View Full Version : FIFPro Young Player Nominees.
FIFPro released a list of twelve international youngsters for Young Player of the Year.
Three players with Manchester United ties were on the list: Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal, Wayne Rooney of England, and Dong Fanzhou of China. Two more Premiership players made the list as well: Chelsea's Arjen Robben (Holland) and Arsenals' Cesc Fabregas (Spain).
American Freddy Adu (D.C. United), Argentine Javier Mascherano (Corinthians) and Brazilian Robinho (Real Madrid) were the only players on the list from the Western Hemisphere.
The winner of the award will be announced at the FIFPro World Player XI ceremony on September 19th in London.
COMPLETE LIST:
Javier Mascherano (Corinthians and Argentina), Wayne Rooney (Man Utd and England), Arjen Robben (Chelsea and Holland), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich and Germany), Robinho (Real Madrid and Brazil), Dong Fangzhou (Royal Antwerp/Man Utd and China), Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd and Portugal), Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal and Spain), Rio Mavuba (Bordeaux and France), Giorgio Chiellini (Fiorentina and Italy), Obafemi Martins (Inter Milan and Nigeria), Freddy Adu (DC United and United States).
what the hell is Adu doing on that list. Commercialism at it's stinking best.
freddy adu..hes that 35 year old african..sorry american who plays "sawwwww-ker" for "Team USA..USA..USA"
my vote goes to roooooooooooooney apart from the game with ac milan hes just about had an impact on every other game for both club and country. who can for get his debut in the CL against fener by scoring a hat-trick and then at euro 2004 where he barged thuram and co over on his way to scoring 4 goals in the tounament.
then there was his many goals of the season last year with my favourite being that volley against newcastle (did any of you see it from in front of the goal? the way the ball swerved and dipped underneath the cross bar?!) only seconds before having a conversation with the ref...a future world-class player in the making.

GO ROBBEN MY LOVE!
Quite surprised to see Chiellini there though. Would love for him to win the thing; though realistically he probably doesnt deserve it

If there's any justice in this world then Rooney will win, none of the others have the same influence on a major side as he does
Adu and Dong Fangzhou really shouldnt be there but as the US and China are seen as emerging markets they need to be represented
I am going for Robinho,IMO he deserves it

Well we all agree the winner's name should begin with R ;)
Robinho will most likely win next year as he will have had a year of playing at Real, which even if he doesnt do too well would still raise his profile.
Robben would be my second choice as he has been great for Chelsea but only played half the season.
Rooney though, played 42 games for Utd, scored 17 goals despite not even playing as a striker most matches  creates for other players, scores wondergoals and has been man of the match almost every game he's played (including both Utds games this season :) ) and if all that doesnt persuade you then vote for him out of pity because he looks like an angry potato :D
robben easily... he is always magnificent whenever he plays

Rooney certainly is very good, if he or Robben wins, it wouldn't be surprising at all. But this young dude from Germany, Bastian Schweinsteiger, surely will turn into some big star in the future, and I would love to have him in our side, if possible. Milan could definitely use some talented and tough-minded German soldier, :5ok:
Just to point out, they even mispelled Dong Fangzhuo's name as Dong Fangzhou. Considering this fact, I really doubt that he has any chance at all. In fact, he is not even the biggest star in China. At least four or five players of his age are better than he is.
