Did anyone witness the Alan Shearer goal number 201? It's a Newcastle club record. It's a great moment for the great man. It made me think that Shearer had be around for a long time and had been banging in the goals throughout his career. I look back at the memories I had of Shearer, and it remind me what a great striker he is. Simply Awesome. He may not be the striker he used to be but he deserved this honour richly. On his prime, he was the best striker in england and europe. He only need 1 chance to smash the ball into the goal. You always knew he's going to score when there's a chance. One of the most complete striker you will ever find.
It just remind you of Batitusta who stayed with Fiorentine through hell and back. But Batigol eventually move to Roma and collect his Scudetto. They are very much alike. Both is powerful finisher.
After Blackburn he could have join a few big club but choose Newcastle instead and he shown his loyalty throughout his career there. He's an example to all pro footballer that glamour club isn't everything. If he joined Man Utd at that time, he could have easily add a few more premiership tittle and a couple of CL. Just imagine if he had join Man U, Man U will be almost unstopable.
Anyway, this will be his last season with 201 goals and counting. For all the time at Newcastle, he's still premiership all time greatest striker. All this come with an injury prone career and he definately could do a lot better if he played for a bigger club. Although not considered as one of the top forward now in England, I'm sure liverpool don't mind having him around.
Another great player is ending his playing days. But his smashing goals will always be remember. And I always think Shearer had an under achieving career for all his talent he had. IMO, compare to the to striker today such RVN, Owen, Crespo, Shearer is a class above during his prime. Maybe Henry is more skillful but Super Al is definately very effective player even up to today when his pace has deserted. He's not only newcastle legend but the premiership. It would be nice to see him lift a silverware for his last season.
