Clarence Seedorf is being linked with a San Siro exit after some exceptional years of service.

The Dutchman is reportedly an Arsenal target after they lost Robert Pires to Spanish outfit Villarreal last week.

That sounds like very positive news to me, 'cause it can mean another major and NECESSARY step on the reshapement of our squad... since we don't get another old timer on a free transfer as a sub for him, of course...! :diablo:

seems to have lost some motivation in recent years. perhaps it would be a good thing if we parted company.

Well, it's a damn fine overwhelmingly POWERFUL midfield, but I guess it's only a dream... but look at a more realistic but also cool midfield:

De Rossi, Pirlo, Sneijder, Kaká.

or diarra-sneijder-pirlo-kaka. that way I can see Pirlo on the bench.. :) We sold Stam to Ajax, and we could now buy Diarra with Shevas money. this could be real.

Another extraordinary formation, certainly.

Only thing is: Sneijder is everything but a defensive midfielder, and Pirlo will be given a less defensive role next season... Will Diarra be enough to fill up all the gaps ? Not quite sure... Even Gattuso would have difficulties doing it on his own ! ;)

I would only want Seedorf to go for two reasons:

1) We have a better player than him in the bag and ready to go straight into the starting 11

2) We've been offered a good price for him.

For a while now i've thought that maybe Seedorf will go back to Ajax and follow Stam and Davids there, so maybe a swap between Seedorf and Sneijder isn't too far off the mark ??

Dr Milano

No i think seedorf should stay best midfield

While this story probably has no truth in it whatsoever, lets look at this hypothetically. Firstly Seedorf is a serial traveller, he's always moving between clubs and the chances of him staying with us until he retires are slim. Secondly he's approaching 30 now and if a good amount was offered i would take it. Thirdly he had a poor season by his standards, or at least he wasn't as sharp as before so i think if a better player were to be purchased, could Seedorf handle a role on the bench ? Finally, while he is still a valued player in the market, we can use him in other transfers.

Just a few thoughts.

mrki
30-05-2006, 17:55
or maybe we can use MArek on his natural position which is LM. and play
----------pirlo-------
--diarra-------jankulovski---
--------kaka--------

I think Pirlo will stay in Dm position becouse that is the only position he cant play, he can penetrate enough for a RM or LM, his passing and his wiew of the game is his power. Carlo wants another midfielder that can pass well so teams cant just man mark Pirlo like Barca did.

ARIO

mrki.... i like your formation. in that case, Pirlo and Diarra can oftenly swap position

nefremo

-------Pirlo----
Gattuso---Diarra
----Kaka--------

It is impressive. If Vogel and Ambro stay and if it is true that we netted Coppola then the midfield will be set with only a Kaka sub to be found. Ofcourse I am talking as if we already have Diarra. :D Gerrard would be even better but I am really having a hard time biting into that one. I also don't know about Seedorf leaving as everything has been fine between him and Milan so far. I wouldn't be happy if he left unless we sign Diarra or Gerrard. I think Sneijder is still behind these two and I am not confident with him taking over Seedorf's spot.

By the way......What's with Stam's transfer? How much did we get from that....if anything? Does anyone know?

GRE-NO-LI

De Rossi / Pirlo / Sneijder / Kaká

That's the midfield I want for 2006/2007 season.

Sneijder is not better than Seedorf atm. If Seedorf leaves, I will consider it a huge loss, maybe even bigger than Sheva's because he is so important in our tactical setup.. his characteristics actually defined parts of our formation, and the way we play.. I really hope we hang on to Seedorf, at least for 1 more season.. Sneijder can be a good addition if he is added this year, but it is unrealistic to say that if we get him he will get into the starting 11.

My biggest worry now is not finding a replacement for Sheva, but something bigger. Im worried Kaka might be actually tempted to leave. I am a pessimist, and I hope im wrong as usual.

Sneijder can easily sub Seedorf, don't worry about that.

Thats what scares me to , if kaka leaves then its time to say good bye ucl and scudetto for 2 more years

Why would Kaka be tempted to leave? Just because of Shevchenko's stupidity and greed? Kaka knows that at least 2 big players are coming this summer plus a couple of solid back ups. I have the biggest feeling that with Sheva's transfer money + Berlusconi's commitment to the club we will definatelly have a stronger squad next year.
Take it easy people. The transfer window hasn't even started.

Ambro could go.. did you see that shot he missed against Barcelona :| And I agree that the midfield needs revamping.. and Pirlo needs some energy pills. Some young prospects are the way to go imo.

Seedorf's best years belong to the past. He gave everything he had for Milan but I believe it is time for him to go.

Id love to see a midfield with Gerrard Pirlo Kaka and Gattuso (or Vieira/Emerson if Juventus gets relegated)

GRE-NO-LI

Vieira / Emerson? No, no, no.... Emerson is a not a footballer, but a gladiator, and Vieira is a great player, but very old...

Gerrard isn't coming... that is highly unlikely so don't even get your hopes up.

Guys, i think the best replacement for Seedorf if he ever leaves is De Rossi. Sneijder will not be able to handle the defensive aspect. He's more of an attacking midfielder. De Rossi is young and i think he will do more than replace Seedorf. I guess Seedorf will go for a good price. He didn't do too bad last season. But he only shines in the big games. He tends to slack in most of our games.

The player Milan should have went after was Ballack but the milan management is so niave that they let this opportunity pass by them and it was the perfect opportunity for us as he was leaving for free. IMO Ballack is a better player than seedorf and would have fitted in well really well with likes of pirlo and kaka. Once again the milan management let anotrher great player join a rival club. One word defines the management we have STUPID.

Sorry Hunk, but that word that you think defines our management defines your last post. Ballack was never going anywhere else other than Chelsea, why ? Money ! I think the deal he signed was worth nearly £10 million for his 3 or 4 years, or something similarly ridiculous ... so i'd hardly call that a free transfer. Plus, wouldn't you rather see a younger, hungrier player play for our team than someone just looking to cash his cheques ? I know i would.

Ballack wouldn't have been able to coexist easily with Kaka.

In all honesty, if a good offer came in for Seedorf, I'd be tempted to take it. He's always inconsistent in any case; I'd like to see cash invested in younger talent.

We soldsheva, rui and stam at the beggining of the transfer market. And now we have anough time and money to simply BUy some quality players. we'll need AM as a Kaka sub, RB, CD, DM and a CF. that is 5 qualoty players. that is much but we simply NEED to di it.

anda bout seedorf, he and pirlo cant play together anymore. Few years earlyer Seedorf was a defensive monster along with the creative force. Now he cant defend, and with Pirlo that cant do well, anything, we do need tougher or faster player on seedorf's position. Gerrard maybe.. :)

The ideal option as I see it would be Baptista

Jim ofcourse i want someone who is younger and that is not only looking for cash. But the ones that are available right now which would easlily replace seedorf are just too "expensive for milan" . I said ballack because thats what the milan management look for, free and experienced. But if they want someone who is hungry for success and not all about cash then they got to spend big which i really dont see milan doing, always coming out and saying they r too expensive for milan pfff plzz wake up to urself galliani.

ASHWIN

The solution: De Rossi

Young, hungry and someone who can fit into our system perfectly.

Lord_Tawreser

ASHWIN: De Rossi is not a winger! Finding a Seedorf sub might not be any easier than finding a Shewa sub. Naaah, solution Ambro.

ASHWIN
01-06-2006, 07:24
U mean Seedorf is a winger? Wow, i didn't know. I always thought he was a central midfielder along Gattuso and Pirlo. Then i guess i'm wrong.

Lord_Tawreser
01-06-2006, 07:40
Depends on how you look at the Milan formation though, I think of it as a square - diamond shape, which puts both Gattuso and Seedorf at the flanks (as wide as the full backs in defense), making them both wingers. True, neither Seedorf or Gattuso are typical wingers but De Rossi is more suited to replace Pirlo than he is to replace Seedorf.
Well, anyway I suggested Massimo, I remember seing him play once in Seedorfs place, I'm not sure if it was a CL match or a Serie A derby about a year and a half ago and I was astonished how well he played.

about gerrard coming here i don't think this thing can happen
if Milan buy him .. they never could find a good replace for Sheva

I think Gourcuff could be more a replacement for Seedorf, than a sub for Kaka'... after the first year maybe

meazza
02-06-2006, 14:15
back to Seedorf, I think this would be a good idea. Not because he's a bad player and wouldn't be good to have in the squad, I just think that with Sheva leaving we have to revamp the side, accept this is going to be a transition period and change some of the longer serving players about.

Here begins a new milan, lets clear out some dead wood.

Sneijder for Gattuso... Gourcuff for Seedorf... and some energy drinks for pirlo :) and our midfield is happy.
