Here's an article from channel 4's site about Frank Rijkaard possibly having a clause in his contract allowing him to leave at the end of any season, to come to Milan for instance. :u56: I'm not sure that's he one of the very best managers yet, but I don't think Ancelotti is either. In a couple of years Rijkaard will be a lot better and can come to Milan then:

Frank Rijkaard is set to extend his contract with Barcelona, but he remains in pole position to replace Carlo Ancelotti as Milan boss in the future.

The former Rossoneri midfielder is on the verge of renewing his deal with the Spanish giants until 2009.

But reports in Italy on Tuesday allege that a special clause has been included, which will allow the Dutchman to rescind his contract at the end of any season.

That will allow the San Siro giants to make an approach whenever Ancelotti is shown the door or quits the club.

Ancelotti’s current deal expires in 2007 but whispers in the peninsula claim that he could leave at the end of this season, should he again fail to lift any silverware.

Rijkaard, who bossed his country at Euro 2000, is favourite to step into the Milan hotseat given his past as a player.

The silky midfielder was one of three Dutchman, along with Ruud Gullit and Marco Van Basten, who led the Rossoneri to world domination in the late 80s and early 90s.

He won the Spanish title at Barcelona last term which saw the outfit commence talks over a new improved contract.

Previously contracted until 2007 on £850,000 a season, Rijkaard’s new agreement will expire in 2009 and will be worth around £2.2m a term.

However, as a result of the clause which will allow Rijkaard to walk away from the club, Barca can sack him and only pay him for the rest of the season in which he was dismissed rather than until 2009.

YESSS!! Next season, I hope, Carlo will be out of here. Rijkaard developed himself in great manager, and he can do a lot for us....

wasn't able to win the mind games against mourhino last season. so there is still a question mark over his ability for me.

As a player, Frankie has all my respects for this years at Milan... as a coach, he's still in formation... many very famous football personalities have said that Barcelona won La Liga more despite his coaching than because of it... he couldn't do much with Holland's national team, and lost the category with his team before going to Barcelona... let's give him a few years... one day he will come to San Siro again...

Van Basten would be #1 choice now...

But please, don't forget what Ancelloti has done... after Zaccheroni, Terim, etc.

You can not forget years of success because of those terrible 6 minutes (you know when)

There is only one manager I want in Milan after Ancelotti: José Mourinho. He would be perfect for us, and it is common knowledge that he is not going to stay in Chelsea for the rest of his career.

But for now, I think Ancelotti is doing a very good job for us. However, if we don't win anything this season, I think it's time for a change. SANT makes a good point though, we can't forget what the man has done for us, considering who preceeded him in the manager's seat.

i would love to have Rijkaard at milan. but i think it is just bull**** that he has a clause in his contract that lets him leave if milan want to make him an offer.

right now besides Rijkaard i dont know of any coach that i would prefer than ancelotti. i kinda hate mourihno so i wouldn't like him near milan.

:d55: My thoughts exactly.

If Carletto was to be shown the door, I would prefer to see Van Basten, as untried as he is (well not exactly untried, but in club football, which is different from international football).

While I would also prefer "the special one"...he isnt going to leave Chelski anytime soon...

There is no point in getting rid of carlo if we cant get a better manager. In my opinion Rijkaard has huge potential, but makes more errors than Ancelotti. hes one for the future, but not yet. Vanbasten has alot to prove. Who really is a better coach than Carlo, probably Mourinhio, Capello and maybe Mancini or Benitez. Anyone else would be a step back. At the end of the day we can count all of Carlo's faults, but is there even a viable replacement.

Mourinho would not be a good coach for Milan IMO. I don't even think he's that great. Mourinho as a coach is the best motivator but I have my doubts of him as a tactician. When faced with teams with which play ultradefensive (every minnow in Italy) he is unable to cope (Liverpool). I'd bet everything I own that if Chelsea face Milan/Juve/Inter they would lose.

I think the next coach for Milan should be Van Basten although if Ancelotti delivers this season he'll be around for awhile.

why van basten? Rijkaard is a far better coach than MVB. as for the special one, he is a cappello style coach that builds Real madrids, not teams. last person we need as a coach. i mean really, anyone's grandma here can be chelsea's coach and still end up 3rd in the EPL lol.

i like rijkaard too however i haev not been impressed with his opinion that gio van bronkhorst and silvinho are good enough left backs to play for barca...

hes a good coach but i do question some of his players in that barca team. the lack of adequate central defenders who are good at defending.

he seems to be a good attacking coach in the style of wenger..i`d like him to come if only so that we can regain some confidence and stability in the squad.

If only to further the debate...what criteria are you using to say that Rijkaard is a better coah than MVB?

While my statement, I admit, was more subjective than anything else, I recall MVB working successfully with the Dutch National team...which prior to his arrival, had been underperforming.

Rijkaard also turned things around with Barca, but who couldnt with Ronaldhino, Deco and Etoo?

That begs the rejoiner that MVB also has a great talent pool with which to work, and no transfer window, or fees to worry about....seems like a stalemate here...what do u think Nadir? :dontkn:

MVB has done nothing with the national side. Lets remember Rijkaard didnt do too badly for holland and when he took over Barca, Barca were really struggling.

I can't believe people are already speculating about who our next coach will be? What exactly has Ancelotti done? Did I miss something?

No, u didnt, except that the usual "vote of confidence" has gone out particularly early this season, which, in my experience, can represent the death knell for a coach.

However, Milan wont sack Carlo, but as fans, we are concious that he will be under severe if not fatal pressure from the management (read Berlu and Galliani) if he doesnt win any silverware this term.

Thus, we are looking at who would be a suitable replacement, but we are just speculating...nothing more...nothing less...

I think Van Basten too for some reason. Holland are playing very well now after some poor preformances and there does seem to be a serenity about him, I think he probably needs to cut his teeth in club football first though.

After remembering Tassotti, he would have to be the better choice for me. Afterall who else apart from him and Carlo knows the system and the players so well. Wasnt Capello Saachi's assistant before he got the best job in football :u56:

jose mourinho? i hope he never ever step foot into milan. with the kind of f**king football his team play week in week out, i would really vomit.

i want a coach who let the team express themselves and get the results. i rather see milan play like they did in the CL final every week than have milan win every trophy playing the kind of sick football mourinho have his team play. we have move forward with our attractive style of football and win more fans. please don't let us move backward.

I think that time is come for Milan to change something. I think that is time to change the manager, he has done very great things (respect) but i think it is time to let Carlo go. We have one of the strongest teams temporary in the whole Europe but it is obious that something is going on inside the locker room. My opinion is that we have to appoint Marco van Basten as Milan new manager. He is doing great job as an Nederland menager and I think that he is good enough to take charge of AC Milan, maybe I am wrong but that is just my opinion.. Frank Rijkaard did well so far in Barcelona, maybe we need him to help Milan come back to their winning way i don't know... but i repeat the time is come to change something and that must be solved very quick if wan't to win serie a this season... FORZA MILAN!!!
