Unsettled Everton winger Andy van der Meyde is seeking to leave the club and return to Italy.

The Dutch star has been plagued with injuries since his £5m move from Inter Milan in August 2005 and has failed to live up to his exciting reputation.

He was also omitted from Holland's World Cup squad after previously being a regular and told the Sunday Mirror he wants a move back to Serie A.

"I am sorry to have quit Italian football and Inter," he said.

AC Milan and Juventus have already been contacted by Van der Meyde's advisers and he is hopeful a deal can be finalised before the start of the new season.

The player added: "I wanted to earn a place in the World Cup squad but I only played 10 games in the Premiership because of injuries."

No doubt that it would be a good prospect. The best part of his deal would be his price. It will be very low. Then we have a history of making inter drop-outs shine :haha: so, I think we should get him.

Tactically, we know that on the right side cafu can't move up and down faster anymore so getting him will certainly impove our right flank. He can be also used as a second striker.

Don't worry about his injuries. Milanello is probably the best fitness and development center for a footballer. He will be hungry to prove his success but at the same time he will be calm and attentive because of his injuries. We should get him because he will fit in our team well and of course, isn't that expensive either.

No thanks. This guy is not very good to begin with + he has serious physical problems + he always injured + he hates to play defense when the other team has the ball -- he even said so himself! He's just not for our team.

he was one of the best prospects of Ajax. Maybe he could be usefull as we dont have any class RW in our team.

I agree.. we need some help on that right side. Whether he is the answer is another question.

He was poor for Everton, yes he was often injured but when fit he couldnt force his way into the team ahead of Arteta and Cahill. Im not sure what Spurs would charge for Aaron Lennon but he is the best young winger in the Prem at the moment. For those of you who havent seen him he is similar in style to Robben (though not yet as goodas he's only 19), one on one he's near impossible to stop...

I can't believe people are actually considering him here. He is definately not the answer for us. If you want a wide right player buy Castelan, Maxi Rodriguez, Giuly ... even Wilhelmsson is a better player.

I also don't understand in this day and age why people still think we need wingers when we don't play a formation with wingers !

If we played 4-3-3 or 4-4-2, then i can understand it, but we don't. A normal winger is far too lightweight to play in our midfield (which isn't that aggressive to start with). So unless you've managed to persuade Berlusconi to play a winger off of 1 striker ... OR ... we've changed formation, we don't need wingers !

We have Foggia who plays on the right don't we?

New AC Milan signing Paolo Foggia could be loaned to Serie B Napoli this coming season.
"Milan want to keep me and I'll go to their summer training camp, but then I'll evaluate my position and any possible loan spells," he told napolimagazine.it.

"To play for my home town club would be a wonderful thing and I'm happy my old teammate Maurizio Domizzi has also gone to Napoli. The San Paolo would be a dream for me."

I know we have done well with Inter reclamation projects, turning underachievers into stars (Pirlo and Seedorf), but I would seriously consider another direction. Reading some of the opinions here, made me go back and look at our transfer policy over the last 7-8 yrs. We have signed wonderful players over the past few years, but too many times we become cheap and talk about inhibiting price tags as if we were Brescia. We are the 3rd richest club according to Deloitte and Touche's annual survey and we should act like the strongest club in the world like I know we are. No more chances on spaniards like Jose Mari, Javi Moreno, or players like Pablo Garcia, Cosmin Contra, Martin Laursen, and Julio Cesar. I trust the team's management but if we have a chance to land a great player, and there really aren't that many out there, then Uncle Silvio should shell out the cash!!!! Chelski signed an about to be 30 yr old Sheva for 50 million. We shouldn't be so reckless, but still let's not act like beggars.

Welcome ramo

The highlight of this season should that by 31 of Dec 2006 our books will be balanced even without counting sheva's sale price, which is some thing unheard of among big clubs. Hence, I beleive that we haven't spent big (except 18mn on Gila)

Abt Chelski, some facts:

-In the beggining of 2003 when abramobitch took over, Chelski's debt was cleared

-Chelsea's wild spending on transfer fees is over after making a record pre-tax loss for last year of £88m.

-The club spent £175m on new players last season (04-05), more than doubling its annual payroll to £115m.

-This year, they have already spent £100m on Bollocks, Sheva, Kalou and Obi-Mikel (incl. their salaries)

Do we want to be like them?

Now, its just a matter of time when Abramobitch will get tired of Chelski and leave them in a sh!thole!

Don't worry, I think we will bring in effective players to fill the gap sheva has created.

Honestly Rahul, I could care less if we balance our books or not. It is always a good thing if we aim to be financially responsible, but at what cost? If at the cost of signing great players and settling for free "has-beens", i'd rather we have a budget deficit every year. Besides, we are a PRIVATELY owned club. Silvio runs tons of profitable businesses. So what if AC Milan runs at a loss? He can easily subsidize the losses from his own pocket and from the profits of his other companies. In other words, even if Milan runs at a loss, it shouldnt be more than a drop in the water considering Silvio's other interests.

And i really think that we should explore new ways to make money, i.e. through marketing, business partners, sponsorships, etc.. THe bulk of income that clubs like Real Madrid or Man utd make is all from additional ventures.

Main thing now is come June 15, I am hoping that Silvio will provide us with the necessary injection of big names and young players---we really need a shot in the arm after finishing second the last two years, Istanbul, and losing sheva this summer!!!

Its esay for us fans to say that we don't give a damn about the books but our club's financial status is very important for its survival. Balancing of the books means that we will have more freedom in spending as we wouldn't be owing anyone.

In a organisation, there is no one such as an OWNER! Berlu hold highest share of Milan and it is not neccesary for him to go nuts like Abramobitch. Even if you say that we didn't buy good players but it took a bribed refrees and an unallowed goal for us to get knocked out! So overall, our performance was above par!

No offense dude, but you're wrong---factually wrong, that is. If you think Abramovich is spending lots of money now, then you have no idea how much berlusconi was spending in the early to mid 90s. At a time when most clubs did not have much financial muscle, we were spending like crazy. Our bench could have been the starting eleven for most teams in Europe. And believe me, no one gave a damn about balancing the books then. Our so called financial responsibility seems to have started since the Zaccheroni era and since silvio has been more pre-occupied with politics. So in terms of having a history of financial responsibility being very important for our survival and so on so forth---you are wrong. Not that balancing the books is not important, it is crucial, but to suggest that a club like Milan needs to do this to the point of survival is wrong.

Secondly, AC Milan is an organization, and we have an owner. His name is Silvio Berlusconi. No, he does not have maximum shares in the club. He OWNS the club. You are right. It is not necessary that he go nuts like Abramovich. But you cannot deny the FACT that Silvio owns this club. The fate of our club goes hand in hand with Silvio. If one day his business enterprise may collapse (god forbid),then Milan will also fall, ala Lazio and Parma. So in the end of the day, the players we buy, the direction we take is at the mercy of only one man, and luckily for us, he is berlusconi. This is why i dont give much of a damn about balancing books. I just want to see Silvio put his heart and soul back into this club. I want to see us being invincible again, like in the late 80s early 90s.

Yes but this club is just his play thing as Chelsea is roman's. Berlu bought the club spent the money made it invicible and won everything. and just like a kid threw it down and found another toy.

chelsea will go the same way.
