Thought I had better open the thread for this game, as I am going to Milan to watch it.

With that said it better be a very good performance with loads of goals and a clean sheet. But then nothing's that simple so we will probably lose. Again.

Hopefully we will win 2-0 and with good performance

Forza Milan

Gilardino won’t hide goal joy

Milan striker Alberto Gilardino says he will celebrate if he scores against former club Parma on Sunday.

The Italian faces his old side for the first time since his £17.2m summer switch, but he’s set to archive any sentimental feelings towards them.

Despite scoring 46 goals in two seasons for the Tardini outfit, Gilardino is aiming to net past the club who made him famous.

"I will always have affection for Parma, the team and the town, where I exploded on to the footballing scene," he said.

"But now I am at Milan and if I score then I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t celebrate it. My job is to score goals and my reaction will be spontaneous."

The Rossoneri start the year in third place, nine points behind leaders Juventus, yet Gila still believes the Italian giants can lift Lo Scudetto.

"We think we can catch Juve as we definitely do not feel inferior in any way to the Bianconeri," he underlined.

"Milan have a great squad who can rely on great human and technical qualities. Nothing is impossible from now until the end of the campaign."

Gilardino was inevitably also asked to comment on Antonio Cassano’s transfer to Real Madrid this week.

"I’m happy for him, he will certainly do well at Madrid," he added. "It is certainly better that he went there rather than joining Inter where he would have been of use to Roberto Mancini."

It seems that our lineup will be the following:

MILAN: Dida; Stam, Nesta, Kaladze, Serginho; Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf; Kakà; Shevchenko, Gilardino.

Kaladze as a CB is to me a bad option, let's see what will happen...

Iv waited a long long time to see Kaladze become the player we all wanted, but it never happened. I dont trust him at centre back or left back.

Still no Jankulovski :u31:

Marek simply needs to play few games in a row and he'll be back. And when he is back, he is better than serginho becouse he can attack as good as serginho and defend pretty good too. I dont understamd what is wrong. When you look at the goals we conceeded, you can see its mostly kaladzes or serginhos fault. Marek never got a chance on the LB. Anyway, let crush parma tonight with Gila's goals!

After a mistake of Dida (again) Milan is now trashing Parma 3-1

Dida mmade a HORRIBLE mistake, but we should be very patient with him, he DID MAKE a great save 10 min earlyer.

An excellent first half, despite Dida's bloody awful mistake. Kaka is doing wonderfully, being a constant menace to Parma's defense and scoring a goal with a top class shot; Gila is also playing very well, with great mobility and skill.

Describe what Dida did wrong. Sounds like a real howler ie Leeds a few years back.

Unfotunatelly my english writing is not sufficient for a good description, sorry. But in fact it was an error quite similar to that of Leed's game.

Meanwhile, Parma shortened the distance, 3x2, damn...

Game over, at last!!! 4 x 3 for us!

Well, a beautiful attacking display of our boys, but also a lousy defensive performance...

Another shameful defensive performance by the defence and Dida. If this doesn't convince management the defence needs a major overhaul nothing will.

You are dead right, man. The defense needs a major reshufle, and even Dida is really testing our patience...

Not only a lot of work is needed, but new players too, we cannot overlook that.

I'm quite frustrated with the performance. Going forward we were generally ok. However, defensively I can't really defend the side at all.

Firstly, the positives. Shevchenko, Kaka, Gila and Pirlo were all fantastic. The way they moved and spread the play was simply outstanding which ripped through a packed Parma defence.

quick rundown of players..

Dida was disappointing. Terrible mistake on the corner to gift Parma a goal.
Nesta was solid, usually well positioned too.
Kaladze was disappointing, generally did technically ok, but got dragged out of position too easily (not always his fault).
Serginho was excellent attacking, but defensively was caught out often
Simic was solid
Gattuso was generally be ok, sometimes caught out a little
Pirlo was excellent, often spreading the play
Seedorf was excellent at times, but non existent at others. Defensively should've provided greater cover
Kaka was excellent, needs to develop defensive play a little, as he will need to provide cover in the current system
Sheva was brilliant, excellent assist to Gila and great goal.
Gila was very good, solid in attacking play and scored a good goal.

Defensively, I couldn't believe how shocking we were. Everyone must have been warned that Marchionni was a real threat and that he would have to be subdued. Yet, due to our inability to keep close to him and cut out any supply to him on Parma's right, he ran rings around our side. The factor that made a difference was due to the space provided to him, Parma were either given the opportunity put severe pressure on our defence through him or they would use his runs to really stretch the defence. The midfield seemed to lack the defensive support it needed to provide cover in front the defence due to players not getting back quickly enough from attacks.

Focus was far too easily lacking which led to major problems. The players wanted to walk through the game after half time and that resulted in players being caught out of position or in possession, with them or others not making an effort to regain the ball. Also, the half-hearted attitude the players took really hurt our game, as they also got slack when they had possession, rarely putting effort into our play and thus losing the ball and inviting Parma to attack.

Parma really exposed weaknesses down the left wing of our side and a player of quality down there can do real damage (like Marchionni).

Hopefully Ancelotti will really give the players a good telling off for this performance rather than celebrating the win, as it was dire from us at times.

However, after the negatives, I will end on a positive and note that we still bagged 3 points (the sign of a great team to win when playing poorly) and took over 2nd from Inter.

FORZA MILAN!

I never watch the game but, giving away 3 goal at home to a team like parma is terrible.Milan management will need to do something urgently as the transfer window already open for 9 days.

Kaladze just isnt a centre back. Even Nesta is starting to look shaky, this reminds me of when Maldini suffered from Baresi's retirement. By the way, why is Stam not playing?? simic was ok.

Pirlo, Kaka, Sheva, Gila were all fantastic. Seedorf was brilliant in the first half, but fell asleap in the second.

Rui showed his class and experience when he came on, we could definately use him more than we do.

Nesta is a giant, but he simply can't handle with all the responsability when his peers plays awfully like today.

Yes, let's see what Galliani will do, 'cause he doesn't have much time to do something.

Bad game by Milan but fortunately we won and now we are second that's what counts.
I can't understand how how can we give away 3 goals to Parma??? They hardly even score 2 goals in a match.
If we don't change something in defence we'll end up with nothing

the defence is too exposed, it's not matter of names, it's matter of playing system IMO.
Why Pessotto, Birindelli and others do a great job at Juve? Because they are more balanced, although being miles worse compared to Nesta or Stam (let alone Maldini who's in a world apart)

well I'm glad we win Although it was difficult win. we recieved 3 goals in
one game from very weak side. I'm really disapointed by Nesta performce and Also Dida, we really need to bring a defence this winter transful. Sheva played so good and he saves from draw . Kaka played and scored good. I also likeed Gila goal

From midfield to attack things are working pretty well, but in terms of defense we are experiencing a nightmare.

The trouble, IMO, as expressed in a different post, in a different thread, is with our lack of defensive presence in the middle.

Pirlo, for example, on the last goal, pretty much escorted the Marcionni (or whatever his name is) guy into the box...Serghino, obviously thinking this man was a guest, went over only to exchange pleasantries, allowing the player to deliver his gift (a ball in the back of our net..merry christmas..even if a little late)...

For the second goal, Nesta was caught in no mans land, and let the Marchienni (or whatever his name is) guy to beat the offside trap. How this could be Simic or Kala´s fault is beyond me...

And the obvious reason for Dida´s gaffe was just a momentary lapse in concentration...he went up too high, and lost his footing in the air...(maybe he was watching too many Michael Jordan highlights?)

A lousy win, but a priceless 3 point haul...taking us ahead of Inter (where we should always be), albeit by just a point, but on such things are UCL qualifications assured.
