View Full Version : AC Milan - Reggina (All comments)

Oldman

I wonder why there is anybody open up a new threat for the upcoming game against Reggina??

INHO, this is a very important game because the other 2 scudetto competitors will be facing each other at Delle Alpi, Juventus vs Intermilan.

The best result for us is if we beat Reggina and Juve and Inter got only 1 point each( a draw game)
If this really happen as I hope then the table would be as below :

Option 1
1. Juve : 15 + 1 = 16 (Draw)
2. Inter : 12 + 1 = 13 (Draw)
3. Milan : 10 + 3 = 13 (Win)

or maybe another possiblity would be better if :
Option 2
1. Juve : 15 + 0 = 15 (Loss)
2. Inter : 12 + 3 = 15 (Win)
3. Milan : 10 + 3 = 13 (Win)

What's your idea on the above option, which one is better as next week Inte will have to play Livorno.

Option 1 is the best, Milan - Reggina is going to be live on GOL TV for viewers in US and at 2:30 Juve - Inter LIVE.

option 2 is definitley better....the fewer points we are from the leaders the better chance we have in catching up!!

I'd say option 2 aswell, with some sendings off and injuries in the Juve-Inter game aswell :D
I hope we get a heavy win and a clean sheet to increase confidence again. Hopefully Bobo can get off the mark too. I'd like to see Ambro start.

rae
30-09-2005, 03:10
Yup, Ambro should start. He is ready to do that. In my opinion Bobo will end his goal draught

Option 3:

Bin Laden hijacks a jumbo on Delle Alpi_

I'm expecting a win from this one and a draw from the delle alpi between gobbi and merde

I'm expecting a win from this one and a draw from the delle alpi between gobbi and merdeI do the same, because in my opinion it is best way to go out of this situation. They loose points and gain the maximum. That's the best. But you can never be sure... that's why football is so catching :3band:

:hah2: Option 3: Bin Laden hijacks a jumbo on Delle Alpi_

:D :haha:

How about Option 4: :r11: Inter and Juve both lose...:D

ok so thats not possible, but I like :1old: Oldman“s start to the thread, intresting way to begin a prematch thread. I like. I definately like. Option two is my choice. :mex:

I would of course, like to see Rui Costa, even if he wasnt at his best vs the Neandertals of Schalke, as well as Ambro.

I want Gilardino to start, then be subbed for Vieri, but only after Gila scores...if he doesnt score, then Vieri can continue warming the bench...IMO, :hmm2: Gila needs some 90 minute games in order to quickly get to his full potential. Vieri just needs to sit there, earn his money quietly, and get games if and when (GOD forbid) one of our starting strikers gets injured...and if Pippo gets fit before :hammer: eeediat Vieri, then we play Pippo before that lummox of a player.

Ok, yes, I was harsh, but until Vieri justifies his huge wages, he can just continue to collect Berlu“s money, while sitting quietlyon the bench. :dconf:

I do expect a victory, though this version of Milan can only seem to guarantee a lot of swearing (by yours truly) :510: :d55: in the tv room of my little villa.

If Carlo plays Ambro and Gattuso, together, I will take a plane to Milan immediately to give him a piece of my mind...I cant see why he would though, but then again, he so very often does things that my miniscule mind cannot fathom. :eekani:

We need to win, and keep winning, as we are behind in the race, and though many matches remain, we cant afford any slip ups, until we are..say..10 points ahead of the chasing pack?

Damn, you took the words out of my mouth. :grinser:

well, the most important thing is that we should beat them both home and away; that way, we don't even need to care how they are doing. when sampdoria won 90-91 Scudetto, they beat Milan twice, Inter twice, Napoli twice, and one win and one draw with Juventus. The excellent head-to-head results with the other four giants (Napoli were the defending champions that year) were what gave them the Scudetto. :pp20:

i'd rather inter win really, and im pretty sure they will, juve and capello have both always had a tradition of beating small teams always but losing to the big ones.. but this juve is stronger than the ones in previous years, so i dont know, so are inter as well.. i want to see inter win, because then inter will drop more points throughout the season than juve in my opinion..

everyone at milanello has been saying that we will be seeing the best milan at schalke, and that wasnt near it, now they say it'll take 2 more weeks..

the one thing im really looking forward to is... PIPPOOOOOOOO INZAGHI

its not just that... we collected 21 out of 24 possible points vs the big 4 (juve, inter, roma, lazio) in our scudetto season ... we beat roma home and away 2-1, inter home and away 1-0 and the historic 3-2, lazio 1-0 and 2-1 i think and juve 3-1 in turin and 1-1 in milan

Yeah, if things go more to plan now, the derby d'Italia result shouldn't matter, but really we need Juve to not win.

We have to forget about Juve and Inter - we need to focus on our own matches... This is once again a must win match.
I expect following lineup: Dida - Cafu, Nesta, Maldini, Serginho - Ambrosini, Pirlo, Seedorf - Kaka - Shevchenko, Vieri.

totally agreed. Forget about the Inter - Juve match. What goods can it bring if we dont do our job at the San Siro. Anyone knows any live streams to the game? Once again, ESPN in Australia shows the 'best' Serie A match this weekend ..Lecce vs Cagliari !!! something is seriously wrong with ESPN.

kaka needs a rest, hes been playing excessively! rui costa was on magnificent form, it is only carlotti to blame that rui lost his form, he scored 4 goals, and alot of assists over pre-season! vieri scored 7+ goals in preseason, and still nothing.. i hope vieri hits form sooner or later, but i am still convinced that from day 1, buying vieri will cost us so much

The latest news, at least the one I last read, is that Sheva may very well start on the bench tomorrow for he got a knock vs Schalke. So, chances are it would be Gila-Vieri from the start tomorrow, although I wouldn't completely write off Sheva.
Would love to see Kaka rested and Rui play from the first minute. Depending on Stam's condition, Cafu could also start from the bench with Sergio at left back. Pirlo should be rested, IMO, but I am not sure that Carlo has much trust in Vogel to play him from the start. And with Ambro injured, I wouldn't be surprised if Andrea does start indeed.
Forza Milaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan !!!!!

hitmannq8, there is another opinion about Vieri and Gattuso, today in San Siro: when Bobo missed that last break there were only great applause. Vieri has made great movement, he keeps the ball when we come out from our mid, he played well, imho 6,5. Vogel game is 6,5 too, imho. Seedorf not so well, he can do better.
Anyway, san Siro is happy

bro, when crespo came,he knew how to control the ball and pass it - even on his worst day.. VIERI CANT CONTROL IT MAN! his passes are soooo DUMB, and all those flicks he keeps doings is just terrible..

i mean, rui costa is having a TERRIBLE game today, but i am one of the biggest fanatics of rui, i still support him, because i know how good he can be, but since vieri joined milan, i have not seen 1 good thing off of him, except the shot he took vs Ireland when he played for the national team, but yet again that was not for milan..i hope he finds some sort of form sooner or later, because he is by far alot more useless than JDT

there was a nice chance for vieri a while ago, but i honestly think that vieri wanted to cross it, and it ended up going in the top right corner of the goal as a chip.. because ive seen most of vieri's goals, and ive never seen him score a chip before, for him to score a chip from the edge of the box is just not him..

The score should have been a lot greater for us. The substituts like Rui, Vogel and Stam and a RB played well. Everyone was trying to help vieri in scoring his 1st goal, but he lost some 2 or 3 clear chances. At the end we conceeded the usual goal because of lack of concentration.
Very happy for Maldini's 2 goals maybe this will silence those people that say that our captain is finished because he's 37. Although 37 there are very few defenders better than him.

?The important thing was to get the 3 points after a hugely dissapointing draw in midweek against Shalke 04 and now we have internationals and a little break from serie a :beach:
BTw Juventus- inter 2-0... juventus will be a hard team to catch this season. As for inter i think their scudetto chances are not very good ;)

If Juventus really keeps playing like this the whole season, they deserve to be the next champions of Italy! But.... I don't think they can play like this the whole season, cause they are like a machine! And soon or late, a machine has problems. :) Also Juve will have problems soon or late I think.

We played well today, especially in the first half. We had some many big chances, it was quite unbelievable we only managed to score two. Great to see our captain score two goals... Vieri did well today, however he had at least 5 or 6 MEGA chances, but sooner or later he will score...
The result 2-1 does not show the match as I really was, because we dominated throuht out.
He is how I rate our players.
Dida - nothing to do, could not do anything with their late goal.
Stam - decent performance, had some good forward runs, although he also had a couple of blunders defensively.
Maldini - enough said. This is a true legend.
Nesta - it was his mistake that they scored. He misjudged the ball totally. But also decent performance, but he can do better.
Seedorf - played well. As I said many times before, he is a great box-to-box player and very important for our tactics.
Gattuso - the old Gattuso was back today. Determined performance, great game!
Vogel - I am impressed. He is not Pirlo, but his passing is good, and his positioning is very good also. One of our best today.
Rui Costa - many of you guys were crying for giving him a chance. To be honest, I think he was the our worst player today. MANY lost balls, lacking pace etc. He is not the player he was a couple of years ago, but still a good back-up. But that is all he is. A back up player. Sorry guys (and Rui), but that is the simple truth.
Shevchenko - poor match. Looked tired after the Schalke match and were rightly substituted.
Vieri - well, what can I say? He played an okay match, but a striker is judged for the number of goals he scores.... Vieri missed 5 or 6 100% chances today.... Wauw...

Paolo I am so proud to buy your jersey last month. Lots of my friends were telling me I should buy a younger player jersey like Kaka or Gilardino if I am going to spend that kind of money but for me there were only one choice: Paolo Maldini, even if he retires , God forbid, tomorrow I still would have done the same! He showed it today, with two beautiful goals! what an amazing footballer and what a great person and family man! That is why I am a Milan fan along with the legendry Rui Costa and Billy Costracurta!

Long live Paolo Maldini!

i was not one of those calling for him to play more often, to me, he is our worst signing in the last 10 years. He's certainly not our worst player, far, far from it, but he had delivered so little when we paid a huge amount for him, anyway that'd not the point, I read a match report and it said he deserved a goal for his assist plays.

Very happy to hear about Vogel, he was rubbish against Feherbace and I feared we would see little of him.

As for Gattuso, well, he's only happy when it rains apparently.

I disagree, Manuel Rui Costa has been amazing in a very limited role. You want to blame the bums it should be Seedorf and Gattuso, what have they ever done?

Stop the Manuel bashing!

I am not saying he's been a bad player, I rate him baove the two you mentioned, but they cost a lot lot lot lot less (27m less in Seedorf's case), at 27m you expect a real match winner, it took Kaka replacing him to turn us into a real force, Gattuso has one more matches for us than manuel. But lets not bash him ok.

A little love for Maldini is in order.

I don't really understand why you are putting Juve up on this pedestal. They were nothing spectacular today. It's Inter's own fault they lost this game. They continuosly gave a way stupid free kicks directly in front of their own box. Which is how Juve hurt them, 2 freekick goals. Also in attack they were garabge. They were trying too much outside of the box always too many passes too many steps making defending easy for Juventus. Playing long balls to Martins was there only dimension for most of the first half. Adriano was playing off of Martins instead of the other way around. It just seems to me that teams are a little afraid of Juve right now. Before our games we always hear it from the opposition: We can beat Milan, We are playing to win. You never hear it from a team coming against Juve. Right now every team doesn't have faith to beat Juve, but eventually they will hit a rough patch and when they do things will change.

I agree that Inter did not come out to play...but it does not surprise me that they couldn't get their act together because they have a coach who has no real system in place and has created a team that relies on individual efforts rather than a team one. One week Adriano scores 3 goals literally carrying the entire opposing defense on this back and the next Cruz pops in two goals combining well with Veron...They don't have a point man which the strikers work with nor a real system the team abides by. They are in shambles half the time. Today was no different...where was the midfield?? They let Juve run their course ... where was this defense we keep hearing about? Where was Samuel??
Juve has been good this season but I don't think they have deserve their spotless record...they got lucky against both Udinese and Parma. They have improved their midfield and at this point Camoranesi, Vieira, Emerson and Nedved are playing very well and compliment each other.
That said, I don't think they are too much for Milan...Milan have had what critics called a 'crisis' yet still managed to stay in second place and lose one match .... What MIlan desperately needs in confidence in players like Gilardino, Vieri and especially in the defense which has come under heavy criticism in recent weeks.

I only watched the highlights of the match and I am extremely happy for our legendary captain . There are no limits to what this legend is capable of . Two beautiful goals the first he dribbled past a defender in no space and placed an angled shot into the far corner with his right foot and the second with a magnificent header after he rose highest to a cross from a corner . The result is very important as we usually struggle against minor sides and our bad results against a number of them cost us the title last season . It seems that Vieri broke all the records of wasting clear-cut opportunities . In the highlights he wasted around six opportunities . That is not a good sign and he must start to deliver especially that he will start a lot bearing in mind Carlo's squad rotation system . We must also not forget about the wheather conditions and the heavy rain which made our job much more harder . I believe we were vulnerable in defending aerial balls as Reggina forwards twice got free headers from crosses . We must work on that . Finally the other results of the day means that we are currently in the second place behind Juve with five points separating us . Hopefully we will catch them soon .

One of the hallmarks of a championship winning side is that it can win when it's not playing it's best. They beat Inter, the second most on form team in league, they already beat Udinese, apart from us that's them beat the other 2 top 4 teams in italy already this season. It will take a massive effort to beat this Juventus/Capello combination.

Capello teams' performance falls in december, every season. Now they have Ibra and Trez out: it's no good at all, because you know who Del Piero now is.
They are lucky because of the pause for the national teams.
Anyway, it's a long way to may.

Ok my take on the game:

We played a solid game for 89+ minutes, then lost concentration for their last goal. Everyone from Serghino who failed to tackle or foul, to Nesta who misjudged the ball and allowed it to bounce, was guilty. Thankfully, it was the last play of the game, I wonder though if they would have been as relaxed had the offside goal that Reggina scored stood...we would then have given up the equaliser in the last minute....

Ok, so we were 2-0 ahead, so I guess the guys just relaxed...sheeesh, lets hope Carlo let them have it for that gaffe.

The team on a whole played well though, despite the last minute idiocy, and I must commend Vogel, who had such a good game, Carlo, who had Pirlo warming up, made him sit back down again.

The rain didnt help our more technical players, but we controlled the match, and should have won by a large rmargin.

Player ratings:

Dida: 8...didnt have much to do, I think he made one spectacular save...but that could have been the result of the purple haze...

Stam: Not bad at RB, not bad at all..got caught upfield on occasion, and was guilty of a mistake or two, but all in all, a 7

Nesta: Good game, except for the goal, 6.5

Maldini: EXCELLENT GAME!!!! Won the game for us, from the CB position.: 8.5

Serghino: Didnt contribute to the attack as much as I had hoped, still did his defensive duties well (except for the goal conceded): 6.5

Gattuso: The man was everywhere, and only messed up a few passes: 7

Seedorf: Slowed down some of our attacks, was unfortunate not to score twice: 7.5

Vogel: The man had a wonderful game, and truly settled, played well, good passing, good tackling, non stop running, controlled the middle: 8

Rui Costa: On and off performace, to be honest. Supplied the corner for the Maldini headed goal, and was very involved, though like Clarence, slowed the counter attacks too much at times. Nevertheless, had Veiri put away at least one of the through balls Rui gave him, we would have won 3-1. : 7.5

Sheva: An unselfish game from the Ukraine Bomber. Surprisingly so, coming after the Schalke match, where he couldnt have been more selfish. Unfortunately, Vieri couldnt make the most of his assists: 7.5

Vieri: 5 (he gets 5 just for being on the pitch, though a 4 would be a better grade in reality) Now, no one, and I mean no one can criticise me for calling him "eeeediat Vieri". What a clown! The only thing missing is his face paint, and water spouting flower. (He already has the oversized shoes, that obviously make it impossible for him to complete the simplest of passes, or score the simplest of goals).

He consistently wasted chances, and why Gila wasnt brought on for him, and Sheva replaced by Kaka, remains a mystery to me, and underscores my disquiet with regard to some of Carletto“s choices. At least Ancelotti picked a good starting line up, only to spoil it by leaving Mr Miss A Goal, aka Vieri on the pitch)

Vieri wont make it to the World Cup next year on the back of performances such as this, and what should concern Azzuri fans, is wether Ancelotti“s penchant for playing the old Italian will spoil Gilardino“s chances of going to Germany in the summer of 06.

So, the coach, who normally escapes rating (well at least from me) gets a 6.5...he picked a good starting 11, but messed up with his substitutions, and not getting his charges to score a 3rd goal, thus cementing the results. The fact that their goal came in the 90th minute, really became his escape clause.

Lets hope none of our players gets injured over the international break.

FORZA MILAN!!!

No doubt but this Juve side is not the Milan of the early 90's under Capello winning Scudetto after Scudetto despite what the 'experts' say. This Juve side is being painted as a team for the ages when in fact I was demonstrating that 'holes' do appear in the team.
They have been able to win even when they are down and that is a sign of a scudetto winner however, its VERY early.....they are starting to encounter injury problems and their is doubts as to whether Del Piero really can carry this team when injuries arise.

2.Veiri had a good game....forget about not scoring, but he created havoc with his runs and power......his eye for goal is still there, he just needs that boost of scoring his first goal....and when he does like i said in another thread....WATCH OUT!!!.....he will go on a rampage...he only lacks that confidence
