Nobody here has got a problem with new members and their posts or threads they create.Yet,before ``getting on to work`` immediately after you sign in,you could(not a remark but a friendly piece of advice) do a little bit of research on what is going on and what kind of threads we`ve had so far.Currently the discussions about transfers are rather popular and barely does one now think about who`s better between these 2.Also,as it`s mentioned above ,these kind of discussions are indeed a bit useless because it is a wide issue to be discussed. So it`s not all just about posing the question.Make sure you give some arguments when trying to set up a thread like this one(which ,i`m pretty sure,we`ve had already).
The thing is that every part of this precious space we here share is important and is not to be used for irrelevant topics or topics that we already have.
That said,i wish you a very warm welcome to MilanMania and don`t take this personally. As i said, this is also a piece of advice and some sort of a reminder to all other new fans.
:)
Welcome shevchenko_fan
I moved this thread here, because it is not specifically Milan related. And I agree with Dragana (ariel) post above.

I voted for Henry, he makes better adverts :)
I voted for Henry for my own opinion reasons,
sheva is a better because he never ever bottles it in the big games and consistently scores at the highest level (all the time with milan in the champions league he seems to be able to raise his game and more recently guiding ukraine to the top of there group in WCQ 2006), also being top scorer in the most difficult league also proves a point.
henry never seems to be able to impose himself at the highest level, just look at the champions league and his performances internationally.
henry is rated because in the EPL he is given the space to run into.
they dont really seem to care about defending or concerned with the tactics involved in playing, dull, boring football (otherwise known as keeping a clean sheet).
i also think henry suffers from being brought up as a winger. a natural striker like van basten, batistuta, lineker, RVN., romario etc.. all use the smallest of space and timing to make those typical "off the ball" runs in and around the box. henry never seems to do that, and then at the highest level when teams squeeze up and defend as a unit there seems to be little for him to do as there is no space for him.

No matter how good Kaka is(he is really good), he is not the best player in the world at the moment. i would even rate Lampard over him.

Lampard is probably more effective, but Kaka is more skillful and younger, so id rate them about even :)
I think the top 3 in the world are Ronaldinho, Henry and Sheva. Its hard to put them in order but if i had to..... Sheva is imho the most consistent of the 3 so i'd rank him 1st because of that

Kaka' needs some more time before he will be the King of the world. But he will.
I wouldn't rate Lampard over him, though; however, Khris, your avatar is TERRIFIC! :rock3: :sexe:
Lampard has'nt missed a game over the past 3 years, no injuries, no suspensions, truly a modern day wonder, i guess over the last couple of years i think he has grown the most as a player. :w262:

Of course everyone on this forum will say schevchenko is better. I like to see how Henry would play in the Seria A. You can not compare a Premier League player to a Seria A Player
even if i was a arsenal fan ... its really easy to see who the better player is

If you were an Arsenal fan i am certain Henry would get your vote ;)
its too obvious man... TOOOOO OBVIOUS!!! ... sheva is way better, and besides any neutral fan with a brain that works would chose sheva
Stezagud

Its obvious to us, yes, we know Sheva is the best striker on earth
But if i could pick any player to partner him it would be Henry, he isnt as good a striker but he has so much else to his game. As he is a converted winger he doesnt have the same killer instinct as Sheva but he does have a midfielders understanding of playmaking and the vision and ability to take that understanding with him when he moved to striker. Because of that he is probably the best allround attacker in the world, as he can top lists for both scoring and assists.
Both are capable of scoring the spectacular or the simple. I think Shevchenko is more technical in his finishing, but as Stezagud pointed out Henry makes more assists and can play great passes. They can both drop deep and collect the ball, i think Henry is better at beating people and is probably a little faster than Shevchenko. It's a very close thing, you can't judge accurately unless one of them plays in the other league. For us it's Shevchenko, for Arsenal fans it's Henry and for the neutral they would enjoy Shevchenko's finishing and Henry's showmanship. I would hope the Milan fans are wise enough and intelligent enough to appreciate Henry, just as i would hope Arsenal fans would do the same for Shevchenko.
In my opinion, if Shevchenko wasn't at Milan i would want Henry instead. For me he is the next biggest threat in terms of strikers. Ronaldo isn't quite the same now, Adriano can be just pushed onto his right side where he's weak, Van Nistelrooy won't beat lots of defenders to score. Henry just has more of a threat about him than most strikers.
IMO the best 5 strikers in the world are:
1- shevchenko
2- adriano
3- zlatan ibrahimovic
4- etoo
5- gilardino
i think i can add another 5 then id put henry
Stezagud

I agree with you that Henry isnt a top striker (though i he is still better than some in your list imho ;) ) but what me and Jim are getting at is that its his all round game that makes him so valuable.
He isnt a great finisher (though his finishing is underrated at times) but the only player who can match his overall attacking ability is Ronaldinho.
I have to disagree with your list MK. For me Etoo and Ibrahimovic haven't proven anything yet, they are definately not above Henry, even though they are very good. Adriano also has alot to improve before his all round game is anywhere near Henry's. If you push Henry onto his right foot, he could still beat you or at the very least retain the ball. You push Adriano onto his right foot he'll probably kick the ball out for a throw or fall over. All the players you mention (aside from Shevchenko) are young strikers who have had one or two good seasons. Since Henry has been at Arsenal he's scored 20-30 goals a season nearly every season, none of those others can come close to that.
Everyone has there favourites, that's understandable. I would always want Shevchenko, but i still stand by the fact that for me, Henry would be the only other striker who could get involved in our team the way Shevchenko does.
I'm an Arsenal fan and IMO, Sheva is better. I don't really know how to explain it but from what i've seen, Sheva is the better one. Its like in whatever situation in whatever match, Sheva will somehow find a way to score no matter what. Its like in the important games, Sheva rarely never scores, the result can be 2-0 or 1-0 and it will be Sheva's name on it. Technically, Sheva can do it all whereas Henry, well he's better at Free Kicks but his headers leave much to be desired.
Also, from what i have observed, they both like to play on the left and drift into the penalty area, sort of like a wing forward. That way there is really no positional sense and the markers have a hard time. This i think opens up spaces for other players and causes confusion.
I have a good feeling that we haven't even seen the best of Henry yet, i have a feeling this EPl season will be Henry's. Last season at Highbury, he's made captain and he's the man to lead Arsenal to the championship. I just have this feeling he's really going to go all out.
Anyway, they're both really great strikers and i really enjoy watching them.

It's a hard decision to make as they play in different leagues and play different styles of football.
Sheva is the better striker
-I've seen Henry crack under pressure TOO often. Sheva is by far the more clinical finisher, and while both strikers score spectacular goals, I've seen more of them come from Shevagol. Henry can do amazing things with little space, but if Henry is good taking shots in small places, Sheva is EXCELLENT.
Henry is the better player
- I do, however, think Henry is the better player. AGAIN, it's a tough decision, but Henry is definitely more versatile. Sheva is fast, but Henry is faster. And given space, Henry can leave defenders behind whith quick movements. His nature of a winger gives him the talent to either run outside the box and send in an assist, or cut inside and take the shot. He may not be the most clinical striker, but given space, he can make more magic than Sheva. He probably has more control of the ball dribbling at high speeds, and above all, he's the best in EPL.

Sheva is better. Of course that I think this because of Milan. hahahaha

i think etoo had some amazing seasons at mallorca before he got recognized properly and barca got him and he didnt dissapoint as he was easily their man of the season... as for adriano well like etoo and zlatan ive been following them closely eversince they burst onto the screen and from his time with fiorentina i could tell the guy would be a star and ever since he hasnt dissapointed at all... his seasons with parma were his best though with inter hes still their best player. zlatan from his time with ajax was similar to adriano only he scored much less, when he joined a bigger club he scored more, i think thats enough to make him one of the most lethal strikers out there, definatly better than henry.
muppy, if u think sheva is better then why did u vote for henry? :5drunk:
I can see your point MK, but what if Zlatan's first season was just a fluke and in his next few seasons goes back to scoring very little like he did with Ajax ?? The point i'm getting at is that Henry has consistently scored heavily in all the seasons he's been at Arsenal and in that respect, none of the others you mention can match that.
Although i admit one reason for that is because he is older and therefore had more time to do this :D

they have done well recently but i wonder how much better you think those leagues are than the EPL to cover the difference? I read (and this may be wrong but i doubt its wrong by much) that on average Henry has scored 26 a year and assisted 14. Zlatan and Etoo probably average half that much, which would mean their leagues have to be more than twice as strong as the EPL to make them better than Henry. Do you really see that much of a difference?
Also Henry, despite his reputation as a choker in Europe, has over 40 goals in Europe at a rate similar to Sheva's.
i think that italy and spain are much much much better than the epl but not twice as much... but thats not the right way to compare it... mentally, theres a much bigger chance of seeing henry flop in italy than the chances of sheva, zlatan, etoo, adriano in england IMO... personally i find it much easier for players to adapt to the epl than other leagues because i think its easier but thats just what i predict its not neccesserily true

I disagree about the strength of the leagues, if Liverpool can win the Champions League (though Milan should never have let them back into the game :( ) as well as putting out Juve but struggle all year in the EPL then i think it shows the leagues are a lot closer than that. The results between the top sides of all the major leagues were usually seperated by just 1 goal.
As for players adapting, its really hard to predict, i was sure Crespo and Veron would succeed in England but they didnt (Crespo has another chance to now) i wasnt as sure with Mutu but his record in Italy suggests he should have done a lot better than he did. Also it works the other way, Forlan was hopeless at Utd but finished his first season in Spain ahead of Etoo in the scoring charts ;) (with the deadliest ratio in Spain belonging to "el killer" Michael Owen  )
I do think Sheva, Adriano, Etoo and Zlatan would succeed in England as they are the best in their leagues but i also think the best in the EPL could succeed abroad, Henry, RvN and Rooney all have enough talent to do so.
sheva is far better than henry, sheva is more dedicated, honest and hard working player just look how is single handed he is taking UKRAIN to the world cup leading his group by seven points........

i think otherwise, liverpool had a great season, very lucky at times, im not gonna get into an argument on why i think italy and spain are better because this usually ends up in a huge mess, but i would like to point out that despite liverpools CL heroics, they still got 5th in the EPL, it just proves that they cannot fight on two fronts, while u always see milan, juve, inter, real, barca, valencia fight for both their league cups and the CL, besides in my book liverpool should be in the UEFA cup... the CL winners in the UEFA cup next year, doesnt that sound weird?

It could be seen 2 ways though, either Liverpool cant compete in both competitions because they are weak or because the EPL is so physically demanding that their players cant cope. I agree with you that its the weakness of their squad that caused them problems domestically but if the EPL is so strong that Liverpool need their top 11 every game or they lose then thats a good sign for the league imo :)

true, we can only guess  imho only Sheva could challenge Henry for top scorer ;) Adriano is very much an english style centre forward so he would suit the defenders more than the rest, because of that i think he'd be most successful in Spain. As for Zlatan i cant see him getting 30+ in a season in any major league. That said i dont think Rooney will ever challenge the top scorers either, its not his game and its not Zlatans to be finishing things, they are creators rather than finishers..
Etoo im not sure of though, i cant decide how much his goals are down to his individual brilliance rather than the team of suppliers he has (Ronaldinho, Deco, Guily, Xavi.......) that is probably the best back up any striker in the world has so for him to not top score in Spain with all that help makes me doubt him slightly.
yeah well henry hasnt been short of good ball suppliers as well... etoo has done it even with mallorca and with cameroon, hes definatly better than henry for me

Oh sure, Henry hasn't been short of ball suppliers but are you forgetting that Henry himself is a constant ball supplier? Plus, Henry doesn't tend to rely on ball supply as RvN does (RvN is just an example), he creates great chances himself.
I don't think you can "prove" EPL's defense is weaker than Serie A's or La Liga's, although I DO beleive that myself. But take Crespo for example. He's lived glory in Serie A yet failed to impress in EPL. Or Diego Forlan, who couldn't gain consistensey in EPL but bloomed in La Liga. So now can you say that EPL's Defenders are better and made it harder for these two players to score? No.
I personally beleive that it's the style of play that dominates a players ability to succeed in different leagues. and because it's so hard to compare style of plays (CL never offers CLEAR comparisons because results vary each year), only long, consistent periods of dominance (AC Milan in 1990s) can show clear dominance.
But even though AC Milan dominated 3 years of Champion's league, it's still unfair to say that ALL of Serie A is better than ALL of EPL. Hence, you don't say that.
That's why I compared both players styles and abilities... and that's why I think Henry is a better player, but not a better striker
besides in my book liverpool should be in the UEFA cup
MK, all I'm gonna say is that they have a right to defend their title. Do you honestly beleive that because Liverpool didn't gain consistency early in the league you can take away their right to defend a title that they rightfully won? That Liverpool can no longer prove that they are the world's supposed best?

true, i wouldnt have wanted Liverpool to be in at the expense of Everton as they deserved their place after battling all season for it, both teams had a strong case for being in the competition and its only fair they both get the chance.

i already discussed the what u said with steza before so im not gonna answer it once more
as for liverpool... im pretty sure theyd be knocked out much much much earlier if all the teams did what they did... not to give a damn about the league and focus only on the CL, they did it the risky way and it payed off... if milan had given up on the scudetto much more earlier they would have probably won the CL with total ease... to me liverpool are the european best, u have around 20 other teams that fight for 2 even 3 trophies and sometimes manage to get them all or atleast in the top 3 while liverpool only focused on the CL... rules are rules so why change it?? ... liverpool perfectly knew that being 5th in the league they would play in the UEFA cup so maybe they should thought twice... the UEFA were too nice IMO

My top 3 :
Ronaldinho, Gerrard, Adriano
Sheva and Henry (and Kaka) and definately up there though.
My thoughts on those 2 are:
1) Sheva is the better all around player and better team player
2) Henry is a better solo player and direct scorer.
If I could only sign 1 of the 2, it would be Sheva.
Both guys are classy, both are hard workers and great players, both individually and for their team. It's a tough choice. Henry's size is a little of a concern as he gets older and may lose some speed. Plus, as you get older, those bruises/injuries add up.
