_____

It seems that Milan, Inter and Juve are tracking the footsteps of Kerlon, an outstanding brazilian youngster capable of playing with the same class as an attacking midfielder or as a forward. The 3 great sides are evaluating the conditions that Cruzeiro, the club which owns the player, will establish in order to sell Kerlon.

Well... if Milan really wants another brazilian forward, Kerlon is to me a whole lot better option than Rafael Sobis.

I saw a video of him. He was incredible! In the match he had a lot of players in front, so it wasn't possible to dribble past normally. So he flicked the ball on to his head and started walking by them, dribbling with his head!!
He had some major ankle injury last year and had to pull out of the under 20 world cup and was out for some months. Hopefully hes back.

we will not see the kid join a team like Milan for at least a couple of years, if not more... but if he's a good prospect, better to keep our eyes open...

hopefully he can see action in tournaments like Copa Libertadores... some teams in the regional tournaments of Brazil are not even close to teams like Sao Paulo, Corinthians, Palmeiras, etc.

Oh, that match was really incredible, something almost unbelivable! And that was only one of his sensational performances, the guy is really an artist. :)

If he is that good and we can get him ,why not?!!! Messi is playing superbly, kaka did great when he came in, maybe this guy can start by being sub and learning from players in Milannelo, or even being loaned to clubs like Lecce or Sampdoria to gain some experience. If he is that good, take him.

That's exactly the way I think, Mrki: we must get some classy youngsters to prepare our future, and even reshape the present.

You are dead right, he's a real gem of player, a terrific forward. But some people think that we did not deserve young top class players, that we have to be happy with crappy oldtimers on free transfers...

all milan fans read something about this young talent

Kerlon aiming to emulate two Rons

Ronaldo, Ronaldinho Gaucho and Adriano did not become overnight stars for the Brazilian national team.

All of them first represented their country at Under-17 level, and the experience was invaluable as they made their way in senior football.

It would be wonderful if the current star of Brazil's Under-17 side could go on to make a similar impact.

Kerlon of Cruzeiro was top scorer in the South American Under-17 Championship, which came to a close in Venezuela on Sunday.

He curled home some wonderful free-kicks, outpaced the defence to lob past the keeper and scored with some typical penalty area poachers' finishes.

But it is not just his eight goals in Venezuela which will be remembered. The more lasting memories will surely come from his new invention - the seal dribble.

Kerlon flicks the ball in the air and runs with it like it is tied to his forehead.

He does it quite systematically, a few times in every game, and his close control with his head and overall co-ordination are so outstanding that he can perform the feat at pace or while changing direction.

It may sound like a circus trick, but the seal dribble is no laughing matter for the opposition. It is a move which is very difficult to stop by legal means.

On the evidence of the South American Under-17 Championship, on the majority of occasions either Kerlon manages to get past the defender or he wins a foul. If he chooses the right time to unleash the move then it is a highly effective weapon.

Boosted by Kerlon's goals, Brazil were the champions - but only just

It is truly inspirational to find a young player with the creative genius to come up with such a move.

The game is all the richer for improvised and acrobatic inventions such as the backheel, the bicycle kick and the Cruyff turn, and maybe Kerlon's seal dribble can take its place among them.

As football looks forward in the search for new ways to win, the game also looks back to honour the heroes of the past - a point also made very clear in the South American Under-17 Championships.

Boosted by Kerlon's goals, Brazil were the champions - but only just.

With the last kick of the championship Uruguay's Acosta blasted a free kick against the Brazilian bar. Two inches lower and the title would have belonged to his country.

Brazil's Ronaldinho (left) and Ronaldo
Ronaldinho (left) and Ronaldo are leading the way for Kerlo

Uruguay's outstanding player was six-goal striker Elias Figueroa, who showed strength, an excellent left foot and the rare gift of having time in the penalty area. His name is already familiar to football fans.

The first Elias Figueroa was one of the game's truly great defenders - good enough to represent Chile from the World Cups of 1966 to 1982.

He remains an idol in Brazil, where he starred for Internacional, and in Uruguay, where he played for Peņarol.

The father of Uruguay's current Under-17 striker is a Peņarol fan who happens to share the same surname as 'Don' Elias. In tribute to the great Chilean he gave his son the name of Elias Figueroa - and by the ironies of football he is turning into a proficient scorer of goals rather than a master of the arts of preventing them.

Kerlon's seal dribble and Elias Figueroa the second, stars of the future and heroes of the past were all in evidence in Venezuela at the South American Under-17 Championship.

Kerlon can be to Milan what Messi is to Barcelona, or Rooney to Man U. Of course he can also fail to deliver the promise, but I guess we shall take the risk.

Damn, I really want him just by reading the article lol! I think its because we dont have a 17-18 yr old star for the future.. He also seems like a better bet than Sobis. I want to see his seal dribble.

I can't stand anymore to see Ronaldinho and Messi performing wonderfully well and think we can have an equally powerful pair formed by Kaká and Agüero or Kaká and Kerlon...

mk18
17-02-2006, 10:07
yes but messi suits barca's formation... in ours... where would u put aguero or kerlon??? all 4 attacking players are performing wonderfully (sheva, gila, kaka and seedorf) ... for barca, guilys performances werent enough

GRE-NO-LI
17-02-2006, 12:44
Well, tatical formations comes and goes with different coaches, they are not eternal.

And I disagree with you about Seedorf. Nowadays he's being uninspired, slow and even aloof, I don't think he's at all the same player he was in the past. Seedorf is to me the weak link on our ofensive quartet.

I beg to differ GRE-NO-LI...while he hasnt been at his scintillating best, IMO he is doing much better than last season for instance.

He is however, not as consistent as he was when we just signed him...a fact I blame on him cutting his dreadlocks...(as a Jamaican and quasi rastafarian, I would have that opinion:D )

Also, he is aging, so he can be replaced by a younger, attack-minded player, but I would think Sneijder would be more suitable, as he has better defensive qualities than the young Brazilian starlet probably has.

Well, maybe he's like a contemporary Samson hehehe, without his dreadlock's he looses strengh! :rock3:

I can't deny that: Kerlon really don't have defensive skills at all.

And BTW: Sneijder is great, I would like very much to see him in Milan.

that is because kerlon is forward not a midfielder.he would be a perfect addition to milan.he doesnt have be a first team player he can start as a substitute and earn his place slowly.and about sneijder i think that we should definetly go for him-excelent player. i would love that milan buy some of these players :kerlon, sneijder, ballack, diarra, mascherano, kranjcar, felipe, chivu, gonzalo, barzagli ,oddo

IMO, Kerlon will play as atacking mid in the future. He has all the tools...and he perform better playing in Kaká role.
If I was Galiani, I will purchase Karlon, no doubt. But he´s a 17yr Kid, so we would have that bring him easy...

The thing is, youngsters could make or break. Galli just want to spend his money wisely. Having done that, it eliminates mistakes through transfer. Do Javi, Jose Mari ring any bells?

Having said that, it also takes away Milan from signing great young players like Ronaldino, Riquelme and others
