View Full Version : Your Expectation on Milan group in this Champion league
Do you think that the champion league draw would make milan in difficult
group? I don't why but something in my heart say that. so I think Milan will
be in group with B-Munch -chelsea and one weak team
Very High expectations. :p283:
i would hope to have liverpool in the same group.

Being in second place means we will get a group with at least one first place team, and those would be (among others..but I could be wrong) :
Bayern Munich, Lyon, Barcelona or Chelsea...plus some other second or third place teams:
Liverpool or Arsenal or Man U, Real Madrid, Stuttgart(were they runners up in Germany?)...Villareal (when and if they beat Everton at home)...
All in all, the group set up I would most like to see would be:
AC Milan
Liverpool
Lyon
Team X..where X= "couldnt care less" :D
O yeah kick their asses all over the place !!!!!!
exactly, San Siro and Anfield. that will be the only way to get over, even if not 100%, the aftermath of Istanbul. :nunu: You rise wherever you fell. La Coruna Deportivo is too weak an opponent nowadays to seek revenge from. :r14:
Stuttgart(were they runners up in Germany?).
:D
I think schalke were.

Oh man.. can you imagine HAMMERING Liverpool at Anfield? Like 4-0 or something. And then go on to win the whole tournament.
God I'm set for a new season :devs:

if only we can have this in our group:
1)liverpool
2)chelsea
3)arse
since we already kick manu butt last season, let's give them some face. :w262:
Last I heard, we're in pot 1. Doesn't that mean we're placed in a group with teams from pot 2, 3 and 4?
The pots (assuming the seeded teams go through)..
Pot 1
Liverpool (TH)
Real Madrid
AC Milan
FC Barcelona
Manchester United
Internazionale
Bayern München
Arsenal
Pot 2
FC Porto
Juventus
PSV Eindhoven
Olympique Lyon
Panathinaikos
Chelsea
Villarreal
Sporting CP Lisbon
Pot 3
AS Monaco
Ajax
Club Brugge
Anderlecht
Olympiakos Piraeus
Schalke '04
Sparta Praha
Lille OSC
Pot 4
Glasgow Rangers
Werder Bremen
Lokomotiv Moscow
Benfica
Rosenborg BK
Fenerbahçe
FC Thun
FC Petrzalka
not sure about this, but there is wierdness about Liverpools draw. I don't know if they are in pot one, also they have no country protection, I think they may be in pot 4.
yeah. how can Pool be in pot 1?
the pots are decided based on the past five year's performance.
If Pool are in pot 5, and the list m1ke posted is real,
I'd like to see
AC Milan
PSV
Anderlecht (Kompany)
LIVERPOOL
if possible i would like to meet liverpool in the final. if not then the knockout stage.
Milan can't be in the same group of Liverpool (Title holders... so auto/ in the 1st pot).
It could be this one:
-Milan
-Villareal
-Schalke 04
-Fenerbahce
:devs:
I'd like to be drawn with Chelsea, and beat them (twice) ;)

I guess you are right. We can't have Liverpool in our group. They can save their ass for us later. :nunu:
Now I really dont' care who the hell we will face, so long we will qualify after 4 rounds. :5drunk:
P.S. I surely won't mind your draw. :D
AC Milan
Villarreal/Sporting CP Lisbon
AS Monaco/Ajax/Olympiakos Piraeus
Glasgow Rangers/Benfica
i think we will play vs the following teams offcourse u cant have sporting and benfica the same time but i have a feeling well get a portuguese team

From acmilan.com:
LIVERPOOL 115.864 (holders)
REAL MADRID 131.326
MILAN 121.191
BARCELONA 117.326
BAYERN MUNCHEN 97.116
ARSENAL 93.864
PORTO 93.739
JUVENTUS 93.191
PSV EINDHOVEN 84.145
OLYMPIQUE LYONNAISE 81.324
PANATHINAIKOS 70.715
CHELSEA 68.864
OLYMPIAKOS 46.175
SCHALKE 04 44.166
SPARTA PRAHA 43.223
LILLE 41.324
BENFICA 36.739
ROSENBORG 36.665
BETIS SIVIGLIA 34.326
UDINESE 30.191
FENERBAHCE 23.782
RAPID WIEN 15.208

So, does that rule out Liverpool from being in our group? Anybody?

Well, this should explain it...from uefa.com:
UEFA unveils draw procedure
Wednesday, 24 August 2005
UEFA has confirmed the draw procedure for the group stage of the 2005/06 UEFA Champions League, which will take place at 16.00CET on Thursday at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
Coefficient ranking
The 32 teams will be placed in four pots in accordance with their UEFA coefficient ranking. Pot 1 will comprise the eight top-ranked clubs, Pot 2 the next eight and so on for Pots 3 and 4. The sides are therefore divided into eight groups of four, with clubs from the same country kept apart - except for holders Liverpool FC, who are without country protection after UEFA granted them special dispensation to defend the trophy, meaning they could be drawn in the same section as English champions Chelsea FC.
Teams paired
Each team will play three matches on Tuesday and three on Wednesday. If two sides from the same association qualify, they will be paired to split their matches between Tuesday and Wednesday, so one club will always play at home on one day and the other will play away on the other day. In the case of associations with three representatives, only two teams will be paired in terms of their fixtures; in the case of associations with four representatives, two pairings will be made.
Colour codings
To ensure that sides from the same country play on separate days, the eight groups will be distinguished by colour: Groups A-D will be red and Groups E-H blue. When a paired club is drawn, for example, into one of the red groups, the other paired club once it has been drawn will automatically be assigned to one of the four blue groups.
Positions confirmed
Teams from Pot 1 will be provisionally placed in the first position within their groups, teams from Pot 2 will provisionally take the second spot in their sections, and so on. Once the draw procedure has been completed, a computer draw will determine the final position of the sides within their group. These positions within the group will then determine the order of the home and away matches
There we go..as clear as...mud :D

Few hours away from the draw.
I would love to see AC Milan with Chelsea, they are too arrogant at the moment.
Anyway, are we all confident to go to Paris?
So any teams would be fine.
Anyone going to be on line at 16.00 CET?

Wow, Slack, you almost guessed the whole group - only we got PSV instead of Villareal :)
I think this is a fairly decent group - in CL football there are no easy opponents but this for sure isn't that difficult of a group. My point is, if we can't get through this group, then we'd better watch CL foorball on TV, at least that way we will save ourselves any further embarrassment.
Our opponents are pretty ballanced, I would say, but none of these teams is even close to our level. I beleive that Milan will take 1st place but the battle for 2nd will be a ferocious one. PSV aren't the team from last year for they have lost some crucial players plus, I believe that it was physical and psychological tiredness that made us look like amateurs in that game in Eindhoven. I would expect Milan to cope with PSV much more easily this time around.
As for Schalke, they are the team I expect to give us a battle and I would expect them to take second spot. They are a very good team and play some very nice football, physically tough too, but deffinitely lack experience at this level and tend to get some rediculously easy goals.
Fenerbahce would fill in the numbers, IMO - they are not the team they used to be 3-4 years ago. I am sure they will make us work but so would any other team in this CL. I wouldn't expect anything special from them.

And again Milan makes me very happy. At 10th september I will be back in San Siro, but also they give me 2 away games in CL were I can see them, Eindhoven (again) at only 1 hour drive and Schalke (3 hours)!!
Forza Milan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What foresight. Well done! Only one team is incorrect but on strength PSV and Villareal are more or less on the same level. Nice. :mex:

its very nice to see you in istanbul again bros...
It's not to bad, I would have perhaps sacrificed PSV (who although gave us problems last year are still one of the weaker teams in pot 2) for an easier Pot 4 team, I think we got the hardest pot 4 team, they will be far from the whipping boys.

u r really a big team bro. u came to our field 6 or 7 times and scored 6 goals. great work congrulations :D
anyway..i hope Fenerbahce can phrase up from this group after A.C.Milan...

ManU should thank Rüştü for that. 6 attacks, 6 goals! And do you remember the game in İstanbul?
And, by the way, it looks like Rüştü will not be playing in Milan, he did not play in any of the games this season, yet. Volkan will be playing his first CL game.
ps: inşallah is an Arabic word, we speak Turkish, which is a different language.
If ManU beat them 6-2 we will beat 5-0!
If ManU beat them 6-2 we will beat 5-0!
Ok, what do you say if I tell you that in the other game it was Fenerbahçe:3 ManU:0. And don't forget, even Alex Ferguson said after the game in Old Trafford " If you watch the tape from this game after deleting the goals, you are going to say, this game ended with a draw, 1-1. I am waiting for your reply.
Without any doubt, on paper we should have 16 points after all the 6 matches

A draw with somebody. Better hope it is with us. You sure dont want us to beat you guys do you???

Of course we do... I just needed to learn the team he meant though. But what I can say is, the higher you go up, the fastest you can fall. Trusting in the team and saying that you on paper should get 16 points is something different.

Utd sent a reserve side to Turkey as they had already qualified, with Ronaldo and Fletcher being the only first team players to take part. As Fergie said, even with that weakened side the game was still even until the youth team players came on in the 2nd half....
The Milan side you will face will have considerably better players in it that Bellion, Miller and Pique ;)
Well... my forecast was almost right ;)
PSV = No so strong as last year(s). No Van Bommel in the midfield.
Fenerbahce = Maybe we get some probs in Turkey.
Schalke 04 = Probably the 2nd of the group in the end. Great attacking players.
But, if Milan play like "true-Milan", I think in 4 games we'll qualify for the next round. :gonova:

milan will easily win 4 games which will be enough for knockout fixtures...last year we had barca and celtic in our group, which IMO was a harder group than this year...forza milan!!
i dont see why this should be a hard group.
our players are on paper far, far better than any of the other teams.
schalke are nothing special, fenerbache nothing special and guess what...psv are nothing special.
i expect milan to qualify from this group without too much trouble. if we struggle with a fully fit squad then you ALL know whose door ill be knocking on.....
