View Full Version : Miss Of The Summer
I think we missed a great chance in failing to buy park who went to man utd,he created havoc in our defence when we played psv, and for 4 million pound its the signing of the summer

Lets us not assume things, let's see how he does at Manu and come to the conclusion. he did create havoc no doubt, but lets see how he progresses under a new manager. :p1510:
i disagree, i didnt find anything special about him, it was lee who destroyed us
miss of the summer i think was probably van bommel for us... hes like a copy of ballack and he was free

i agree lee was amazing and the way he toke on cafu was amazing and now everyone is after lee his moves his speed and his coverin in Def was good but about Park he is good but like Khirs said lets see how well he does in Man united
Park was more amazing than lee,and i have followed park progress in the champions league and he was just awesome thats why man utd bought bcz he had a spectacular season with psv,so will we regret it but time will only tell

what is Park real postion is he attackin mid like kaka or striker if striker then i dont have to say they wont be anyplace for him as attackin mid he can as be in place of Rui when he leaves
Park can play in any midfield position so thats a big bonus

Dont know if I regard him as a big miss....we did the business to properly reinforce our team, and I dont think I disagree with any of our aquisitions (Except Vieri :moan: though that was good business to aquire him free), though I do wish we had signed someone like Kompany, to reinforce the back line.
I think people confuse Park with Lee.

Kompany would be good by next year i guess one of the big clubs has deal with him to keep him till next year
Maybe this will sound strange, but, we could have some defensive problems next year. Cafu and paolo can do it, but will have to be rested and we dont have enough bench-defenders for RB. stam can replace maldini if maldini plays CB. On the LB there are kaladze, jankulovsky and serginho, but serginho sucks in defence. And one more thing, we could really use strong midfielder, except rino and ambro, someone who can also PLAY football!! Something like emerson and vieira, and juve has them. That is why miss of the summer was... Bommel!! He was free and would be perfect in place of gattuso, sometimes.

I agree with that, Van Bommel was the bargain of the summer and im surprised Barca got him so easily. Milan could have gone for him instead of Vogel but i assume they didnt as they were only looking to cover the position not replace one of the current starters.
Im more dissapointed Utd didnt go for him though, a central midfielder is the main target and Van Bommel on a free would have been ideal. It looks like Fergie has someone else in mind...
I do think Park was a great signing though, the deal will pay for itself over time and he has real quality and energy too :D

Mmm i wouldn't agree, it was one of his only good games ever, Man united have a habbit of buying players on the back of a few good performances,
I think the miss of the season would of been Vieira now Juve got him.

Juve paid 20 mil euros for a 29 yo Vieira and this is hardly a miss of the transfer season. Vieira is a big name in football but he is not exactly a player for the future and has often failed to live up to the expectations as he tends to "take cover" in big games.
I have to agree with those, who think that Van Bommel was an opportunity we shouldn't have missed - a very good player but above all he was available for free. IMO, it is the latter that makes him the "miss of the summer".

I really don't understand why Vieira is so celebrated. He is combative but exudes lethargy.

when i read the original title of this thread i thought it was about the best looking, unattached woman of the summer. :guw:
Misses of the summer :)
them two upfront would have been a "handful" for anyone.
i think I could cope quite admirably with them though!!
:lick:
Should we fail to reinforce the midfield (read: find a replacement for Seedorf), that would be the "miss of the season"... (And we probably will  )
Should Ballack leave Bayern München for another club, and that club wasn't Milan, he would definately be my "miss of the season" :(
I guess that Jankulovski will battle it out with Seedorf for a place in the midfields left side, so I see no reason in reinforcing midfield further. The defence worries me much more - we need cover for Cafu...
No, i fear Jankulovski will be used as a left back, even though that position should be Kaladze's to keep (Maldini and Nesta as central defenders ftw).
we shouldnt use maldini as a LB anymore, its clear ha cant do that as he usede to do it. Janku will fit well. Maybe seedorf just had bad season and he can find himself again, we will see. But, we definately need RB and good DM, better than ambro,if we dont get it we will MISS scudetto. A now, with vieira, who will score against juve???? and judges, of course...
Van Bommel definately.. a free transfer, wow! Barca's midfield will be amazing. Both Barca and Juve, who are Milan's biggest rivals in CL imo, have all greatly improved their midfield...I really do hope Milan get a an offensive midfielder, that would be the miss of the summer.
Thats why park would have given us something extre in terms of dimension of the squad and he can run all day and he has electric pace, skills, and control

Vieira has the experience and though might not be THE best, he is competent enough to partner Emerson... I think he was the only suitable (available) candidate out there to fill in the place and we bought him for a fairly reasonable price. I HATE arsenal more than I do with Roma so I find it a little bit hard to adjust to the fact that Patrick is now in Juventus, but once a player wears black&white there's no two-ways bout it... you support them so long they continue wearing the jersey.
I think the situation with V Bommel is worse than that of Park. He was free for gods sake.
Reminds me of last two seasons when D'Alessandro went to WOLFSBURG instead. (wasnt sure if he was free though).

Oh, I am VERY saddened with Maresca's transfers... I'll have a word or two with Moggi
Maresca should have come to Milan to replace Dhorasoo.
Would have been excellent.

Alberto Gilardino will be the miss of summer 2005...
smoje..it appears all the stuff written was false...tomasson has just been sold to stuttgart...it is on the official MILAN site.:D
I wouldn't really call these 2 names a miss as such, but it would have been nice to have seen Milan show some public interest in Pizzaro and Baptista.
I can't for the life of me work out why Pizzaro chose to go to Inter when they have a huge amount of midfielders already, particularly central ones. It would be a shame to see him rot away on the bench, so i guess in that respect i think we could have been a better club for him.
As for Baptista, i know he'll probably cost a pretty penny or two, but he seems to have everything you could want in an attacking player, plus he has bags of energy and can put himself about a bit bringing some much needed strength to our team. It's hard to judge him solely on last season, that could have been just a fluke or it could be the sign of things to come. If it is the latter, we should definately wade in and buy him. He could be played in either Seedorf or Kaka's role, or even up front if we were that short of players.
I know we'll be spending money on Gilardino (although isn't that from Berlusconi's money anyway and not from the transfer fund ?) but for me, it would be worth investing in Baptista, just like we did when we bought Shevchenko and Nesta. We don't seem to have many bargaining players left anymore, but if we gave them around £15 million + Rui Costa and Simic ... maybe that might tempt them ?? I know Arsenal and Barca are strong favourites to sign him if he does move on, but maybe the chance to play in the same team as Kaka might tempt him ? It's worth a shot i think.

I also don't understand how aplayer like Pizzaro could go to Inter given all the history they have in ruining careers. I am honestly amazed how willing he was to go there after all. It is true that Inter have a lot of central mids but I am guessing that C Zanetti would be forced on the bench and Pizzaro will couple with Cambiasso in the center with Veron most probably used on the wings.
But no matter how good Pizzaro would have been in Pirlo's role at Milan, I am more sold on Baptista for the Brazilian redefines the meaning of a "versatile player" - this guy can play, with success, in every single position starting from Pirlo, through Seedorf and Gattuso, and ending with playing as a target man. By getting him we will solve with a single shot all problems with a Pirlo sub, another strong and able midfielder, a Kaka sub, and the need for a 5th striker. The problem with him is that Sevilla are playing hard-to-get and have just recently refused a 20 mil euros offer from Arsenal. Barca are also reportedly after him. I am not sure that Baptista is proven enough for this type of money but I wish we were at least interested in him and I haven't read anyhting on this.
many people in the world are like that and its not just arabs... ur statement is stupid
Trust me bro, you are being very naive.
There's also Stankovic, Solari and a good chance they could get Figo aswell. Not to mention Davids, Recoba and Van der Meyde. I know the last 3 are expected to leave, but one or two may stay if the right offers aren't found. Pizzaro must have been guaranteed a starting place, otherwise he's a fool to go there.
As for Baptista, he's scored 38 goals in Spain since his move from Brazil, that's a fantastic return for the $2.8 million Seville paid for him. What a shame we didn't get him when we bought Kaka :D
The signs seem to indicate him wanting to stay in Spain to get a Spanish passport, although that doesn't mean he won't move. If this is the case, i would expect Barca to be at the top of the queue. However, if he's willing to move and we can play the emotional strings by sending Leonardo and getting Dida, Cafu, Kaka et al to talk to him in casual methods, he could be tempted i'm sure. It is a fair bit of money, but i think he's worth it.

its stupid just to say many arabs are racist.. because racism is everywhere in the world ... infact if u ask me its seems to be least present between us arabs... in s.america theres alot of racism, same goes for the US, and many european countries (evidently from some football games)... i lived in an arab country all my life and i really cant think of any really big racist problem here.
as for baptista, he said he would leave only for a spanish club because he wants a spanish problem which will grant him better options in his career, so if hes to come here it will have to be the following year, thats why he rejected arsenal, truth is that he actually wanted to leave sevilla

Been a Milan fan you should also be careful about calling players who go missing in the big games as we seem to have a team who make it a habbit but you still wouldn't get rid of any of them (apart from seedorf maybe) this is also a big miss cause he's gone to our main title rivals where van bommel will just be a fringe player at barca behind Xavi, Deco, Ronaldinho, Giuly and would only be a threat should we happen to meet them in the Champs league but meeting Juve in the league is inevitable...

Every1 has a different opinion its the whole point of these forums, but Arsenal didn't go 49 league games unbeaten on hopes and prayers, there captain and star striker had something to do with it but yet In this forum all i've heard is there 2 best players are crap and i dont get why, what because they haven't won Europe? it doesn't always go to the best team as we well found out this year.
I live in England and get Arsenal games rammed down my throat and the influence he had on that team is second to none (well second to Maldini :1d31: )
Like you i hope i'm wrong but i can't see it unless we strengthen our midfield but at the minute Inter and Juve seem to be buying all the midfielders, the Bast*rds

You can DL a compilation of some Gila goals here:

This link was provided by m1ke in the Gila to Milan?? thread. You do need to DL all three files in order to unzip them with a program called WinRaR (similar to winzip). The quality isn't top notch but it will give you an idea what a wonderful striker we just signed.
Rafael Van der Vaart has to be the miss. he went for a mere £3.5 million to hamburg
Great vid Zlatanov, the guy is a natural born finisher and considering its 2 seasons worth of goals WOW  hes got a great first touch and he can volley the ball like Van Basten :ilol: Just hope he can reproduce that for us.
