View Full Version : Pancaro to Messina?
Pancaro Close To Messina Move
7/8/2005 4:40:00 PM
Messina chairman Piero Franza revealed the Sicilian club is close to signing Milan defender ‘Pippo’ Pancaro.
“We have reached an agreement with Milan, now we have to see what the player says,” Franza told Italian radio station ‘Radio Radio’.
Pancaro joined Milan two season’s ago on a free from Lazio.
An eventual move to Messina would mean the end of Pancaro’s glory days, and for this reason it appears difficult Pancaro will accept the move down South.

This means we will for sure get a new defender, if Pancaro decides to move...
He was brilliant two season ago, but last year he looked a bit slow and out of shape...!

With Janku coming to Milan, Khaka staying with us, and Maldini there too, I honestly didn't see too much space for Pancaro, if any. This would be a very logical transfer, IMO.
But it should mean we will get a new right back as backup for Cafu...

But it should mean we will get a new right back as backup for Cafu...yeh and his name is massimo oddo from lazio ?
I hope, that would be great, but I have my doubts...
good this means now we have to sign Oddo or Cassetti

who do you prefer mate casseti or oddo ?
Not to be a pessimist, but maybe Milan Management has faith in a healthy Simic as Cafu's backup...
Really depends whether they want Cafu's backup to be of Cafu's type, or not...
And seeing as how important Cafu is to Milan's playing style, I wouldn't be surprised if that is what they want...

Good point, I guess it also depends on if Milan will play 4-3-1-2 or 3-4-1-2 next season.
Yup.
Though, afaik they said they'll continue with the 4-3-1-2, but experiment more with the 3-4-1-2 formation.
IMO, Milan should play the 4-3-1-2 (I hate 3-man defences, i feel they're more unstable), but some experimentation with a 3-man defence with (probably) Cafu and Jankulovski on the wings, wouldn't be too bad an idea... ;)

That would be great Simic did a good job in his first seasson but Pancaro is a good backup I think he should stick to him

I generally don't like a 3 man defense, but I will make an exception for:
Maldini - Nesta - Stam
It would also allow Gattuso to play more centrally. And you can hardly play a four man defence with Cafu and Jankulowski as that pretty much means you have a 2 man defence ;)
i think we should let him go... a fee of 2M should be fine and this could be used to sign oddo along with some extra 2M

I think that milan will accept the offer because we got kakha and Janku for left and Cafu and Simic for right. Maldini and Costacurta can play at the wings either so Peppes' pay check can give milan some financial balance. Pancaro barley played at the right wing so we will handle without him.

Good, although he performed MAGNIFICENTLY in our 03/04 campaign, i think its about time he leaves, and we could probably kick him in his butt on his way out.. nah just joking :P
Thanks for everything Pippo! :)
I do not think we will use Simic as right back. Him and Costacurta will mainly be used as backup in the centre - so I am quite sure we will bring in a new right back.
