I can hardly believe that we have a game on Sat, the first home game, and there is no thread..what..do you all think nothing of this game? Have we already won it and no one told me?

So far, we have only lost Maldini and Marek to injury, and Vieri to suspension (as far as I recall..which is not very far at all), so we can field a pretty much full strength team.

While I wont put up my formation nor selection, I will just ask that RUI COSTA BE GIVEN A RUN OUT!!! If only for the last 20 minutes of the second half. Rui needs match time, and every minute he is on the pitch counts toward better fitness, and a sharper, more mentally prepared player.

Lets hope that Carlo has seen his selection mistakes of last season, and the resulting hangover that some players (namely Seedorf) have carried over as a result.

While I think Serghino should also get more playing time, I still want to see the former Portugese international get a run.

Siena wont be a pushover, but we have the quality to beat them.

A comfortable victory is on the cards, unless we allow complacency to rule over desire and concentration.

FORZA MILAN!

For those lucky enough to get :v408: GOL TV, they will be showing the Milan game live, at 2:30 Eastern.

SHEVCHENKO: 'We hope it doesn't rain on Saturday'
9/8/2005
MILANELLO – Andriy Shevchenko discussed the past week with journalists
at the training camp. These were important days in the life of the
Rossonero Champion, ones that will be hard to forget. The baptism of
his son Jordan on Monday occurred just two days after the historic
Ukraine World Cup 2006 qualification. 'For more than a year I have
hoped to be able to begin studying German,' confessed Sheva upon his
return from the festivities in Kiev. 'In the beginning there was
incredible suffering after the tie with Georgia, then Denmark won and
that was a big gift. This qualification is a great joy for everyone in
the Ukraine and also for me, after 10 years in this career and three
lost playoffs. This comeback is also personal. As for Monday, it was a
very special day for me, my son was christened. Then the party
yesterday in Kiev, there were 65,000 at the Stadium, a great
atmosphere, the squad played well and did not deserve to loose against
Turkey. My people waited a long time for this qualification, it was a
great party.' However, before Germany 2006 there is a season to play
with Milan and a much awaited match against Siena on Saturday evening.
'After the first false step with Ascoli, everyone expects the team to
make the result and put on a winning game. The fans are confident
about the debut at the San Siro, we will do everything to not
disappoint them. Hidden dangers in the game? We hope that it doesn't
rain on Saturday… then we will be able to play with a special grit in
order to demonstrate that we are a team that can win it all. Milan
must play it their way, and not worry about trying to force the
result.'

a very very very interesting game.
Cosmi's Udinese will be in Rome vs. a team (coached by the ex Spalletti and, yes it's sure, with Cassano) who want its revenge.

Milan 0 - Siena 1 is my prediction.

and I damn sure hope I am wrong.

On the other hand, if it was Milan vs Juve, I would predict Milan 1 - Juve 0. Milan just can't beat the smaller teams :P

If Milan are going to win this game, it is going to be a 1-0 affair. Don't even dream of a 3-0 win for Milan lol.

Bosniaco....I had taken the info from soccerTV.com, which has since changed, and indeed, it seems that the game will be shown delayed ( :d55: Stupid GolTV) at 10pm on Sat. :irritate:

I stand corrected, and totally pissed off that they would chose to show a La Liga match over the Milan game...actually, now that I have rechecked the site, its an Ecuadorian game they will show...:moan:

Guess they couldnt afford to carry the Milan game live...so its back to following the game on the phone, and waiting up for the delayed broadcast... :d55: stupid GolTV...

Official squad for the Siena game from acmilan.com:

SQUAD FOR SIENA
9/9/2005
GOALKEEPERS: Dida, Kalac.

DEFENDERS: Cafu, Costacurta, Kaladze, Maldini, Nesta, Stam.

MIDFIELDERS: Ambrosini, Gattuso, Kakŕ, Pirlo, Rui Costa, Seedorf, Serginho, Vogel.

STRIKERS: Gilardino, Shevchenko.

So, looks like we will probably see Rui, as we may start with only one striker...wait..sorry oops, forgot that the "real" coach :rollani: says we have to play with 2 strikers at all times..sheesh, how stupid of me...

gazzetta(the newspaper), Gattuso is only dropped because he played the 2 games for Italy and he is needed 100% for the CL.

Gattuso shouldn't have talked bad about Milan like that. If Pirlo can play so could Gattuso but now he is paying the price. :ilol: Go to Rangers now mate! They'll welcome you more. :D

Nadir
10-09-2005, 11:33
Yah. it's happening. Gattuso is being phased out - and Ambrosini is being honed as the midfield battler for Milan. This only makes sense as

1) gattuso has constantly talked about leaving Milan
2) ambrosini has better ball control and goal scoring skills

If this continues, I wouldn't expect to see Rino at Milan next year.

I don't think that Gattuso is being phased out at all. Ancelotti is using the system we all wanted him to use last year. He is rotating our most important players. IMO Ringho is more suited for big games against big teams to hold their main attacking midfielder. So Ambrosini over him today isn't a bad choice and Gattuso will be in against Fenerbahce.

i agree but when we put 2 and 2 together, we can conclude what is happening here. gattuso hasn't been oozing confidence lately and that pessimism is not healthy. not just that but his whining about wanting to leave Milan is annoying many of the fans, as well as the team. Really, if he wants to leave, he should be sold so we can make money out of him.

9/10/2005
MILAN: Dida; Stam, Nesta, Maldini, Serginho; Ambrosini, Pirlo, Seedorf, Rui Costa; Shevchenko, Gilardino. Coach: Ancelotti.

SIENA: Mirante; Negro, Legrottaglie, Colonnese, Portanova; Alberto, Tudor, Vergassola; Locatelli; Chiesa, Bogdani. Coach: De Canio.

So we get the confirm that Gattuso is on the bench!
Glad to see Rui back, so Kaka can rest for the CL.
If you look at the bench, we are without any striker and for a team like Milan, is bit a worry.
What's up with Pippo? Still injured? Would he be back before the end of the year?

COMMENTS (1st half)

1) Gattuso would NOT have been able to score that goal had it been him instead of Ambro.
2) Let's not get too excited. The reason Milan are ahead are because Siena, unlike many small teams, did not come to the San Siro to defend. They have three attacking players up front - Bogdani, Locatelli and Chiesa. Milan will probably STILL struggle against the small teams that play to AVOID defeat. Credit to Siena - they came to win.
3) Just like last year, Milan can't finish games off?? Should have easily have been 3-0 by now. 2-0 was good, but 2-1 puts them in an awkwards position for the second half.
4) However, Milan have been playing some excellent football for the 2nd game of the season and the team is falling into place.

i've seen first half and... We look ok. But every free kick or corner we are AWFULL!! AWFULL!! Gila is ok, stam very good, and maldini and nesta are brilliant. Seedorf is once againg reall heavy... And I dont like the way we are playing our defence, we are just staying and playing zone on 35 m. We need to press more in the middle!! Seedorf sucks in defence, he is always late! We suck from free kicks when we are attacking too...
Well, thats it.

Very clear that they are fitting together more and more every game, true that they had 13 wrong passes, but they improved as time went on

Rui isnt his normal self, he didnt do what he usually does.. sheva is doing good, gila is trying, but he will get his goal sooner or later.. ambro played good, and i hope that he will permanently take gattuso's place, because we do not want players that threaten us to leave us to start for us..

Sheva played gooood, so did our defenders, and there's something that every1 should notice, stam is not bad at all as a right back, he played quite well on the flank, and dribbled through his player a number of times, but ofcourse he is no cafu..

Dida saved a sure goal, and nearly saved their 1st goal, but he is not to blame, it was Ambro who wasnt marking his man after a set piece..

We really have problems with set pieces.

He was quoted making some innocuous statments that the drama queens have, as per ususal, blown all out of proportion. Honestly, like the tabloid writers, when there is no news you must make some of your own devising. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill.
People complained all last season about squad rotation and when it starts happening it is some kind of shocking event. Must be a conspiracy! Some of you need to get a grip.
Now, as for Inter's typical display against Palermo...that particular bandwagon (so full in September every year) is going to get a lot lighter. What lovely dreams of success they have in Fall so often turns to third place and one little tiny trophy no one particularly cares about in May. To be an Inter fan must be depressing yet strangely comforting in its typicalness.

Nadir
10-09-2005, 14:37
Sheva's goal disconnected the inner goal's bar from the back bar. Basically - the goal is broken and now they have like 20 guys standing around the gola trying to fix the damn goal. Even Serginho joined in to fix the goal. It was hilarious....

oh and another comment, Stam has become a right winger in the place of Cafu for this game. And he's doing a terrific job at it too.

hmmm, just heard the match on radio and it sounded a satisfactory performance. We seemed to dominate and we didn't ever really give much away. Siena did get a goal, which is disappointing, but overall, it seemed we never really gave them a chance in the match to threaten our win, which is something we should really be looking to do (add a more ruthless element to our side, rather than rely on technical ability alone).

However, I won't being able to see the match until the delayed viewing on tv this thursday.

According to eurosport comments they were walking on a thin line... i think there were 2 other 1vs1 with dida (we're lucky to have him) and crappy defending from set-pieces. That needs to be worked out

Gila needs to open his scoring list, i think he'll be ok then. I just wish he doesn't get selfish and pass when he's not in the best position.
