View Full Version : Cris and Diarra would be dream signings

From Sky Sports, if Milan were to sign these two players, the Scudetto and Chamions League would be ours in my opinion. Cris next to Nesta would form a great pairing. Cris is great in the air, very good passer and is exceptional in man marking. Diarra would take over for Gattuso. And we could sell Gattuso to United and use the money to fund these purchases. Diarra in my opinion is better than Michael Essien. He is a ferocious defender, wins any ball that is in his area and is a very good offensive player who would add a lot to our team. Both are outstanding talents and would rejuvinate two areas that are in need of some new talent. These two players and Oddo in my opinion are the dream purchases for Milan. With these three integrated with the team we have now we would be the overwhelming favorites to win the Scudetto and the Champions League next year. I still have faith in this years team...forza milan. :5drunk:

Reports in Italy suggest that Milan will look to strengthen their defence in the summer.

In previous weeks, the Italian giants have struggled at the back and with Jaap Stam departing for Ajax and Brazilian veteran Cafu expected to leave, club officials are preparing for the future.

Milan general director Ariedo Braida was rumoured to be in France to see the match between Lyon and Bordeaux, with Brazilian sensation Cris high on Milan's shopping list.

Cris is valued at €15-20 million, a sum that, at the moment, Milan have no intention of paying, however with the player's contract due to expire in 2008, a big enough offer may tempt the French side to sell him in the summer.

During the game, Braida also took a look at another of the Rossoneri's possible targets, Mahamadou Diarra, however it is thought that Lyon consider Diarra a vital asset and therefore would not consider selling him.

Diarra I have not seem much of so will reserve comment. i think that Cris is a quality player that would probably do a job, BUT! I think it would be another "Stam" signing, I mean pay lots of money for someone in the wrong end of his 20's (i think hes just about to turn 30), good for a couple of seasons, then back in the same situation. We need young talents, by young i mean 20-25. A few seasons ago we were supposedely chasing Cannavaro; if you remember at that time Nesta seemed almost untouchable. Cannavaro went to Inter much to my disgust at the time... a few weeks later Nesta joins us. If Cannavaro had joined us then, he'd be another in his mid thirties, we opted 4 Nesta instead and look? Still a few seasons left (I acknowledge Nesta is not going thru the best of times)

No other way? Hmm, Moratti could write a book and teach Grad classes at Uni of Pisa on how you can spend loads of cash and get a middle finger in return.
It's not about spending lots of money, but spending some and doing so wisely. I guess it's clear to everyone that money will have to be spent but only a fool could think that this would guarantee us success as sometimes a cheap player integrates in the squad much better than some fancy, expensive trinket we buy for our collection.
As for Cris and Diarra, the latter is one of my favourite mids and it would be great to have him at Milan. I agree with everything mentioned in the first post about him, although he would cost us a good sum of money - probably as much as Mascherano, another similar player to consider.
Cris is a really good defender. He had a rough start to his European career but over the past several years he has developed into a first-class defender. Only problem I find with him is that he would be 29 soon, I think, and paying 15-20 mil euros for him would be bad business planning, IMO, especially when players like Gallas (supposedly free), Alex (~10 mil), Chivu (15-20 mil but 25 yo) are also available, more or less, and that's not counting Barzagli or Lugano, who I see as back-ups for those three.

Yes, there's obviously no point in pay a large sum of money for a player that will be probably substituted on the next two years.

My suggestions for summer market:

Out: Costacurta (retiring), Stam (Ajax), Inzaghi, Kalac, Vogel

In: Abbiati (Juventus), Lugano (Sao Paulo), Barzagli (Palermo), Oddo (Lazio) Gago (Boca Jrs.)

Sweendogs

vogel is a decent player but I wish we went after any of the other PSV midfielders last season, like park or van bommel they would have been much better additions to the team. More pace and better creativity, we could have used rui costa in pirlo's role, and had janku and van bommel or park as backups for seedorf or gattuso.

I believe that itis unlikely Diarra will come to Milan. He has a preference for the Premiership. An alternative would be Sulley Ali Muntari. A prospect.

Muntari was or is with Udinese, right?

Gre-no-li, I thought about the attacking midfielder, but couldn't think of one... not just one that I like... but one who could be available and fit well... and I know someone will say Ballack... but I don't see that happening...

GRE-NO-LI

Well, great attacking midfielders are really becoming a rarity, above all available ones. Sneijder isn't exactly a strict attacking midfielder, but performs very good in that position, and as we seem to be linked with him... ;)

I think someone in between a Kaka' and a Sheva... like Aimar from Valencia, or a good passer like Beckham from RM... I am not saying sign THEM... I am just talking about the type of characteristic that would help a guy like Gila...

Just like Maldini never got paid for scoring goals, Gila is not expected to create opportunities... he's expected to push the ball inside the goal... even if he has to do it with his butt just a step from the goal line...

I don't agree with u here cuz since 2003 it seems like juventus have spent more than us.

juventus in: legrotalle (around 3.5 mill), appiah (not sure), emerson (14 mill pounds), ibrahimovic (12 mill euro), viera (14 mill pounds)

milan in: nesta (17 mill pounds), gila (17 mill pounds), janku(8 mill)

Well, first of all if someone needs things explained to him I can't think of a better candidate than you.
Second, if you add Stam to that list - 8.5.mil euros - and Kaka' - another 8.5 mil - things would more or less even out, so Juve are in fact NOT spending more than we do.
And third, just because sam_3 claims something, does that mean he is right? Guess not, but you probably never even considered that possibility for it doesn't fit your story, right?
And fourth, one word - Inter - and that's a fact, not a claim. Another couple of words - Barca, Chelski - when was the last time any of these won a CL? How abour Real? They spend like crazy too, look at them and tell me if you like what you see.

The figures Sam presented is clearly wrong in many case. They paid more for Ibrahimovic, but less than stated for Vieira and Emerson. I'm unsure about Gila, but Nesta was for 30M€ paid over three years. His post was simply a poor respresentation of what he said.

that's quite funny coming from a guy who lives in his own world and sees things that just don't exist - remember, "all those people, who say everything is OK" when absolutely no one has said that, no one out of hundreds of forum mebers. Good luck coming to terms with all those disturbing images in your head.
And it seems to me you know all too well the benefits of visiting a good psychiatrist. Something tells me that you could recommend a whole bunch of pretty good ones to people ... but for now refrain from doing that and just go on visiting them, see, things might work out for you ... eventually. cris is a good player, who would defintley help us out and would form a very good pairing with nesta in central defense. But if we are going to "rebuild" the defense we need a right back as well. And if were going to raid a team for talent it would be lyon. Reveriller is a very good right back who defends very well he would be the perfect right back, if not Oddo who is a product of our youth system. I think will end up with Oddo if anyone at right back, we were doing the same tactics with Jankulovski last year before he eventually came here. I can stress this enough we need a new presence in our midfield and Diarra of Milan would be a perfect fit, he is a star in the making.

kris here is the exact figure for viera = 13.5 million pounds, for emerson 14 million pounds, they also baught the rest of cameronesi's contract for 2 million pounds, and ibrahimovic was 10.8 million pounds. and not to mention how much they buaght the rest of chillini's contract (but it was a very small amount)

and as for nesta u were correct he was 21 million pounds ( abit more than i stated), and for kaka it was 6 million pounds, while janku the amount is undisclosed.

so the figures weren't way off they were the closest to my memory but here they are in exact figures from skysports. and the exact figures aren't way off except maybe for nesta. so maybe they will represent my idea better now.

You are a bit of a lunatic, you know that? So you are not a staunch supporter of "everythink is fine, nothing is wrong" pack? Well, let's see that: what kind of things Zlatanov always says when someone talks about new players? 'No no, that player is much young and inexperienced, he's not ready yet to succeed on prime level' (like Messi, Rooney or Schweinsteiger for instance?); 'no no, that player is much expensive' (oh, and Milan is a poor side that cannot afford huge sums of money!); 'no no, that player is unproved on Serie A' (well, Van Basten, Platini, Kaká, Sheva, etc, etc, etc, all of them were 'unproved' on that regard before coming to Italy...). Insomma: everytime someone talks about getting new players, Zlatonov comes with some kind of argument to be against it. And if he's against bringing new faces to Milan, one must logically conclude that everything with Milan is fine to him, isn't it?!?!?!?

1. So you are not a staunch supporter of "everythink is fine, nothing is wrong" pack?

2. 'No no, that player is much young and inexperienced, he's not ready yet to succeed on prime level' (like Messi, Rooney or Schweinsteiger for instance?);

3. 'no no, that player is much expensive' (oh, and Milan is a poor side that cannot afford huge sums of money!);

4. 'no no, that player is unproved on Serie A' (well, Van Basten, Platini, Kaká, Sheva, etc, etc, etc, all of them were 'unproved' on that regard before coming to Italy...).

1. A pack that only exist in your mind.

2. A valid concern all to often. That you mention possibly the three most highly rated youngsters doesn't change the fact that many young player bomb or can't stand the pressure. Of the three players you mentioned only one was transfered so I don't see your argument here. I can list hundreds of counterexamples of youths that failed or didn't turn out to be what was expected of them.

3. Valid if it is a overprice, I see no use in us paying a overprice unless the player is one to take our squad to another level (read: Ronaldinho).

4. The proven in serie A argument is maybe the hardest one of them all. Just like in general it is seen that Spanish players don't succed in Italy it can be that it was just the wrong Spanish players coming here. But I would say it is just as much changing team as changing league.

kris here is the exact figure for viera = 13.5 million pounds, for emerson 14 million pounds, they also baught the rest of cameronesi's contract for 2 million pounds, and ibrahimovic was 10.8 million pounds. and not to mention how much they buaght the rest of chillini's contract (but it was a very small amount)

The difference between you and me here is that I use my memory and you se a source which I find dubious. Emerson was for less than 15M€ (maybe as little as 11M€), which is less than what you stated. I checked old talk about it... The thing is that Brighi was in the deal which may put on that skewed figure you got. Let me add that you forgot more players, but my point is just to point out that you where wrong on several accounts.

Yeah, if I don't wanna see Milan flush 40 mil euros for an unproven player like Torres or play a 17 yo Vanden Borre at right back, then I am against Milan buying ANY OTHER player in general. Hence, I am part of the "everything is OK" pack. :rollani:
Yeaaah, your "logical" conclusion is bulletproof, can't argue with that, it just beats me hands down. Let me venture a guess - you would be the logic champ in a village with population of 1, right? Well, now that I gave it a second thought, I am not so sure anymore.
As for the rest, it makes as much sense as the part I quoted above, plus, I guess, kris flushed your pompous talk down the drain already, so I don't see any reason to add anything.
And that 1st point kris made, give it a bit more thought for it will give you a better idea who's the lunatic and who's not.

3. Valid if it is a overprice, I see no use in us paying a overprice unless the player is one to take our squad to another level (read: Ronaldinho).

But I'm not talking about buying overprice players, come on! But if you wanna get talented players you will need to pay for them, and calciomercato on the highest level is unfortunatelly nowadays a millionaire one. Cases like that envolving the purchase of Kaká are exceptions, 'cause almost ever you only great players paying large amounts of money.

I am gonna use the figures from my memo about those transfers and see if they, Juve, have really spent that much more than us over the past 3-4 years. The figures I remeber are pretty close to the ones you got, only problem is I am not sure if some of the older transfers were in euros or US $ but back then they were close to 1:1, so that shouldn't matter much.

Juve: Emerson (20 mil) + Viera (20 mil) + Cannavaro (4 mil) + Ibra (15 mil) + Legrotaglie (~4 mil) + Appiah (6-7 mil) + Camoranesi (loan made permanent for 4 mil) ~ 73-74 mil

Milan: Nesta (30 mil) + Gila (24 mil) + Stam (8.5 mil) + Kaka (8.5 mil) + Janku (8 mil) ~ 79 mil

So, as we can see both clubs spent more or less the same amount on transfers for the last 3-4 years. In fact, we could well be slightly ahead in that aspect but such "small" differences are hardly relevent in this case. Any comments?

With Diarra, the deal is that we wait for somebody else with balls to make an offer e.g. Chelsea, Man U or Juve which inflates his price by a multiple of 94, then we end up buying Cris who will be 30 next f****** year! Our policy is so predictable.

By the way, Galliani is approaching Lyon for both players for a reason. He knows that Cris is only good because he has the world's best DM protecting him: Diarra.

Milan's transfer policy is predictable??? That is a complete joke. If you believe everything you read in the papers, then yea sure...you can make sense of what is going to happen. However,,,the papers lie. They see Galliani in Madrid ****!ng his wife....they make a rummor that we are going to sign Raul.(just an example of how stuff works) They have to make money so they put sotries. Both...true and untrue. That is why they are called RUMMORS. We can talk all we want, but in the end....we will sign a player that probably we don't expect to. If anything.......Milan's transfer policy is the biggest mistery out of all clubs.

I just have to add this. A couple of weeks ago everyone was screaming at WHY GALLIANI ISNT BUYING OR APPROACHING A DEFENDER?? If you go back to those posts you will see what I said. Don't believe the press because how do you know what Galliani is doing? How do you know if he is approaching to sign someone or not. But people wanted to just scream and call Galliani stupid. What happened 2 weeks later???? It was out on the web that Milan had made an offer for Terlizzi but it was rejected. So there you go. Galliani wasn't sleeping but he was trying to do something. That's why again, don't believe the press nor Galliani. You never know what's going to happen. Are they lying or not??? You figure it out......but to call Galliani predictable is very wrong.

As someone previously wrote, the point is not the money the teams spend during the summer but how wisely they spend the money.
Today I read at Calciomercato.com that Milan made a 20 milion euros bid for Cris and the source was L' Equipe! I think Milan can hire better and younger players, like Chivu, with this sum.
Cris will not be the answers for our defensive problems. If we hire Diarra it'll be a totally different story...

I believe diarra is between 22-25, in my opinion he is better than essien simply a beast in the midfield, wins every ball, can take an opponents best player out of the game. Very good in the air. He is also a very underrated offensive player, dribbles well, shoots very well and is a decent passer. Whoever gets this player will be getting a better version of patrick viera, bold statement but thats the type of talent he is. Lyon is producing some very good players.

actually not even that - he's 24 right now and later this year would be 25. He is a great player, though, and a very, very underrated one at that with JP and Essien stealing all the headlines at Lyon, well until half a year ago, while Diarra was the silent motor of the whole midfield working behind closed doors.
Problem is Lyon seem unwilling to sell but I am guessing they are just playing hard to get in order to milk us for as much as possible for Diarra. With the right sum at the table, and it won't a small one, I am sure they will make a "sacrifice" in the name of the player's better future

Yeah, and rumours are getting stronger and stronger as far as Cris goes. not sure how true that was, but a French paper, I think, even quoted the sum Milan has offered for him to Lyon - 20 mil euros.
I like Cris a lot but he is gonna be 29 by the end of this season, if not even as we speak, and to pay any amount above 10-12 mil for a 29-30 yo player is insane business in my book, especially when one has in mind that a player like Gallas could be available for free, Chelski are rumoured to value Alex at ~10 mil, and probably even Chivu could be purchased for less than 20 mil. I am not mentioning Lugano or Barzagli, both of whom would cost us below 7-8 mil each.

I've just made a great plan,so if anyone knows Galliani in person, let him know.... :) It goes like this.... Bonera's contract expiers in 2007 so if they dont wanna loose him they beter sell him....5-8 mil would be enough. Oddo is on his way to Milan as it looks right now,and he would cost around 3 mil.so thats 10mil for 2 good italian players. A player like Cris is NOT such a must buy player as for example ALex is. Chivu will stay with Roma untill the end of his conrtact and then he will join us,Silvio will take care of it. Elections in Itali are in 8 weks ( i think so ), and if Berlusconi loses he'll be back to make some order in the club. Now....Diarra is a great plaer that reminds me of Emerson,a real class. Getting him would improve our squad significantly and make sedorf and pirlo work harded. So taking young players like Bonera, diarra and so on...and a few experienced like Oddo or some other would be a good mix for the future. Changes are needed is we want to overtake juventus that is really doing great job these days.Juve will now get only stronger if Capello stays, and we need a real backup by our president to create another champion Milan. lets make some real and smart moves this summer.

I've read everybody's comments on Cris with interest. His situation reminds me of the summer when we signed Nesta. Everybody thought that Cannavaro would arrive, but instead it was Nesta. I strongly believe that talk of Cris is a diversion from our real target... Alex. Braida has been travelling to Holland frequently. It makes sense now, because Galliani is seen as the transfer guru at Milan, so the media will focus on his activities in France, whilst the real businness is being conducted by Braida. Who knows what will really happen, but I know Milanistas want Alex instead of Cris.

On the other hand, Diarra is receiving a lot of attention. Many clubs admire his talent. I can picture Man Utd posting a bid, between 10-15 mil. Arsenal also need a player like him, who they may turn to if securing Yaya Toure is unsuccessful. Chelsea's interest seems superficial, as Lyon are only quoting them as potential suitors in order to inflate the transfer fee. In fact any player that Arsenal are linked to, you can be guaranteed that Chelsea's name will be mentioned as well. Plus I read somewhere that Diarra's preferred destination is the Premiership. In order to ensure that Milan are serious about Diarra, we'll need to offload one of Rino or Ambro.

That's a good point and I sure hope you are right. Unlike other members, I like Cris a lot but would want him join us only at the right price, and for a 29-30 yo player, 20 mil euros is hardly it.
As for Diarra, I read that ManU have made an offer for 18 mil euros to Lyon for him. Not sure where I read it though. Should we go for Diarra, he won't come cheap, that's for sure.

That is the proposed Utd bid in the summer, though it isnt strictly cash, it is £6m + Silvestre (who is supposedly worth around £5m ;) )

They will go higher if they need to though. £15m is probably a fair price, though Chelsea are rumoured to want him to replace Makelele and if they enter the bidding you can probably add £10m to that

Serginho calls in Cris

Source: Football Italia

Milan defender Serginho has urged his club to solve their defensive problems by signing Lyon stopper Cris.

The Italian giants are set to rejuvenate their ageing defence in the summer and the South American has been strongly linked.

Now Serginho has publicly given his backing to the proposed move by insisting his countryman is well suited to the Italian game.

“Cris has matured greatly over the last few years in Europe,” stated the left-back. “He is ready to play in such a competitive League as Serie A.”

The Italian giants are monitoring the player closely, a fact underlined when general director Ariedo Braida recently watched the man in action against Bordeaux.

Milan, who will lose Jaap Stam to Ajax in the summer, are said to be preparing a £12m bid – even if the player himself is remaining cool.

“Things change in football all of the time and I don’t know what will happen tomorrow,” said Cris.

“I am aware of the Milan rumours, but nobody has contacted me for the moment.

“For now, I’m very happy at Lyon and have adapted well here. I presently see no reason to move, but that may change in the future.”

I couldn´t agree more. Galiani & co always play the "wise game" for Milan. We are a rich club(Berlusconi), and any interest in a player make his price go up.

I was just reading(Alta Vista :D )this PSV forum, and an guy put this notice of a dutch periodical:

Basically they say that Peter Kenyon will be in Milan to discuss Alex situation w/ AC Milan...and you can also read(in Alex topic) that PSV fans know that Alex want to be a Milan player ;)

Actually, caciomercato reported at the end of last week, or beginning of this one, that P. Kenyon was seen at Milan's headquarters in Via Turatti and they also speculated/suggested that this concerning Alex, since if it was yet another attempt by Chelski to get Sheva, it would have been Roman, who would have persoanlly made the offer. Since this thread turned to discussing defensive optons for next season, I think we haven't mentioned one really, really good player - Gabriel Milito. Maybe the fact that he doesn't play for a team that's a title contender in Primera Division let alone a CL participant, didn't let him appear on Milan's radar when considering future defensive reinforcements, but I think he is someone, who shouldn't be overlooked so easily. I am not sure that even players like Alex, Lugano, barzagli, cris, etc., etc. are any better than Milito. Probably their main advantage is their CL experience, apart from Barzagli that is. The only defenders we have mentioned so far that I would consider a little better options than Milito are Chivu and Gallas, but that's mostly on paper.

Four starter class central defenders? :D That's just silly, not to forget Serginho for Cris, Cris is not a fullback. I would agree on a Henry for Inzaghi though if we could get Henry as cheap as its been talked about.

I said it before, I would get:
Gallas - To start with Nesta and/or be used as a defensive option on the sides.
Barzagli/Terlizzi - As a first backup to the central defenders.

The outstanding Mali international is believed to be a top target for Manchester United this summer after impressing against The Red Devils in the UEFA Champions League.

However, as he prepares for Lyon's clash with PSV Eindhoven, the 24-year-old has revealed Milan are also determined to snap him up.

"I can say nothing," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"But, yes, I know. It's true that maybe there is something and being aware that I am interesting for Milan really flatters me.

"But I must think of the match."

Diarra is under contract until 2009 but the French champions are likely to sell if they receive a massive offer for the former Vitesse Arnhem ace.

Milan have been watching Diarra and Lyon team-mate Cris closely and will be monitoring his performance against PSV on Tuesday.

My boy Diarra very flattered by the offer from Milan, take it man and come to Milan to experience winning on all fronts. Manchester united is going down the tubes. If him and Cris come to Milan ohhh baby will be nasty this year. As for the game against Bayern I expect a 1-0 or 2-1 victory fro bayern and hopefully Milan can turn it around and take the away goal to the San Siro

...and if you guys have a chance, watch this game. What a show by our future CB, Alex. :rone:
ESPN International will show this game today(later).
Some coments by UEFA.com:
41' Malouda (Lyon) delivers the corner. Carew continues to occupy the home defence. This time his persistence is matched only by the equally dogged Alex, who concedes the corner with a last-ditch block deep inside the home area.

53' Juninho is so close to threading it through for Carew, but once again the masterful Alex gets one foot to the pass. What a magnificent game the Brazilian defender is having.

72' Fred (Lyon) has an effort on goal. Having moments before been denied by the omnipresent Alex, Brazilian goalkeeper Gomes is tested by another of his compatriots from 20 metres - and this time saves smartly from the substitute's shot.
P.S. Take a look for the free kick in minute 16, amazing!!
16' Alex (PSV) hits the crossbar on free-kick. The Brazilian defender hits a pile-driver of a free-kick from 30 metres, which swerves all over the place before clipping the unwitting Coupet's crossbar.

Ronaldo might really head to the Blues, b/c what they lack is a World Class Striker and Ronaldo does fit the bill. Gerrard is someone whom they wanted all along and if Milan beated Liverpool last year, Gerrard is wearing the Blues uniform instead of Red. As for Cris, well, Chelsea do need a tough CB to play alongside Terry.

come to think of it, I think they are as opposite to one another as it gets for midfielders. I honestly can't think of many things they have in common starting from role and position on the field and ending with style and characteristics of their game.
I could see Diarra/Mascherano taking Pirlo's place and probably also Xabi Alonso would be great for that, but Sneijder - not so sure about it.

GavinMilan
23-02-2006, 23:05
Well, for starter I was referring to their physical shape. Both are very similar in height and size.

Sneijder is a bit more aggressive without the ball and shoot more often. Where as Pirlo let the game comes to him without the ball and look for pass.

My point is that, despite both being great, I really cannot see them on the pitch together with the current Milan Lineup. I know Gattuso and Seedorf are not tall either but both are bulky. I am just afraid that it will hurt the team at the end. Thats also why I would love Milan to get Ballack and Diarra, since both will give Milan some heights in mid field

Well now Juve is rumored to be moving for Diarra:

http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/feb24g.html

Juve prepare Diarra raid
Friday 24 February, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus are hot on the heels of Lyon’s French midfield enforcer Mahamadou Diarra, according to reports in Italy.

The 24-year-old has been an integral part of the French side’s domination of domestic football, helping guide the champions to four of their five recent titles.

He’s also orchestrated their rise to prominence on the European scene, where they reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League last season.

His tough tackling and energetic displays have earned the man known in his homeland as Djila numerous admirers, including Milan, as well as Premiership clubs Arsenal and Manchester United.

However, it now appears that Juve would like to lure the fleet-footed Mali international to the peninsula.

Diarra is seen as ideal cover for Emerson and Patrick Vieira in a position where Giuliano Giannichedda has failed to make an impact.

The rising star of French football will not come cheap, however, as he is contracted to Lyon until 2009 and would command a transfer fee of somewhere in the region of £10m.

Juventus are likely to face stiff competition for the combative central midfielder from Milan, who are said to be planning a double swoop that includes the French outfit’s Brazilian defender Cris.

Great, just what we need.

The good thing is that we will be able to guarantee him first team football...while they wont..

mrki
24-02-2006, 09:55
Paulsen is ours asd it looks right now, and it could easily mean Gattuso is out of here. So we will have the money for diarra. There are also reports that Milan is not satisfied with pirlo, whish I personally dont think its true. But now wecould have Paulsen as a backup player for Pirlo, diarra and seedorf(?), and kaka!

mk18
24-02-2006, 14:34
i doubt we would get both diarra and poulsen... getting one means either gattuso or ambro would leave or would have to adapt to another style of play (maybe ambro to become a defender.. u never know)

mrki
24-02-2006, 15:09

I doubt there is even the thinest slice of truth behind this Poulsen rumour. Given his history with Milan players and all the negative reactions and comments he PUBLICALLY got from half Milan players and Carlo and Galliani, I think too, I just don't see Milan go for him even if he was the best deal of the 21st century.
IMO, it's either just a smoke screen or, most probably, simply yet another silly rumour the media created so that them journalists don't get fired for not having a story to fill up the pages with.

Good point, mrki...I also think that Alex needs to improve in some areas. But, pace isn´t my big concern. I realy hope that Alex improve his first step. I remember PSV games(in CL) against Mônaco/Lyon last year, and three plays come to my mind...one sprint one a one against Saviola, another one against Wiltord. Even came from behind, Alex won these 2 sprints easily...and the most impressive was against Adebayor(sp?)in Mônaco game. In a Park flaw, Alex came from 15m(behind) and made the takle in the box, amazing. IMO, pace isn´t a concern. But, sure that to work in this does not hurt.;)
Said this, your concern is legitimate. But, I realy hope that in Milanello he works more in first step.

EDIT: I found this article(from UEFA.com) in V.M.K site, and they just talk about Alex pace...even being old, it´s good to see that Alex works in his pace:
Brazilians bolster rivals' rearguards
Monday, 4 April 2005

Deceptive paceConcerns that Alex did not have the speed to cope with Europe's top strikers have proved unfounded. "People also said that I didn't look that fast but I have quite an explosive sprint," he said. "I've been working on that with [PSV fitness coach] Luc van Agt because I want to improve all aspects of my game."

Galliani only says what Berlu tells him to say...so, what Galliani says is a direct product of what Berlu wants the media to be told.

Galliani has been working with Berlu long enough for him to even anticipate(though every now and again, there is a slip) what he wants to be relayed to the media.

In other words, the only difference between what Galliani says, and what Berlu says, is out of which mouth the words emerge.

What an ideal romance between the two most negative people in the forums ... it kind of reminds of a movie that came out a couple of months ago - "Brokeback Mountain". Haven't seen it but from what I hear it's pretty "descriptive" of this situation we are having here.
We are just barely beyond the middle of the current season, yet and are ready to crown Juve for next year only because of some unfounded rumours that they will buy a player who will most probably never leave England and if he does he would cost 35-40 mil euros and even more. And let me remind you that even if they "somehow" - attn. keyword here - they do get Gerrard, that means someone of the current squad will have to be dropped. my point is that by adding a new player you add but you also lose something and only the fututre will tell if that was a positive move at all 'cause all you suicidal football gurus have been doing so far is ASSUME that Gerrard will in fact make it big in Serie A and that's something no one, let alone an English player, can take for granted.
But then again, Milan ain't doing anything - well, how do you guys know that? You have any special connections with Braida and Galliani ... another brokeback mountain type of relationship may be? You just read a bunch of crappy papers and websites, fill your heads with even more BS than there was before in there, and think that this is everything there's to the story. How naive can people be, ha? Guess there is no limit to it really. Plus, we are barelly through the half of the current season - just because there are no official transfers now, does that mean there won't be any till the start of next season?
FFS, go put on a white shirt, get them blinds up, wipe up that black paint of them windows and make your lives a bit brighter. Cheers to that.

Yeah, yeah, don't forget your next appointment with the psychiatrist.
tried to, but the one you are visting was just too depressed and suicidal ... wonder why  ... and needed some help himself.
Oh, and for next time, try to come up with some other, more original, line 'cause the one you have been using for a while is kind of worn out. But hey, what am I doing - looking for originality from a guy, 99% of whose posts consist of "Galliani is crap, Milan is crap, Juve are great" and "let's see what all those everything-is-great people will say now" - sorry, I guess asked a bit too much from you, yet again.
Oh, and next time you try to be ground-breakingly smart and refer to that imaginary bunch of "everything with Milan is OK and no changes are necessary" people, why don't you prove your point for once and come up with some hard facts that such people do exist indeed ... in the real world, mind you ... and aren't simply a product of a sick mind ... and you say I am the one who needs a psychiatrist, ha, right.
Just to get you started, show us some posts from "those" people, show us some facts. Prove, that such things were indeed said by someone, anyone. Hope you like trying new things, for supporting your statement with facts would be quite a new thing for you.
The only way to put those "brividi" to rest is come up with some facts. Until then, however, read my two previous posts again, this time more carefully, and most of all, don't stop running. ;)

I would rather be that than a guy, who flashes machine guns as his avatar and calls people, who are different than him - homos, fagots, etc. That was just a joke but you reacted just like a real hater would. And if you felt such insult and your view of gays is limited to seeing them as "faggots or homos", I just wonder if you cherish the same hatred for people with different skin colour, cultural background, etc, etc.
But then again, I would rather be a miserable scoundrel if being a nice and tolerant (ha, what a joke on the background of what you said a couple of posts back) person, which is what you wanna pass for, means calling others faggots, homos, etc.

Still, why did you focus on that joke alone, why didn't you say anything about the rest of those posts? You find it difficult to argue without calling names?
What about the part where I asked you to show me and everyone else PROOF for the existance of "those" people, you know, the ones that "think everything is great". I know you aren't used to supporting your words with any hard evidence but maybe NOW is a good moment to start. Think about it - now you have the chance to prove to everyone that you were right and "those" people do exist. OK, roll up those sleevs and get to work to dig up those facts and while doing it, think of the reward - everyone else but you will be proven wrong. That should keep you going pretty nicely.

Right, I've had to edit many posts and also delete one altogether!

You guys WILL stop this ridiculous argument or action that nobody wants will be taken. If you wish to resolve this, agree to disagree or solve it through PMs.

This argument ends HERE!! This thread is to discuss Cris and Diarra potentially coming to Milan, not for "children" to bicker and ruin the content of the forums!

As I say, we will see it all in the end. Juve won it last year, and will win it this ywear ( dont foor yourself, juve cant loose 10 points ). 6 years - 5 scudettos. Do we need to be stronger? some people say not drastically, I say yes. are we working on it? - yes. Are we doing ENOUGH? once again you need to think on that question. What is enough to stop Juve?

Don't you think Sneijder would be just perfect for that role?

And one more time I agree with you: we must be stronger than Juve!

GRE-NO-LI, I wachted at least 10 game of Sneidjer(in Ajax an Holand NT games) and he really not impress me...I know that you and other guys are high in him, and he´s young. But, to be true, Sneidjer was just above average in thats games. Maybe is why for 2 years Ajax is a mess(and this influences the game of any player, vide Trabelsi(sp?)) but even in Orange he was only above average. But, if he came to Milan, I hope that I´m wrong ;)
..an dutch player that realy impress me is kujt(sp?) of Feynnord. This kid I want to see in Milan.

Well... I like Sneijder's football very much, and I guess his passing skills, general awareness and attacking leanings could do wonders for us, 'cause Seedorf clearly past his prime. As for de Kuijt, I share the same opinion of you. :)

I think Sneijders phisical constitucion is not good for serie a. I would like a plyer like camoraseni, gerrard or something like that. if we are about to change seedorf, wich I would like us to do.

Many people have posted their so called answers and there is probably 1000 of them on this forum, but at the end of the day milan are going to sign who ever they sign and and complaining about how we want x or y isnt going to make a bit of difference.

The most important player we need is Cris...because Maldini & Costacurta will leave maybe next year and Stam as we know is going to Ajax...

Diarra is also a very good player, very physicall which is what Milan lacks in midfield...

We might also get Oddo because Cafu will leave and he will retire his career with Sao Paolo

That is obvious, no need to even talk about that. Berlusconi and Galliani will do it their usual way. But we can still talk about our wishes and plans. isnt that the reason we are here?

I am not sure, but Galliani did mention earlier today in some news channel that Lyon will not sell their star players cheap, mainly cuz they are now one of the top teams in Europe, there is no reason for their players to leave. He also that he wishes Milan can sign Cris and Diarra. I got this from a topic off the forum in the arabic forum www.acmilanclub.com

Yes, this is the time that agents throw everything in the media...""All I know is that Real Madrid need a top class defensive midfielder. "
So...every normal person know that Real Madrid needs a top defensive mid, since Makelele leave the club. This agent just use Real name to put Diarra price in the sky.

Lyon defender Cris has told Milan that he would welcome a San Siro move on the eve of the Champions League clash between the two sides.

The Brazilian, whose full name is Cristiano Marques Gomes, has been linked with the Rossoneri for some time and he’s now admitted that he would have no objection to such a switch.

“I still have three years left on my Lyon contract, but I can’t hide my love for Milan,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.

“I like that Rossoneri shirt, it fascinates me as does the fact that the club have won six European Cups, they are full of tradition and stars.

Very intresting this "plea"...hmmm...wish he hadnt made it so public, I would rather he had said it to Kaka or Dida before, after or during the game..this way, Lyon wont get pi**ed off and over-inflate his price...

Anyway, the cat is out of the bag..so lets see what develops...its wierd..if he has a stellar performance against us, that may persuade us to buy him..if he messes up...then that decreases the likelyhood that we would go after him...but a poor performance from either himself, or his fellow CB could put us into the semi-finals!

Damned if you do, damned if you dont...a wonderful example of a "Catch 22"...:D

totally agree. he is damn good and i am also unimpressed with Cris and after his bicycle kick on inzaghi, i hope he stay far far away from san siro. we don't need a thug like him.

Agree on Cacapa. Didnt realise he is a Brazilian though. But his performance against Milan was excellent. Kept Sheva and Kaka quiet for most of the time throughout the game.

And Cris didnt perform as well as what most posters claim he was. After what he did to Inzaghi, i also hope he doesnt come to Milan.

Real Madrid are sending Bronzetti on a mission to persuade Diarra to join them !!!!! It's on calciomercato and in 'AS' the Spanish paper. Milan can't let Diarra slip, we need him and we must prove it to the player. At this moment i don't think he wants a move to madrid, but if they let Bronzetti at him, he'll do anything to persuade him ... we must act fast !

mrki
06-04-2006, 09:09
Yes, send Braida to Lyon and finish this off. Diarra looked in really good relations with our players, and looked impressed with san siro atmosphere. He wants milan, I can see it ... :)

We will not get him simply because we are full in midfield and dont need any replacements. It also seems like we already got Poulsen, but I dont think we will be getting Diarra or Sneijder. I see us getting a couple of defenders, Oddo and maybe Barzagli.

mrki, I had my eyes on Diarra throughout the game and I didnt notice anything about the relations he had with the players and certainly i didnt notice that he was impressed by the San Siro..i hope you're right though

Galliani has come out and said that Diarra is too expensive for us ... while i know he's famous for his bluffs and double bluffs, i really do hope he's lying and is trying to get him. I love and loathe the transfer season at the same time, i love seeing who we are linked with but loathe all this denial ... it drives you mad :stress:

nefremo
07-04-2006, 23:54
I don't think that Galliani is lying. Lyon will ask a lot of money for Diarra(their hottest property at the moment). He didn't say that we won't try though. Just that it is expensive. :D He is definetly lying though because he said that we won't buy anyone. haha Complete crap. Simic and Stam are definetly leaving. Costacurta signed another year contract, but there is no way the club will be confident with him, while nothing has been said about Cafu. Which means we will be short of players and definetly SHOP! Which means..Galliani is lying. You can't believe him untill the summer window closes.

i think we need someone to replace seedorf.my number one choice is van der vaart.he is young and a world class potential.also i would like that we buy kerlon.he can be substitute to sheva and kaka.and for defence we should go for chivu and right back-darijo srna perhaps.he is a cafu style player.no need for a goalie

In terms of Diarra, it's being qouted on Ceefax/Teletext (British news channels) that Diarra's agent has said that Diarra wants to stay at Lyon for one more season, especially after he signed a 4 year contract last season.

So maybe no one will end up with him after all ??

Do any one realize that our current midfield is not good in the air? Pirlo, Gatuso, Seedorf are less than 1.8 metter high:
Gatuso 1.77 m x 77 kg
Pirlo 1.77 m x 68 kg
Seedorf 1.76 m x 76 kg

Latest reports from Calciomercato say that Man Utd have agreed a 30 million euro deal with Lyon for Diarra, but Diarra is waiting for Madrid. Then it says Milan along with Fiorentina and Inter are also interested.

On calciomercato there are snippets of news about Cris and Reveillere. Both seem to want to engineer a move to Milan. I'll be honest and say i didn't read the article about Cris as he doesn't interest me. However, it could be that Reveillere will move to one of the Milan clubs and i hope it'll be us !

There seems to be something odd about the Oddo deal, i mean why is it taking so long ? It surely can't be that difficult to conclude a deal for him. The likes of Adriano, Diarra or any player of that calibre i'd understand, but surely a deal for a 30 yr old right-back shouldn't be drawn out this long.

If the price is right, i must admit that i hope we get the French man, i feel he has similar qualities to Oddo and age is on his side.

I can't see how Man Utd will have enough money to buy Carrick & Diarra. Reports are that they are still looking at Duscher, the Deportivo guy. If that's the case then i'd say they're still looking at alternatives for Diarra because of his price.

I just wish we'd get in there and sort this particular transfer out one way or the other.

the 12m chelsea practically gave them for free over the jon obi mikel fiasco will probably help. A team like man u has at least a 15m-20m per season transfer budget, plus this 12m, plus the money they'll be expecting from the sale of RVN. Milan and Inter target Christian Poulsen has signed for Sevilla on Wednesday, the Spanish club have confirmed.

Both Milan giants were keen on the Danish midfielder seeing as he was available on a free transfer from Schalke 04.

Although a switch to the Rossoneri seemed a real possibility, the battling midfielder has moved to La Liga instead.

Poulsen is well known in Italy as the player who Francesco Totti spat at during Italy’s ill-fated Euro 2004 campaign.

He also hit the headlines last season after his rough treatment on Milan star Kaka during a Champions League encounter.

Poulsen :r14: , who has won 31 caps for Denmark, impressed Sevilla during last season’s UEFA Cup semi-final ties against them.

Lyon coach Gerard Houllier does not believes midfielder Mahamadou Diarra will be joining Manchester United this summer.

The Mali star is one player United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is looking at to fill the void left by Roy Keane.

But Houllier said: "I don't think Diarra will be going to United. We hope Mahamadou will stay but, while there has been interest expressed in him, I don't see him going to the Premiership."

Real Madrid have also been linked with Diarra.
