Qualifications are over, and now we can start to discuss about countrys wich are qualified to World cup.
Who are your favourites and who will you support???
I'll support Angola, Tunisia, Iran,Trinidad and Tobago and Saudi Arabia...

I actually hope Italy get a tought group so they approach the tournament with the requisite focus.
Too many times they have gone in extremely relaxed.

Group C looks quite daunting :eek:
England have Sweden, T+T and Paraguay. Not a bad draw (could have been a lot worse) Sven draws his homeland as usual :D
Italy will have to be careful as USA can spring a surprise. Ghana are relatively unknown and the Czechs are a strong side.

If ITALY END 2ND PLACE THEN we face Brazil in 2nd ROUND!!! DamN! I hoped brazil can last longer in World Cup so we can enjoy their football! :P
my god, i was going from work to my girlfriends house today, the WC draw was already started and i was thinking on the way '' worst thinng that could happen: Holland, Serbia & Montenegro and Ivory Coast''. I got to my girlfriend's house and the first thing she said after opening the door was ''we got Holland'' and i asked her who were the other 2 and when she said it to me i thought '' oh nooo, not again, four years waiting for the WC and they do it again'', i mean all groups are difficult, but ours is again the ''death group'', and again Pelé is the one who got the ball with ''Holland'' on it, this makes me sooooo mad, oh and Brazil hgets Australia and Japan.......

Saudi always seem to implode at the worldcup, but Tunisia may do well.
i am happy that ukraine do not get a tough group, so hopefully i can see more of shevchenko in second round or beyond. ivory coast is the team to watch. australia will qualify to the second round.

ok, so for group C...holland and argentina will be hard to beat, but i think we surely have a chance.

Dont worry, if they arent good enough to get out of the group then they cant win the world cup. Besides, having extra pressure in the group stages may prepare them for the later stages.

Azzurri all the way for me, with good thoughts for T&T (total underdogs) and Ukraine (Sheva) unless they meet Italy. Uh, make that until they meet Italy. ;)

I will support the United States and am hoping Ukraine do very well in this WC on the account of Sheva.
I dont know how the US/Italy group is considered the 2nd hardest group. Can anybody explain this??? I think too much respect is being given for the US team. They really arent that good so I still am a bit perplexed to those who felt this was a hard group.

I think if you look at it then Italy and the Czechs are the top two, there isnt much doubt about that, but for me its a tough group because the US and Ghana are both capable of pulling off a shock result. USA caught Portugal cold at the last World Cup and gave Germany a run for their money too. Ghana are quite unknown but they do have Appiah and Essien in the centre of the pitch and those pair are capable of shutting down an opposition midfield.
I think Italy will go through but they had better hit the ground running because i really wouldnt want to see them go into the last game of the group needing a win to ensure qualification.

Btw we should get there already at best and forget the usual italian mentality that we get scared of San Marino, Far Oer or Liechtenstein :guw: . We must be aware of our abilities :fero: :fero:

Every WC there's one surprise team... an underdog that no one expected in the semifinals... Bulgaria 94, Croatia 98, Turkey 02... and in 06??? I say Ukraine.

Yeah, they were the first ones to qualify (after the host Germany, and the champion Brazil)... now, with us talking about them, we are taking away the "surprise" from the nomination... but I agree with Mirza... my second choice would have been Ivory Coast with Drogba...
I think that a lot of you guys here are overrating Ukraine just because of Sheva. Now this is coming from a ukrainian who is one of the biggest fans of the team. But outside of Sheva and Voronin, they have very little talent. Their shocking qualification should be credited more to Blokhin. Even though he did not have Ukraine playing very attractive football, they were stubborn and played hard and that is why they qualified. However, that style may be good enough to qualify but i don't think they will accomplish much in Germany.
But on the other hand, Ukraine has been very forunate with the draw. They will probably get out of the group because it is so easy, an they may even top it since I think Spain is also overrated. In the next stage they will probably meet either France or Switzerland, also two teams that are beatable.
But whatever, I'm just gonna hope for success for Ukraine success, and I'm glad that a lot of people here support them, we need all the support we can get :)

I agree, theres always an african surprise team, but i don't think tunisia will be it. I would have said Ivory Coast, but they are in too tough of a group (Argentina, Netherlands, Serbia). Ghana is also in a hard group. I'm going with Togo, I'm hoping they'll pull another senegal on france.

it was after their success that we became familiar with other players... not spectacular teams, just good execution... a star like Sheva, 2-3 other good players, a decent GK, 7-8 soldiers and a little luck ;)

I'd also like that Poland go into the next round, I think that they had good chances, because group isn't hard...
