobo!!!
Welcome Vieri!!!
I hope Bobo can demostrate to the Inter perdenti that it's not a recycle player, I hope he can score a lot of goals!!!

Gazzetta dello Sport quotes Moratti as saying "this is where he wanted to be." It is no secret that Bobo's closest friends played for Milan: business partner Maldini; best friend Inzaghi; former team-mates Seedorf and Brocchi. However, I have to say this is a shocking move. I didn't see this one coming.
Well then, much like the arrival of Pippo we as Milanisti must Welcome him with open arms. He is now one of ours .. he is now playing for the ROSSONERI and its time to put the bad blood (if any) aside. Pippo was truly hated here only to be one of the most ADORED individuals by the CURVA SUD. Bobo can still score goals...Bobo can still do some damage...he shall..FORZA VIERI..FORZA MILAN :3band:
Welcome to Milan Bobo! :3band:
I can't wait to see him score in the derby :D

I like the honesty in ya! Brahhh! Nobody saw this coming. For some time now I was content in knowing that Gila most likely will not be ours. Actually I would be more surprised if Gila is signed by us than being surprised by him not signing. I'll shoot one right outta my a$$ on this one by saying Gila will go to Real Madrid. WHY NOT???? EVryone else been shooting bvtt darts on the transfer market! I figure I might as well get into the game as well.
Well, let's think what's happens with the arrive of Vieri:
- Gilardino arrives, so with Vieri we have 5 strikers.
- Crespo stays and Gilardino goes to Inter or another team, 5 strikers
- Gilardino no goes nowhere, 4 strikers
- Gilardino no goes nowhere and Crespo stays, 5 strikers
- Inzaghi or Tomasson goes out and Gilardino arrives, 4 strikers
- Inzaghi or Tomasson goes out and Gilardino no comes to Milan (very unlikely)
What do you think?

My favourite would be Gila comes, Crespo stays, and one of Pippo/JDT leaves - 5 strikers is the bare minimum for a club like Milan.
But I would be content with just Gila coming here and keeping both Pippo and JDT.
as soon as we were linked i knew that milan wud buy him, he is experienced n free, milan alwais goes for these players. welcome bobo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First of all WELCOME CHRISTIAN VIERI!!! A type of player that fits perfectly into our squad, brilliant!
Secondly, we will not have 5 strikers, best bet is that Crespo is ruled out. The only question that remains imo is if Tomasson will leave aswell and thereby make room for another reinforcement namely Gilardino.
Forza Vieri!!!

Don't worry, this transfer doesn't hurt Gila's but almost certainly means that Crespo will not play for us next year. Gila is 23 yo and Milan sees the future in him, Vieri is soon to be 32 - not much of a replacement.

Inzaghi won't leave now Vieri is coming. He is one of his best friends and PROBABLY one of the reasons Vieri chose to come to Milan. Ancelotti will take advantage of their experience playing together at Juventus and use them as a strikeforce next season, when he rests Sheva.
I still think we can get Gilardino and Crespo will stay at Chelsea or be sold abroad, maybe to Juventus if Chelsea sign Trezeguet. I don't think this is such a big loss. I just don't think there is room for Inzaghi and Crespo. They are both box players and goal poachers, with no real pace or technically skillful but they can score goals. I would prefer a player who complements the talents we have so far and I think Vieri, Inzaghi and Sheva offer different skills, plus we now don't have to be blackmailed by Chelsea to leave certain players alone so they can bid for them i.e. Gilardino
We now need a player with real pace up front like Eto'o or Martins, is Gilardino that player? If not, then maybe we need to look elsewhere for a cheaper option like Michael Owen or even better Robinho, if the Real Madrid falls through.
i really hope we dont regret this transfer...
and i hope we can still get Gila
p.s.i'm sorry for crespo not coming
p.s.2 how much is his(vieri)wage?

I wouldnt make such guesses Zlat. It can also be a possible we get Crespo, Chelsea get Gila deal. They'll spend the $$$ we wont.
I am so Happy Vieri joined us, i have always dreamt of seeing him playing for us, Welcome Vieri, personally i would'nt mind if Gila did'nt come now as long as we get Crespo.
WTF!!!!!!!!!! He's 31 or 32 and he's past it.... If we don't get Gilardino I swear that I won't see a Milan match next season... neither on tv

First I want to say Welcome to Bobo in our squad. Well I'm hoping that he could become the kind of Pirlo and Seedorf. A bronze Inter players who become a gold Milan players. Honestly, I'mnot really a big fan of him, but to see Vieri as a new partner of Sheva or Pippo( If Sheva need a rest or injured), It sounds is like we have a deadliest Goals Machine.
Well, I'm dreaming of having Sheva, Pippo, Bobo, Gila, and Crespo in Milan's striker forces next season, but if we can't get Crespo, JDT is still a good back up.
Next Season goals are:
1. Champions League (A Must)
2. Seri A
3. Italian Cup

This signing makes things interesting, I am still waiting for Juve to get in on this Gilardino deal, since Chelsea seem to going after Trezueget (however thats spelled)
Oh Kui, I could never forget about Sheva! he is definitely my favorite player, yet Vieri could well be my new favorite womaniser replacing Bill Clinton

so that means you are going to miss the entire season, too bad, comeon Buddy I think our Club is making the right moves, is Milan let Chelsea have Gila, we can get Crespo and after one yr of failure for Gila at Chelsea we will get him too. :r11:

Yo Frankie6 fingers! This deals busting your ballz huh? Forgetaboutit! I know you believe in resurections. Remember how INTER whacked those guys Seedorf and Pirlo and how when they came to our famiglia they were brought back to life??? I think the same can be done for Bobo. Of course yeah the Gila deal is the sacrifice.

This is bull$hit of the highest order....oh yippie we signed another has been, who hopefully, and I stress the hopefully, we will rehabilitate and get something from.
I am completely amazed, though in all honesty, not really, just tremendously disappointed at this move....we now have 2 strikers, in Vieri and Tomasson, who added together, dont make one.
Why is Italy still in love with this loser? He NEVER performs in big games (see the WCup if you doubt me) and now we have aquired him?
I dont give a fcuk if he used to be great...he isnt now, and at his age, can only go downhill from here....what are we? An old age home for has been talent? This is crap...I hope that I eat my words and he has a 20+ goal season...but I REALLY doubt it...
I truly hope this doesnt mean that we have given up on Gilardino, who in my estimation is the best thing in Italy since pizza...
I am shocked, dismayed, and thoroughly put out at this move by the Milan suits...words cannot express my disappointment.
The only thing that can make up for this, is to see Gilardino holding up a Milan shirt at a press confrence under the caption "Milan capture Gilardino"...

I wouldnt make such guesses Zlat. It can also be a possible we get Crespo, Chelsea get Gila deal. They'll spend the $$$ we wont.
It is more common sense than guessing. Players like Gila don't come around every day and most importantly, unless they come from our youth program, they never come cheap too. One way or the other, a young striker who will be Milan's future is a must and whoever we end up getting - Gila or someone else - we will have to pay big bucks for him. Getting players like Crespo and Vieri is just a cheap way of fixing holes in attack while getting Gila is providing Milan with a new backbone for the future when Sheva won't be the same and maybe even not playing in Milan anymore.
If Milan were willing to make for Chelski in the Gila-affair, Crespo would already be with us, and he isn't, but more importantly, it would be a stupid move when your eyes are on the future.

i dont really think your being fair with vieri.
he has been outstanding wherever he has been. from la liga to serie a he has always consistently hit 20 or so goals in a season.
secondly for italy he has been both good and bad. granted he was nothing special in the last tournament but then again alot of that italy squad was useless too. he has had more than his fair share of injuries and this could be a problem.
however the guy is a free transfer who scores goals wherever he goes, hes not going to have to suffer any culture shock apart from joining a team that wants to win and i don`t think we can complain much because its not really a risk at all.
i`d take him over jon dal "where is the goal" tomasson any day of the week.
p.s. we must also rememeber we have done many, many bad deals before with inter. i mean look at simic, seedorf and pirlo!! i think inter are THE STUPIDEST people on earth..i mean have they not learnt there lesson?!
in fact do you know how stupid inter really are?!
brescia saw a young kaka when he was playing for sao paolo and approached inter about securing a co-option for the player. cuper at the time said no as it wouldn`t fit into his rigid 4-4-2 formation. inter also had the chance to sign ronaldinho but again cuper turned it down as it didn`t fit into his rigid 4-4-2...FOOLS!!!!!!!!

completely agree with you, there are too many obstacles trying to obtain Gila. plus Berlu is at the G8.

I think that Gilardino is still coming despite this transfer. We definetly won't be giving him to Chelsea now that Crespo isn't coming. We wanted to sign Gila and Crespo now we have Vieri, better than Crespo imho, and are still going for Gilardino. The best thing is this was a free transfer so Milan can devout all of our money to buying Gilardino.
Vieri is a solid striker and I think playing with Pippo will be good for both of them. Vieri is still capabke of scoring 20 goals, maybe a change of atmosphere is all he needed.

Kui, maybe it is you who has a problem and it is that you are so pissimistic on the Gila transfer - why do you think every other team is looking for other solutions if Gila and Milan wasn't already a close to sure thing with only a couple of formalities left to be determined. Chelsea are offering 10 mil euros more than Parma's asking price yet they are as far away from Gila as it gets. Why do you think the Crespo deal fell through and immediately after that Chelsea, from being one of the most serious Gila-contenders, started throwing bid after bid for half of Europe's center forwards until they finally seem to have attracted Juve's attention regarding Trezeguet? Chances are Chelsea did try to use Crespo in order to make Milan pull out of the Gila-saga but Milan didn't agree and that's why Chelsea started looking around for someone else, while Crespo staying at MIlan became more and more unlikely to happen.
The rumours that Juve, once they sell Trez, will enter a bidding war with Milan are coming from pessimistic people who probably walk around with a cyanide pill in their pockets. Juve would never do this for they know that what is going to follow would be bad for both Milan and Juve. When was really the last time Juve and Milan interfered with each other's business, especially when one of the two teams is so close to finilizing a deal? Chances are that most form members were not even born yet.
As for Inter, yesterday they were reported to be interested in stealing Gila from Milan. Moratti and Parma's managing director held talks and all of a sudden today Moratti says - "we are great even without Gila; we don't need him." Such a change in one single day after talking to Parma? Don't you find this quite suspicious?
What happened to Real? They were interested but after some talks with Parma they mysteriously puled out of the race and haven't been heard from in quite some time. Don't you think that there is a trend in here - all clubs, who have interest in Gila, after talking to Parma, for some reason they either start looking for some other striker or declair that they don't need Gila anymore?

These are the words of someone who has lost hope.
As for "hijacking" Dinho, since Barca are far from willing to even hold talks with another team, this "some millions" would have to be more like 100 mil euros for Dinho's buyout clause is somewhere between 100 and 150 mil euros.
If hijacking a player was easy, Chelsea would do just that with Sheva.
This is ONLY good with Gila coming to us, otherwise I do not feel that positive about this move. Gila was and should be first choice...

OK... I'm the one with the problem :p157: This is why I dont like the Summer. All the pundits have made nothing but guesses. Nobody is right about a darn thing. This Vieri signing is a good example cause none of us here had one d@mn thread about him here posted.
And so what happens when peoples guessing doesnt come true???? We blame Galliani and Berlusconi and ANcelotti like a bunch of spoilt brats.
All I am saying is that I'm not guessing one way or the other. He comes fine. He doesnt.... I'm not surprised. Can you say this???? I mean you havent given speculation.. you have given more like the false hope that he "is" coming.
The truth about Gila transfer is that if our club want him, he will be here. to hell with Juve, Chelsea and Inter. Gila does'nt want to go to england because he is not sure how long will it take him to adapt there, which in turn might cost him a ticket to Germany, that's 10 million euro extra rejected.
i hope this is the last Gila discussion on this thread.
PPL THERE IS MORE TO LIFE AND SOCCER WITHOUT GILARDINO.
we have managed to replace Van Basten, so Gila is no big deal.
he is welcome to come to Milan though Milan and I will survive without him.

I still don't think we are going to have more than 4 strikers next season, so maybe we have to forget Crespo and Gila.
Frankly, I really wanted Crespo to stay, he has shown his love to the shirt, I'm very sorry for him.

OK... I'm the one with the problem :p157: This is why I dont like the Summer. All the pundits have made nothing but guesses. Nobody is right about a darn thing. This Vieri signing is a good example cause none of us here had one d@mn thread about him here posted.

What do you mean???? It is guessing. :rollani:
Crespo is the leverage.
I am saying that if Milan wanted to sacrifice Gila for Crespo by pulling out of the "race" for Gila and thus making way for Chelsea, Crespo would be with Milan now. Reality is, Crespo is as far away from Milan as he has ever been. With the signing of Vieri, the chances that Crespo will play again for Milan are zero, while Gila is very close to becoming a Milan player now that Chelsea, Inter, Real have started looking for other solutions. As for Juve, they have never even held talks with Parma and never were part of any race to sign him - only the possible sale of Trez to Chelsea started these "rumours" Apart from that, there was never anything substatial in it.
completely agree with you, there are too many obstacles trying to obtain Gila. plus Berlu is at the G8.
Warro maybe we got Vieri to reduce the burden of losing Crespo while we Bid for Gila, you know Chelsea are playing games, maybe they catch one(Crespo) while we shake 2(Vieri, Gila) . ;)

Whether you like it or not, that doesn't mean it isn't true. Don't forget that all mentally ill people say just that - I am not insane. Don't get angry, this was just an example, I am not trying to say that you are insane, just dangerously pessimistic.
As for the Vieri surprise - if we get Gila, he will be our first choice striker and one of two main forwards, along with Sheva. Gila will be the future of this club. As for getting Vieri - he is just a cheap way of fixing "holes" upfront and nothing more. He is someone who would be used more as a plan B striker and is unlikely to start many games for us. Vieri has always been one of my favourites, but let's be realistic - he is 32 yo, injury prone, and not in great shape either. I am sure that Milan took Vieri hoping to "rejuvanate" him - just like Crespo - but this is something that is far from certain and borders with the unlikely. For this, he is indeed a surprise signing because he is not a player with bright future behind him but a player, who, IF brough back in shape by Milan, may prove useful in the Serie A/CL campaign, but he will hardly be decisive in them, as would be Gila if he came to Milan.

False hope? That, is the only thing I disagree with Kui....its isnt our many positive postings about the Gila transfer that is the problem, its the Milan suits, who went as far as signing a pre-transfer agreement with the player, and now, seem to be bumbling about in the dark...when they have a lighter and candle in their pockets.
What I am taking from this is that Gila doesnt want to go to any other club but Milan, and Milan have aquired Mr "Disappear in a big match" aka Vieri as they see their hopes for Crespo diminishing.
This situation will only be resolved when Parma realise that they will have to sell him to Milan...or face a player who will strike or something of the sort...and no club wants to keep a player against their will...no sane club at any rate..
So, as we should come to expect in the "silly season" we just have to sit and wait on the outcome of deliberations...and I will continue to pray that Bobo doesnt turn out to be Bobo the clown, but returns to his 20+ goal per season average that made him a household name world wide.

I am very happy that we have signed Vieri, obviously he has come here to win some trophies and enhance his chances to get into the World Cup, he most definately has taken a pay cut, he is a good addition to our already strong squad, I wonder if JDT will leave us now. and stop the stupid Gila thing.
it looks like crespo will leave - not JDT. JDT has pretty much resigned himself to being a simple off-the-bench player as he will be guaranteed a place in the Danish squad either way.

you also have point there, and when I agreed before with other post I was agreeing that the signing of Vieri doesn't mean that Gila isn't coming and it is wierd that other clubs have become disinterested, I was not agreeing that you were wrong because LORD KNOWS YOUR NEVER WRONG! :5130: . . . :uhm: . . . :dielaugh:
Many people said Crespo(not me0) was a Has Been, the same about Inzaghi(me included), but they made us eat our words, i have faith in Vieri, he has to succeed without any doubt for himself, the ticket to Germany is at Stake, all he might complain about is the playing time gets. Goals=Germany, every player wants to be there be it Messi or Vieri.
let's give him a chance. this is milan - not inter lol
Iv been away guys and I come back to this news. :987:
I wonder if we signed him to trade with Parma for Gilardino aswel as some money of course in which case we may still get Crespo. If so we made money out of nothing and it was a masterful move by Galliani.
If hes he to stay though, it could be a blessing in disguise (For me at least). For ages now I have wanted a strike partner for Sheva who isnt bad with the ball himself and can attack defenders too. Hes not exactly what I had in mind ie. Adriano or Etto, but how hard would it have been to try and get either of those two. Hes been really off form for a while now, but at his age how do you keep up with Adriani and Martins. Unfortunately hes very injury prone and will definately be trying to compete for a place in the national side for the WC. Im not sure he will be too keen on being Gilardino's sub (If he comes) when they are in direct competition for that WC striker role. One plus point I can think of is that he seemed to have fallen out of Mancini's plans. This doesnt mean hes not good enough though. Look at Davids, the season before he was amazing for Barca, but never really got a proper chance for Mancini who preferred zanetti and cambiasso.

No never the last player i wanna see at milan is vieriIif i was an italian i would have killed him when he misse the sutter aginst S.Korea during the final minutes of the match. He may be a warrior of many a battle but he has no speed,accuracy,power............maybe good at heading the ball...but no vieri certainly nooooooooooot
I am Italian and Vieri is the last person I wanted to KILL during these competitions..if anything Del Piero has been the root of all evil for the National Team: year after year he got a instant call up for no damn reason and no matter HOW he played he had a spot reserved...he never had one GOOD international campaign with Italy despite being dubbed a 'hero'. At least Vieri SCORED goals for Italy .. :5dito: Del Piero :5dito: did not score or contribute.
yes, I agreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee with you, "giubba rossa"!
Vieri was the MOM, in San Siro, the night Juve won 6 to 1 (Boban).
Now Vieri is in a good condition, while Crespo wasn't past summer
But, :dcool: first of all :dcool: , Vieri comes from sphInter, as a free agent!
That's great! :1ole:
Moratti's circus is really more powerful than prozac: Inter should be illegal! :djn:
we shall smoke them in a big chiloum :devs: once again
- why do you think every other team is looking for other solutions if Gila and Milan wasn't already a close to sure thing with only a couple of formalities left to be determined. Chelsea are offering 10 mil euros more than Parma's asking price yet they are as far away from Gila as it gets. The rumours that Juve, once they sell Trez, will enter a bidding war with Milan are coming from pessimistic people who probably walk around with a cyanide pill in their pockets.
I think it COUNTS NOW the Ibra's affair, last summer, between Milan and Juve.
Come on, this time our dear bald has all my appreciation, because I feel Gila as ours. :firedev:
MILAN
as far as i am concerned the move may not be good for milan........crespo was far better than bobo.i hate vieri coz he made italia lose in wc2002.i was dreaming of gilardino.....and look what happened???????i think the management is in an exclusive search for oldies....vieri partnering sheva will be utter failure.i guarentee that..if only gila comes

I dont mind adding Vieri, but I want Crespo and Gila here as well. Then, I could care less about Pipo and JDT. Crespo already said he isnt returning to England and will stay in Italy to play for us. I cant picture Hernan playing for Juventus, and its not the same thing with us and Inter.
Guess I forgot the most important; Welcome to Milan, Bobo! :)
I dont think it would be wise to get Vieri, Crespo and Gilardino. We need someone like JDT who will sit on the bench without making too much noise. Who knows maybe JDT has finally excepted hes just a sub and might start performing when he comes off the bench.
Besides we would have to buy Crespo and we are already not willing to pay the full price for Gilardino, I cant see us buying both, especially now we have Vieri.

yes logically the vieri singing means that Crespo will not be back, however you never know, as Kui has pointed out, what will happen in the transfer period.
Firstly, welcome Bobo, hopefully , somehow, someway you discover the form you had at Atletico and I wouldn't want to be Carlo. I feel like we have lost Crespo, this deal should have been done a long time ago. As for Gila, I don't know. Nevertheless, i hope this Bobo coup does not turn into Rivaldo spell two seasons ago.
All said i think Milan management has made the right moves this season. However, defensively i would have preferred a young central defender, and right back signed.
With such depth in the squad, I believe we will be playing in the Champions League in May 2006.

AC Milan have signed Italy international striker Christian Vieri, only days after he left Inter Milan.
The 31-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Rossoneri - having had his contract at Inter cancelled by mutual consent last week.
Vieri had been linked with a move to England, with Newcastle manager Graeme Souness admitting he made an enquiry.
The news comes as a blow to Chelsea striker Hernan Crespo, who is hoping to make his loan move to Milan permanent.
too late rookie. :5drunk:
There is a thread already about this.
Just mintues after AC Milan announced the signing of Christian Vieri, ‘Bobo’s’ former chairman Massimo Moratti didn't have bitter words to say about the new Rossonero.
“I don’t feel betrayed. And an attack made up by Shevchenko and Vieri doesn’t make me scared,” said the Inter supremo, who just last week dished out an additional 9 million Euros to the new Milan striker in order to rescind the deal binding him to the Nerazzurri.
Moratti also ruled out the arrival of Parma star Alberto Gilardino, who now seems far away from a deal with the Rossoneri due to Vieri’s arrival.
”We are fine as we are now with Martins and Adriano,” he said.

What a bad few hours. Dhorasoo sold, Messina #2 goalie signed for a year and now this clown from city rivals comes to Milan.
We've done pretty well to groom Inter players into classy players. Bobo coming here will be the first Inter failure at Milan. What a bad sense of direction to sign a 32 year old striker who will play his 33rd year with us. That's just amazing.
And we have TWO strikers in that age group now. Brilliant. The bar has been lowered from Crespo to Vieri. Signing Bosman players is ok if they do a job but developing a fetish for them is bordering on obsessive behaviour.
Can't believe that Gerrard is in the market and we haven't even inquired yet. :swars: :D

With Chelsea offering 35-38 mil pounds and Real rumoured to be ready to pay 40 mil pounds, there is hardly any need for an inquiry - he is just too expensive not to mention Gerrard being a success in Serie A is not exactly a certainty.

Tad harsh...Vieri's arrival was a shrewd piece of business. He might be 32 but he has still managed to score 12 goals this season.
And that notwithstanding his marginal role and injuries.
He was free and we needed a reliable replacement for Crespo.
I personally think this was a brilliant move and as far as Gerrard goes, I pray that an over-hyped Judas like him does not come here.
I want to see more Italian players in Milan and if our club conclude their transfer dealings tomorrow with Gilardino, then I will be completely happy.
Let's give Bobo a chance. He has been the best Italian striker in Italy for the best part of the last decade. I agree that our team has a few experienced (to put it euphimistically) campaigners in the mix, but have they really been that bad for us?
Cafu never tires, Maldini is immense and even Rui Costa remains effervescent.
And to top it off...the move comes as a massive blow to Inter fans who have lost their one-time talisman to a bitter rival. Indeed, the history of Inter players moving to Milan has been a rosy one for the latter.
So let's get behind our players. I have not said this yet...welcome Vieri.
All indications are Crespo>juve now, Trezeguet to Chelsea.
I have nothing against vieri now. The only thing i had against him was HE WAS A DAMN inter player. :) Now i can revel in the fact that an inter player has chosen Milan as the place to make his career flourish. REMEMBER people, this is the WC season and all players want to impress. I think Vieri is gonna have an AWESOME season and I can't wait to walk around town with a Milan VIERI shirt ;) ;) Welcome aboard BOBO!!!!!

i think this is a great signing and would be perferct if this happened:
1. milan sign gilardino
2 milan sign crespo
3. milan sell thommasson or inzaghi
therefore if we have
sheva, gila , vieri , crespo
likely situation
sheva , gila vieri, inzaghi, thomasson
worst situation
sheva vieri, inzaghi, thomassson
Lets hope parma agree on a fee and inter dont outbid us or if they do get gila we can buy martins !! but that def wont happen!

FFS WHAT IS IT WITH OUR TRANSFER POLICY? last yr we signed Dhorasoo, Stam, and Crespo - ALL OVER 30, the year before Kaka, Cafu and Pancaro, only Kaka is under 30! And please i dont want anyone to say "look at history, all players who come from inter to milan find their form and play good" because that would be just stupid.. vieri doesnt run the same way he used to, he doesnt even shoot the same way like before, he's just lost it.. and also because Vieri i tihink will be 33 in a week and all the other players we got from Inter were reasonably young..
I really cant believe how ppl here are saying how good our strike force is BY writing them down, Vieri, Sheva, Pippo, JDT.. only Sheva stands out, the other 3 are total flops at the current time.. even if Pippo finds his form, give him until midnight to get injured, maybe his hair might fall off so he'll take a 2 month break.. JDT? true he was extremely useful in our 2003/04 campaign, but he was a waste of space last year.. and VIERI? oh mygod.. if Vieri is supposed to be our 'surprise signing gift' and our 4th striker, this would certainly be our biggest transfer mistake..

now what happened on all those Ballack rumours? THAT would be an excellent aquisition, and a great grift, and possibly even Gerrard to replace Gattuso although im sure Gerrard wouldn't be able to match the Serie A as it was shown in the Champions league final, other than his goal, he wasnt seen ALL game.. maybe only when he changed position and played as a right back..
we also need a right-back, possibly Oddo, but i'd prefer Mancini.. and if Crespo doesn't come, this means we will have another Non-EU spot open, maybe we could use it, maybe we could even get Saviola

We've done pretty well to groom Inter players into classy players. Bobo coming here will be the first Inter failure at Milan. What a bad sense of direction to sign a 32 year old striker who will play his 33rd year with us. That's just amazing.
How can you know already that Vieri will fail? Do you know so much about football that you even can watch into the future? Nobody knows how good or bad Vieri will play next season! I hate it when people say that a player won't play good at Milan before he even played a single game! I know that Vieri played for our rivals the past seasons, but now he is ROSSONERO!
Let's give him a chance guys!!!!

It seems that most people are more interested in age of players than how they peform. Vieri is a bomber and has also proved this in Inter, where there even was big problems with Moratti, Mancini and the fans.
Milan maybe have an old team, but it`s a team that are made for winning. We could also sell all players above 30 years and buy new 23 years old players, and say that Milan in the comming 4 or 5 years only will learn and not go for trophies and in 2011 we will go for the scudetto, as the players than are at the top and have the necessary experience

I totally agree! If we would win CL or scudetto next season with the so called 'old team', nobody would say anymore that our players are overaged! I agree that our team is old but what's the problem? They are experienced and can win important trophees as 'Grande-Milan-DK' said.
An excellent deal in my opinion . With the news that Crespo move either permanently or extended loan has fallen through we secured a top-quality striker as a replacement . We should still bring Gilardinio at any cost as this will make our attack the strongest all over the world and tactically we need atleast three top quality strikers in a long campaign full of commitments demostically and continentally . Vieri is very strong physically and dominant in the air and his finishing rate is excellent . I see him complementing Sheva perfectly as he is an opposite type of striker . Unlike Sheva who is dynamic moving everwhere and drifting to the flanks and breaking from deep , Vieri is a pure poacher who is not involved much in build-ups but finishes off the moves . He needs support as he can't create a chance for himself and he would definitely find plenty from crosses from the flanks or passes from the midfield . May be the only drawback is he is injury-prone . Of course we are not going to judge him from his Inter days as they are natural losers . Enough to mention that Pirlo and Seedorf were playing there before and were major flops but became world-class once they made the switch . Hopefully Vieri would prove to be an excellent addition .

Gilardino yes, Oddo maybe, Bonera no
Gilardino yes, Oddo maybe, Bonera no
u`d seriously want oddo over bonera?
bonera is one of the best young defenders around whilst oddo is a one of those so called defenders who can`t defend...
please explain why you don`t rate bonera as i`m confused?

LOL - Bonera is by far not that good as many thinks. He have always been described as the biggest talent in Serie A, but that is 3 or 4 years ago. The last couple of season he have been really bad - just take a check in Gazzetta Ratings and take a look on the bookings. Give Bonera 5/6 years more, and than we see if he is ready for a big club.
Oddo is a player like Cafu, who want to attack this is giving problems for the other team as they have to cover for that.

:swars: :D
1) Name one first team player that will leave his team to go to Milan as a bench keeper? You wanted Buffon as Milan's number 2 perhaps?
2) Dhorasso was a great talent but HE wanted to leave. It wasn't Milan that sold him out. Milan offered him an extension but he rejected it
3) Milan made the real talent of players like Crespo, Pirlo, Seedorf, Simic, Ganz (All former inter players) come shining through. What makes you think we won't turn another, Vieri, into another example of how crap a team inter is? :)
Vieri and Sheva will be world class ! - I really doubt what will happend in the Crespo/Gila and maybe even Pippo case?!.
Gila must be an Milan player. He is 23 years old and will be the future of our club!
we can now have sheva vieri and crespo upfront :3band: :guw:

Calm down there buddy. I'm sure Milan's management now what they are doing. We all said there is no need to splash money on striker over 30. Now we haven't so all of our funds can be concentrated on bringing Gila to Milan.
veiri is a great signing but i wonder how the inter fans feel they gonna kill him
I am worried about his age but not his attitude. Everybody at Inter except Zanetti has an attitude. I believe that he will come around. Don't forget that Pippo had a huge attitude at Juve and now he is the text book definition of a loyal player :)
As long as we get another striker, I don't mind this deal. I feel bad for Crespo if that striker turns out to be someone other than him (which seems likely). I think he earnt his spot at Milan. :(
YES!
yes he's old, but he will be of use to milan!
we need such a striker in our team, i am sure he will be on his top-form for Milan.

The idea is to BLEND youth and experience. Right now with the exception of Kaka & Pirlo we don't really have anyone to lower the average age. Without a doubt Maldini is a season or two away from retirement. Where's his replacement? Same for Cafu. Same for Inzaghi. These guys need to be phased out. I am really happy that Kaldze will stay. I like him. Rough around the edges but a strong, experienced player. Bring Gila in for Inzaghi and Bonera for Cafu. Add Marek and maybe Oddo for width in midefield and we'll have ateam that will challenge NOW and in 2011 !

In my opinion the facts are as follows:
Crespo deal was off, so Milan wanted another replacement for him.
Gilardino was not his replacement as Milan wanted Gilardino even if Crespo's deal finished positively.
In the meantime when Milan knew that Crespo's deal was nearly over, Vieri came out and Juve were very close to catch him, but Galliani was quicker than Moggi and signed him. As Galliani himself said, on such deals you cannot wait.
I believe Milan made a great job. Milan has much less to loose than him.
He came free and if he will not perform to Milan expectations could easily find himself watching the game sitting near the spectators, and we all know that his aim is to play in the national team during the world cup.
And I'll believe that Vieri will do his best to succeed and we all know what his best means.

In a moment of sheer passion, vieri throws off his inter jersey in front of cheering crowds, to pick up his new AC Milan jersey. Finally freed from the shackles of ineptitude of Moratti and his pathetic team, Vieri can clearly be seen here, ecstatic to be ripping off his Inter Merda shirt.
Welcome to Milan, Bobo. May your relationship with Pippo flourish behind the trees at Milanello :)

IMO, a much better and complete striker than Adriano is Bayern's Roy Makkay. Makkay is the closest thing to a 25-26 yo Vieri I have seen and him partnering Sheva would a killer of an attacking duo.
Adriano has one strong left foot and that's about it. As for Makkay, it is difficult to find any week points in his game - excellent headers, thunderous right and left foot shots, fast, great poacher, and excellent at taking free kicks.
im not trying to be rude but which zanetti bro christian or javier :p017:

You're obviously joking! Not only does the man have a left foot that makes keepers scared, he's also big, extremely strong, great in the air and fast! If his right foot was as good as his left and if his form was more even, he'd easily be one of the greatest ever. I'd have in Milan before Makaay anyday, even though Makaay has been (and still is) a great player!
Yes I like Maakay to! He is a very talanted and good player! But he is 35 or so!

No I am not joking at all - yes he is physically strong and fast, but far from great in the air. If you compare him to Ronaldo - he would be great in the air, but if you compare him to Crespo, Makkay, Sheva, Vieri, and several others - he is at best decent. Also he can't take free kicks if they are too close to goal, only if they are from greater distance when one needs to whack the ball with force.
So, what is left - a great left foot and that's about it. Adriano scores spectacular goals but is far from being a complete striker like Sheva or Makkay - they play with both legs, great in the air, can take free kicks both close to and far from the goal, quick, and deadly finishers.
As for Adriano, he has to develop a lot in order to refer to him as "one of the greatest ever." - these words have become way too common these days. Gilardino is much closer to being a complete striker than Adriano but people often tend to exaggerate the skills of Brazilian players, who for that matter are a murchandise with far greater potential on the "best-ever" market.

actually he is 29, and was 27 when Bayern bought him from Deportivo, which is something we could have done.

Makaay borns in 1975 so now he has 30 years old (Vieri has 32)

Well, it seems we don't agree on this one! I hold Adriano in form as a better player than both Makaay and Vieri. In fact, he's probably the one player I'd most like to see playing for us. However, I do admit that I have a soft spot for the power-forward type of player, but he's so much more than that!
funnily enough, his attitude does not concern me, he's always seemed to get on well with members of our team, I think he's probably wanted this move for a while. He's always the only inter player at ceremonies for milan players, like Maldini's birthday.

whats with all this talk about not being a complete striker, not everyone is andriy shevcheko... give credit where its due. Adriano oozes class, defenders fear the man. If he bangs in the goals with just that left foot, Brazilian and Inter fans won't be complaining.
adriano is quality and definatly the best partner u can get for sheva these days... its stupid to say he only has a good left foot.... u didnt even mention his power, his speed and skillz compared to that body... hes alot more than just a strong left foot

it actually looks strange because the body is shevchenko's smaller figure and the celebration is not very vieri-like. lol.
I didn't think Vieri celebrated his goals, at least not at Inter ;)
Vieri is lucky to have Joined Milan, all his Sins have been Forgiven, the best part is that he will playing at the same stadium, living in the place, only his coaching and training has become much better, even ronaldo could'nt help Inter, now finally he will get some Silverware.

you guys want something spooky?
before the marek jankulovski deal in 1 day, i dreamt of it and thought it would happen, when i woke up and went to the news, and viola.. the day after that, i dreamt of a vieri move (not that i wanted it, i just dreamt it).. and then thought about it for a while, and really thought it was a very reasonable move, it made alot of sense, but at that time there was no rumours AT ALLLLLLL linking him to Milan, and viola, a month later, Vieri joins Milan..
last night i had another one of those dreams.. but this is kinda wierd, as we have Marek, Serginho, Pancaro, Seedorf and Kaladze that could all play in a left-midfield role.. the player i dreamt of us signing was... Ryan Giggs
what is going on with him, does anyone know? did he sign a new contract? when does it finish? is he happy? im afraid we might sign him becuz my dreams havent been wrong yet :P
Well, prepare to be wrong now then! ;)
hey hitmannn, i like your dreams, i think your dream about giggs will come true!! i think we need a winger as i said in the past... he is the right man for milan!!!
anyway i am happy about vieri's signing.. goodbye and thanks crespo!
we still have chance to sign gilardino! tomasson.. please leave milan!
If and when he comes. I'll believe it when I see it.
Whether you like it or not, that doesn't mean it isn't true. Don't forget that all mentally ill people say just that - I am not insane. Don't get angry, this was just an example, I am not trying to say that you are insane, just dangerously pessimistic.
Dangerously pessimistic I am not. Anyone here will attest that I have never said anything out of spite or anger about this team or how the directors manage it. I have always tried to my best abilityto look at the bright side of things regarding this club even through the hard times. I have never expressed regret and anger about losing games or Championships. Neither have I ranted like a baby in situations that we did not sign such and such a player. I feel this need to defend myself because apparently I say things insane people say. Neither am I ever so close to being "dangerously" pessimistic on any matter concerning this club ever. Perhaps it would be fair for me to say that some of you have been dangrously optimistic. Nothing wrong with that, but lets get real. I have already seen people here so sure that Gila is coming that in the case where the probability of him not coming ever occurs, I honestly will call it a day and retire from Milanmania for long spell. The b!tching and moaning is getting to me and I'm certain that may happen. I'm actually wishing that he does come only to stop the nagging going on.
I dont know how people cannot understand the concept of building false hope. My only attempt was to try to get people to see this in a mature way and already seeing some of the reaction of the Vieri acquisition, I dont see anyone with attitude reacting in any mature way if Gila does not come to Milan.
When you expect things that are not or never was yours, ones attitude will be that of a spoily brat. When the expectation is very little, small kind gestures will be gifts abound to the meek and humble.
Here endeth the Lesson
FORZA MILAN!

Sorry. I had to reiterate something that I forgot to say in the previous post. It is that I dont believe it is going to happen or not. What I am saying that as a practicality, I bring such ideas to a zero expectation to the table. That way such news doesnt come as a disappointment or shock. It isnt a matter of if I believe or not. If it comes, it comes. If not.. oh well his lost more than ours.
we`ve got to think in simpler terms. everyone is geting caught up in this saga.
all roads would suggest that the deal will go through but it hasn`t as of yet and we all know that 24hrs is a long time in football.
for example who would have thought steven gerrard would have changed his mind after 24 hrs and stay at liverpool? look how quicky capello left roma to join juve when everyone thought it was going to be either deschamps or prandelli these are examples of what could happen.
anything can happen in the next few days and on this board eveyone is hyped up (understandbly), we all thought the crespo was going to sign for us after the champions league loss but that didnt happen (its chelsea who held the cards) and for gila its parma who hold the card.
i am optimistic that this deal will go through but i aint jumping around just yet as i know alot can happen between now and then

It's a two sided coin though. Yes you will never be disappointed, but on the other hand your view of the world risks being very pessimistic. And who wants to see the glass as half empty all the time? :undecide:

Again I have to say that I'm not a pessimist. I just bring zero expectation to the table. It is called reality check. In life no one gets what they really want in life. All I'm saying is that with a little attitude adjustment you'll find the world to be a bit more kinder. Especially when like I said small gestures becomes a world of gifts. I see people everyday acting like freaks and are never happy when things dont come out the way that they had expected. I dont know how I can explain it to you folks any better. I'll tell you what though... I dont have a d@mn worry in the world as far as my life goes.
thats true henrik but doesn`t the steven gerrard saga prove mine and kui`s point?
that everything can change at the drop of a hat.
its not about being pesimistic or opimistic its about being REALISTIC.

Hey not been on here for a while so not had my say, just read through briefly and it all seems to be good and i couldn't agree more Vieri is awesome even if not as good as he was a couple of years ago he's still great and if he can stay fit you never know he might get back to his best, especialy with his heading, i'm writing this just after reading we got gilla too (football Italia.com) oh dear the best defence in the world now has the best attack in the world, look out europe lol all we need to do now is get rid of seedorf for some1 with a bit more passion then we'll have the best midfield too (sorry all you seedorf fans he just didn't do it for me last season)
Yeah, too bad we don't have the best midfield in the world :(
u find me a more balanced midfield and i might think twice about us having the best 1 in the world.
oh and for the record we also have the best goalkeeper and the best coach and the best management and the best environment!
Hardly the best...
Effectively, in 75% ++ of the matches, we played with two people in midfield (Pirlo and Gattuso, not counting Kaká as a midfielder).
Seedorf was sh!t for 95% of last season, and more often than not, it really looked like we were playing with 10 men :(
yeah but if we manage to get the kaka to find his best form, and let gattuso retain his determination while seedorf starts to look sharper u get the best midfield in the world... besides if seedorf doesnt find his old form then u always have jankulovski and serginho
the best midfield in the world whoever it is in ur opinion if their players arent playing good cannot be the best midfield in the world... this was the case with milan... when i say they are the best in the world i mean when their playing good football and not when theyre having a bad season like the one gattuso, seedorf and kaka had last season

I look upon both Jankulovski and Serginho as wingers though, and that's hardly Seedorf's role in Milan's midfield.
I'd love for someone to come to Milan, and take Seedorf's place in midfield, as I doubt he'll ever have a consistantly good season again (but I'd love to be proved wrong by him).
And also for Ambrosini to play more matches, he's a great player, too bad Ancelotti has his own favorites, and don't use the rotation system as much as he should have :(

He's right you can't really defend seedorf last season he was crap, he needs replacing with someone like lampard or Ballack or even totti, i really think seedorf is a lazy player and it put pressure on kaka and pirlo so they can't play at there best.
Anyway this post is about the great signing of Vieri so i'm saying no more on this :respect:

I doubt he will return to his top form. Ever since the 2002 world cup, he has been going downhill

let's not forget he was playing for Inter - name a great player, who once he put that Inter shirt on, didn't see his career flushed down the drain.

Watch out for Vieri having a very good year and being a starter next to Sheva... he is motivated to prove everybody wrong and I have the feeling he will have a very good year. He just needed a change + he can't play with Adriano.

i always think of this situation vieri has 2 years left right should we play him for his last years at football or gila who is desperate for international spot they both are even inzaghi but less chance for him so guys who do u think should partner shevchenko upfront

Gilardino mainly... although everybody will have a chance

I don't think we need Ballack...
I would rather have someone who can play as a right midfielder (and of course not demand to be a starter in all games)...
I believe we're understimating Seedorf...
he may not be as spectacular as others, or score many goals, but he has an important role... he carries the ball... and complements the work of other midfielders...
Gattuso fights, Pirlo passes, and Seedorf takes it to Kaka or the forwards to create attack... choose any game you may have on tape, and count the number of times he touches the ball, you'll be surprised...
Now, if you really want options, I like Rosicky (czech, playing in Bundesliga)
i like seedorf alot but i think getting ballack would solve more than one problem, u have gattuso whos not really special going forward so ballack could play in his place in certain games because hes great going forward and hes not bad at all defensivly, u have pirlo who at times seems to give to much space for the opposition to shoot because hes not good defensivly and hes small, ballack would do the exact opposite, as for seedorf well its no guarentee hell bounce back from his terrible last season while ballacks characteristics are close to those of seedorfs IMO, finally ballack could be a kaka's replacement at OM when kaka is out and thats especially if kaka has another bad season
Seedorf was somewhat weak at the end of last season, I agree, but his overall performance was good... don't forget he scored most of the goals Milan had during the first few games of the season.
Kaka's season was also good, just not as impressive as the first one because rivals where aware of his skills, and pressured him more.
I will give you that Ballack is talented, but he has no charisma, cold personality... doubt he would do well for the internal atmosphere of the squadra.

i think ur being harsh on him... ballack is a fan favorite
Sorry, not trying to be rude... just explaining that as important as skills are, good atmosphere in the group is also very important, and I don't see Ballack as part of this specific group.
Never trying to be harsh...

Vieri was DISGUSTING against Chelsea, he made me sick. FKING GALLIANI, how stupid to get Vieri instead of JDT. Is he blind or what? It was so obvious that Vieri´s time is over.
I would like to know what the ppl who thought Vieri would do good this season think.
It is true it is only pre-season, but i haven´t seen ANY improvements for Vieri from the player he was at Inter

Could you please remind us what your words were regarding Crespo's first performances from last season, about the same time? I honestly doubt it was anything way too different than the quite ignorent comments you just made about Vieri.
No offense, but maybe next time, before posting something like this, you might actually give a thought or two first, before you start creating pieces of geniune art like the one above.

sheesh hitman...so the guy was not at his best but give him a chance. It is pre-season like you said, why all the insults?
If you said all that about Crespo then I bet you stood to be corrected. I guarantee you Vieri will be a force for us. Why do you hate him so much? I still have not understood why you were so negative about Gilardino either...it was shocking to say the least, notwithstanding all the explanations.
Here is my assessment of Vieri's performance yesterday...Good movement but still not match fit and first touches could be a bit better. But I can say that about everyone who was on the pitch yesterday.
Forza Bobo!
Take it easy guys... no one is in shape now... mentally nor physically...
it makes no sense to go crazy if he, or Gila, or any other player scores 3 goals per game... the important thing is what they do when it counts...

Do you know that Back in Black is the highest selling rock album of all time with over 40 million copies. It is also one of the top 10 selling albums of all-time.
AC/DC rules. :dcool: :v408:

i was pissed off after the game :P
but crespo did have a few good games before he joined milan, he wasnt completely finished... but vieri hasn´t played one good game as the Christian Vieri we all used to know in a very long time.. thats why i have HUGE doubts.. im gonna give him 2 more chances against Chicago and Chelsea before I comment again :/
I was very harsh on Crespo? Maybe not convinced, but i certainly was happy when he joined..
ull have to give vieri one whole season like u did to crespo... it took crespo 6 months to satisfy 3/4 of the people here now theyre whinning why he went back to chelsea... give vieri a chance. and please find a positive attitude because really all u do is complain (with all due respect)
INZAGHI: 'How beautiful to play off Vieri'
7/27/2005
MILAN - Tuttosport reports an interview with Filippo Inzaghi from Belgium. The striker said: ’Am I still chasing Di Stefano's record in Europe? Of course, it is my will. Just think, I'm one goal from it, 48 against 49 in the Eurocups: how could I consider it out of my reach? On August 9, I'll turn 32 but the gift I want to give myself is to be fine, even though I'll have to open it late. I think I'll be my old being in a month, I can recover from my injury. I don't want my goals to be part of the memories, I want to score more, live certain emotions again, run under the Curva in the unique atmosphere of a packed and cheering-up San Siro: I miss it like the air I breath.'
Pippo also revealed his team-mates called him in the past few days: ’[Massimo] Ambrosini, [Andrea] Pirlo, [Christian] Vieri, they all phoned me... I've not seen them on TV, but Bobo was enthusiast. He asked me how long will it take to me to return, as if I were happy to stay here... Vieri and I together at Milan, I would have never guessed it. Everyone knows what we have done together in the National team. It will be beautiful to play along with him again.'
everyone does know what you have done together pippo and bobo, everybody does ;)
