Giornata 37

Milan makes a short trip to Parma, to play on Sunday (3pm Italia).

Juventus plays at Delle Empty against Palermo

Maldini, Ambrosini, Stam and Nesta our out injured... Seedorf is banned.

We must play with the best players we have, so I think:

Dida
Cafu, Costacurta, Kaladze, Serginho
Gattuso, Pirlo/Vogel, Jankulovsky, Kaka'
Shevchenko, Gilardino

IMO Gilardino should play simply because it is his return to the Tardini, where he saved that team and scored so many goals...

I somewhere readed that Seedorf ban is reduced to only one game.Is that true?

Milan_Mad
02-05-2006, 14:36
I think Seedorf just got off with a one match ban so he will be available, Also i think Carlo will start with Pips with Shev

Dida
Cafu, Costacurta, Kaladze, Serginho
Seedorf, Pirlo, Gattuso
Kaka
Inzaghi Shevchenko

Anyone know the status of Nesta?

Think we will one this one 1-nil, it will be tight

[IMO Gilardino should play simply because it is his return to the Tardini, where he saved that team and scored so many goals...

I couldnt agree with you more, except that I think he will come off the bench...Pippo is too hot to be benched, and with Sheva´s unfortunate outburst at being subbed during the Livorno match still resonating...and intrest from Chelsea unabated, I think the Ukraine intl will start.

I hope Rui gets a run as well...as per usual. :rone:

Parma really have nothing to play for but pride, but "pride cometh before the fall" as the saying goes, so hopefully, we will win the game without too much of a tussle....they are playing at home though, so we cannot expect that they will be pushovers.

I look forward to the game....and to see Juve drop some points to a tough Palermo.

FORZA MIIIIIIIIIIIILAN!!!

Reggina’s Stadio Granillo ban for Juve game

Reggina’s Stadio Granillo has been banned for one match due to crowd trouble, so the final round against Juventus will be on neutral turf.

The fiery Derby dello Stretto against Messina turned ugly after the final whistle on Sunday, as a fan ran on to the pitch and struck opposition goalkeeper Marco Storari.

If an appeal is rejected, then the last match of the season – against League leaders Juventus – must be played on neutral turf. Reggina have also been handed a £3,000 fine for the incident.

The Disciplinary Commission has suspended Lecce striker Babu for two games, effectively ending his campaign...

Seeing the calendar, i have to make a pesimistic observation. Juve plays with Reggina last week and we play with Roma. Forget about Roma, we can beat them, but what about Juve? Reggina has nothing to lose, no relegation problems, so they wont say no to a cuple of extra bucks for this season.
On the other hand, i can see the optimistic part too. We paly with Parma now, we have to beat them, no other chance. This is not a ridiculous thing, as it isnt Palermo beating Juve at home. If we beat Parma and Juve loses or draws to Palermo, we'll be playing with Roma with 100% motivation, and there is not posible better motivation right now, than winning an scudetto to Juve defeating Roma. As for Juve, they should be nervious about not having winning the scudetto after tha last match, and if Reggina can close the midfield, there wont be any problem in they having a tie.
All this just speaking in theory, but if things follow their course, Milan should continue on the winning path, and Juve should continue losing.
I believe in miracles, my team Almagro got promoted to first division twice in 4 years having almost no chances in last 2 matches, when nobody payed a cent for us.
I hope in 2 weeks we are the ones who laugh the last.

well, let me guess - for sure Moggi had nothing to do with all this and the ref was "selected" by pure chance and it's nothing but chance that he happens to be an icon among Juve fans ;).
Anyway, we should be able to beat Parma also because they have nothing to fight for ... apart from us being the much better team.

Paparesta is not a bad referee, he could take over De Santis as Italy's number 1...
I don't know exactly how old he is, but he's surely not even close to 40

Zlat, I dont know about us being a "much better team" than Parma..on paper maybe, but we are just a single goal better than them at home if I remember correctly..

I recall us beating them narrowly 3-2 in the San Siro.....so I expect a tough match in the Tardini...

Realistically though, we should win this game, but, with Paparesta in charge, will we be allowed to?

And to rahul.acm re:yea moggi won't goof around now. he is busted! ...match fixing is usually done waaaaay in advance..so he probably already has this match fixed...one thing is for sure, if I was fixing matches, the second to last, and the last games of the season are must fixes for me, especially if the title race gets tight.

After Moggi being widely published that he is the person who fixed almost all games in Serie A then I don't think that the last 2 games will be as if Moggi wants. Don't think the Ref who will on pitch dare to follow what Moggi asked ...even if it were "pre-fixed" vefore the publication...
I even think that the Refs would try to "clean up" themself by doing the opposite way that Moggi wanted (if it were pre-fixed)

So...the way to scudetto is totally depend on our own result...Can we beat Parma in their home? YES !!!! Can we beat Roma at San Siro..?? YES !!!!

I am just letting the frustration out ... as for the funny business, well if what's currently all over the press in Italy doesn't qualify as "funny business" I don't know what does ;). And I have nothing against Juve winning, I just have a lot against them doing so NOT on the pitch.
btw, we won 2-3 as Parma scored a goal in the 88th min or so. The team played well today, Kaka missed a bunch of sitters after some great work by Gila. Hope Sheva is OK and taking him out was more of a precaution rather anyhting else.
Cafu was very, very good today - back to his best just in time for yet another WC title, I guess. If this guy manages to stay healthy next year, keeping him at Milan would be one of our best "transfers" for next season.

How badly was Sheva's injuried? Without him, Ukraine will never make it even out of the group in the WC. He is not only a good striker, he is a leader and a symbol of our team. :pr115:

he coame off after a knee-to-knee knock - didn't look anyhting serious really - with Couto. After Couto's "intervention", Sheva tumbled on the ground and maybe when he was falling he hurt his knee, not sure if it was as a direct result of the knock itself or the tumbling. Anyway, he did seem to feel pain but he came off the field all by himself and left for the dressing rooms again without any assistance, so I am guessing it won't be a serious injury that would threathen his taking part in the WC for Ukraine. Actually, I won't be surprised to see him ready for next game vs Roma although that would be a bit pushing it, I think.

Oh, btw, it's worth seeing 2 of Milan's goals today - the second one for 0-2 was a great swift conter between Kaka, Gila and Cafu, but the one by Seedorf for 1-3 was definitely one of the goals of the season in Serie A: a thunderous and fierce strike from 30m out right in the upper left corner of the Parma goal, De Lucia (parma's GK) simply didn't stand a chance ... and that was from at least 30m out, way to go Clarence :)

entertaining match today great football parma at times included. kaka was very good unlucky not to score. milan's second goal was very good a great kaka pass which gila (who got an standing ovation from the parma faithful when he came on) let it run through his legs to leave cafu in space.

Seedorfs 3rd 30 yards top corner enough said!

I thought the marking for both their goals was terrible ... schoolboy stuff ... Cafu was nowhere near close enough to marking Corradi for the first goal and Nesta was equally distant to Corradi for the second ... neither were goal-side of their man either, which is basic stuff.

Silly errors like that really bug me.

i disagree slightly al. Surely if you're a cb one of your jobs is to know where the striker is and you can't know that if you're 5 yards in front of him. If Nesta was behind Corradi or even just closer to him, there would have been no way for Corradi to be picked out ... or even if he was found, Nesta would have been in a much better position to make a challenge. I guess he just switched off for a moment.

we have to be honest with Gila he played well today but unlucky to score loock to the cafu's goal even if he dosnt score he help others to score as with cafu today he let the ball through hes lags to do that u need to concetrate 100% he has done few assist this session as like against udinese atractiv assist to sheva, seedorf ....
anyway we have to be proud with him as his first session in a big club such milan is aslo we have to be proud with all of our guys, sheva, inzaghi ,kaka,seedorf....

ok, I only saw the final 10 minutes of the game + Stoppage time, but with what I saw, I was disappointed in how the finished out the game. I heard the commentators keep saying how Seedorf scored some amazing goal, which is always good and stuff, but Nesta gave up a good opportunity on a turn and shoot from Corradi, then on the 2nd goal Nesta completely fell asleep and forgot to Mark Corradi and he scored on a nice header. Glad they got the win of course, but they have to play better

I have nasty feeling that Juve will take scudetto though we will win the Roma game.

The Sheva injury reminds me of Mikailichenko injury in a friendly game prior to WC 1990 which saw the player out then the CCCP (USSR) could not get through group stage (lost against Rumania and Agentina). I hope my feeling on Sheva situation is wrong.

MILAN - Andriy Shevchenko, who was forced off the pitch after just eight minutes at Parma yesterday, underwent an x-ray on his left knee this morning and the diagnosis is a sprain and stretching of the medial collateral ligament . The striker will not need an operation and is expected to be fit to play in 25 days.

A good win, against a strong Parma team who played well in spurts, and we allowed two careless goals, one I blame Cafu for, the other Nesta just went to sleep.

I thought we recovered well from the morale reducing injury to Sheva, and Kaka played well, looking like the Brazilian wonderkid that we all know and love...the rest he was afforded seems to have worked for the youngster.

We could have won by an even more comfortable margin, but the defense had its moments of mental breakdown, resulting in the scoreline looking closer than the acutal gameplay demanded.

Such mental lapses may well cost us the game vs Roma, who are fighting for a UCL spot, thought the Viola seem to have the advantege.

Juve have all but sown the scudetto on their kits for next season, with even a draw granting them the title.

We are paying for lost points at this juncture, but such is life...

Lord_Tawreser...please...we dont need this reminder...and I wonder why you have decided to take Nesta to task...he has played reasonably, if not exceptionally well this season for us this term, and remains one of the world´s best central defenders...are you indicating that you wish him elsewhere?

Some might think so...I for one wont even go there...as he is for me, one of the worlds best, if not the best centre back.

Anyone, and everyone is capable of making a mistake...and though I didnt mention it, Morfeo should never have gotten the time he had to place the ball on Corradi´s forehead...that could hardly be Nesta´s fault...Gattuso, Clarence, Pirlo, Marek..where were they? Why didnt they close down the diminutive Italian? They didnt, Corradi drifted wide, lost Nesta, and they scored. We were leading 1-3 at the time..big deal.

In the semi final: Gattuso should have won the ball from Ronaldinho, and/or fouled him, to prevent him from making a pass that, with Guily´s pace, would have caught any central defensive pairing unawares.

Please, relax, and take it easy. There is always next season.

I probably shouldn't but I'm going to tell a joke now. So.... somebody fouls Ronnie somewhere around 20 m from the goal. Just down the middle.
The opposing team lines up a wall and everyone is facing Ronnie, protecting thier jewels, except for this one player, he is facing the goal. Somebody asks this player to turn around, but he says: "Are you out of your mind, I'd never miss seing such a great goal" :)

I didn't mean to do anything like that. I respect and appritiate Nesta alot. Now that I have seen the goal Parma scored it reminded me of a lot of goals Milan had conceeded this season. When something happens regulary it's a problem. Barca? If we were marking Stam-Ronaldinho, Nesta-Eto, Kaladze-Guily then it's Kaladzes fault. A beginers guide to football, I guess: FIND SOMEONE TO MARK. Sorry to say it really. Or something like Kaladze saying: "Look, Nesta, Guilly, stop him!" might have been nice.

The general problem I think is that we use zonal marking, which is a good thing, but it sometimes leaves gaps. Specifically, the two CBs are left with a dillema as to who to mark, the striker or the advancing midfielder. And sometimes they end up marking empty space. This is where our left back and right back need to come in and mark the striker. Sometimes they are not there and this is when we conceed goals. A midfielder coming into space, short distance or long doesn't matter, CB doesn't know who to mark and no cover. Bad thing. It's because we don't have a true defensive midfielder in Pirlo. I do think that our defense is amazing in it having conceeded so few goals, and most of which from dead ball situations. (needs improovement :p155: )

:d55: A Lord_Tawres (R) totally-not-arogant tactial analysis :) :zany: :5nana:
