This can actually be the game thread, but hey, I believe in letting the mods work for their (non existent) pay! :D
Ok, so another in the series of "tricky" games we have this season...a resurgent Roma, who have seemingly shrugged off the loss of starlet Cassano, and are on a winning streak, invite us to the Stadio Olimpico for what has the makings of a wonderful encounter..hopefully more for us than for the Romans.
We obviously have to hope that Stam, Nesta, and the rest of the rearguard and defensive midfield can stifle Totti and Co., and if our forwards, Gila and Sheva can retain their form, with Kaka playing at his usual high standard, we can look for a win, and another 3 points.
Juve will probably beat Reggina(?) while Inter have another potential hiccup vs Cagliari...though in all honesty, this is a game they should win.
So, we go to Rome, needing a win, to ensure at the very least, second place, and to hopefull gain ground if Juve manage to slip.
We should beat Roma, and retain our place in the table, as long as we dont let them into the game.
I would love to see Rui get a run, hopefully we can go to the X-Mas tree formation like we did v Brescia in the Italian Cup, though the scoreline in that game did nothing to ally my concerns with regard to us shipping goals like a freight train.
If we can play the X-mas tree, after we score, with say Sheva in the head, and Rui and Kaka behind him...then I think we will retain, or even improve on the lead.
FORZA MIIIIIIIIIIILAN!! Lets kick some Roman buttocks!!!
Still no Maldini? Still injured?
no xmas tree formation!! you know what don silvio said also how can you leave alberto out!! still think we'll win 3-1 :3band:

I wouldn't mind seeing a X-tree as it would allow us stay more solid in midfield and at the back. With an in-form Kaka and Rui up there, this can quickly become a 2 striker formation. All we need to do is stay focused and take max advatage of every scoring opportunity we get, and of those vs. Roma we'll have more than enough.
Now would be a great moment to see Juve start losing points and vs a tough Reggina side that wouldn't be fiction, IMO.
Forza Milaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan !!!

Note mishie, that I said after we score...ie, we go one or two goals up in the 1st half, and in the second, we revert to the Xmas tree...taking off Gila for Rui...its only because I practically worship the ground Rui Costa walks on, and after his performance vs both Brescia and Parma, he deserves more playing time.
So, yes, I am biased, and yes I know what Berlu said about 2 strikers, but Calro disobeyed him for practically one entire season, and only brought home the UCL title as a result....
As to Maldini“s status? Not sure, he may be back for the Roma game...then again, maybe he wont....
the way things have been developing, we will win 8-7... haha

Shoot, I would be happy with a basketball type score line, as long as we bring home the 3 points!
i agree with you i prefer the xmas tree formation but i don't think carlos position is strong enough to disobey don silvio. as for rui costa and worshipping the ground he walks on i don't blame you still milans record signing!!!! :5inter:

I think its gonna be a tight game but we will win..I cant see Roma causing us any danger but the only danger we will face is being complacent..I hope the mentality is right, and Sheva has scored almost every single time he played in the Olimpico, he certainly has more goals per game at the Olimpico.. Im wishing for a hat-trick but i wont feel bad if we get the 3 points :)

Roma is now having shortage of stricker after the sales of cassano.Hope that they wont score a lot as Milan defence is not as strong as it use to be.Watever the score line Milan must win to catch up JUve and hope they slips...

Thats how I feel, and this is the first time that I feel like this. I m not worried for scoring at the other side is just if the attack can score as many goal as we concede.
Squad for Roma, from ACMilan.com:
GOALKEEPERS: Dida, Fiori, Kalac
DEFENDERS: Costacurta, Kaladze, Nesta, Jankulovski, Simic, Stam
MIDFIELDERS: Ambrosini, Gattuso, Kaką, Pirlo, Rui Costa, Seedorf, Serginho
STRIKERS: Gilardino, Inzaghi, Shevchenko

I be afraid for defence....:( the last games was very poor in realization our defence....
I think that this game it will give answer where is Milan and chances on success...
my type is: 2-1 for Milan!!!
milan to score at least 4 and with stam back in centre, i think we would not concede more than 2. so a 4-2 or 4-1 for us is likely. :devf:
so what will be our back 4 ?
Kaladze - Nesta - Stam - Simic
or
Jankulovski - Kaladze - Nesta - Stam
or what ??

Still 0 - 0, almost half time
HORRIBLE performance by seedorf, pirlo, serginho. we have no game plan!
NAMMY, you are God.
Thanks (and no thanks) for the link. We're just about to start the second half and I got a really good stream here.
No thanks because you've just sabotaged my golfing plans, at least for an hour.

On gazzetta.it I can read that Milan had a very good opportunity to score in the first half. Who wasted that chance?
This (http://www.eurosport.com/home/pages/v4/l2/s22/e10066/live_lng2_spo22_evt10066_mtc120960.shtml) may be able to help, as I can't remember...
Sorry goose! :p155:
Yeah, I'll forgive you today, but next time, OFF WITH YOUR HEAD! ;-)
Oh Clarence! The goal was at your mercy!
Sorry...Seedorf just had a clear open chance from just outside the box...and he curled it just wide...
Yellow on Nesta...
Bad foul call on Stam, didnt even touch Totti! Free kick for Roma outide left of the box.

We're playing bad at second half...
Yeah, we're really opening up the field. Totti and Co. are running around like wild dogs. They haven't created too much, but sooner or later they're gonna create an open chance here. Meanwhile, the Roma lines are tightening up in the final third. We can't seem to put it all together right now.
Ambro in for Rino...
Arrrghhhh....it's like watching Sunderland play. Long ball, long ball, long ball.....
Maybe not that bad... :guw:

They are winning the battle for ball possession in midfield, and overall are looking more lively.
Shevchenko denied by a late tackle ...
time to bring on Rui and Inzaghi ... maybe they can unlock this defence ??
Yeah, good play by Cufre to deny Sheva, and then Kaka on the break...
Yes, bring in Rui. Please bring him in, and soon!
Cufre made another good tackle, maybe we should buy him instead of Chivu :D
i would rather see Inzaghi.

They're outdoing us both phisically and technically...
Grrr, the stream is breaking down..and Roma scores.
If we didn't already know it, we're now playing for second place ...

We are not 'reading' well the game, we need to use more the flanks.
Maybe now that some of the pressure of trying to keep up with Juventus is off, we can play other players like Rui, Ambrosini and Jankulovski more often
But Gre-no-li we don't use the flanks because we don't have wide players ... our main source of width is from the full backs .... Serginho, Jankulovski and Cafu ....

full time :(
there goes the scudetto..
Shevchenko and Kaka were disgusting today.. absolutely shiit.. Why do we still Serginho when we have a player like Jankulovski?
Our team did not play that well, but still, the main reason we lost today was ALL because of Carlo Ancelotti. He did not make the right changes, and waitted to the very end to make them. And as soon as he brought Rui on, Pirlo's zone was absolutely free and that led Totti to assist to Mancini to score. Our offense was VERY bad today, i dont think they had any shots on target (if any at all).. our good performers were Stam, Nesta, Dida, Pirlo, Ambrosini and Seedorf
I don't think the quality defenders we need will be available now, so we'll have to wait until the summer for anyone decent.

Folks, let's be realistic: we need to reshufle the squad.
You can't blame the coach for players not marking people, that's not his fault. Get a grip.

i blame the management for not bringing enough fresh players after the champ league final, Carlo is also an idiot, i watched him on football italia talkin aload of crap about fine turning the defense like an F1 car, all i have to say to that is its hard to fine turn old things.......

I agree with you: Carletto can't do miracles with a squad who have little depth.
Like i said before, Milan's hands are tied as there aren't any players available that will truly benefit the team, squad players yes but not first teamers ... not unless we pay ludicrous amounts of money for someone who can't play in the CL.
Guess we'll just have to be a bit patient, which for some will be vey hard :D
I've open up a new post-game thread, let's bring the discussion there. Mods?
we lost to a more determined team tonight, Roma wanted this more than us. You cannot blame the defence really, because Roma's goal was their first really dangerous attempt.
We could not break down a stubborn Roma defence, where Cufre and Chivu were outstanding. So saying this is Carlo's fault, or Galliani because he does not buy a defender - is crap! Let's face it, we are not better at the moment, that is life. Second place must now be top priority, and the Champions League of course.
Only thing I agree with is Serginho. He is a decent player yes, but he does not have the class to be a regular at Milan. We should try Jankulovski, and see how he does - in my opinion...

one of those nights i'm afraid. lots of work required the squad needs a freshen up in the summer not major changes just some quality to bring competion for places!! don't forgot friends that we are chasing a record chasing juve :3band:

Basically this game was Serie A at it's worst. Two teams without a game plan and without a will to attack, just some random screwing around on the pitch trying to avoid risks and hoping to somehow get that lucky goal. Pretty sad performance from us really, but it's not like Roma was any better than us. They didn't deserve anything more than a point. 0-0 would have been a correct result.

It's one thing to critisize, another to constantly complain, like a number of people here, and still different is to irritatate the hell out of other members by constantly whining about things that, one way or another, don't depend on us and none of us here can fix.
If you are so much into revolutionizing the team, go speak to Galliani, offer him 100 mil euros for all those players you have on your mind, and let us know if he refused the offer. If he did indeed refuse it, you have my word that I will join you in crying out loud - I will complain so much that even you will look like an unpretentious dude.

thinking about it, i'll be happy with a fukin Coppa Italia. we need to win something man. im so fukin mad right now  . how did we loose to Roma? so disapointed; just feel like giving up but that's not what Milan football is all about. we need to keep fighting.

Ahh Milan3869...yes, we are all disappointed, but we could do without the language...there are some youngsters here who dont need to read that sort of vocab.
Well, what can I say? Ancelotti lost the plot early, made his subs late, Stam forgot that he wasnt playing CB, and gave Mancini too much space, and thats that.
Goodbye scudetto (never had any belief that we could win it this year anyway)...so all thats left is the UCL, and 2nd place...still, things could be worse...
