Im going to NY this tuesday-from south florida- to watch AC Milan for the first time in my life. After watching peruvian football live my whole life-which is as exciting as watching basketball from thailand- Im gonna be able to watch live Il bello, San paolo!!!! its sad that Sheva, Kaka and Crespo are not coming but i hope is gonna be awesome.
Are any of you guys going to watch that game??? let me know so maybe we can share a couple of beers and chant forza rossanero loudly and proudly

I'm watching the game live on Chelsea Tv in the UK.defense looks poor-Stam,Nesta and kaladze not looking good.Cafu superb as usual.Rui Costa and pirlo look OK,seedorf and Gattusso non existent and Viera has had little service though did miss a good opportunity. Our delivery from coreners especially have been very poor.
Crespo missed a couple of chances and it does look strange to seee him in a Chelski kit!
Chelski expected to make a few subs in the second half so maybe we will do a little better then!
how is the rapport between crespo and the milan boys? it's so sad seeing him not wearing the rednblack

Nice update killiegradge. Why is our defence so terrible. Are they giving a lot of chances away?

cafu looks to be injured ... after some nice brazilian flair poked the ball between a chelsea dude's legs.
edit: caful looks fine. if sheva was in chelsea, the score woulda been 4-0. so many chances for chelsea.
Still 1-0 to Chelsea with 8 minutes to go before the end of the game. Chelsea has always been the more dangerous team, controling the game.
Milan has had 1 shoot on goal this 2nd half, from a Rui Costa free-kick. Vieri is in the line-up, but he hasn't touch the ball in this 2nd half.
at least our goalie Demi seems a little bit more enthusiastic than Abbiati was over the past couple of years lol. Abbiati always seemed half asleep and pissed off when he was playing - Demi (for now) looks alive.

FT. 1-0 Chelsea
FT milan lose 1-0. Pretty poor game if u ask me. Vieri was invisible, our corner kicks were crap and the midfield looked SO CROWDED.
On the other hand, the fans didn;t look all that into the game. they just sat and watched. no cheering at all - hmfff american soccer fans lol.
Gatusso shoulda stayed calm - it was only a friendly.
Best players in the second half - Cafu and er.... hmmm.. that's it. Maybe Rui Costa.
after the game finished, this flag started waving with some arab guy in front of it. i am not sure but i think that's the Kuwaiti president or king or amir or something :)

Well, a bad display against a very good team...
C. Vieri was invisible, Milan played with 10 most of the game, Vogel did not show much, Ambrosini is better than him, Kaladze played really bad in defence, he was outrun in his flank 5 or 6 times.
Cafu played great has usual, Serginho played very well, and Rui Costa played his heart out in this match, by far our best player tonight.
i agree. the only people we could consistently see trying to turn the game were cafu, serginho and rui costa (in that order). let's give vogel a chance. our goalie did fairly well too.
we played a dreadful match, i think only rui, cafu and ele played well today... vieri was $hit by all means, i thought serginho wasted too many good opportunities though he tried... seedorfs passing is dreadful, nesta was outrun a million times, kaladze was scared to go forward, gattuso also wasted good runs.
played that caught my eye was shawn wright phillips... hes goooood!!!

I just got back from the game, very bad game without some of ours key players. Both sides played very bad. I have a lot of pics (like 200 pics) I will try to upload some tomorow. Rui was the best for the fans, he signed autographs other didn't do anything, they didn't even say "Hi" :(

I saw the match it was my time 3 am down here in the Middle east it was bad performance by the Milan and they were trying to find ways to get through their Chelsea’s Mid field, but they were trying this new formation and the first 20 min Chelseas had a lot of the ball and controlled the game tempo pretty well as they wanted it.
Robbens goal was pretty good from out side the plenty area and as we all know he was free to shoot on goal no pressure at all by gattsuo or Pirlo , like Alonso goal in CL final he was given space and time for him to score.
I was disappointed very much with our crossing and corners, they looked like they had no idea how to cross and vieri I cant blame him he was soo isolated by Milan’s midfield and wingers nothing decent came up to him but a one or 2 good pass.
Other then that to me the game was played pretty bad by Milan, Pirlo was not as his best, the Defense looked out of position at times knowing they r using the 3 Defensive backs and havin Cafu and Serghino on the wings.
To me it we had no bench at all other then seeing Vogel, Simic and new Striker forgot his name 18 year old. Cafu and Rui cosat were playing pretty good Serghino as u all know him comes and goes but he did well on the left.
Other then that I haven’t seen Ambro come in I was expecting him to play but maybe Ancelotti had other ideas. Chelsea looked pretty good the first 25 min they did pretty well moved the ball all over cut of any link from our player makes to Vieri.
I cant blame BoBo nothing did come to him, I am hoping to see Milan use their old formation back with Chicago and maybe use the new one in the second half with 3-4-2-1 seems like our main problem was our mid field cutting them off they made them move very easily and it was shame but its our second game and there is a lot of things to change its better we make the mistakes now then later on we can fix them now and know where we went wrong there will be a lot of changes in the up coming games so no worries even if we had take our time but in a month things will be smooth I hope.
we have to remember we have only been training in 1 week, while Chelsea are far more ahead than us in their preparations.
Also, remember we were missing Maldini, Dida, Kaka, Gilardino and Inzaghi... Once again it has been proven that we are not so good playing with only one striker. This time, we did not have other options though!

I agree with u about us training for just one week and havin this as our secondly friendly match, its good we started off with Chelsea see where we went wrong. And other most of the players looked like they couldn’t go 70 min so would have proffered everyone back but u have no choice use what u have.
The team needs time to get used to the new system its not easy from 4-3-1-2 to 3-4-1-2 coz more work for the Pilro and Gasttsuo running back and winning the ball back and Milan doesn’t look good at all with one striker upfront I cant blame Vieri he still needs time we cant expect a lot out of him he would need a partner like sheva or Pippo upfront and few more games then they would understand each other well enough.

chealsea won but we had crap team out so no need to worry - :5ok: forza milan
Well, I would not call Stam, Cafu, Nesta, Pirlo, Gattuso, Seedorf, Rui Costa, Kaladze and Vieri for crap players. Bottom line is, we have been training for one week - so do not put too much in a friendly match.

yeah but no Gila, Maldini, Dida, Janku Shevchenko, Kaka, and Vieri only played the first 35 mins so we had Ardemagni up front alone for most of the match.
How did Vogel play, I have real hopes he'll take a first team spot this year.

about first team spot about Vogel u cant say anythin for now he played his first match i guess 35 min he did good as u all know its never easy playing ur first game but i was impressed he needs time and he will be off well and at least we have good midfield player but still Daira would be great having him on board.
but Chelsea looked at ease we had hard time but Dr/ Milano said no worries just wana see then get back to their old grove

Vieri played moft of the game got out in the 80 min u cant ask alot from him i mean u cant expect him to be like in his early 20s he will need alot of support and that was not there yesterday he was like left all alone nothin or any single maybe 2 good pass other then that he was all alone

The game, for all that didnt kno (and I am sorry, I dont have net access at home, or I would have posted this info before), and all the others Milan will be playing will be shown live on goltv....goltv.tv will give you the match times.
Based on what I saw, Vieri is not at his best...he got some good service in the first half, from Serghino usually...but didnt make the most of the crosses. He was mobile and available though, but with his back to goal, and little support.
The best player on the pitch for us was Rui Costa, but he didnt have enough help...Seedorf kept getting lost, and Gattuso continued to stunt our attack with poor passes in the attacking third. Pirlo wasnt at his best, and much more is expected of him.
Serghino tried, but wasnt helped by a Stone Age Ref, who must have been privvy to some Abramovitch money, as he refused to give Milan (and Serghino) a break...we had one good penalty appeal disallowed, for a block on the il concorde, and several fouls overlooked.
Vogel wasnt bad when he came on...made some good simple passes, and looked comfortable in the middle.
Simic wasnt that bad either, allbeit vs Chelsea´s second string, which with Joe Cole and Sean Wright-Phillips, isnt really that much of a second string.:D
We didnt have a single shot on goal in the second half though, :moan: as Rui Costa tired, and Veiri planted himself in the box, with little or no movement (he is a waste of wages IMO)...I dont care that we are just starting the pre-season..he looks out of shape, off form, and simply..Veiri...(He wasnt that bad in the 1st half, but in the second, he was invisible). The youngster who replaced Veiri, cant remember his name, may have touched the ball once..so little was he involved in the game, and being up against Terry wasnt helping him either.
All in all, not a bad result, seeing that Chelsea used almost 11 subs, so essentially had two teams, one for each half, while we played with many of our players for the full 90 mins.
A disappointing loss, but all things considered, a loss without some of our key players. I just hope we are not embarrassed vs the Fire on Wednesday. (Gol Tv again, I think at 7pm eastern)
My comments on the game:
Good signs:
1) Cafu and Sergihno played very well on the flanks. Serginho looks like Ronaldinho at times, beating several players with some excellent Samba.
2) Simic held his own in defence, nothing spectacular, but no obvious mistakes.
3) Pirlo, played one half and showed that his magic touch is close to form.
Bad signs:
1) Bobo did not have much pace or a good touch on the ball, hardly touched the ball in the second half.
2) Kaladze was made to look like a fool by SWP on a number of occations
3) The entire midfield was overrun by first Chelseas starters, then by Chelseas bench. Chelsea put contstant preassure on the ball holder, while Milan backed home, sad difference in quality.
Luckily it was a pre-season game, because with the exception of Cafu and Sergihno we looked a much lesser side than Chelsea

The perfomance last night was rather worrying for me.Nesta and Kaladze looked poor as did Gattusso and seedorf.Vieri was posted missing.I know it is very early in the preparation but the warning signs are there for all to see-but can Ancellotti see them?I'm not so sure.
Of course things will be better when Sheva,Gila, maldidni and Jankulowski are available but the problems to me are in midfield which in turn puts undue pressure on the defence.
Could be a long hard season ahead.

25-07-2005, 09:40
these are great signs to see now, coz its better havin them now then later on the season, and its better for them now this happens and plus just started out the season and i aint worried at all Milan will get back
I watched it on TV.
It is always important to win, specially for a team with the winning image
Milan has, but this is the beginning of a new season, a friendly where
Chelsea made more than 11 substitutions, so it's not really serious.
-New players' numbers:
33 Eleftheropoulos
32 Vieri
24 Ardemagni
14 Vogel
17 Simic
-Uniform:
The sleeves are too long. Looks like the MidEast, Northern African style of the 90's. Anyone who got to see teams like S. Arabia back then will understand. And it's not like the Kappa brand sleeve, this is loose.
The Opel - Zafira logo is not on the chest, more like on the stomach... too low if you ask me. The number style is the same as last year. I like the neck better.
-Performance:
Serginho too static on the left wing. Always next to the line. No surprise.
Kaladze created more danger in one play when he went forward, than Serginho in the entire match.
Rui Costa very well carrying the ball from defense, but didn't create anything
upfront.
Ancelloti didn't use many players, unlike Mourinho, who used everyone.

Ya'll seriously need to read this Milan-Chelsea game article by Zach Rocha online at http://www.southcoasttoday.com/daily/07-05/07-25-05/c06sp330.htm
Its hilarious!!
Excerpt below....
On a positive note, American journalists are getting more enthusiastic when it comes to reporting soccer games. A select few just need to get their facts right!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
...The matches are akin to the NFL or Major League Baseball sending two teams to play an exhibition in Mexico, Asia, or another part of the world :embarass: .
So even though Chelsea and AC Milan played at about 70 percent of their usual speed and with far less intensity than if they were facing each other in a tournament in Europe, it was still a display of high-quality soccer.
As a result of the defenses playing much tamer than usual, each team's offense dominated the tempo of the match. Clean, crisp passes led to pretty set-ups and through balls.
Players dribbled the ball at their feet with the control that an NBA point guard would have with his hands :embarass: .
And Chelsea and AC Milan certainly displayed their respective chemistries as well. This was not an All-Star Game, but a match between two club teams that regularly play together :w163: , allowing for moves that wouldn't be possible had teammates not had a prior feel for one another.
The game's only goal came early -- in the 13th minute -- when Chelsea striker Arjen Robben found the inside of the post with a kick from 20 yards out that didn't rise more than a few inches off the field.
While scoring was at a minimum, the quality of play was at a maximum.
Each team featured its fair share of world-reknowned national team players. Robben plays for Holland, along with fellow Chelsea teammates Clarence Seedorf and Jakob Stam :mute: . Italy's Christian Vieri, and Portugal's Rui Costa also started for the English Premier League squad :tong: .
For AC Milan, its top player was England midfielder Frank Lampard  . Argentina's Hernan Crespo, who was on loan to AC Milan prior to the World Series, returned to Chelsea's side for last night's match.

interesting......... yet with some stupid facts
Thread will be merged with the other game thread for everybodies convenience :)
Well I've just returned from Boston and I was very dissapointed with Milan.
They barely tried and didn't bring half of the squad. Mourinho fielded two teams while Ancelotti only had 3 subs on the bench... I understand it's a friendly match but Milan should show some more respect to their fans in north america, they don't get to see many live Milan matches and when they do, they expect to see something better than this.
I've seen a few live Milan matches before so I've got to see some good Milan games, especially last year's friendly game vs Chelsea but my frined who came with me to see his first live Milan match was quite dissapointed and it's a shame spending hours of driving and lots of money to see such a lackluster performence.
We're going to see the match in NY as well though so hopefully it'll be much better.
As for the match itself, the crowd was pretty poor, they didn't mention the attendance but it looked like 10000 people max so obviously there wasn't much of an atmosphere.
The tactics weren't too great, the midfield was too crowded and Vieri was too isolated upfront. The only players that tried were Cafu, Rui Costa and Serginho.
As for Chelsea, they have a great squad with a lot of depth. Pretty much everybody on the team played well with Robben and SWP being very impressive, SWP ran circles around our defense and got a lot of applauds.
So respect to Chelsea, they didn't fail their fans and surely made a few new ones as well.
Hopefully Milan will try harder in the next match and show Chelsea who's boss!

I know how disappointed u are( BG1 ) about the match and how the players didn’t give all they had, mostly the team needs 2 weeks to prepare and get their fitness level high and get them all together things are too fast u just come back and cant really expect so much I knew Milan wont reach their peak till 3 or 4 weeks of training.
But as u all know these tours they have now just for the money and sponsors they who really wana bring them down there, like Chelsea its ok coz they started out a week earlier and played a few games and they are kind ready.
About Ancelotti having only 3 changes one thing is for sure did u see their bench only 4 were seniors there and the most of them were under 19 and if u compared with Chelsea bench he had full 24 players available in hand so its hard to compare between the both sides, I know its shame u traveled all the way and really didn’t enjoy it for us watching it at 3 am to wake up and see such boring game was not fun.
But we should remember this aint Serie A and its just starting out so they need time it was better they left start of August have players fit and everyone available. This tour stuff started out 4-5 years back and that’s all wrong but its chance for the fans to see them close.
Lets see how well they play in the next couple of games, to me to beat Chelsea isn’t a big issue here is how they play and how well the use the new system and how well do they feel comfortable with it and kind of players that should be used.
These match are good for the players and coach not very much for the fans point of view nothing really big is gone happen for them its tactics and getting used to each other.
i`m not to worried about this performance.
these games are played to get there fitness levels up.
i`d be more worried if we were playing like this against sampdoria in the III TROFEO
SEAT PAGINE GIALLE in a months time.
for now they can have there defeats as they gain there fitness and try out new formations etc....
as for gattuso eveyone is saying what a disgrace he is, how could he do that etc....
get real folks!! the challenge merited at most a yellow card. it wasn`t malicious, it wasn`t above the knee. it was in a friendly at the end of the match...the ref was a joke.
JAKOB STAM HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA . That's akin to Paolo Inzaghi ;)
"For AC Milan, its top player was England midfielder Frank Lampard." lol. what a signing by Galliani. They just stole him from under Chelsea's noses ON THE PITCH , then got on the plane with him and went back to Milan :)
"nd Chelsea and AC Milan certainly displayed their respective chemistries as well. This was not an All-Star Game, but a match between two club teams that regularly play together, allowing for moves that wouldn't be possible had teammates not had a prior feel for one another." - now Milan and Chelsea play REGULARLY eh?

I can't say I am worried either. I don't care at all if we lose all our pre-season friendlies. It doesn't matter. What does matter is that we start winning when the season kicks off. By the way, Italian sides are known for not winning unless they have to, heheh...
I watched it live, in the stadium.
Milan played very well in the first half, with only the finishing missing. We are able to see Rui really close to us because we have quite a lot of corner kicks.
Second half it's obvious that players are very tired, especially Kaladze (closest to me), but overall he played OK. TOward the end both players on the flank (Cafu and Kaladze) are very poor physically, in terms of defense. Cross are allowed everywhere, they didn't even seem to try :) but that's understandable.
Vieri lacks finishing. Running and positioning is, surprisingly, amazing. Body is huge, which is a great adv, and he comes to control the ball OK. Oh btw, for those who watch in tv, you wont' be able to see Vieri making run and position himself at the front. So don't argue with me at this point. He does run, and he doesn't run slow either, it's only that he has trouble controlling the ball. That's what he needs to work on, as well as his finishing, but it's early in the season. Let's wait.
Who else? Our greek GK did well overall, and I don't see him making any mistake when coming out of his area. Good game overall.
Nesta is CLASSY. As simple as that. His body helps him a lot and, despite his speed, Philip simply cannot try use speed to run past Nesta because the latter is likely to bump him a bit and delay the attack.
Who else? Rui is MoM for Milan, and so does Cafu, and he is pretty much what you see on the field. Good run, good control of ball.
Pirlo is ok.
Seedorf is ok, but he is not in the position he is supposed to be in.
SErginho is, amazing, but it seems that he is not very popular in the referee's eyes.
Gattuso plays ok, and the red card is absolutely stupid. Wait, I mean THE REFEREE is stupid. In no way that's a red card, and even if it is, he obviously doesn't know the rule for 'advantage'. Philip just had the ball 1vs1 with Kaladze, who is already very tired, but the referee decided to impose himself at the wrong time with the wrong action.
I can't imagine none of you talking about him in the game. He is absolutely horrendous, one of the worst.
