Sheva, Dida, Pirlo, Seedorf, Nesta, Maldini, Serginho seem certain of starting this game. What about Kaka? and is Cafu alright? I think Pippo might start this game as well.

IMO this is a game where we should use the 3man defence, but I do not think this will happen because Carlo does not trust it.

if juve draws and we win, it will be a great weekend, lets hope fiorentina can do it. Kaka is doing well in training, i think he is ok, and pippo could start alongside sheva.

well, it now looks like rui will play in verona.

Probable lineup is: Dida - Stam, Nesta, Maldini, Kaladze - Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf - Kaka - Shevchenko, Inzaghi.

We really need to find an attacking right-back by January. Cafu is never available and when is, he is not that special :(.

SANT
02-12-2005, 13:28
hitmannq8, I start to realize I disagree with most of your opinnions (nothing bad about that, my friend)... c'mon... Cafu is not that special????

So you think Sergio Aguero is a better player than Cafu?

Warro Bantan
02-12-2005, 15:49
SANT, allow me to explain (IMO) what hitmannq8 is trying to say:

Cafu has set such high standards, that when he underperforms, it is not a "special" performance.

Let me hasten to leave this pending conflict...and go back to the matter at hand.

This is a tricky tie, and one for which Carlo would do well to ensure that he gets his selection right, and right the first time.

If Kaka is fit, then, unfortunately, Rui returns to the bench, but after the Italian Cup performance by Rui, I think he should start over the young Brazilian, who could replace him say with 20 min or so left in the game, allowing a smooth transition back into the thick of things for the young Brazilian international.

Sheva and Pippo to start, though Gila may get the nod over Super Pippo.

Lets hope we finish the chances we create, and I look forward to Marek getting a piece of the action.

FORZA MILAN!!!!!

seedorf isnt on the list for Chievo match, so it seems Jankulovsky will play. the thing I dont like is that we dont have any attacking full backs for this one, stam and kaladze cant do anything upfront. Maybe a 3-5-2 could work tommorow. Pippo didnt play in cup match, so it could mean he will play vs Chievo. And I agree about Cafu, this year he is not good as he used to be, his age are pushing him down. But we must suport him untill the end. Even dough. we REALLY need new RB in january. Without seedorf, serginho, cafu, it will be tough, but we have to win it. 1-0 for Milan will do just fine, aldough Im afraid we will need more that one goal to win it. chievo - milan 0-1 , Gilardino!

sam_3
02-12-2005, 18:43
the thing that boggles my mind is why doesn't the coach play marek as LB especially this week. I know we have lots of left backs in the form of kahka and serginho but why doesn't he ever give him a chance as a left back. wasn't he suppose to take kakha's place (when he was leaving to chelsea).

hitmannq8
02-12-2005, 19:28
Ancelotti does not want to play Marek as a left-back.. Ithink its because Marek does not like that position?

And finally im hopeful that I will be able to watch Marek for the first time start for Milan. Im sure he will be put in a great performance. I hope Kaka comes on in the last 15 mins or so and score a goal to be pumped up for Schalke. Gila should also come in last few minutes and put in a good performance to boost his morale. Sheva should not play the full 90 minutes so we can have him at full fitness for Schalke.

Really hope we go for 3man-defence although I think Carlo is afraid to use it. We have enough midfielders for this game. Pirlo, Gattuso, Jankulovski, Vogel, Kaka, Rui Costa. If we were to use the 3man defence, I hope we can go for a midfield of Jankulovski-Pirlo-Rui/Vogel-Gattuso, with Stam attacking often.

***OFF TOPIC*** I know this is not the right thread, but I gotta ask something about PPlive. I can't seem to get it to work, but I know that it worked before. The problem is that PPlive seems to buffer the channel to 100% but then nothing happens and I know that WIndows Media Player should open once PPlive buffers to at least 80%. If I right-click on PPlive and then click on the "Play View" and click Play then it opens WinAmp and that just isn't right. Anybody that can help?

pplive fails me everytime too! grr.

this is a MUST win match.. this is the only chance to catch up with the damn zebras... (they played us, inter, roma already) fiorentina is the only team that has the potential to really beat them (luca toni!)
and i really don't want to play ricky. it is just too risky if he plays the whole match... and rui should be given the chance!

i agree that we should play 3 men defence now. cos of the wide ranged of midfielders available... and we need a more offensive tactic (we need to score to win!) but unfortunately ancelotti is quite cowardly i have to say.

god bless milan for this match and the schalke one!

You could have a squad of 50, fact is Carlo does not rotate enough when players are obviously getting tired (take end of last season as a prime example). The year we won the CL he rotated more than he does nowadays, we need fresh players who are willing to play.

I'm actually shocked Janka and Rui Costa are both getting a start for once. That being said, I think today was just pure bad form. The point isn't to have a squad of 50 or 60 players but have 25 equally good players and the ones that are in top shape to be played. Right now we have 15-16 players Carlo is willing to trust and the rest are just filling in the numbers for they are infirior to those 15-16.
In football nowadays a team does need 2 world class players for each and every spot on the field - this is the only way to have proper rotation and avoid players running out of gas after 1 half of good football.
I agree that Janku and Rui should play more but after performances like today can we really blame Carlo for preferring Seedor/Sergio and Kaka over them? I guess not.

Yeah I think Billy was right too. Ancelotti isn't actually that great, he is a mediocre manager in charge of world class players, which is the reason he has actually won a few trophies at his time in the club. I mean, why the hell was Inzaghi brought on today? True, but has it gotten to the point where players like Janka and Rui don't get enough games they are far too rusty when they come on. As for todays game, it sounds like everyone was poor, so to single out a few players would be majorly unfair.

anyway you can say any assumpion as we lost! But the whole team is responisble for the lost, Shev a missed the easy chance, gila did nothing, Pirlo and Rino were invisible, Janku's pass was s**ked, and nth to say with the defend!
well you said it is the hell that why Pippo was brought on, but for me it is the hell that why he was not starting the match!Though he couldn't saved the team again but he made a gread chance after sub, jut the keeper of Cheivo did well to come out. i guess the predictions or many are comin tru. in the begining of the season, people said that this wud be the year that the milan team brakes apart. so far it has been true. we are 8 points off serie a and we have to win to get through the group in the last game. people are sayin that carlo is going for the cl, how so? we have been horrbile in the cl. sure we had nice game but we are having trouble qualifying when we are clearly the best in the group. i think big changes need to happen. teams alwais need shake ups to keep winning, you cant expect ti win with the same team 3-4 years in a row. i respect carlo, he has done a good job, but maybe this summer we should look for a new coach.

Who watched this game? What went wrong?
If you watched the Viola game, then you have watched this one too - 100% carbon copy, minus the 3rd goal, which Chievo had more than one chance for in the end but couldn't capitalize on them.
We were very good in the first 35 min of the 1st half - controlled midfield, scored a goal, Sheva missed a sitter ... again, then we let Cheivo get back into the game and they scored in the 46th min of 1st half after cross from a free kick for Chievo (result of a totally unnecessary foul by Maldini). Our whole defence, took a nap at the cross and Chievo player headed the ball to Pellissier, Kaladze covered the offside, I think, and Pellissier had to score from 2 meters alone in front of Dida.
Second half, Milan players went missing, except for Gattuso, and just kicked the ball around as if we were 5-0 up on Cheivo. We lacked heart, lacked charge, lacked any goal in our actions ... basically just slacking around, and Pirlo throwing errant long balls to Sheva and Gila, from time to time when he himself didn't know what else to do. Janku tried hard but he is still far from his best and was just wasting energy without much result, if any at all.
We definitely missed players like Seedorf, Sergio and Cafu, who could have brouhgt in something different for us into this game. Without them, Carlo didn't have much options on the bench and he basically had to sit aside and watch his team being unable to build one single memorable attack for the whole 2nd half.
Basically, I carbon copy of the Viola game. Hope the one vs Schalke is like the one Istanbul but our players will have to get a good rest and put their thoughts together if we are gonna be part of the second stage of the CL this year.

True, but has it gotten to the point where players like Janka and Rui don't get enough games they are far too rusty when they come on. As for todays game, it sounds like everyone was poor, so to single out a few players would be majorly unfair.
I am not singling them out - the whole team was completely out of sorts today. As for Rui, I guess he got tired after the Brescia game he played, same could be said for Janku as they lack matchfitness but still beleive we need 4-5 players in defence and midfield before we can challange on all fronts this year ... and with this WC coming, who knows, maybe certain players are trying to save themsleves from injuries too.

well, by changing Carlo you still have that same team left behind. I'd rather see fresh, high quality blood come in and keep Carlo for another year or two to see how things are going - there is little guarantee that the new coach will do any better than Carlo, and there is an excellent chance we will end up like real did after they got rid of Del Bosque but kept that same team.

horrible game, sheva? wtf was up with him? i kno he scored four goals in the fenerbahce game but he couldnt finish that tap-in?? i think that jankulovski was the only player that played decent today... gila, gila, gila hes not the type of player milan needs right now, ive never seen him run with the ball, or do anything special, awhile back i began to undestand what type of player he is, and now im sayin that he needs to stop his stupid back to the net technique(crespo made effort to push forward and run) and take some shots... i hope we get 3 players in january, one for def. one for mid. one striker...

we played like crap today, and the only one to blame is the players. you cant blame a coach if the players dont come to play. nesta was awful, again! gila had another off day, again! and we couldn't control the midfield, again! i dont know about you guys, but i prefer to win the scudetto then the CL. it seems that everytime we have a game to play for CL, we put in a second string type of team. our concern should always be Scudetto first, then any other tournament. if things keep going the way they are, pretty soon juve will be wearing a third star on their shirts and we'll be stuck with only one for a very long time.

we need to win the scudetto this year!!

if ancelotti is sacked because he wins no titles it is more justifiable than del bosque was sacked even though madrid won CL! i am not sure who to blame, i think it has to be 50%-50% blame to ancelotti and players. if we are so inconsistent like this, we can forget about scudetto, we lost 2 games in the last 3 matches and almost lost vs lecce too! we MUST do anything to win CL this season!!!

Well well, hard luck guys we lost.. I really felt bad we lost.. you see, this is why the Milan vs Lecce game I complained so much that if they won, they would forget all their mistakes... and this is exactly what happened

This game was NOT like the Viola game guys, this one was like the Lecce one, but more worse. Other than Gattuso, PIRLO, Jankulovski, Sheva putting really bad performances, we lacked so much character. We didnt seem to threaten after Sheva's chance that he missed from 2 yards with no goal keeper (not that we didnt want to, I meant we couldnt create anything). Pirlo's passes were terrible today, Gattuso was not the warrior we usually know.

I am very very curious to read what triniman has to say about this game. I want to know if you just think this game is another one of those slipups or offgames and that we were just unlucky.

In 2 consecutive games for our starting lineups (vs Lecce and Chievo) we lacked SO MUCH character after they equalised... we were very careless.. IMO this is a BIG huge cause for concern. We r finding problems trying to be consistent, trying to play the whole 90 minutes well, defending, and even creating chances. I really hope the team's motivation will not be down for the Schalke game. All I can hope for is for Juve to lose, but still, we shouldnt have lost this game. Ancelotti, again is the one to blame, for not having his players ready or for not selecting the correct starting lineup. Im not saying he should be sacked, but he really deserves to be slammed for having 2 games in a row like this (from Serie A).

I think this season has been appallingly prepared for and we're now suffering. Carleto needs to start shouldering some blame but look at the team and the transfers made. The defense is ancient, and poorly backed up. We have 5 proper first team choices 3 of them are over 34 and then we start covering them with players that wouldn't play for mid-table teams. The midfield, it's strong and balanced yeah, but it's stale. and we've known about the problems with Seedorf for 3 years now and yet nothing resembling a threat to his position has even been looked at. The attack, again this is an area that looks good on paper but really it's thin. Sheva is brilliant, but due to having 3 poachers in reserve he's always forced to play as the roaming 2nd striker. His best years have been when he's allowed to play as a far more out and out striker, again we have a lack of variety. We relied to heavily on our track record of revitilisation when signing Vieri and considering we already had Inzaghi he should have been written off as being too old.

We spent 8 million janku, and brought in vogel and Vieri. All players who carletto dosn't deem good enough to start, so effectively we changed nothing in a team that won nothing and already was feeling the years catching up on them. Every position is backed up by bad players or extremely old ones.

I can see us finishing 3rd or 4th as we will probably dip in form near the end of the season like we did last year when the number of games players over 30 has reached ridiculous levels.

so long scudetto, we are potentially further behind juve than man u are behind chelsea (if man u win their game in hand and juve win tomorrow) and bookies have stopped taking bets on chelsea winning the league because it seems inevitable. Serie A is practically over. Maybe if the viola can win tomorrow we still have hope but it's not likely, then we'll be left hoping juve miraculously become rubbish after having been ruthlessly brilliant and we become good after being pretty lacklustre in the last month or so.

hah, Vieri got heading power but as slow as tortoise!
anyway you can say any assumpion as we lost!
Gila played a lot recently and Pippo also showed he was valued to earn a start last week. That's why I ways don't understand what was Ancelotti thinking!

I know Vieri hasn't been great for us so far, but looking at the match we played, I actually think he would have been useful, particularly in the second half. He is a box player, big and muscular, with strong headers. When we were pumping the ball into Chievo's box in the second half, there's a good chance that he could have gotten a few finishes on goal, or created opportunities for others by heading the ball onto them. That is more than I can say for Sheva/Gila/Pippo.
Anyway, I actually thought Janku played a good game, except for a few bad passes (but even Pirlo had a lot of those). We wanted a good challenger for Seedorf's position, and there he is. The problem is that he doesn't get to play enough to gel with the team.

So where do we go from here? There needs to be major changes in the squad, I think. We have a team full of stars, but to win the league you need players who can put in consistent performances every weekend. They don't have to be briliant, they just have to do their job. I actually wouldn't want to lose any of our regular midfielders, but we need players who can challenge for their positions. Why we're not going for Ballack is beyond me. We also need new defenders, but if the rumors are true, we are going to make some new signings in the summer.
But above all, we need a new coach. Carlo has done a good job for us, but it's obvious that it's not working out anymore.

I think the problems we are having this season can be blamed on how we finished the last one: We were in a great position to win both the league and the Champions Leauge, but missed out on both. The players did all they could, but it wasn't good enough. After this happened, the management should have made major changes in the squad. We already knew that some of the players were struggling with their motivation after the end of the season, so why not bring some fresh blood into our ranks?
Sheva said in an interview a while ago that Milan are still feeeling the effects of Istanbul, and I think he was spot on.

I'm for sacking Carlo. Not because he's done a bad job (not that he's done great this year either), but I think it's time for fresh ideas.

Along with that, Milan needs a lot of fresh, young, talented blood ro breathe life back into Milan. At the very least, more depth is definately required.

If Milan is really looking to bring on Van Basten as head coach, then maybe it makes sense to wait until next season before switching. Maybe Tasotti could run the team till the end of the year?

I'm just bummed about the loss and poor performance.

I agreed with you too.Maybe it time for some fresh young player with new coach. Not saying that we want Carlo to be sack but as wat Billy said it true. After few year becoming a coach in the same team the motivation is less.younger player will be more hungry for success then the player that already won everything in club level expecially the defender..Club like PSV played well in CL with younger player and even defeated milan. Maybe with mixture of younger player with the one that we already have it will be turn out to be a good result. Milan problem is simply the defender area.We score a lot but give away more goal compare to the team like Inter, fiorentina,Chievo
and Livorno and same amount of goal that Roma in 9th places. That terrible....

Listen everyone calling for the sacking of the coach!!!! I had had mentioned in the Lecce thread what it would take for us to sack Carlo and that it is not worth calling for the team to not go through to the next stage in order to do such a thing. This message only proves it that already some people here are willing to throw it all away to get what they want!

If I wasnt in the Christmas mood I would have been more than willing to just zap you with negative rep points on your post here Ian.

I honestly hope there arent many of you guys that share this persons sentiment. But as I said careful what you wish for! Would some of you try and take it easy and at least see where the heck the team ends up at the end of the season rather than giving up, especially when we are still in the race for 3 titles here. go ahead, i dont really give a hoot..

milan cannot win anything this year..nuff said..

is there anyone here who seriously believe that milan can win the CL or scud?

im a milan fan but sometimes i just gotta face up to reality..il stand by milan all e way, but fact is..some players in milan are getting way too comfortable by collecting fat pay cheques..

every club undergoes a cycle, milan is reaching the end of theirs, its time for fresh changes.. a new coach isnt necessary..but new ideas would certainly help.

i was pleased that wide players like marek was brought in, cos milan was really lacking width. This season, with cafu at 50%, i dont know what are we gonna do against teams that pack the middle of the park. Serginho is a good player, but he aint every top coach's first pick. Even Marek hasnt played to his full potential..are we really gonna see stam panting up and down the flanks?

i appreciate that ancelotti tried to improvise a little this season..but clearly we dont seem to pick up our game against mediocre and average opposition..are we becoming real madrid?

when milan plays well, thats good, but everytime after a good performance against a top team, something tells me that this team might have peaked too soon.. Yea, for a team like milan whose average age isnt that young, we would suffer the consequences next april/may just like last season..

i tell myself not to worry too much, not to think too much at this early part of the season..but well..let me be public enemy no. 1 here. Im speaking what most milan fans are fearing, but who dont really dare to admit.. " that milan needs fresh ideas, if not this season...then the next "

hope u guys dont mind my blunt assessment.. milan was revived by the likes of rivaldo/inzaghi coming in just a couple of seasons ago..

the time has come..yet again..for a mini revolution..unless we win something this year..

whenever i hope for milan to win, they lose or draw. Whenever i hope for them to lose (which i have never done until now), i dont know what would happen..maybe they would win instead..

its just me..the results are always the opposite to what i have predicted..

the CL winning season..i thought milan had very little chance against juve (they showed madrid who's boss)..but we ended up winning..

next season..i was so confident of sweeping aside every team, especially after seeing milan win 4-1 against depor..but what happened? that was a sleepless night for me...but at least we won the scud

luck has nothing to do with it.we should blame ourselves for the eight point gap and not luck, lack of it, or Juve. Still, I am not that concerned with Serie A for there are so many games to come, including a direct encounter.
The most important step in the near future is to get to the next round of the Cl, as for what comes after that, I hope the management and the transfer-gurus wanna-bes finally realise that you can't tighten the belt year after year and expect the team to be winning doubles and triples. And I am sure that last one is Carlo's wish for Christmas too.

Our lapses in concentration are galling. While I concede that our defence is old, we seem to concede goals when we are day-dreaming, not so much by being outpaced. Remember when critics were speaking of the Juve decline in the 2003/04 season. Back then fingers were pointed towards Ferrara, Iuliano and Montero because of their lack of pace. I think our defensive problems differ in that respect. However, I am fairly sure in January we will be a bit more practical and bring in a defender.

And we lacked that desire to win something against Chievo, which is even more worrying.

Hopefully against Schalke and against Inter we will be a bit more with it.

We cant always blame luck for losing. We need to fix things. Maybe Carlo can start using the 3 man defence? Maybe Carlo can start rotating the players a bit more so he actually field the players that r in top form rather than the players he thinks will be in top form? or Maybe we can continue losing until the transfer window is open, to buy other older players that will satisfy Ancelotti and Galliani? Wait a minute, I remember that Pele had really good seasons before every year of his world cup, why doesnt Braida go sign him and say "Im sure he'll have a good year because he always performs well in World Cup years".

Ancelotti berates sluggish Milan
4.12 || webmaster || $source

Source: Football Italia

Carlo Ancelotti has berated Milan for their lack of aggression and admits that Chievo deserved the victory.

“We struggled to keep up with Chievo’s pace and aggression,” conceded the Coach after today’s surprise 2-1 result at the Stadio Bentegodi. “We met with a team that wanted this win more than we did and consequently we couldn’t keep control of the game.”

The Rossoneri’s problems seem to be in defence, where distractions are proving increasingly costly of late.

“I think the entire team should learn to cover more, not just the defence, and that was particularly clear with the equaliser. That goal came on the stroke of half-time and certainly hit our confidence.”

Milan have now lost two of their last three Serie A matches and must earn at least a draw against Schalke 04 on Tuesday to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League, then take on Inter next Sunday.

“We have to take it one game at a time,” warned Ancelotti. “We must recover mentally and physically for Tuesday’s tie and only after the final whistle can we think about the derby. Paolo Maldini felt a slight muscular problem during the first half and I hope he can recover in time for the Schalke test.”

Chievo striker Sergio Pellissier took his seasonal tally up to five with the opener at the Bentegodi and relished this surprise win.

“We are giving everything we’ve got and even have luck on our side, but our objective is to avoid relegation,” insisted the forward. “We won against a great squad and today was a dream come true for me, especially as I scored in a victory. It’s normal that if Milan attack then they’ll leave space at the back, which is what we thrive on.”

Ancelotti just get out from Milan. I'm so tired reading all your excuses

Yep, we are 8 points behind. Juve is just the best team in Serie A right now, and they also have the luck that a champion needs.

I really hope Milan can still close that gap with Juve! But maybe it's impossible.

And is it true that our Abbiati saved Juve again in several occassions?

is there anyone here who seriously believe that milan can win the CL or scud?

In Italy during 1982 summer, after the first matches, there was probably the same negativism about Italian NT. Who could believe we could have become World Champions against so many great teams? Those were actually great teams, France had Platini, Brazil had Zico, Argies had Maradona, Polish had Boniek.

But we became WC champions. Now i say, don't desperate about CL, we must go through, then we'll have some months to focus on Scudetto race.
I don't think we'll win the scudetto, but we have a chance for the cl. We're too unconsistent for the scudetto, and Capello is the greatest coach for Italian titles Serie A has ever seen. But we can have our say in CL.

Just like Italy in 1982, just like Liverpool last year, when you think you will never make it, the guys may find a chain of great and inspired games. 2002-03 team was worse than the 03/04 and 04/05 from many aspects, but we won the CL. So let's get rid of Shalke and show the balls. I don't deny we must solve many problems. But it's too early to make a balance on our season.

for those of u who want schalke to beat milan and hope that milan will learn some lessons and wake up should probably give up this idea because as long as the arrogance is there, they will never learn. they lost vs depor, and one year later they lost vs liverpool, which show they just never learn! lets face it, istanbul effect will be there forever because it is the the worst defeat in the history of football, how can a team throw away 3 goals lead in CL final??? this is CL final not coppa italia final!

my proposals to erase the arrogance are: first: apply salary caps, so only players that love milan and proud to be milanisti and decent players play for the club, stam is clearly not a milan fan, he plays for milan just for money!, second: dont buy too many star players, it causes egoism!

bring on donadoni, vanbasten or tassotti!

And is it true that our Abbiati saved Juve again in several occassions?[/QUOTE]

When this season start, My fren who is a Juve fren curiously asked me" why is Milan borrowed Abbiati to Juve" I simply answer because it is Kaka whom cause Buffon injury and Milan want to show sportmanship and offered the help.I am so proud to be a milan fan with one of the reason above. Remember, we even get a congratulation letter from UEFA council for displayng a good attitude when we lose to Liverpool in CL final???

I saw few of juve matches and i did saw that abbiati played well.On the night they lose to Milan in serial a this season it is Clememte who played and he played terribley. For me abbiati really helped Juve a lot....No regret !!!

We cant blame him anyway for playing so good.we cant also always hope others to lose when we ourself player can win .

As a milan fan, I believe we all want the best for milan. Some of us do suggested it is time to change the coach with new idea and new player comming. We surely dont want to be like Madrid...there were many big name but not wonderful result. We do miss / like big name. But sometimes it time for a change. There were famous player like Cafu,Maldini & Stam. But i believe they all already passed they best. I tooo like Cafu, maldini and Stam very much..It IS Milan Success more important OR the we want many star player but no wonderful result?? Just ask Madrid Fan.

i too were so upset when Milan lose again.Even more irretating when saw my fren whose support Juve so happy and told me how JUVE won.....But i do believe we can still perform well in champion league.Just as Liverpool last season. They placed 5th in EPL but were the european champion.few years back there always the unexpected winner who won the champion league. It can be a big hope for us starting with a first step start with Schalke since we played bad in Serial A.

But there is always hope and there will always up and down.We all love Milan and i even cant sleep few night back to think of wat happen to Milan...truly....just hope that tomorrow will be a better day...

As always...ForZa MIlan!!!

Don lose hope, lads, so early. Last year we were behind juve by 8 points twice, though we managed to recover. It is still long way to go, 5 months and a half. I still have faith in rossoneri, they are too strong not win this year. And I bet we shall show our power to our cousins first.

Forza Milan

it's different this year though. Juve are a far better team than last year, really consistent, they can win with style and, when they need to, with pure hard work. The margin for error is much smaller, add this to the fact they have already achieved results against roma, inter and fiorentina when we have still to play two of those having been beaten by one plus our next game against them is away from home.

we have to adopt a very professional attitude, a siege mentality to come back from this. there are quite afew rumours we will bring in players in january, personally I think we should wait and see how we stand before doing this. If we're more than the 8 points behind, I wouldn't bother, the league will be gone better to try and work out better deals for us in summer than try and desperation buy some quick fixes.

I saw the game, and much to my dismay, I saw a Milan that had no ideas, no creativity, no aggression, and a low will to win. Whose fault is this? Before I start to sound like the majority of Ancelotti bashers here, let me say this:

He got the team selection right, although forced into starting Marek becuase of Clarence having to return home for family reasons.

I only had an issue with Stam being on the right, but, decided to give Carlo the benefit of the doubt....as Cafu was obviously not fit.

We started the game well, but I was in no way happy about the movement of the forwards, or our overall passing. Then we scored, and, in a way, we were lucky, though Kaladze really did well to regain his feet, keep his composure, and score from the rebound.

Then, we went missing...mentally at any rate. Completely. We did nothing, especially after Sheva missed a sitter...a goal my 12 year old could score..but, even the great ones miss sometimes...that for me, was the sign that we would be lucky to get a draw...then the equaliser....again, from a set piece....whats new? Kaladze didnt mark his man properly, and.....1-1 at the half.

Second half, as NAMMY I believe said, we decided to forget that we had,(at least on paper) a world class midfield, and began sending long balls a la the EPL to the forwards. This for me was a further indication that we had lost the plot. Then I saw the subs warming up, and thought..."Ok, Vogel, Pippo and Kaka...all warming up...then recalled that Maldini was off...so only two could feature...this is where Carlo had an opportunity to rekindle our chances.

Kaka for Ru..no issue there...the Portugese star was waaaay below his best, and obviously, after being rusty, should have been replaced earlier, after his first 90 minute game in a while in the Italian Cup.

Then...to my dismay, Sheva comes off, and while I love Pippo, playing him and Gila together is not the right answer....I think Gila should have come off for Pippo, as he wasnt having a better game than Sheva, even with Sheva´s glaring miss...

So now, cue a few deft touches from Kaka, and the Brazilian magic creates some space, but Marek´s cross, then another from Kaladze, are both poor.

This is followed by more long balls, and me leaving the house in a huff once they scored...so in truth, I only saw Pippo´s half chance from the ESPN highlights. Iwas sooooo pissed, and still am...to an extent.

I am gradually coming to realise that my stance this pre-season was correct, that we will not win silverware this season, and if we do, lady luck will play an immense role. It is still too early to write off the scudetto, but if Juve keeps 80% of their current form into the next half of the term, we will still trail them by 3 or so points, and this with us doing the highly unlikely by winning every match we play from now on.

Carrying this loss into another "must win" game in the CL is devastating to morale, but may serve as a wake up call to the team, as this competition, IMO remains our best hope of silverware this season, though to be honest, I doubt now that we can beat a Barca or a Chelsea when we are so inconsistent from game to game.

Anyway, FORZA MIIIILAN!!!...oh, and in case you think I forgot...all players...bar none, got a 5.5 in ratings, followed by a 5 for the coach.

And to answer the question asked above as to whose fault:

Everybody..from players, to coach, to managment who decided that we would spend the majority of our transfer budget to aquire a forward, and not reinforcing our geriatric back line.

we began the season with so much optimism, although all is not lost, our results so far dosen really justify the vast amounts of money we have spent during the close season.

who can we blame? everyone... everyone has a part to play when a team dosen perform well. Look at chelsea, players like john terry and frank lampard represent the very essence of professionlism...game in game out, they are there and play with so much determination and grit.

GRIT...like the sort of attitude we displayed against juve just a couple of weeks ago. Maybe to sum it up, to be honest, i imagine milan to be an expensive crystal swan...nice to look at, graceful..but at the same time, fragile.

We used to boast abt a solid defence even as little as a year ago, remember fergie praising cafu as having 2 hearts? Unfortunately, this is also our archille's heel nowadays. Our defence is ancient, maybe its the 9th wonder of the world after the original 7 wonders and WWE's chyna..

Who can beat milan? Ask any good tactician out there and they can easily tell u the answer.. "stretch 'em down the wings" "pack the middle of the park" "dig at their delicate heels" "stare them down the eyes"..

u get my idea? milan is getting too beatable..and it does not bode well. Games we are supposed to win without a sweat, we get ourselves into trouble by conceding early..

the ghost of istanbul might be forgotten.. but it would never be vanquished..

The Guardians take on last Sunday´s game, and their thoughts re our manager´s immediate future:

http://football.guardian.co.uk/continentalfootball/story/0,15758,1660185,00.html

The Old Lady is still Queen of the Jungle then, topically enough, and as La Repubblica put it on Monday, "they've already put the deposit on next title" - because while Juve were winning in Florence, closest challengers Milan were contriving to lose away to Chievo. Now Chievo are no pushovers; under manager Bepi Pillon they're unbeaten in 10 games now, earning comparisons with the extraordinary Flying Donkeys side of 2001-02, and both Chievo goals were brilliantly executed efforts worthy of any highlights reel. Still, you can't escape the feeling that had Juventus been playing this game, they'd have left no points behind.

Milan instead showed all their usual flaws: wastefulness (Andriy Shevchenko squandered an even bigger sitter than his Istanbul miss), a lack of urgency and a chronic lack of fresh legs at the back. Once Paolo Maldini hobbled off at half-time to take care of his knees, Alessandro Nesta and Jaap Stam looked lost, and the image of Nesta vainly chasing after Simone Tiribocchi after a brilliant one-two set up Chievo's winner speaks volumes of this once-proud backline.

While Chievo climb to sixth, behind the equally surprising Livorno, the only thing that Milan manager Carlo Ancelotti must be putting a deposit on is his trousers - eight points off the lead, he now has the much derided Internazionale just two points behind him and threatening to take over the title of top Milanese club when the two sides meet this coming weekend. No wonder the rumours about his future are starting once more (approposito; how long before Livorno's Roberto Donadoni gets touted as a replacement? Donadoni is another Milan veteran, and his bargain basement side are still up in fifth, only six points behind the rossoneri).

There's no question Ancelotti could do with pinching La Signora's 'arse' this time - whoever wins in Sunday's derby (shameless plug alert: it's live on Bravo) will almost certainly knock their neighbours out of the title race for good. It should be a spectacular affair, with four world cup favourites in the starting line-ups (Brazil's Adriano, Dida, Cafu and Kaká) and plenty of pressure on both sides.

I hate reading articles of this nature...its really depressing...:moan:....but honestly, Juve look uncatchable at this point...

There is just too many games yet to be played to say the scudetto belongs to this or that team. Don't get depressed, Warro, it's just the usual journalistic crap people fill their newspapers most of the time.

Yeah, that's right. I watched cnn sports news today and talking about our chances tonight they said: "Milan lost 2 out of their last 3 Serie A games "
They could have said for example: Milan didn't lose a single match in the San Siro this season (in Serie A, CL) But it wouldn't have sounded that good for them.....and if we have a good game tonight then we will be the best team in the world!
I'm fed up with journalists!!!! :frustrat: :frustrat:
