i get the feeling that this will be ancelotti`s last season in charge and that marco van basten will replace hm after WC 2006.

peronally i`m unsure of Van Basten as a coach but then again no one had really heard of sacchi or capello before there prominence as always i`m sure Silvio has many, many aces up the thousands of shirt sleeves he owns...lol

I was just going too make a post like this.

I think that berlusconi should shut the f**k up, this is not good for the team just like boban said. Let ancelotti coach the team how he wants to.

Carlo would only be sacked if he didnt win one of the CL or the Scudetto.

He wont be sacked.

I think Carlo has gotten used to these comments now and like me, pretty much ignores them :D

I believe (not sure though) Carlo has 2 years on his contract left and unless something goes terribly wrong, he will see out those years. However, once his contract is up, I don't think he'll attempt to stay on and we will see a new manager.

Van Basten is impressing me as a coach, particularly what he's accomplished with Holland. The fact he's broken down the whole side and rebuilt it to a point of great strength really shows how good he is. On top of this, he's shown intelligence in his tactical approach (with aspects clearly taken from Sacchi's school of thought) and has been really focused on his aims, taking a no nonsense attitude into the squad to get the best out of them, irrespective of how big a name they are.

Regardless of what happens to Ancelotti and the one who becomes manager after him,i just don`t like these stories and these `words taken out of the context`.They contribute to a club being thought of as an unprofessional unity with problems among everyone in it.Furthermore,if such stories turn out to be true, that could be our weakest point, weaker than any possible formation that any manager could think of.We should stay as classy old Milan as we`re famous for.And if necessary to keep our `dirty laundry` in our own home.Stories like this one and recent Shevchenko saga won`t do us good in any respect.

I definitely agree with what has been said in this thread. If we're going to win anything this season, Berlusconi should keep his mouth shut and let Ancelotti do his job. I disliked it when he interfered and demanded that Milan should always play with two strikers (would we have lost the CL final if Ancelotti had changed to 4-4-1-1 in the second half?), and I really dislike what is going on now. Let the man do his job without interference this season, and if we don't win anything this year either, then fire him. But for God's sake, leave him alone until then!

this is actually old news that Channel 4 reported late. The situation has already been diffused and Berlusconi is just trying to prod Ancelotti into getting results. Right now, in Italy, I would say there is no better manager and it would be suicide to fire Ancelotti. That being said, if he fails to instill confidence in the team to win at least the scudetto, ancelotti may be shown the door.

I doubt van basten will be Milan's next coach. If anyone, it would be Frank Rijkaard or even Lippi if he leaves the national team.

from acmilan.com

SILVIO BERLUSCONI: 'Ancelotti has my confidence'
8/21/2005
MILANO - President Berlusconi continued: 'If Carletto did not have my confidence then he wouldn't be Milan coach. After last season when we didn't win the league or Champions League there could have been motivation to change the coach. I haven't thought of a better one than him.'

He continued: 'Thirdly, I know better than anyone as president of the club what we have done on the international stage and that we must take this team to victotries. I know what it takes and how to behave for the team to win, not to create problems, to instil the desire to win, to give morale and grit to everyone from the team to the coach, this is Silvio Berlusconi. At the end of all, this controversy is quite stupid. Have you seen what all the players who have been at Milan had to say? They all answered in a similar way. I have to confess that of the 66 per cent (the fans who agreed with Boban in the Gazzetto dello Sport), I am not only disappointed but also hurt.'

PRESS SURVEY - SILVIO BERLUSCONI: 'I have not criticised Ancelotti'
8/21/2005
MILAN - As was written on the official site in an editorial on August 16 (The Helping Hand) and on Friday, August 20 (No shadow of criticism) the Gazzetta dello Sport reported what president Berlusconi had to say: 'My words on that evening were taken in the wrong way as I have absolutely not turned against Ancelotti but was recalling a certain conservative mentality and bureaucratic characteristic of football. I want to say that it was discussed in a generalized manner and that when I spoke about a tailor and cloth I was referring to the football environment which is closed enough to change. We talked about replay cameras on the pitch and other things ... anyway, Ancelotti never entered it. Therefore it is out of place to be critical of my words the other evening: this is the first point.'

First of all an owner should have some say about where the coach is planning to take the team. SO i have no idea why some of you say that the owner should shut the fVck up??? First of all no one has any iota what the hell transpired at this dinner. Maybe other's here should shut the hell up!

Are some of you making this sh!t up as you go along??? :dontkn: "Berlusconi and Coach have dinner" translates to owner tries to screw his own team by talking down to coach. Is this what you folks want me to believe??? :dontkn: Fvcking kidding me! I dont know if I should laugh or cry at this!
Is it just possible... just possible that they had dinner and that's it???

No really. Your post was not silly. It dismisses all the rumors about this dinner. For me I just put fuel to fire with these detractors. Doesnt help much, but it makes me feel better.

Depends really. On one hand the media, as usual is just probably taking Berlus comments out of context. On another, how many times have we seen Berlusconi interfere with Carlos work? Unless he starts really trusting and respecting him Carlo could very well leave in the manner like Capello did.

Some may not remember the shape that we were in when Berlusconi took charge and since then through a number of coaches we have been more or less succesful, mostly succesful. Berlusconi is a cool guy (politics and business mannor excluded), reminds me of JR Ewing sometimes, hahaha (my childhood rolemodel)! Let the man talk, its always nice because he always manages to piss someone off. On a more serious note, I think it is only good that he walks around in Carlos shadows with a piece of rope, sometimes Carlo has a little to much respect. This is Milan, our identity is not solely on winning like Juve, there is also the element of class and forcing our opponents to fear and adjust to us. Milan is a bit of a Devils club, the dark side if you may - which is fine I wouldn´t want it any other way!

ah ok, thanks Kui.

I think its important that people note one thing about the whole subject. The criticism we hear is from the media, who won't hesitate to exagerrate or twist words and really, theres little point in listening to it (its like reading a celebrity gossip column in some rubbish magazine), which is why I and hopefully Carlo, tend to ignore it.

Now, if Berlu really has such a big problem with Carlo or anything of such great importance needs to be said, chances are they will be said in private and directly to Carlo, rather than having the media communicate for him.

My point being? Berlu says some stupid things in the media, but its not necessarily the truth, which is naturally going to be in the background where we don't see it.

Actually given some of my manners... I kind of do sound like Berlusconi too. I'll say the most unpolitically correct thing to people whose nose is in my business when they shouldnt be. I know many good politicians who are nasty on camera and yet are the best in governance. I dont think of it as arrogance. I see it as confidence. Berlu has no need whatsoever to defend himself or double guess what he does. All one needs to do is look at the overall results of what he's done for the club and judge purely on that. So far for a very long time, what he's done is simply brilliant. A former cruise ship singer with a sharp acumen who is one of the longest reigning owners of a very succesful club. This is way better than people who talk like they are exceptional and dont have sh!t to back it up.
