Request: Multimedia section [Archive]

I think MM should have a multimedia section to its own, where all Milan-related videos or audio are posted. Although currently, say, a Sheva video can be posted in the "players" section and goals can be posted in their respective matches thread; I think it will be more organized (and easier to find) if MM has its own multimedia section. Plus, members can request for videos there, maybe of a Milan video in the 80s or things like that.

but.. its never gonna happen.. if i remember correctly, i did a similiar request a long time ago.. maybe this time itll materialize :cool:

The reason it didn't happen was we were thinking it would only contain very few threads ...organization is a good point eventhough I think video and audio should always be in a specific thread anyhow and not in the players thread for example.

I have no objection...will get back to you after I put it to the other mods and admin.

It doesn't have to be that way. With a separate forum for multimedia, a new thread could be opened for every new game we play. It would be a hell of a lot easier finding a certain game thread in this forum than browsing the 100+ pages of the goal videos thread IMO.

Good point. We wont run out of threads. It might not be the most popular one (but then again the "Italian football" section has been quite dead for the past few weeks/months too) but its very useful.

Especially now that the football season will start, the multimedia should be constantly updated with Milan's matches goals every week...

and it doesnt have to only be of Milan. it can be of football in general.

say somebody has a cool video of Ronaldinho for instance, they can share it in the new section!

My mind immediately goes to the technical aspects of doing something like that. Video takes up alot of space, it'll slow us down, etc. I'd rather encourage people to post links to places where video can be found than for us to try to handle it. Anyone with more technical knowledge than I have who can speak for or against doing this?

yes. videos could be uploaded in in places like yousendit/uploadit etc (I'll do some research later, but uploading sites.. there are loads!)

pictures could also be stored at ImageShack.

and btw, regarding space, if we say link a picture from another site, does it take up space here? I dont think so. Hence, we should have the [ img ][ /img ] command :(

That is my understanding as well. Just like the goals thread we have now, but a separate forum with a new thread per game, player, etc.

there are loads of sites that allows us to upload videos from our HD and Host it there too, we will new need good moderators(like me) to look after that section, i too have posted many videos in the Bored Thread. and i think the section should'nt be confined to soccer only. funny videos, movies and MP3's should be included. make a minimum post rule for access that way you won't have idiots posting there. plus i guess there should also a place withing the multimedia sections where we can post pics and gifs.

the forum should be Milan/football oriented.

Other/funny/horrific videos should go under an "Others" thread for instance.
