Hey everyone,
I was wondering what you guys personally think about Lionel Messi of Barca and Robinho of Real... That would also be nice if you tell me about the likelihood of them signing for Milan next summer(Alhtough I know both are obnoxiously expensive if you wanna snatch them)...
Dr Milano

Dont need him know we have Matteo Ardemagni and gilardino as young strikers . experience strikers : Vieri . Inzaghi and the star striker Shevchenko no more room
i think same we dont need him
Don't need them and neither of them are as good as many people think, at least not yet.

You are right but I feel like they ARE going to get better in time as they will eventually get more experience

i agree with dr milano we simple dont need him we got to many striker vieri inzaghi shevchenko gilardino there is no place for more striker .
with a proper managing and mixing players in UCL and Italian League you can have more players, and a young striker will be needed in case of an injure in Inzaghi or Schevchenko, or just to let them rest.

See, I don't think he is exactly a striker. I feel like he is more of an attacking midfielder, just like Ronaldinho, or even like Rui Costa. I think he can be a good alternative for Rui, that is why I suggested him...
But Robinho, on the other hand IS a striker...
if you are talking about messi yes you r right

Yes I am, AND everybody here seems to think he is a striker HE IS NOT
Of course he is not.
Oh and by the way, tody Argentina played a terrible game vs Peru but the only player that did something different was Messi.

Unless he suffers a long-term injury, he is going to be one of the best players ever to come out of Argentina. I just hope he does NOT get hurt.
well if he keeps playing like that he will get imjured by rival team's backs, but i think many players were big promeses and after some time they were just another comun player... i hop ehe,s nt another on the list.
both players seem amazing from that video, messi ive seen before but this is the first time i see robinho properly.
messi i would buy and play him as LM, robinho i wouldnt, i think messi will become a star of the game with robinho will fade away or become one of those players who play bad but still get praised because of their names

Messi is another talented youngster, I must admit that this kid is very special recently at youth world cup. Barca has already give a restriction for others club who interested on him.
and ensure him in 20 million € or something like that.

15-10-2005, 20:02
Once I've read that Messi is saying that he wants more regular place in Barca, if he didn't get enough match to play, he'll leave. And suddenly Madrid is interesting, so that Barca gave a restriction to the players.
i hope he gets to play in barça's 1st team and get to his best level so we can have him in Argentina national team at his best shape in the world cup.

I think his release clause fee is something ludicrous, like 150 million euros. Just like Ronaldinho

Agreed... If you had a good midfield already and you do not need a midfielder in particular, say you get the opportunity to snap up a very, very good and promising midfielder who can be the future of your midfield, would you turn him down saying you have enough midfielders? I am aware that our priority is a defender, and I'm not saying that Messi should be our priority. I'm just stating his qualiities and sharing my dream with you guys: Just seeing him wear the Milan jersey. I know for a fact that he would never play for Milan, but it would be nice, that's all I'm saying, please read the posts more carefully
SECOND OF ALL, IF I WERE TO CLAIM THAT HE SHOULD BE OUR TOP TRANSFER TARGET, THEN I WOULD WRITE THIS ON THE TRANSFERS SECTION

I've seen him a few times and I don't know what the fuss is about. No young player has ever impressed me as much as Lecce's Victor Obbina.
I don't believe in players ratings but to show I'm not the only one who thinks he is special, how many 18 year olds get a 6.3 by Gazzetta?

I think that's a baseless generalisation.

I think that's a baseless generalisation.
I said there are exceptions, such as Weah and Eto'o... I know it is a genralisation, and I know there are African players who prove otherwise, but if you look at players like Taribo West, Obafemi Martins, Stephen Appiah, Daniel Amokachi, and Didier Drogba, you will probably agree, at least to a certain extent

There are many exceptions, which is why it's a generalisation. It's like saying all Argentinean forwards are inconsistent midgets because of Ortega, Aimar, Saviola, D'Allesandro etc, etc.
Appiah was made a scapegoat for Juve (because of Emerson's poor form) but was superb for Brescia the season before he joined and has been excellent for Fenerbahce in the Champions League. Drogba has had a superb start to the season for Chelsea while Martins is improving every year which is obviously a good sign given his age. None of these players could be considered inconsistent.

I beg to differ, I feel like this is a temporary rise in their form...Then again I hope you are right. Anyway back to Messi...So you think he is nothing special, ONCE AGAIN, I beg to differ
When I see Messi score a goal like Obbina scored today then I'll be impressed. The Italians compare him to Zidane. I say he's the African Maradona.
slicknick
23-10-2005, 15:20
I have never seen Obbina play so far, but I do trust your judgement. BTW Messi almost scored twice last night, one header hit the crossbar, and the other got cleared off the line by the defence.
and check this out

you should wish to have at least one of them in Africa.

OK, list more than 6 players that have been totally consistent. I am not saying they are bad. I'm saying their performance varies almost every game, with the exception of players such as Weah and Eto'o

depends how inconsistent.. the problem today is that u cant find many players who are almost always consistent, very few playes play great for 10 games straight, they have to perform badly on one.
and i can name 6 easily... weah, etoo, madjer, okacha, milla, diarra (lyon)
and besides, african players are still not known worldwide as much as players from europe or s.america are.

Anyway, I do not know who Obbina is, but he has to be really damn good to surpass Messi. Furthermore, I know this does not signify anyhting, but look at the clubs the two are playing for.
One is considered as the future of Barcelona, the other is playing for Chievo. Do not bash me for writing this because I have already said that it doesn't mean anything.

talking about messi during the U-20 world championship Mikel Obi performed better than Messi in the tournament, and you want to know the six consistent players
1.Kolo toure
2.Martins
3.Okocha
4.Essien
5.Bouba Dioup(Fulham)
6.Arouna Dindane
Stezagud
25-10-2005, 15:50
Okocha consistent? well i suppose he is consistently inconsistent ! :)
Seriously, i have seen him destroy a team single handedly one week only for you to not even know he's on the pitch for the next 3 games ;) Diouf is more consistent for Bolton than Okocha.
Shomo what player would you compare Mikel Obi to? I heard he was an allround midfielder but then i heard he is like Cantona?

I can't believe you are saying that Martins is CONSISTENT... Well yes he shines for two games in a row, and then disappears for two games in a row... but YES, he is more consistent than Adriano lately... :5inter:
I feel like you think Mikel Obi is better than Messi b/c he is Nigerian, and so are you...
IMO at this moment Martins is the most consistent striker in Inter milan's squad although i hate him when he wears Inter Milan's shirt but when he wears our beloved Green White Green shirt i gave him my full support
let's be neutral here every Pundits that have watched U-20 Torunament knows that Mikel Obi has shine more than Messi,i wished he could join Man UTd instead joining those Arrogant Chelski because i think he has more chance of playing first team for man utd than chelsea.
slicknick i admire messi's talent just as everyone and i also love to see him playing for barcelona regurlarly, but i prefer Mikel Obi because he is a legend in a making

Obinna is a sphInter player
Messi at Barca, probably, has used hormone of the growth to be as he is now: he was small, a thin dwarf when he was at Newell's, and over there they refused to give him the hormone. Now he's 1.70 tall.

Zidane(algeria), Henry(martinique), Viera(senegal), Seedorf(surinam), Davids(surinam), Essien(ghana), Desailly.... etc. etc. are all African, they just where born in french or dutch colonies that means they can represent those teams at international level.

I wasn't 100% sure that it was african but wikipedia was running to slow. still it dosn't detract from the fact that the majority of great french players from the last 10 years have been african.
I forgot Trezeguet and thuram, two other outstandingly consistent players at the highest level.

anyways he deserves to be on the bench for argentina
they have players like AIMAR and .......Battaglia....Riquelme...Daniel Bilos
Messi is a great talent.
I would take him over Robinho for sure.Brazil always been better than Argentina.
are you serious? Argentina and Brazil are the best two national teams in the world, they are both the best, none is better.
And about messi, yes Aimar and Bilos can be in first place, but Riquelme and Battaglia are not the same kind Messi is, Roman is a full midfielder, a creative midfielder but his movements are slower, he controls the ball in the midle, and Battaglia is a defensive midfielder, he can play in teh midle or in the right, and Messi is a midfielder/striker from my point of view, and cant be compared to Battaglia or Riquelme.
