seeing as the milan back four are gettin on a bit, cafu, maldini injured long term, stam leaving, and nesta needs a rest every now and then...
what young fresh but still talented back four should they chase for at the end of the season :v103:
they dont need a whole back four... they need 2 or 3 players that are agile and versatile... i think we should go for alex, oddo and gallas...
besides, there are already hundreds of threads on this, mods please merge them..

there are no defenders that are a must.. we are fine as we are, we just need a RB to replace Stam.. is Darijo Srna the guy from Shakhtar Donetsk? If yes, he's one hell of a player..
if i had to chose a CB defender from all the ones we've been linked with, i'll go for Chivu, Gallas or Alex.
i think two defenders are enough Galas or Alex for CB and Oddo for RB would be more then enough.
We'll have 4 CB in Nesta, Kaladze, Maldini and Galas/Alex and that's enough
2 RB: Oddo and Cafu and we have a lot of players that can play as LB: Serginho, Kaladze, Maldini and Jankulovsky
I would really like to see this defence but we'll see and i don't think we need to buy 3 defenders, better we use that money to refresh our midfield :)

At the beginning of next season our defence will probably look like this
(with the first row being starters and the second row benchers);
Serginho---Kaladze---Nesta--------Cafu
Favalli-----Maldini----Costacurta---Simic
I say sell Kaladze and Simic - and bring in Chivu, Barzagli and Oddo.
With Costacurta being a chilling veteran :cool: , it would be;
Serginho---Chivu----Nesta-----Oddo
Favalli-----Maldini---Barzagli----Cafu
Barzagli and Oddo should easily be done by Milan, Chivu is trickier. But it is time Milan showed the world again who we are.
We bought Nesta in 2002, now Chivu for 2006!
He is the ONLY player that can replace Maldini in the center to form a deadly duo like Paolo and Nesta were in 02/03 and 03/04.
Why should get rid of our best central defensive partnership??
Kaladze and Nesta are great together. IMO Chivu is not good enough to displace them.
We need to get in Gallas, Oddo, & either Barzagli, Lugano, or Alex.
With Stam going, and Maldini, Billy, Cafu at the end of their careers, we need fresh blood, other than Favalli. Ridiculous signing if it happens.

now as moggi is screwed and gonna get screwed further, i suggest we should snatch cannavaro, zambrotta and nedved in exchange for stopping this investigation. along with that i wud also suggest galliani to stop all their signings so that we can sign some of their targets. we have galliani! hahahahahaha! poor delle empty will get empty further. :firedev: and ofcourse those signings wud be for free. i am sure moggi wudn't mind this small sacrifice

I'd only take Zambrotta of that bunch. I Fing hate Nedved, always diving, truely represents Juve, same with Cannavaro.

I just think that Gallas isn't all that reliable.
He is prone to making costly mistakes, although is excellent most of the time.
That's why Kaladze should stay with Nesta. And what happened to the rumours of us signing Felipe of Udinese? Anyways I think the same of him as I do of Gallas, except Gallas has exceptional values in the attack. Sign him but he should be a sub for Kaladze or play left back (which he doesn't want to --that's why he's leaving Chelsea)
Also Gallas IS more a player that plays on the left so we still don't have a true sub for Nesta except for Simic/Costacurta.

I think for this you mean the left side of central defence, if so you are mistaken as he can play both sides. He plays as a right sided cb when he is paired with John Terry and vice versa when paired with Carvalho.
If we got Gallas, it would hopefully be as a cb to pair with Nesta, that's his best position, not as a full-back. Yes he can easily play there but that's not what we need, we have Serginho/Jankulovski and hopefully Oddo/Cafu to fill these positions.
On a side note, i can't believe Simic signed a new contract, i mean what does he think will change ?? :googly:

dont get me wrong im not exactly overjoyed with milan signing favalli! but he wont play much. marzoratti is right footed while favallli is left footed

Marzoratti needs some Serie A experience before become regular in the first team. Hope he can develop into a fine defender, but I am not one of his fans.
On the other hand, some time ago Arsenal was interested in a young defender called Piazza. Wenger has a fantastic talent to discover young footballers (Cole, Cesc, Henry etc.) and I think this fact really bodes well for Piazza's future.

Back four without San Paolo:
Perea--Nesta--Kaladze--Chivu
Cafu---Simic--???????---Favalli
Without Maldini, Serginho move to midfield, his natural position, and Jankulovsly goes to Roma for Chivu.
But this summer will be much more complicated in this specific departament because the players want a clear situation regarding their future before the WC 2006. And everybody will have to work faster than ever.

Piazza is actually an attacking midfielder too. Surely when we are 3 up in some matches or against small teams Lino can play. He was excellent vs Palmero last year.

I think Perea is able to play at Center, sweeper and right back (where he played for Boca I think).
Actually, from what I know, he is better as a right back than in the center.

Yes, not a typical Cafu, wouldn't you say? But he could be a nice fix in case Nesta has to miss out on some games and to replace Stam playing right back (but doesn't quite have the same heading level as Stamynho).
