There has been some speculation about Milan and RvN in the recent past, and with all the turmoil surrounding the player at Old Trafford right now, I think this would be an excellent opportunity to bring him to Milan.
It definitely seems like he has played his last game for Man Utd, and they'll probably sell him rather cheap, so I think he could be a great signing for us this summer.
He's a good target man that is for sure, but he has no pace. I don't see any point in getting him as he offers nothing different to Inzaghi or Gilardino. I think both may not be as good as Ruud right now, Inzaghi will naturally decline in skill as the years pass and Gilardino still has things to learn but will eventually be as good as him if not better.
So no, i don't think we need a striker like him when we have 2 similar players already at the club.

I agree with Jim, although I am not sure that RvN, as of late, has been good enough for a team like Milan. Considering late form, I think we already have two better players for the role of a target man. I have never liked RvN as a person but have to admit that until 1-2 seasons ago, he was probably the deadliest/most prolific striker in Europe. I am not, however, convinced that getting him now would be getting the RvN of those times. IMO, his best days are well behind him and now is hardly the time for him to move to the most defensive league. he'd better off in Spain or just stay in the EPL.

i have no doubt that ruud will re emerge at milan. we have a special dutch connection and i'm sure he will fit in well and co ordinate very well with all our strikers ans kaka. he wants to prove a point that he still has many years to come and milan wud just be thr right place for him. hope that nasty american glazer leaves him for a gud price. when i look at the amazing goals he has scored for mu and psv it really feels like there cannot be any better place for him other than milan. also he doen't have a hot temperament so i think our mr eggo shud not hesitate spending on him

we dont need him, or crespo. we need a striker that can move more. two target man is enough.

yeah he is more of a finisher, without any assists or passes.
Agree with all of you who dont think we need him. he is past his prime, plays in the same postion as gila and inzaghi, and would most certainly not accept too much time on the bench!! i think it is about time we go for a youngster, i dont know just take a chance on a young, up and coming striker--start him in the coppa italia games, put him on the bench for serie a games and bring him on as a sub to turn games around.

IF I was forced to sign a 4th striker instead of Amoroso, I would bring in Ciccio Tavano. We dont need RvN at all, Henry would be available at a higher place but is certainly better than him.
i agree with the majority, first, strikers isnt our priority and even if we are to get one, i would rather go for tavano or henry

100% agree.
i agree with the majority we dont need him he's too similar to gila and pippo, dont think he is good enough for milan anyway he cant score from outside the box!
I'm not sure. But we are obviously looking at a striker, Adriano, Eto'o, Henry and Torres have all been linked. They are big players, I am sceptical about some (eto'o for example) but it defiently seems we want to add a striker. RVN could be the man, but we should really look at each of these players, and despite most of them going for fairly reasonable prices (henry, rvn, adriano and probably Torres are all want-aways) we shouldn't just pick up the cheapest guy we can get. RVN i think means Sheva will be playing as the 2nd striker again, when he's our target man he scores tons. Personally I think Torres is the right buy but a sheva - henry pairing could, over the next 2 or 3 seasons, potentially be the most devestating partnership ever, that's not an overstatement.

Does seem as though he has played his last game for Utd, the reports of trouble with ronaldo are not just media hype and Fergie seems content to rely on Rooney and Saha as a first choice pairing (which has undoubtedly made Utd are far more fluid side) with Rossi, and Ole and Smith as support next season.
As for Milan signing him, before Gilardino joined i would have said definately but now it would be a pointless move. Ruud would want first team football and his reaction to losing his place at Utd was disruptive. Gilardino and Ruud are very similar players but one is 5 years younger, we wouldnt be greatly improving the squad but we would be potentially disrupting it. I still think Ruud is the best finisher in the game, even this season he has smashed in 21 goals in 28 starts in the league, but he hasnt looked as sharp this year, in fact he never really got over the injury that kept him out of most of last season to be honest.

i disagree... out of all the strikers you mentioned, i think our best buy would have to be adriano... just siding him next to shevchenko in rossonero colours would make opposition piss their pants... but he would cost alot more than henry or RVN would... despite that, he is much younger and he is very well proven in italy and in the CL

Ahhh... Adriano. I would love to see him in the Milan shirt. He hasn't been at Inter for that long, so it's not like we'd be buying one of their "symbols" or whatever. I read today that every time he and Cafu meet, Cafu tells him that he should come to Milan.
we don`t need him ..
and im sure that if he comes to MILAN is going to do thi " :w200: "

If we didnt have Pippo and Gila then there would be room for a player like him. But even if there was room Id prefer luca toni or Kuyt. Nistelroy is good, but hes not at all what we need. Unless of course we want to become the new Real Madrid.

same here. Everytime I watch him, i can't help it but wonder why are so many people awed by him ... maybe it's just that many people read all the hype about him in the papers and just follow on all that. With the exception of a couple of games this season, actually the last 2-3 seasons, games usually vs Barca, I have failed to see the player almost everyone touts so much.

I live in Manchester and have been to a few Man Utd games and watch their games every week on TV and I have to say RVN is still a very good player! This season he has been suffering from a lack of confidence, and also a lack of adequate chances because the midfield has been very poor. The only reason Man Utd finished 2nd was because of two reasons:
1. They got knocked out of Champions League and FA Cup and were able to concentrate on the league.
2. Wayne Rooney.
His stats for this season are 47 Apps in all comps, 8 as sub, and has scored 24 goals. Not bad for someone considered to be having an average season. However I must state if you are looking to buy him as a replacement for Sheva then stop right now!
Although RVN tries extremely hard outside the box to get the ball from the opposition he is not the type of player to dribble towards defenders and scare them. Give him crosses in the box and he will guarantee you goals. When Beckham left for Real Madrid, RVN has not been the same because there is no one providing consistant, accurate crosses for him and he has had to mainly rely on scraps. He still a great player and it's rumoured Man Utd will accept offers around £8 Million.
We need a "Secondo punta", not another first striker.

Hey, Mr. Bungle, I'm hearing now Carry Stress In The Jaw, what a fantastic song!!!
Well, regarding RVN, I'm against signing him, not because of his techincal qualities, which are great, but mainly due to his age. I simply HATE short-term solutions, and if I'm against Favalli's signing, it will be contraditory salute RVN's purchase.
todays paper:
AC Milan are contemplating a move for Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy as a replacement for Chelsea-bound Andriy Shevchenko.
Van Nistelrooy is reported to have fallen out with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, while Shevchenko is about to begin talks with Chelsea.
"Van Nistelrooy is the man we want," an AC Milan spokesman is quoted as saying in The Sun newspaper.
"He is one of the few players in the world who could replace Sheva."
He is currently the third most prolific scorer in European Cup/UEFA Champions League together with Eusébio, with 47 goals, only behind Alfredo di Stefano, Raúl, and current leader Andriy Shevchenko.
My only worry is that Pippo, Gila and RVN are all to similar.
I think we should get Adriano or Tevez. They are both different from Inzaghi and Gilardino. They are hardworking and they can play outside the penalty box. RVN is a good finisher but we need a forward. RVN should go to Spurs where they need a real finisher.
My only worry is that Pippo, Gila and RVN are all to similar.
Obviously I have no idea what Milan has in mind, but I was thinking that the reported 8.4 million pounds really is a fantastic buy for such a great goalscorer. Remember, he was still scoring goals at a prolific rate before falling out of favor with Fergie. He had 21 last year in only 35 matches and 28 starts. And as recently as 2005 he was top scorer in the Champions League. Could it be possible that Milan might buy RVN and sell Pippo, who will be 33 but might still fetch a good price because of his form down the stretch? I don't know, but it might make some sense. And even though RVN will be 30, such a move would make the squad a bit younger. Then they could bring in a younger, more creative striker -- someone like Tevez, or maybe more realistically David Suazo -- to fill out the attacking force. Of course, as I said, it's all just an idea from my own mind, but I think it might make some sense.

I'm hearing more rumours that Milan will sign RVN, and considering his price tag I'm not at all suprised. I hope we do sign him, but not as a replacement for Sheva, because firstly no one can replace Sheva, secondly these two players are totally different.
If we sell Amoruso or Inzaghi, buy RVN and another striker, my choice would be Torres, then we would be lethal up front.
Gilardino/Torres/RVN/Inzaghi sounds great too me. Gilardino will be our main striker, with his partner rotating between RVN and Torres as they may find it difficult in Serie A at the beginning. Inzaghi can play as back-up, and cover any injuries.

Gilardino and Inzaghi is first strikers. Amoroso is a second striker or "seconda punta" like they call them in Italy. Sheva could play as both a first and second striker.
Cassano, Zlatan, Del Piero and Raul are classic seconda puntas. Henry is probably the best seconda punta playing at this point. Although Arsenal does seldom use a first striker. :D Tevez would be the best bet for us IMO. Barring him I would take Ronaldo.
NO WAY !!!! First of all he's another type then Sheva (although we can play another system then) but 2ndly i don't think him and Gilardino would fit together. And third, i'mn not a RVNR fan. I don't think he's a superstar striker although he scored a lot for ManU.

As talented as I think Torres is, I don't want us to buy him. Spanish players usually don't cope very well with Italian football, and I don't think Torres would be an exception to this "rule."
Unfortunately, the scenario I imagine is that we'll get Drogba as part of the Sheva deal. I don't like it, but I can definitely see it happening.
The good news is that if Drogba joins, we'll have a lot of money to spend on other parts of the team, which might not be such a bad thing.

You guys who want Torres have obviously only seen a video clip of him. A video clip does not show you consistency of a player which is the most important thing if you ask me. I think if I can make a clip of Simic that would make him look better than Cafu, but we all know that is not true.
Since we have been linked with Torres (2 years ago), I have been trying to kept an eye on him and watched him in La Liga. This kid can play good, but problem is, he plays one good game out of 10. I'd really prefer Podolski or Tevez over him. I know someone will say Torres is young and his consistency will grow when he joins Milan and matures, but trust me, I dont think so. Even when he puts in a good performance, he is not great.
We do not need Torres when there is players like Antonio Cassano who is having problems finding a place in Real, or players like Carlos Tevez. Ofcourse none of them will be able to do what Sheva does, but I think Cassano is the only one that will make us forget Sheva faster.

Holland coach Marco van Basten has reportedly advised Ruud van Nistelrooy to join Serie A giants Milan.
The Manchester United star has fallen out with manager Sir Alex Ferguson and could leave Old Trafford this summer.

well, i know we should take a striker who will certainly replace at least more than 3 quaters of Sheva... and we should not do experiments... and waiting what happened....but i was pretty excited when there were rumors that RVN is going to Milan in 99 or 00...cause from what ive seen in dutch league, he really reminded me of Marco Van Basten...then he ended up in Manchester... and i was kinda sad...because Bierhoff and Big George were leaving at the time and we were desperately looking for Shevas partner (Comandini, Moreno, José Mari, Simone..no success) until Pippo days...
Well i havent seen much of RVN this year cause Man U are weak and lame and he wasnt playing that much as well... But all 5 seasons before he really impressed me and i must say...hes really Marco Van Basten type... Powerfull headers, excellent volley shots, very solid in the are and very good on one to one...and also not that slow... hes really not a second striker type but hes also not this Pippo type and i guess it might work...
I know i used to like Vieri a lot and i was dreaming of the day when he comes to Milan and than it was a big dissapointment so as Rivaldo... so i would be careful...but still think why not to give a chance to Ruud... i dunno why but i still have some feeling that he can grow up in new Marco in our jersey....
Definately the fans will be pushing him to go that way and he will get new motivation...
well, it all depends on our managment..and we will see...

I think RVN will be a good addition for Milan + we wont overpay for him since Sir Alex wants him gone from Old Trafford.
Suazo is not Milan quality imo. He shouldnt even be mentioned at the same sentence with Shevchenko, Van Nisterloy, Ronaldo etc.
Have you seen Suazo play? If not, you shouldn't judge players simply on the familiarity of their name. Suazo would be a fine player for Milan. He would bring many of the same qualities that George Weah brought to the team during the years between Marco van Basten and Andriy Shevchenko. If you have seen him play, with all due respect, I really must question your judgement. He is a far more complete player than Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is a great scorer -- maybe the best finisher in the world -- but not very creative. Suazo has great pace and strength, his dribbling and passing are outstanding, and he plays with an enormous heart! He is also a proven goalscorer in Serie A and has the country in his heart as he has even married a Sardinian girl. He is a much better fit for Milan than RVN, who is too similar to Gilardino and Pippo. While it would be great to have him, he's not really needed. And Suazo is in far better physical condition and far more motivated than Ronaldo. Whether or not he is a "name" who can be "mentioned in the same sentence" as the others is of no consequence. The question is: would he fill a need and make Milan a better team? The answer to that, I believe, is yes. It's not about name. It's about the team. Obviously he will not be Sheva. But who is? We can't expect anyone that good because the number of strikers who are can be counted on one hand and most are not available. But Suazo is one of the best realistic options out there.

Rick i think you forget we are talking about Milan. The team with the most C.L. titles behind Real Madrid, the team whose owner is the 25th wealthiest person in the world according to Forbes and you are taking about "realistic options"??? Realistic options for Milan and Berlusconi should be the the top-class players.
Suazo is 27 years old, he hasnt done anything memorable to qualify as the replacement of Shevchenko and you are comparing him to George Weah after just having one good year with Cagliari? Cagliari??? The "new Weah"????
Suazo is a proven scorer with just a good year in Serie A? Then what can u say for RVN with 150 goals in 200 matches in England and with 46 goals in 55 UEFA Champions League matches(!)..
Milan's priorities imo should be one of (in that order) Adriano, RVN, Tevez, Torres, Ibrahimovic. Suazo might be a great player, might be the "new Weah" (even though i doubt it). but when u lose Shevchenko you have to replace him with a top class player and make a statement that Milan is aiming for the top.

Realistic options for Milan and Berlusconi should be the the top-class players.
RVN's evalution apart, that's one of the wisest things I've ever read here.
Admit it, there is no one out there who can be on the same-class as Sheva or Henry.
And you know what, this guy leaves Milan because of English. One word: retarded.

That 'englisg learning' excuse is the joke of the century already.
Why try and get someone similar to Sheva? He's a rare one that can do it all. There are NO players like him out in the market. SO...
Instead, we can get a proven, experienced, in-box finisher at a cut-rate price and then surround him with a creative schemer fielded alongside Kaka.
Remember people, we have other needs. Unless there's the strong possibility of netting a player like Steven Gerrard, we can't splash too much on one man.
Suazo is definitely quality, but this year was his breakthrough year. Let's see how well he does now that the spotlight is shining directly on him.
It's either Tevez or Suazo for me. I don't see anyone else who can perform like Sheva.

yeah for me too :5ok: tevez or suazo nowone else
Just read that Marco van Basten was giving a strong advice to RVN during their training session towards the World Cup.
Marco told RVN to go to Milan as the best club for him to shine....rather than being "indirectly" kicked out by Sir Alex......
Let us see how good RVN would play in the WC before we decide whether he's a good choice to replacing Sheva or not...... :1whis:
We already have 2 players who share the same characteristics as RVN. They are both players who work well in the box. We need someone who can work hard and not just wait in the box. This player needs to be fast, powerful and technically gifted. Tevez and Suazo fit the bill.

RVN is too old. He's a good player and I'll be deeply sadn'd to see him play at a lower level club...heck, the man will come to Milan. RUUD RUUD RUUD RUUD RUUD :)
I'm 50 50 on him, I don't think he should be our priority but I wont mind if he comes. He's a risk, just like Vieri was and I don't know if we can afford a risk now. But having him as an alternative to Pippo is a good thing. But then again he wouldn't play mutch. Nah, just don't sign him.

I still stick with Torres, he's the next Sheva.

Torres could hardly be called the next Sheva as at Torres' age, the Ukrainian scored more goals in the CL alone than Torres does now for a whole season in Primera.
Instead of getting a striker for Sheva..I read on my local newspaper that Milan is almost positive to get Joann Gourcouff...a midfielder or winger from Rennes, France???....
I don't know how true this is but according to the news Gourcouff had been to Milanello and agree to sign his contract with Milan.
Does someone know how good is this player as I knew nothing about him.
This is the news I got :
Galliani: Ready to take backwards step --> What does he mean??Gourcuff, the small Zidane set for MilanCorriere dello Sport
Look at Capello
He drinks with Real. What will he say to Juve today?
Milan chase Ibra with Sheva money --> Is this true??
Juve, Baggio idea
Robi is at the club’s disposal: He could become Vice-President
Milan chase Gerard and Suazo --> How many new players to be brought in to Milanello?? I got very confused now.....
Van Nistelrooy To Replace Toni At Fiorentina? The Viola consider the Dutch player as the only possible substitute for the Italian top-scorer.

You guys should look at this statistics before ur final judgement
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruud_Van_Nistelrooy
mainly 21 goals this season when he was mostly sitting on the bench seems very impressive to me!
but we need a sheva replacement not a poacher we already have inzaghi and gila for that
Signing Nistelroy would be like signing Buffon and Cassius. We need someone who can complement Gilardino and Inzaghi not do what they do, but worse.

We dont need RVN guys. We dont necessarily need a striker that scored 40 goals every season, but simply one that does the same things that Sheva does and has the same characteristics (for example: Cassano, Adriano, Henry, Ronaldo). RVN would definitely be a step backwards. Man U are asking for 30m euro's!!!! LOL!!!

A little bit of current position of our projected strikers by Dr. Galliani
''Drogba and Van Nistelrooy are two main attackers so they can't substitute Shevchenko. I said no about Ronaldo as it's not possible to win over a Real player while the real dream was Henry who decided to stay at Arsenal. I tried after the Champions League when I saw the tears of his fans. I want him because of what he does as a player, but he's not available anymore."
Im so happy Galliani said that!!
Hopefully this thread can now be put to rest.

GET REAL GUYS
Van Nillsteroy will get your goals, goals, goals !.
He did played for probably the most offensive and inventive support force ever in Beckham, Giggs, Scholes, keane. Van basten in this company would have been as good as pele.
Van nilsteroy is in fact a more decisive finisher than van basten. Here is the best finishers in world football.
1) Gerd muller 2) Eusebio 3) Alan Shearer 4) Ronaldo 5) Romario 6) Van nilsteroy 7)Papin 8) puskas 9) Jimmy Greaves 10) Denis Law
12) Van Basten
The worst ? try Obufemi Martin, Andy Cole, Kieran Dyer, Jon Macken etc, etc.
Your joking right? Shearer Number 3! Van nistelrooy 6! What a ridicolous list. Only Muiller, Ronaldo, Romario, & Eusebio are ok on that list, along with MVB. The rest aren't in the same league for finishing.
Van Basten had Gullit, Ancelotti, Rijkaard & Colombo plus others. All better than anyone that played with Van Nistelrooy in United.

You can add Donadoni, Savicevic and Boban to that list too.

Actually Shearer is as good a finisher as i've ever seen, he lost out to those other players in terms of all round skill certainly but on finishing alone he could score as well as any of them, whether it be poaching, headers, long range, freekicks, powered or placed. Ruud wasnt as good as he only scored from close range, though his effectiveness there is clear for all, it only takes a quick glance at his scoring record.
As for discounting Law, Greaves and Puskas so easily, i am quite shocked as those guys were all legendary finishers
Maybe its because Greaves 'failed' at Milan, he only, managed 9 goals in 12 games before homesickness made him move back to England....can you imagine what he could have done if he had been settled?!
And Puskas? he didnt play in Sertie A which seems to be held against him by some, but just look at his scoring record. He was scoring at nearly a goal a game for Madrid well into his late 30's!

maybe im biased (well actually there's no maybe about it ;) ) but i for one wouldnt put any of those guys ahead of Giggsy on the left wing.
From the players I've seen, concerning the fact im only 22, I'll make this list, but not by the numbers....
Romario, Šuker, Shearer ( the legend!), Sheva, Ronaldo, Trezeguet
Stezagud

I'd pretty much agree with that, adding Ian Rush, Ruud and Batigol, i never doubted any of them once they got a chance.
I only remember the tail end of Rush's career but do remember he scored a crucial goal to deny Utd the title in 92 :(
