There are alot of good players closer to home that maybe Milan should look at first. I thought it would be a good idea if members with more knowledge of the league could tell us who's hot and who's not ... and ultimately who Milan should consider buying.

So, in no particular order;

Zaccardo, Palermo, right-back
Grosso, Palermo, left-back
Barzagli, Palermo, centre-back,
Barone, Palermo, midfielder,
Makinwa, Palermo, striker

Foggia, Ascoli, midfielder (is he already ours ?)

Esposito, Cagliari, right-winger,
Suazo, Cagliari, striker,
Canini, Cagliari, centre-back

Semiloi, Chievo, midfielder

Pozzi, Empoli, striker (he's ours too isn't he ?)
Tavano, Empoli, striker

Gamberini, Fiorentina, defender,
Pasqual, Fiorentina, left-back
Bojinov, Fiorentina, striker

Vucinic, Lecce, striker
Cassetti, Lecce, midfielder/full-back

Di Natale, Udinese, striker
Iaquinta, Udinese, striker
Felipe, Udinese, centre-back

Simplicico, Parma, midfielder,

There are others who are more well known and i'm sure there are players who regular watchers of Serie A will be able to add to this list. I'm mainly interested in Tavano and Suazo and the kind of characteristics they both have, if they're are fast, tall, have quick feet etc etc ... But any info on these or other good Serie A players is welcome.

Maybe Trelizzi from Palermo, a very good player

From those mentioned, I think Barzagli, Zaccardo, Grosso, Tavano, Suazo, Vucinic, Di Natale, Simplicio and Pasqual deserve a special mention. Can't say that I am very keen on any of the rest. Ifr I have to go with Milan-quality players, however, I think only Barzagli, Vucinic, Pasqual and Suazo fit that description.

Here are some other interesting players I can think of, that doesn't necessarily mean that I cosider all of them Milan-quality players i.e. players who can make a difference in a team shooting at a Serie A and CL double, year after year:

Not sure if we should include Roma players - Chivu, Mancini, De Rossi - but still, here they are.
I personally like Mark Bresciano from Parma, a very versatile, inventive, and experienced attacking midfielder. Scores a lot of goals too.
Emilliano Bonazolli from Samp (on loan from Reggina, I think) - very, very good player. he isn't exactly a youngster - 27 yo - but could become something special in an environment like Milan's ... or could just give in to pressure and fail to impress, but I guess that's always a risk with players who have never played for really big clubs. He got injured and missed the second half of the season but till then he was really impressive for Samp.
Aimo Diana from Samp is also a nice player, an alternative to Mancini but I persoanlly prefer the Roma player ... but we also have Foggia, so ...
Sulley Muntari and Marco Motta from Udinese - two young players with TONS of potential, should be considered very, very seriously, IMO
Mariano Gonzalez from Palermo - a Mancini type of player, very inventive and quick in the feet.
Massimo Oddo and Valon Behrami from Lazio - the first one hardly needs intro, as for the other guy he is one young player with potential to become a player worthy of playing for a club like Milan.
A personal favourite of mine - Christiano Zanetti from Inter - but he is Juve bound already. Yet another great potential wasted in Inter's chaos but still he is 28, i think, and has still a lot to give. plus he was a free agent.

I am sure there are others but these are the ones of the top of my head, right now.
