According to channel4.com we're pondering a move for Liverpool's Steven Gerrard. I don't know about you guys, but I definitely think he would be a great signing. But he would be very expensive...

This is near impossible i dont think he will move from liverpool, but he will definetly be great. Is he married? Maybe his wife wants to move to italy :)

:))))))))))
hahaha. Yeah, I also doubt it will happen, Liverpool refuse all offers for him and he is on an insanely large contract.
still, I look forward to needling the scouser who started the "milan are on a downward spiral" thread on the bbc forums with this.
let's introduce steven to ciccolina ;)

lol, if we do that he will come running to Milan :D
not likely, but - we sold Sheva so... When you sell a player like Shevchenko youcan pay something for a player. Lets hope.
Yeah but liverpool will ask sumthing lke 80 mils for him...Wee have that money, but do u realy belive that berlu will that much?
hottie, would you marry steven ;) :D to lure him here :D
it's just a rumor, don't believe the hype :1old:

Well il marry him not only for milan cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :delol:
Pfff, never will he come... ;)
And I'm not quite sure whether he's worthy to spend all our money on... I'd rather have a younger player, who can identify with Milan, than a pure Liverpool scouser, who'd only come for the challenge...
Morevoer, I think we can find even better quality for a lower price...
But anyway, since he won't come, let's not bother... :)
M
Haha. Liverpool went through a Steven Gerrard soap opera the last two summers, especially last year. And that one ended with him signing a big new contract and pledging his love to the club forever. Now he's being linked all over the place. No way in hell this is happening. And even if there was, Liverpool would want way too much for him considering he's such a hero there and has a long-term contract. I don't know where they come up with these things! :5nana:
If we could get our hands on Gerrard then we should go for it cause he is a amazing player.

Thats a very big if....

Remember he had almost agreed a transfer to Chelsea last summer, but pulled out right before it was completed. I think he didn't want to play for another english team. But who knows, maybe he would be interested in playing for a club outside England? In that case Milan should be interested.
Oddo, Gallas, Gerrard and Torres sounds perfectly fine for me... :5schal: ;)

...and may I add to myself - a dream!
Berlusconi? :v408:
Nope...Liverpool is Gerrard - vice versa. Never gonna happen.
We should concentrate on getting Diarra,Gallas, and Sheva's replacement

This will never happen, but my ideal Milan have Gerard in the midfield.
Buffon
Perea-Nesta-Gallas-Serginho
Pirlo-Gerrard-Seedorf
Kaká
Drogba-Gila
Stezagud

Gerrard is a near impossibility, Liverpool would be able to ask for a lot more than Chelsea will pay for Sheva because Gerrard is still approaching his prime, signed on a long contract and has no inclination to leave.
If/when Sheva goes we'll have rebuilding to do both in defence and up front so it really makes no sense to me for us to blow £50m on a midfielder! As rick said, Gerrard just gets linked to all the major clubs every summer, its an easy story for the press, they just pick a major European club and link Gerrard to them, knowing it carries just enough plausability because he came close to leaving before....

There is no chance Gerrard will be leaving Liverpool after he signed a new contract with them last summer. Milan is not even thinking about this transfer anyway, as there are more important things to think about like Sheva's replacement! Just looks like another story to fill the back pages.
i would love for him to join us
that would make our midfield the strongest
Gatuso Pirlo Gerrard

Yeah, and Lazio is Nesta - vice versa...
Or wait? What happened? :beach:
Yeah, but if I remember well (which I'm not sure about... :D), Lazio was not quite in good form by that time... While Liverpool is fully reconstructing, and getting closer and closer to the top of England...

We might be linked to Gerrard only to decrease the price of Diarra. Gerrard coming to Milan has the same chance of saying Ronaldinho will come to Milan. It will not happen, and please guys, in the next few weeks we will be linked with ALOT of players to replace Sheva and Rui, dont start creating new topics for every player and think we have already signed them.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH BUT WE WONT GET ANY OF THEM
Well yeah... I'm not so sure either. It was just a dream, really. But sometimes dreams come true, don't they? :smileani:
Gerrard is currently THE BEST solution for our cM, but we can get Diarra who is also great for less money and remember, we now need Rui's AND Sheva's replacements. WE have a lot of buying to do this year.
Yes...sometimes dream do come true...but not if regarding Gerrard. Benitez will do whatever it takes to keep their symbol, true scouser captain @ Anfield
Liverpool is reshaping offcourse....they're heading for their new golden era, and Stevie very much aware of it
Impossibile!!

well....anything can happen in football. Not only in a match but also to player...It seems like no one say that sheva will leave last few month even chelsea already put in bet...and now...
Gerard can also leave Liverpool too if he want even he got contact...There wil no big surprise even though Gerard,Emerson, Buffon,Zambrotta or even ronaldinho is here in Milan .......A big club like milan can do that if want?/ chelsea can buy sheva but why cant Milan???
Yes wee can but milan is not a big spender ...

We broke the bank for Rui and Inzaghi a few seasons ago.....and Sheva and Gilardino were not cheap signings...We just shop arround and try and get Value for money..... Gazzetta dello sport has the story on its page... so there might be some background to the story....

After the faliure of luring Henry and Eto'o from their resp. clubs to Milan, Galliani and Braida are focussing on Gerrard. Gerrard would be available for 25 mn Euros plus any player. After Gerrard, Milan will be focussing on Diarra (40 mn Euros). If both of them are unavailable than Milan will go for Emerson once Juve gets relegated to B.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Liverpool is in need of alot of money right now. In spite of receiving fundings from outside sources for their proposed stadium they are still short of a big sum. Although Gerrard would be able to fetch liverpool alot of money, his departure will hamper their midfield alot. Considering their current problem, it would be likely that liverpool sell either Alonso or Luis Garcia from their midfield. If we are able to get any one from the latter ones it will be a great addition to our 'at-par' midfield.
Entertaining the thought that Liverpool would sell Gerrard, that report's estimation of how much Liverpool would sell Gerrard for is way off the mark, there is no way they'd sell him for 25 million euros, it would be more like 40 - 50. They turned down a bid of £35 million for him last year, so why would they settle for less. He's nearing the peak of his talents, so why would they go for a lower figure ??
Liverpool are also close to securing some new investment and they received over £40 million from televised premiership matches, yes they have debts but they don't need to sell Gerrard.
Alonso is a great player and can pass the ball as good as anyone around, however i don't think he'd want to go to Italy. I'm also not sure who you mean by luis gonzales rahul. Do you mean Luis Garcia or Mark Gonzales ? We wouldn't want Garcia as he is so infuriating, rare moments of genius combined with lots of moments of mediocrity. Gonzales on the other hand has the potential to be a very exciting left winger, but they wouldn't sell him before he's even kicked a ball at Anfield.
If we were spending 25 million, why not 15 for Baptista and 10 for Suazo/Gallas ?
rahul.acm
31-05-2006, 07:47
Real, if they sell Baptista, will become even more foolish than before. Baptista is a physical player and attacks well. But if he has to come in then Janku chances of playing look bleak because Janku has a similar role in the midfield (left). Ofcourse amongst the 2 of them, Baptista stands out because of his age and he is lot more stronger than Janku.
Anyway Jim, will you go mad if gerrard comes in? Liverpool isn't a that big of a club which is faithfull towards its players.

Gerrard? Outstanding! Diarra? Great! Emerson? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! If we can't pick Gerrard or Diarra, we should go for players like De Rossi, Mascherano or Gago, NOT that boar named Emerson.
Omg omg omg plzzz gerrard 2 milan:D plzzzzzzzzz

Ahhhh....the smell of the silly season is in the air!! People putting up ludicrous threads, about transfer rumors that will never in a million years come to fruition...like Sheva moving to Chel..eh? Oh.
diara and gerrard in the same time this is just the way to please the sheva deal.
plus gallas and cresspo were beating any team there is.
Well Rahul i would obviously like Gerrard to stay at Liverpool. However, if he were to move i would hope it would be to Milan, then i can still support him :D
But you have to say that this Gerrard story has about as much chance of coming true as us selling Kaka.

The board must show it's muscles, that is very very important, even on a symbolical level.
Kaka aint leaving but if gerrard for kaka, then gerrard as we say here go follow yar mother.
We get the point that you don't like Gerrard Milany, enough already.
Plus no one is saying we have to choose between Kaka and Gerrard, where did you get that idea from ?

The important thing is what Gerrard want. Does he want to continue in his club (most likely) or try it out in a prestige club abroad (less likely)? If we know the answer to that question then the negotiation will be easier.

If Gerrard wanted to leave, he would have gone last season.
He handed in a transfer request, then changed his mind the next day. He's not going anywhere for a while after his behaviour last summer, I get the impression.
Silly, silly rumour. It's simply not happening.
I would rather take De Rossi. Gerard may not suit the serie a. Besides, he'll be a lot more expensive. De Rossi is my pick
Gerrard would fit very well in any league.

show me one British player who has a great career outside UK? Even the great Ian Rush turned out to be a bust in Serie A.
Gerrard is a great player but I wouldnt overpay for him. He is not worth that much.

I agree. This is another stupid, stupid topic that everyone is wasting their time talking about. Kaka isn't leaving Milan. Gerrard isn't leaving Liverpool. And even if Gerrard were leaving, Milan would be stupid to pay what Liverpool would want for him. Chelsea supposedly offered them way, way more than he's worth last year and that was when he had decided to leave. Now he's under a long term contract. Do any of you really think that Liverpool will let him go for what he's really worth and not what they think he's worth? The whole idea is just silly.
By the way, Ian Rush had one of the great quotes after he left Italy and returned to Liverpool. He said he just couldn't settle in Serie A. It was like playing in a foreign country. :diablo:
i bet the discussion will now turn to whether gerrard is able to play in italy... which has happened in half the threads that have been started whether or not they are about him or about england or liverpool...
i like gerrard but if were gonna spend that kind of money then i would rather go for Diarra!!

well, at least he got one thing right :devf:
i agree with mk, if this kind of money has to go, I'd rather see it spent on Diarra.
aldough Gerrard is a brilliant player that I would like to see in Milan, we can sign Diarra and Gourcuff for that money, maybe even + oddo.

Gerrard to Milan, thats a good deal.
Will he is another question?
Personally, I don't want him to b/c it is rare for a superstar to spend their whole career at one club and Gerrard can do that, and thats what I hope he does.
But would not mind having him, maybe Gerrard will realise Liverpool can never beat Chelsea and move to Milan than Diarra will also come.

Gerrard wont leave Liverpool and we dont need a player like him. If we were really looking to spend on midfield, we should look no further. Diarra is available for ~25m.
Unlikely to happen. But I wouldnt complain too much if it did :) Gerrard is a great player. He can improve any team.
