Again, I refuse to believe there is no post for this match. :dontkn:
What are we doing sleeping folks?
We need another good win in this away match, one that will bring some of the confidence back into our midfield, and for the defenders to concentrate during set plays.
Samp is a tricky team to face, and a very talented one, that could realistically cost us 3 points.
What is intresting will be Carlo´s team selection....while I wont even guess at who will play and who wont, I only hope that he gets the selection right...and doesnt start Rino and Max together.
More on this after lunch! :uhm:

I think this is the best possible moment to face Samp - they have a game on Thursday and won't have that much time to prep for the Serie A game vs Milan. Plus, right now, Samp are a bit shaky and are still far from the ballanaced team from last season. I expect this to change with time as things will fall into their places, but right now Samp is a much "easier" adversary than thay would be say 1-2 months from now.
I would expect us to play with:
Dida - Cafu, Nesta, Stam, Serginho - Ambro, Pirlo/Rui, Seedorf, Kaka - Sheva, Gila

yes, you are right. I have seen them vs. Vitoria in Setubal (1 -1), finished 20 min. ago: they are far from last season team.
MILAN
Keep in mind there are many Milan players there... Samp along with Udinese, Palermo and Fiorentina could complicate any of the big 3 (Milan, Juve, Inter) anytime...
I would expect
Dida, Cafu, Nesta, Maldini, Kaladze, Pirlo, Ambrosini, Serginho, Kaka', Sheva, Gilardino
Lets just hope our midfield plays good game with lot of pressing in the middle and more possesion than last two games. This time...Gila will score! I would love to see 1-0 or 2-0 victory with no real chances for sampdoria. That would mean we are back. It would be nice to start like this ...dida-cafu-nesta-stam( if paolo needs a rest)-serginho-ambro-pirlo-seedorf( first ask him will he do any running or just sitting on the pitch...)-kaka-sheva-gila.
NO VIERI! And Carlo, please dont do something stupid and close the game in 30th min.!!

Excellent point, and I echo this sentiment.

ditto the above...

Amen, :w221: to that!!!
Let me hasten to add that while I am not anti Vieri (as much as I was anti Bierfoo...ahem Bierhoff), as I still think he needs a little more time, I still prefer Gila to start....as once he does score his first, Vieri will just be an expensive bench warmer until :dconf: (God forbid) the youngster gets injured.
This brings up an intresting thought: What to do if Pippo doesnt come back, or, even if he does, who do we bring in to understudy the bench pairing of Vieri and Inzahgi? That for another thread though.
I havent seen Samp, as some here have, and I hope that they are indeed fatigued and below their best, the perfect time to take on a potentially troublesome side. :hammer:

Whats happening to Pippo? Will he be returning to action soon? From what i last know it is end of september right?
We need 2 win this game. Samp played recently so i presume, they'll be tired. I hope Maldini takes a break. Hopefully Stam can recover in time 2 cover for him. Gattuso should be benched. Ambro,Pirlo,Serginho and Kaka. Gila must start in place of Vieri.
after Samp we take on Lazio. So this is an important match.
Anyways, I want Ambro to sit this one out and give way to Gattuso who has been under a lot of stick from Milanistas. I think its been overdone. I just saw the game againts Siena and he DIDNT DO BAD AT ALL.
I think Pirlo will miss this one as Carlo said a few days ago so I hope we see Rui Costa again.
Gila should play but so should Vieri. Would you drop Sheva?

Pippo will soon be back - The official site claimed that 2 years ago, so he will be there any moment
I'm 50-50 on this game. A loss wouldnt surprise me one bit as Samp is a very good team. I tell you what... the game when we face Fiorentina worries me more than this Samp game. I'll take an away draw and be happy. Main thing is that we never lose a game at home this year. That would give Milan some space to f-up once in a while on the road. Nobody's perfect.
I am positive that we will win, if Kaka can continue his divine form and Sheva only needs to score once every game. :D
I have missed all the three games so far this season. That has never happened to me before, I now can't wait to get back to my normal life. :)
Its important tha twe dont concede any goals. We can always score, sheva-kaka-gila can do wonders together with fwe crosses from serginho and cafu. But most important thing is to stay tight in the middle, kaka, seedorf ( or serginho) have to play defence! So does sheva!
What's up with Marek?? When will he be back??
Pippo will soon be back - The official site claimed that 2 years ago, so he will be there any moment
*lol*
but honestly i hope he comes back at some point in the season because i don't think 3 strikers are enough (if we have to play 2 strikers each game).

Mhh this will be a very difficult match, but i also think this is the best moment to face Samp atfer their UEFA-Cup game on thursday! for me is Samp on the same as Palermo, Udinese and Roma! and it will be very difficult for every team to win at the Luigis Ferraris stadium!
My line up:
Dida
Cafu-Stam-Maldini(c)-Kaladze
Rui Costa-Pirlo-Ambrosini
Kaka
Shevchenko-Gilardino
Nesta should be rested for this game, and Pirlo against Lazio(i think we need him much more against Samp)! Rui must play, Sergio and Vieri on subs! Gattuso?? he should be training at Milanello.......... Give Vogel a chance against Lazio!

Not really..its a Canadian ethnic channel however I have friends in the NorthEast U.S. that have managed to pick it up with some handy satellite work :D
P.S. RAI INTERNATIONAL is airing the Samp-Milan match. And from what I understand TLN will show Ascoli-Juve and not Samp-Milan.

Still 2-1 for Samp. 62min played.
Another big miss by Shevchenko. Missing chances like this, we can't win.
70min played.

Italian media is always talking about the defence of Milan that is not playing so good, but what the hell is wrong with our attack???
Anyway, I'm sure, this team will get better soon! Only a pity that Juve has 5 points more than us already. Those 5 points can be very important at the end of the season. Just what happened last year.

bul**** season at its best ... as someone said, football's biggest problem is that those, who know and can everything are always in the stands.
It is way too early in the season to start with these it's all A's fault, no wait, I think B fvcked up too ... and I honestly don't see why Carlo has to be responsible for, I QUOTE: "Sheva was Horrible! Selfish and nervous. Kaka was bad, gila clumsy", where is his fault in Sheva and Gila missing a bunch of sitters, situations they should have scored but they didn't.
The one thing I could say vs Carlo is that he didn't play Rui today but do you really think he would have saved us .... I don't think so, at least not when 90% of the team is still looking for top form ... but to start pouring BS on our coach so early in the season and, who knows, even blame for the famine in Somalia, now that's stupidity and shortsightedness only football fans are capable of.
All in all, I would be worried if we were in the middle of the season and we were playing like this - errant, unconcentrated, lacking agresiveness (especially in midfield and defence), i.e. not being Milan. This, however, is still the very start of the season and there is time to turn things around and get back to our usual best. Yes, I agree that this has to happen quickly, but pouring BS on coach, team, and management is the worst thing that could happen to Milan right now for the team needs to work and improve quickly but do so in a calm environment ... thank god, our management has more brains than certain MM mebers, or at least I hope that's the case.

Ancellotti is not instilling the confidence they need, we have better players than anyone else, but HE's crumbling of FEEEEEAAAAR.
Where did you get that ... what you think he is playing them horror movies during training or what? Just because a coach follows a certain tactical system and doesn't play with with 5 forwards up front, that doesn't mean "HE's crumbling of FEEEEEAAAAR" ... so far we have won a lot with this coach following these or at least similar tactics ... I honestly don't understand where did you find a reason to call him a chicken **** ... and to tell you the truth, you probably don't know it either but prefer to just conjure up yet another ficticious idea that would give basis to attack someone, in this case - Carlo.
His tactics are in no way more defensive than they have always been over the past 3-4 years he has been with us. When however your players are at 50% of their capabilities in terms of concentration and agressiveness, than any tactics, be that with 1 forward of 4-5 of them, will fail. And this is what has to be addressed immediately, however, it sould be done in a calm environment with the least amount of psychological pressure possible. I am sure Galliani knows how to handle these situations for he seems to be a very steady man, the one I am worried about is Berlusconi for he is the one who often dresses up like a fan and starts using his mounth long before his brain kicks in ...
diabolical result.
We'll be out of the title race by november/december at this rate.

Alright, alright... I'll keep following him through, then...
But tell me then who should I have to blame then... Besluska?... Our aging defence?... The emotional CL defeat or the prior depor?... Fans who criticise (for the good of Milan) to those who make them suffer?... Me because of lack faith?... Our ever slow starts?... Too much pressure putting themselves on?...
Where is the thrust then?...'cause I'm very much interested in finding a solution, as you are.
We are not criticising Carlo just becouse of this defeat, no!
Whole summer we were doing 3-5-2 formation, and now, when season started we dont have any training at set pieces ,crosses, our play form wings is just AWFULL!!
Cafu didnt cross a single sharp and good ball, pirlo CANT cross from free kick!! When was the last time we scored from corner?? We were 1-2 down and in comes serginho for GATTUSO, kaladze stays in and plays LB. Ok, seedorf mooved to the right but, where is 3-5-2 now?? He is scared, that is where!! There is too much improvisation in our attack and WAY too little trained combinations....

I am not trying to tell you who to blame, I am trying to tell you to give it more time, and that way more thought, before you start hastily jumping to conclusions on whose fault it is. When things go wrong, the easiest, and unfortunately the first, thing to do is to throw the blame on someone without taking time to think if this is that the case at all, let alone if that is the best i.e. the most fruitful thing to do.
Tell me, what do you think will happen if Carlo gets sacked by Berlusca in midseason? Do you think this will help the team gain more confidence given that he is a coach who is loved by his own players and not some freaking sadist?
When things/results go wrong, the first thing clubs do is sack the coach because it is easier to get rid of 1 person rather than selling 5-10 or so players and getting new replacements. One thing that maybe often gets overlooked, however, is that in cases like Milan's when the coach has the support and love of his players, by firing him, you will unsettle the whole team
of 20-25 players and not just 5-10 of them. That way, the whole concept of a team and team spirit gows down the drain.
IMO, the biggest mistake Milan could have done and still could do is get rid of Carlo. He has proven to be a very good if not great coach and showed that he isn't one of those coaches who fear changes by adjustings his tactics according to the type of players he had or by reinventing new positions for certain people. He is a coach we cannot easily substitute and truth is there are not more than 3-4 coaches out there, who could, I am not saying they will, successfully take over Milan from him. Well, apart from Ottmar Hitzfeld, none of them is available. But again, when a coach like Carlo, who has earned the support of his players, gets fired, there is no guarantee that the next coach will cope with things any better for the whole team he would inherit would be emotionally unsettled and rattled. Then you will see what "lacking confidence" really means.
What I am trying to say is that it would be stupid to lose a coach like Carlo just like that for I believe he has the talent and proficiency to lead us to glory for another 3-4 years, at least. For this to happen, however, he has to be given the right environment to work in, something I am not so sure he has at Milan any more. And by this I am referring to the players he has available at his disposal, players, who have won a lot over the past several years and have grown complacent with thier own success, players, who are taking success for granted and seem to have lost that ferver and agressiveness on the field that brought them those trophies. And I don't blame for this for they may be professionals but are above all just people, and we all know how undermining and deceiving success can be. And when someone like Gattuso, who is all determination and grit on the field, starts showing the usual signs for this, it is all very clear what the remedy is.
What I mean by this is that Milan doesn't need a new coach for there are few better than Carlo out there. What we need is fresh blood and new players in the team. And by that I don't mean Milan getting some 19-20 yo youngsters, who have still a lot to learn, but players, who are not just brimming with talent but are also hungry for success. It is always best to add 1-2 new classy players to ANY department of the team - defence, midfield, attack - but do so EACH year, no matter how successfull the team has been. This way, there won't be any danger of destroying the heart of the team, on the contrary, there will be more competition among the players and no one will feel safe for his spot. Well, this is something we haven't done especially when it comes to midfield and defence for we have kept playing with virtually the same "nucleous" for more than 3 years now and even when some new player is brought in, usually that guy is too mediocre to gain Carlo's confidence and trust, so our coach is constrained to use one and the same players over and over again, although, at least on paper, Milan has a squad with great depth. What I worried is that Milan has come to a moment when many players will have to released/sold and new subs will have to be brought in, and this could create some problems until the new guys settle in the new environment. This wouldn't have been a problem if we had done this gradually over the course of the past 2-3 years for, in that case, the backbone of the team would always remain intact yet refreshed, and the changes in the team would be very smooth rather than ubrupt and sudden.
So, for me, if there is someone to blame this is the management and not the coach. But as I said, let's wait before we start pointing the finger at someone, for it is way too early in the season and, in the end, there might not be a reason to blame anyone for Milan could win either Scudetto or CL, or maybe even both. Then everyone will be happy and fault-searching/witch-hunting won't be a very popular activity, after all.
Forza Milan !!!!!!!!!!

No way, 4 years with one title, not enough!!!! NEVER!!
Let's not forget that these are grown-up man we are talking about and not just some 15 year old kids ... especially when it comes to 35 yo Cafu. So, because Cafu couldn't cross or because Pirlo had a bad game, or because Sheva played like biatch and couldn't score once from several great chances ... so, all this is Carlo's fault?
All the coach can do is guide his players but he can't play instead of them on the field. My point is those multi-millionaires employed by Milan are grown up man and like such, should bear the responsiblities for their inability to cross or score from a couple of meters away from goal, and the coach's back shouldn't be used as a fence to hide those players' own fvck ups.
In pre-season, Carlo tried using a different approach to the game because, no matter how surprising it may sound to you, football, like everything else in life constantly EVOLVES. We have been playing with more or less the same system for 2-3 years now and other teams, especially the smaller ones, have had the time to get used to it and have become more and more efficient in closing us down. That's the reason Carlo tested how the team would be able to addapt to a different system, a system which could be used in certain, not all, games, depending on the opposition.
Please, give it more time and patience before starting with these unproductive accusation but even if you are so impatient to do so, going against one single person is everything but sensible - losing, just like winnng, in football is a team affair, after all.
I did say that our season would start from here after the diabolical opening game result. Unfortunately we failed the test. Lots to do or this season could just become a season of saving grace rather than winning anything.

Let me tell me you man, I'm not seeing Milan on a steady improving performance these latest games on the contrary, it has been anything but consistent... But I'm still yet gonna let you and your Ancellotti JUST ONE encouraging performance to chance my mind. If the next game doesn't prove your point I'm gonna continue with my campaign against him. Sheva plays like that becouse he has no respect for Carlo! Its clear! The man is not a winner, a in juve he was fired after one season, in came lippi and...you know the rest. Milan managment is also donig so-so job witjh transfers. Next year we will be in real trouble without paolo, cafu, rui getting older and slower,costacurta,pippo...Im afraid we dont have that much money to make it up.

I didn't wrote that "esay" to make a point that I understand football or not ... I just tried to make a point why I think these pointless accusations against Carlo and his probable sacking will lead us to no man's land and will not only fail to improve the team but will in fact make things far worse. The only thing I tried to do is give support to my opinion rather than just jump out with some "naked" slogan like "Carlo is the one to blame, let's sack him" without much reasoning supporting it, which is something a number of people have done after today's game.
Well, let me tell you one other thing - if one single game is gonna profoundly influence your opinion on Carlo, then you'd better ask yourself how reasonable your opinion initially was. I agree that it's good for things to change and evlove but if one single game is gonna do that to your opinion, this puts a big question mark on its initial rationality. So maybe, reading that essay above won't be such a waste of time.

More than no time at all, which is more or less as much as you have given it so far ... don't make the mistake to think that I or anyone else who supports Milan likes seeing an out-of-shape Samp beat us. Your reaction however, and sacking Carlo will not make things better, only much worse ... just give it time and be patient ... actually why I am I telling you this, after all, it's not you who decides these things but that nosy prick Silvio, who thinks he can do everything better than anybody else ... that guy can be such a clown at times
Sheva plays like that becouse he has no respect for Carlo! Its clear!
When you say something like this, it is always a good idea to have something to support it with, which I could safely say you don't. So, please, let's keep the feet on the ground and the thoughts in the realistic half of life
The man is not a winner, a in juve he was fired after one season, in came lippi and...you know the rest
yeah, Milan won a CL and a Scudetto, not to mention that Coppa Italia too.
Man, be more patient and have more faith ... or as Warro Bantan would probably say - roll up a joint, sit back and relax :devf:
5 points behind Juve at this stage of the season is a disgrace. Samp are strong at home but we still should have won. We have easy fixtures over the next month, if we don't get maximum points Ancelotti should be sacked. I expect Milan will try to get Donadoni as his replacement for the rest of the season.

Please. It isn't one single game though is it? It started with the Deportivo game during the 2003-2004 season. It included last season's failures (which were monumental) and now this season. If Kaka weren't playing for us, we'd be lucky to have any points this year in either Serie A or the Champions League. How many more failures do you need? This is Milan and mediocrity is unacceptable. Carlo should be coaching second tier Serie A teams where finishing second is applauded. We need a great manager, not a pretty good one, or we will continue to finish second place (if we are lucky) to Juventus.
What really annoys me about ANCELLOTI is that he never ever concedes that we played poorly... HE NEVER DOES... Just blames chance and never says that there is a problem, doesnt explain how two years ago we were completely dominant... JUST SAYS THE SIDE IS STILL NOT IN TOP FORM... Well its not like the other teams have played an extra season... The same with this Sampdoria defeat... I am sorry but there should be a progression in terms of advancing we are on the recline, he has to be more agressive and demanding from his players... Thats where you got to hand it to capello who is very candid when talking about his team... And its not fear its not anxiety but we are nowhere near the solidity of the other teams even INTER... I mean ANCELLOTI even was jubilant at the game with FENERBACHE and to be honest if it werent for KAKAs magic we would have disappointed with at least a draw if not a loss... HE DOES NOT COME out and say we are toooooo vulnerable these games... VULNERABILITY is not in his book.. we (the fans) get ****ing nervous throught the matches of this season... I dont think thats the case with JUVE AND EVEN INTER FOR GODS SAKE... Yes they lost to PALERMO but they dominated the other games as for us we have not had a dominant game yet let alone a clean sheet... ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY DAMMIT AND MOVE FORWARD... and then he says ITS STILL EARLY, i remember this kind of crap at the end of last season against JUVE never got RILED UP AND TRIED TO ASK FOR THAT EXTRA GRIT... The GRIT THAT WE ALL WANT THE FIGHTING SPIRIT not the BROKEN DOWN DEFEATED spirit we see so often and then just WE HAVE NEXT GAME... No progression.

I don't understand why is Carlo expected to lead us to a double - Scudetto and CL - every year in order for people to call him a great manager. In over 100 years of great Milan, no one else has faced such vicious expectations, yet we are one of the most successfull teams out there. In 3 years with Carlo, we have played 2 CL finals, won one, won a Coppa Italia, a scudetto, and lost another last year simply because the team was way too exhausted both psychologically and physically, at the end of a long battle on two fronts ... not to mention the support Sreie refs give Juve on a more than regular basis. And all that in just 3 years at the club ... not to mention that before Carlo took over Milan, the club was strugling to come out of obscurity and mediocrity, while the team ... well, I am not sure I could refer to that bunch of players as a team, not before Carlo took over.
Why is all Carlo's success always bellitled and when will fans finally face that cruelty of the real world and namely that no matter how great a team is, it is not feasible to win a CL or a Scudetto, or both, every single year, simply because there are people involved in all this and none of us is perfect, not even Carlo's replacement.
The most important thing for Milan is to stay competitive ... as long we are there, sometimes we win, sometime we lose. Removing Carlo will unsettle the team and we will have to start from scratch once again ... only to later realize that even great teams can't win all the time.

Calm down guys, we are just at the start of the season.. Yeah, its true that everytime we drop points Ancelotti uses that as a reaso, but, today, is the only game ive seen in a very long time that Milan played well and dominated possession, but we just couldnt create and chances to attack! Samp closed really well today and should be complemented for their great performance.
Milan played a really good game guys, ya'all should calm down. Juve went up ahead of us in February by 8 points last year, we cut difference to 2 points in a week. Now its only 5 points, and there 35 games left, sheesh, we should calm down..
Things to note from this game:
* SHEVA IS AMAZING and will always be amazing.. started the game off well..
* Kaka should have been rested after a busy week, Rui really should have came on.. But ppl wud think No, Kaka shudnt have been rested hes on great form.. But unfortunately, today wasnt his day, and he didnt play well. We can't just keep letting him play for his wonder goal. He needs to convince us he can do better than Rui every game!
* Gila scored his first goal - good news. But the bad news is - after he scored the goal, he still showed alot of hesitation. Although I LOVED his wierd shot in the 2nd half, the 1 from 6 yards.
* Ancelotti was really stupid to remove Cafu and put Vieri. Its so stupid for many reasons.. We were training to play as a 3man-defence all summer and Carlo wudnt play it cuz we didnt train well enough on it. And then, all of sudden, out of the blue, HE SWITCHES TO A 3MAN ATTACK that we have never tried. We were clearly missing a right midfielder in Cafu, and up front we had Sheva, Gila, Vieri and strangely, they caused NO DANGER AT ALL ever since we changed to that formation.
* Seedorf's passing, movement was fairly disappointing. Gattuso, someone I dislike, played a good game today (compared to his standards). Pirlo had a bad game. Ancelotti's two substitutes Ambro and Serginho hardly did anything.
Well guys, losing now to me is far more better than losing later in Champs League quarter finals, at least we're learning how to deal with these mistakes we're doing, such as setpieces, and not playing with 3 strikers, and not playing with ambro and gattuso at the same time.
Fans will play a big part in the next Serie A game we have. We must be cheering the team all the way. Milan will win the double this season. Its been a long time where i've seen a team win anything without losing one game (forget the Premiership, it sucks). Lets back up our team instead of criticise them.
FORZA MILAN! :)

What a dissapointement! I don't know where to begin! I think Dida needs some rest, maybe Fiori should play the next game. Also why on earth Rui Costa is always on the bench? That really pisses me off that a player of that caliber never sees the field while those over-rated bums Gattuso and Seedorf are the regulars. Someone needs to get rid of those guys!
Also Shavchenko sucked today but I caught him some slack as he is still Milan's best player. Gila showed improvement but not by much and why Vierri is coming to the game so late( 80th min)? He should have been starting.
I am losing confidence in our coach very quickly. I think he is irrational and not firing in all cylinders! someone needs to can his ass!

Personally I never liked Ancelotti.
He lost a Scudetto (or two??) with Juve which was already won.
Yes, Milan won a CL, a Scudetto and an Italian Cup.
But, after La Coruna and Istambul (do not forget, the game with PSV), we are not capable to kills games.
We have great individuals as Kaka and Sheva, which gave us lots of victories but:
- Our game is always the same, running on the flanks or magic passes from Pirlo.
- Our opponents knows how to make us in difficulty.
- Our midfield is not capable to protect the defence
- We are getting silly goals from passive plays (the first one today, is clearly an example)
- Our defence does lots of ball watching, maybe the age, is a clearly a problem, we are just too slow to react.
-We need new faces with passion and will to win, Gattuso recently interview, shows that we have players without commitment.
It is just the beggining of the season but look around, they are teams with more willingness to win and never forget, Istambul and La Coruna will be always in our players mind (just listen the chants from other tifoserie).
For me, the problem is Carlo and find very difficult to believe, we can win something this year, he lost the plot.
There are other teams (NOT PLAYERS) better than us.
For your record, my first live-game was the one with Lazio in Roma when we wont the 10 scudetto, I watched Milan in Serie B, for me Milan is everything in football and will always support Milan even we do not win, but it is a sad to see such, fantastic individuals not capable to be a winning team as for today.
We had chances to kill the game, we missed them and pay the penalty.
Till the next game, Forza Milan!

Bravo!! That is what im saying!! Its NOT JUST ONE GAME!! If you remember last season I opened a thread something like this " the end of carlo ancelotti...". He did won a CL and scudetto but one scudetto in 4 years is NOTHING! He never gets 100% ot of our players, he did "create" pirlo but nothing more. And how many bad tactical moves or games do you people need to see he is not milan coaching class. And silvio should shut up to! When we are second it should be a BAD season, and carlo is always just smiling and asying " we were ok, unucky...4-0,3-3, pure bad luck.) And remember 2-0 then 2-3 juve-man utd??
Im always gonna say this, we need stronger manager.
And about Sheva and carlo? When you look their relationship you can see sheva dislikes him, the way he speaks to him when he is going off. You ever see that with cappelo or mourinho' Lippi?
No. So, Carlo, by,by...right now.

AC Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti wasn’t too disappointed following his team’s 2-1 loss at Sampdoria.
“Its hard to explain how this happened because we played very well for over an hour. We played better than against Siena, but we had a great adversary in-front of us. I am happy for Gilardino’s goal,” said Ancelotti.
“If I had to play the game over again I would make the same choices. But we need to take care of the minor details,” he added.
Juventus have now a five point lead over Milan after only three matches played.
“Lucky them,” was Ancelotti’s response to a journalist who reminded him of this.

Maybe I'm naive but I'm not exactly ready to see Ancelotti's head on a platter outside the gates of San Siro. To summarize this game: Samp. capitalized on two opportunities while could not be accused of not attacking in the second half (after the 55th minute). They didn't exactly play bad. That said, Kaladze cost us a goal...he has always had a history of bad defending since the 2001-2002 season and continues to show his weakness. Pirlo looked extremely tired and Kaka look frustrated.
This team has not dominated a game this season ... they had trouble versus Fenerbache and also didn't dominate Siena. Many thought confidence was restored with the Fenerbache win...far from it. This team has yet to find its groove.

Milan played very well from my point of view, we just didn't have luck. We attacked all the time, I also have to give a lot of credit to Samp good defence.

I don't expect him to lead us to a double every year. You say that Carlo shouldn't be blamed as it's the players that play the game. Doesn't that mean that our past success is attributed to the players more than Carlo as well? Either way, he is a mediocre manager. With the quality of our squad, there is no excuse for mediocrity. It's okay to finish in second place, but not the way it happened last year in both the Champions League and Serie A. Carlo should have been fired at the end of last year. I do agree that firing him now would not benefit us, and I'm not throwing in the towel on this year yet, but, the signs are troubling.
Come on guys, we cannot blame Carlo for this one. We did (almost) everything right, just Samp got 2 chances and they scored.
That is football. We had plenty of chances, but could not take them. We also started rather poorly last season, but ended up in the top with the best. And sacking Carlo is absolutely nonsense!!!
good match, not easy to get alot of chances against a team who plays with 10 defenders, they where also very lucky with their 2 goals, these matches happend to the best of teams

Please, read more carefully posts you are about to reply to ... and try to actually get the point they are trying to make before you hit that "Quote" button. Of course, Carlo has to be held responsible for poor performances of the team - he is the coach FCS - what I don't agree with, however, is to blame him for ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING that takes place on the pitch such as - Cafu, a 35 yo player, who has captained Brazil to 3 WC finals, can't make a decent cross, well, that's easy - let's blame Carlo for it. Or Sheva, a 29 yo seasoned player, the current Golden Ball winner, he can't score from a couple of meters out, well, this one's on Carlo too.
See, there are things out there for which not the manager but the players have to bear the responsibility. Of course the manager is the most pivotal figure in the team and when things go wrong questions must be asked but not just any questions, not for absolutely everything, even for things other people are responsible for - the players are grown up man, this is not the youth squad of Milan that we see playing, and for certain things they have to answer, but it is always so much easier for 99% of people to just blame the coach and this is what's being and will be done.
Still, you say you don't expect Carlo to give us a double every year but you continue calling him a mediocre coach. And what are your reasons for doing this? Let me guess - the Dortmund game, the Riazor game, the Istanbul game, a few other games MIlan looked shaky. SO all in all, 5-6 "messed-up" games in a span of 3 years? Well, ask yourself is it really worth firing a coach and risking sending the team back in oblivion, because this is where we were before he took over, just because he could have done better in a couple of games? But even with these "bad" games in hand, didn't Milan also win a lot under Carlo and became a team that plays not just winning but also attractive football? Do you really expect from Carlo's successor to be absolutely perfect and never have such "bad" games at all? Because, you know, before a team has a Riazor disaster, or an Istanbul one, or a San Siro one vs Juve, a lot of things must have happened, a lot of things must have been done right before a team exits the CL at the 1/4 finals, or reaches the final but loses it, or fights for the scudetto until the very end with a strong team like Juve, who could afford the luxury to concentrate on Serie A only, after being kicked out of the CL, and who, let's be honest, have a lot of fans among the Serie A refs. You know, until a team reaches such moments of playing "bad" games at that high a level, an awful lot of things must have been done right, but I guess most fans overlook this and are willing to blame the coach just for that final wrong step.
Success must not be taken for granted and I am afraid Milan fans are doing exactly that and they will bitterly remember these days should Carlo gets fired and the team goes back in mediocrity, and reaching the 1/4 finals of the CL i.e. reaching the "opportunity" to have another Riazor disaster looks like a fancy dream to them ... and before Carlo, Milan were exactly that - a team that could only dream of getting kicked out of the 1/4 finals of the CL, a team that could only dream of losing a CL final, because before you lose one of these, you actually have to reach it first ... but hey that's not important, it’s a given and will happen year-in-and-year-out once Carlo gets kicked out, so why talk about it.

Any highlights from the match ?!?!
bad game, bad result... everything's bad... except Gila has opened score sheet eventually...
I only watched the last quarter and I am very disappointed with our defeat . We are having a slow start to the season like last season where we started to catch up after around seven weeks . Carlo's last sub of replacing Cafu with Vieri and moving Stam to the right-back was stupid because we were chasing an equalizer and he pushed in a striker whose main strength is aerial balls and removed the player who is able to feed him with crosses . He fielded a target striker and removed the supply line from the right flank . We are having a big problem with our defence in general and our defence on aerial balls in specific . We need to improve much starting from our next match against Lazio otherwise we will lose ground with the top spot . We have also to give credit to Sampdoria who are really a solid side even though we failed to capitalize on any of the numerous opportunities we created .

We do not need Carlo SACKED now, that's for sure... But supposedly he has committed ACMilan to reach Scudetto and CL this year... Well, then get up to SPEED NOW!... Not at half season, my nerves will wear down, then.
Maybe Carlo is not that bad as a coach, but lately has received some hard defeats that are proving difficult to overcome psychologically, and "probably" he's the one most distrusting himself, and if he don't get out of that blow as quickly as possible WINNING!, then we all will continue down this same road 'till who knows when.
We played well, but we lost and conceeded 2 silly goals like always. (don't blame Stam.) The goals conceeded this season till today where because of our fault and not cuz of our opponents ability. all could have been avoided easily.
However last year we had 4 points from the 1st 3 games and then we played Lazio and started to climb up. Hope the story repeats itself again.

No offense but its shows you didn't watch the game..Cafu had an off game..he had trouble keeping up with attackers and was having trouble finding space in attack...yesterday he was not the usual Cafu we are accustomed to. In addition, Serginho had opened the attacking game much more and was feeding the attackers a fair amount of balls ... Cafu was a liability not an asset yesterday..which is rare.

Sampdoria vs. AC Milan
Serie A 2005-06
While I know the score, I haven’t seen the match, so unfortunately, I will have the opportunity to sit through a match, already knowing that my team have lost, yet, needing to sit through 90 minutes of hell, just so I can find out why.
That Madrid are losing one nil as I type this is scant consolation, as I ponder Inter above us in the table, now two points ahead of us, as well as Juve, who won again, as far as I am concerned, because of dubious refereeing decisions, Pavel Nedved, for example going unpunished for committing two yellow card-able offenses in the first half.
But about the match in question, I can only surmise, that the team couldn’t compensate for Ancelotti´s weird team selections, or maybe a mistake of the aging defense who cant seem to police a set piece properly, much less keep a clean sheet.
Harsh sounding though this criticism is, it is not unfounded, nor is it premature, as I have questioned our transfer policy from the pre-season, while applauding the purchase of Gilardino, I was looking for more defensive acquisitions, another centre back, and an understudy for Cafu perhaps?
So, three games into the season, and we have won one, lost one, and drawn one. Four points out of 9. Certainly not scudetto winning quality. While Sampdoria isn’t a Juve or an Inter, they are, like Fiorentina and Udinese, teams with talent and cohesion, and as such, cannot be taken lightly.
Can it be dame luck that has deserted us so early in the term? Or the payback for a poor transfer policy..arising perhaps from overconfidence in an aging defense?
Time will tell what impact this stumble will have for us in the scudetto chase, a race we seem hell bent on losing, though, in all honesty its early doors yet, and a whole season of matches to play.
What is even more worrying is the fact that we lost after a taxing midweek UCL game, which, again, because of faulty team selection (Gattuso shouldn’t have been on the pitch to create the penalty in the first place) we were on the brink of losing points, and at home to boot!
Kaka´s moments of brilliance saved the day though, and maybe today, he was a bit off his brilliant best.
Questions remain about how quickly Gila will adapt, and make a working partnership with Sheva or eeediat Vieri…another example of our “save at all costs” transfer policy that is failing us badly.
I hope that we regain form, if only so that we can overcome the nightmare of Istanbul in the UCL, as with inconsistent form such as we currently display, the Serie A battle will be over before we wake up and realize we have lost it.
Well, ok, lets be real, we are 5 points what seem to be a runaway Juve, and 2 points behind Inter…but only 3 days into the season. Can we gain ground on Juve? Their team looks to have shrugged off the impact of losing key players, and with their usual assistance from the match officials, they will be difficult to catch.
Inter have more depth than any other Serie A team, and once Adriano is on form, then they will win games, their all round talent, and recent acquisitions seem to be paying off, unfortunately for us.
So we sit, somewhere in mid-table I would assume, though the profusion of drawn matches this weekend may serve to mitigate our overall drop in the standings.
Not the place for Milan to be, not the place for a team with title aspirations.
I am sorely vexed, disappointed to not even have come away with a point. And with this we seek to challenge a battle on three fronts?
Naah. Don’t think so. Though this statement maybe premature, I must make it: In what will probably be another trophy-less season, there seems scant consolation in the knowledge that Ancelotti will be departing come June, if not before.
Let me hasten to add that all the above was typed minutes after I saw the end score on my cell phone, without the benefit of watching the match, or reading articles/posts. How far off was I? Too close for comfort is my reply.
Indeed, I also want to make it clear that IMO, it would be counter productive to sack Carlo now...just 3 games into the season, but I really doubt that he will be with us come next term, if he hasnt won at least one trophy, and by the looks of things now, he has a difficult task in gaining ground on Inter and Juve, at this rate.
While all is not lost, we are now (domestically at any rate) under pressure, at the very start of a long campaign. Not necessairily the best way to begin your campaign.
FORZA MILAN!!! Win lose or draw, you are my one and only.
The thing that bothers me the most is that we had 2 months for preparations, and Carlo hasnt got a first 11 that works properly. Rotation in ok and it has to be used, but to say that pirlo or kaka are tired after 5-6 matches in season...well, something is wrong with their fitness then. You need to have first team and then rotate when players get tired, in the season. Not in the first 3 rounds...
Our defence is now really slow, even cafu. He is, really.
Something needs to be done in january. Not mush , but just a little refreshment. Oddo & felipe
Guys, I think we should stop blaming Carletto... although I do think Marco van Basten may come for next season after Germany WC...
Yesterday was a bad day... lady Luck plays only with good teams, and only when they are good... Milan is not bright right now, and we all know it...
Dear ACMilan1983, I did watch the game... Midfield showed some strange movements... started with the expected: Pirlo in front of Maldini and Stam... Gatusso running from side to side, mainly on the right... along with Seedorf... and Kaka' to the left... yes, just like against Fenerbahce for his great goal...
Kaka' didn't do so well this time, didn't touch the ball much during the first half... Sheva was doing part of Kaka's job creating chances, like Gila's goal...
There was a point in the second half when Pirlo and Kaka' switched positions, so Pirlo was playing like a 10 and Kaka' like a 5. Didn't last long, because it didn't work. With the subs. (Serginho taking the left, with Kaladze, Ambro replacing Pirlo, and Vieri replacing Cafu) there was no idea what to do... everyone trying to put it in the area and see if Vieri, Gila, Sheva could put it in... there was never big offensive pressure...
the last five minutes where like if they were about to arrive to halftime... Vieri's header was close... that's about it...
I read your post carefully, and no offense, but clarity and conciseness are not your strong points. In furtherance of the points posed by Milanium, why do you feel it necessary to repeatedly question whether people read your posts carefully before replying? I ask you, did you read my post carefully? I didn't say Carlo should be blamed for everything. That would be idiotic. And, obviously both wins and losses are attributable to both the manager and the players. But, you must admit that the manager should motivate the players. The players obviously do note motivate the manager. The manager selects the tactics, line up and substitutions, not the players. I also disagree with your assessment of the 5 or 6 "messed up" games you referred to. Those were not meaningless games, to the contrary, they were pivotal games that could not have been more meaningful. I also question why you feel that we will fall into oblivion without Carlo. There are other managers who can get the job done, and in my opinion, there are managers who can get it done better than Carlo. Does that mean that every manager can? No. Obviously our management will have ensure that they select a manager who is capable of leading our squad to trophies, but I say it is possible. I'd rather take a chance on greatness than accept mediocrity. Finally, your reference to Milan before Carlo are somewhat inaccurate. I agree that in the immediately preceding years we were playing poorly, however, one cannot simply say that Milan before Carlo were mediocre period. It has not been so long since the Sachi and Capello years has it?

hmm, Kaka played on the left?
Could you (or anyone else) please explain how our midfield was set up? I know we started with Kaka, Pirlo, Rino and Seedorf in midfield, but exactly how was it structured?
As you can probably guess I didn't get to see this match.
At the end of the game when we were pushing for an equaliser Carlo used this formation:
Maldini - Nesta - Kaladze
Kaka Seedorf Ambro Serginho
Vieri Gilardino Shevchenko
We should never ever never ever never ever play with this formation again because NONE of our attackers touched the ball since we did this formation, we couldnt bring the ball to them
