View Full Version : All pre-season friendlies
So here we go again. Now that the hyperbole of the World Cup has blown away and the result of the trial is known, we can now look forward to our pre-season friendlies.
As usual i'm sure we're touring the states, playing a few games against the locals and whoever else maybe around at the time.
So here's a thread to post all about these games, reports, views, ideas, summaries, etc, etc.
The first thing to do would be to post a list of all the friendlies we have arranged, i don't have this information to hand so maybe someone else can get the ball rolling.

It is LECCO, not Lecce. Lecco plays in de Serie C 2 in Italia!!

A.C. Milan and U.C. Sampdoria have confirmed that due to the Rossoneri’s participation in the Champions League third round preliminary stage, the Seat Trophy match on August 5 has been cancelled. A.C. Milan also communicate that the game against Lecco on Saturday, July 29 has also been cancelled for the same reason.

FINE PRIMO TEMPO: LECCO-MILAN 0-1, GOL DI INZAGHI
02/08/2006

Finished! Milan wins it 2-0... goals by Inzaghi and Borriello...

I think that the result isnt importent but the experiment of Anceloti in the defence gives us a clue about the line up againt Belgrad next week. We will play without Maldini , Nesta ,Kaladze and Bonera (suspendeed from one europian game) , so our defence will look very strange. Carlo lined up Brochi as a right back and Favali and Bily at the center while Jankulovski played at the left wing. I beliave that Favalli at the center its realy big mistake because he never played there. about Brochi at the right , ithimk that it an intresting gamble by carlo but it might work because Christian familiar with the defensive job. Gourcuff got great compliments and it was realy great to see Max coming back from injury (in my opinion he spouse to be to be our 12 player).

I thought about that too but we didn't have our main defensive players plus Kaka, and Pirlo. But we need to get people in soon so we can integrate them to the team fast! Maybe some are waiting how we get through with Crvena Zvezda, but I know we'll eliminate them!

Ooops, my bad :grinser:

I hope not. between the end of the 2nd qualifier and the dealine for registering players for CL group stage - Sept 1st - there are only 7-8 days and that's hardly enough to finalize several transfers, especially if we indeed aim at players like Diarra, Torres/Ibra/Tevez, let alone a transfer like Dinho's.
My guess is that between the two legs of the 3rd qualif round we'll sign either Oddo or another attacking RB and there will be probably some clarty regarding Gallas' situation or at least we would make it clear if we are gonna be going after another CD. Also, at least one big move - again, provided that we intend doing one - will have to be made 'cause if we leave it all for after the qualifiers, there won't be enough time.
Maybe this weekend's game against Atletico Madrid will provide Berlusconi the chance to run the rule over Torres.
Atletico have made some good signings so far, this will be a really really tough test for us.

As Bosniaco said, Milan, Inter and Juve are playing the TIM Trophy on 31st of August.
As for the Berlusconi Trophy, I believe it's been cancelled for this year and it is usually held by 17-18th of August but this year that won't be the case.

with a full strength squad in a meaningful game, I doubt it. It's true that our record vs them isn't exactly stellar but all those games were either when Milan had already qualified for the post group stage of Cl or when we thought we had done the job in Milan and went to La Corunha on a vacation and dig our own grave.

FRIENDLY: VARESE-MILAN ON SEPTEMBER 4
8/29/2006
MILAN - Milan will play Varese on Monday September 4 at 18.00 at ’Franco Ossola’ stadium in Varese. Proceeds will go to the Milan Foundation.
From my research (-cough- Wikipedia), they are a Serie C2 team in Lombardy, are controlled by former Milan player Riccardo Sogliano, and they have rather nasty fans.
Hey did anyone see Brazil-Argentina game? Brazil won 3-0!
:gonova: Kaka scored a goal!!! :gonova:
From a cleared Argentina corner, Kaka makes a long run by himself, outrunning 3 defenders and scores an amazing goal! He came in as a sub and in a little over 5 min of coming on, started the play for the 2nd Brazil goal, making the final pass to Elano who scored. Sobis came in 88'.
The game was very entertaining and both sides played well. Argentina had their chances. Riquelme was brilliant and Messi showed his good pace.

tbh, Argentina didn't impress me at all today, I thought they were pretty poor overall, but Brazil did very well, and Kaka was superb.
Yup! No Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Cafu, Emerson, Roberto Carlos ... Plenty young Brazilians with potential for the national team.
I wonder why Sorin wasn't with Argentina today though.

MILANELLO - Below is the team to face Varese in tomorrow’s friendly:
MILAN (4-4-2): Dida; Bonera, Nesta, Maldini, Favalli; Cafu, Brocchi, Seedorf, Serginho; Borriello, Ricardo Oliveira.
Five defenders? Is Cafu playing MF?
looks like Cafu will be a winger, which leads to the question, WHY DID WE LOAN OUT A GREAT WINGER CALLED FOGGIA??? im sure we could sometimes use 4-4-2 with jankulovski-foggia as wingers, but now we cant....
4-4-2 looks the obvious choice.
With that line up it does make you wonder when Jankulovski might actually play for us.

aRE YOU REALLY the man who likes the crocodile in tv????? :u56:
we shouldnt play seedorf that much, unless he wants to for his fitness. the season will be very long.
I think it's and experiment to practice the closing stage of the game situation.
I remember last season Simic played a lot of theese friendlies (he said in the media it's his goal to play in 30 competitive games this season) but almost didn't play in any later.
Soo..
-----Boriello-------Oliveira
----Serginho-----------Brocci
-------------Seedorf
Favalli-----------------------Cafu
-------Maldini Nesta Bonera
---------------Dida
I see a Maldini-Favali, Nesta-Bonera, Seedorf-Brocci partnerships, Serginho and Cafu as wingers and the two strikers.
I know Foggia could've stayed but it was probably after him to see if he would stay and play in five games the whole season, or.....could've stayed!

Yeah we did 2-0  against Lecco which is also C2-A I think. But we even had Gattuso and Ambrosini in the midfield for that game. Thank God for Seedorf with 3 min. left on the game. I wonder how Costacurta was in the MF, with Carlo you never know since Vogel is gone ... But maybe if he does enough errors in CB then maybe he'll put him somewhere else. I don't know :u56: Maybe put him there if our MF's get the bug. I think this friendlies help in seeing how we can add depth to the team.
