This thread is for talk of the Mighty Blues.. aka Chelski to other fans..
If you wana talk about the Chelsea team, transfers or even wana have a go at us i guess (but of course there shouldn't be many of these people) ;) haha
Anyway this is the place to talk about Chelsea.
Apperently next week we're signing Ashley Cole, World class left back (We've always had problems in this position) and today we had our new Home kit unvieled.

ashley cole no way ... why would he switch from arsenal to chelsea ...
because he's not on the best of terms with Wenger and he feels that Arsenal betrayed him.
plus chelsea will probably offer him mega bucks

Jose Mourinho is a pure genious. Who would be capable of knowing that Ballack, Shevchenko and maybe A.Cole would improve a team. He really should be up there with the likes of Wenger and Fergie for his shrewed transfer activities. Wenger has probably spent less in his time at Arsenal (8 years I think) than Mourinho has spent on Shevchenko and Drogba alone. And let's not forget how quickly Chelsea become interested in every United or Arsenal target. Robben, Ballack, Essien, Duff and Mikel to name a few. Mourinho needs guidance from inferior managers such as Fergie and Wenger which amazes me considering he is supposed to be a great manager.
Thanks for giving us £16 Million for Mikel. He never even played for us and we got a nice tidy sum. A season on the bench at Stamford Bridge will be just what the doctor ordered for Mikel then if he's lucky he will go on loan for a season before moving to a crap team for good. Clever boy choosing Chelsea when he could have made it at United. Mourinho promised him he would play regular too and that has to be one of the funniest things I have ever heard. Mourinho wrecked his career just to stop him playing for United.

Well according to ALL the press over the last month they've said it's basicly a done deal. But saying that i'm not going to comment on him again playing for Chelsea untill he actually signs. I remember what happened with Steven Gerrard. He actually said he was leaving for us, and then had a U turn in the last minute!
So anything can happen in Football as we all know....

great statement... but in order to have a great team you need great players....
to have a great team, its all about building up from a youth, finding good talent... i.e. kaka, gila...
chelsea on the other hand splash out millions on players who are already world class...i.e. sheva
its pathetic. its true money talks.
chelsea prediction aint gettin anywhere next season, man utd will win title, arsneal second and chelsea will only get to quarter final of CL where they meet milano and kaka scores hat trick! :510: :haha:
then from there we'll win it :p283:

When Mourinho first came here and he was wearing that big coat in the winter, my dad thought it was a second hand charity coat that he was wearing to raise awareness for charities etc. When i told him it was worth about £3000, he couldn't believe it, he said it made Mourinho look like a tramp ! :D

hmmmm are you a scouscer dont take that offensive by the way im a scaly ... i enjoyed it when
Ferdinand scored against you ... that was awesome cant wait till you meet Man U and they beat you bad
I just don't think Liverpool is on the same level of any of the top teams in Europe. While I heartily congraduated their success 2 years before in CL, I consider it as a mere fluke. Having said, though, I still have great respect for Liverpool who has won 5 CL in history.
If I had to pick a team in the EPL to support, it would definetely be Liverpool. They are by far the classiest team in England. Even though I hate the SOBs for beating us in Istanbul and causing one of the worst days of my life, I admire their fighting, never give up spirit shown in both that CL Final and the FA Cup final.

No, i'm not a scouser Dr M. Shame you weren't good enough to beat us in the F.A. Cup :D
Jeff, why was their CL win a 'mere fluke' ? People say the same about our win in 2003 against Juve and what about how we've scraped past teams in the semi finals against Inter, Ajax and PSV ? They can all be considered flukes. Are the times we've been beaten flukes also ? The times when we've capitulated and got beat by Deportivo and Barca ? You can't just label a particular match a fluke because the result didn't go the way you wanted.
I'm not going to take over this Chelsea thread by talking about Liverpool too much, so i'll just say that they have quality, can pass the ball as good as anyone at times and have done well on a tight budget. They're not the best, they're not at the top but they've been getting results, which in the end is all that counts.

Far from it, Jim, far from it.
I consider this game against Liverpool and PSVl that are mere flukes.
Winning against Juve is no luck; the situation is very similar to the one we have seen in the world cup when Italy played against France; only that both have scored a goal each instead of 0-0. I think both teams fight until the end and thankfully the better team won. Had Juventus done it, they deserved it too and it's no mere luck.
Yes I agree that winning against PSV is very very lucky.
The game against Inter: Milan was seriously seldom troubled by INter attack until Costacurta kicked the ball backward and we all knew what Martin did. Overall, Milan's defense against INter was almost perfect. No luck involved. Perhaps the only luck is the rule that we won on away goal; but in my humble opinion Milan put in a much more convincing performance than the headless Inter.
Against Ajax always give me the emotion; you can say that Milan is lucky but at the same time it's not. Inzaghi (and the rest of the team) fought really hard until the very end. This game differs from the one liverpool played against Milan, or so it seemed: Milan was fighting for 90 minutes to get the result; while LIverpool fought for 6 minutes to get the equalizer and 114 minutes to defend the draw. I hope there is a clear distinction there.
Against Depo I didn't watch the match at all, so I wouldn't comment.
Sadly, we are thoroughly beaten by Barca.
A word before I turn to the final against Liverpool: I don't know where you get the contention that winning PSV or Ajax or Inter shall be considered mere fluke or losing to Depo is a sheer bad of luck. You have come up with these arguments and I try to counter each of this match, except perhaps the game against Depo which I didn't watch.
Now why against Liverpool is a mere fluke: 1) Milan is sleeping for 6 minutes, and get punished by 3 goals. You don't see this happen very often in football; in fact, I don't see it happen at all for so long in my life in one of the top games in history. I can tell you that Real Madrid probably fell asleep for 45 minutes while there was still no goal. Of course one may imagine that LIverpool has the fighting period; but if you re-watched the game again as I did, you'll realize that Liverpool does NOT really have that. They don't have the winning mentality. Why? I'll tell you again in latter point.
2) If Milan is sleeping for 6 minutes, then they have been attacking for 114 minutes. This has 2 significance: 1) It can be inferred that Milan is not really sleeping for that 6 minutes. If your team collapsed for 6 minutes and conceded 3 goals, do you still expect them to attack the opponent (who just scored 3 goals). IT doesn't sound likely; it sounds more like the case that liverpool should have killed Milan in regular time: 4-3 or 5-3 or something. But it didn't. 2) What can you tell about LIverpool's mentality? THat's right. They come here for a draw. From the very first minute. Once they got 3-3, what did they do? I try to tell myself that I"m only consoling myself but that's not the case; Liverpool has seldom troubled Milan at all during the game except for the 6 minutes, just to be plain honest.
3) As expected, during half time I told my friend that Liverpool will now throw in high ball in the hope that someone will get it. That's how the first goal is scored. That's fine; no luck. The second goal you got everyone napping and Dida making a blunder; ok no luck. Then you got a penalty (because Gattuso was punished for whatever the reason is), GOT SAVED, and scored again. The ball, upon being saved, went RIGHT INTO the foot of the penalty taker; it could have gone to row Z, behind, or any other place, but it went RIGHT INTO the foot of the penalty taker.
Of course, I'm not saying that luck is not important. It is important, and luck is sometimes with you; sometimes against you. It's hugely disappointing, of course, but this is how a one-league game supposed to be. And by winning in that way, Liverpool has succeeded in coming back from 3-0 deficit; what people don't see is that they did exactly what the newspaper condemned italian football: that is, defensive football.
It's interesting how people say Italian play defensive football which, in the end, it's the team that defends for 114 minutes that won.
And to this, I will discard whatever we have discussed here, since this is a Chelsea thread.

hey jim you guys are lucky matey ... i knew you were going to mention the fa cup though lol in the game i was actually supporting liverpool i dont like man u but know im starting to like man u more than you guys and no the champo league isnt the reason its just ive seen many ignorant fans
Why is it everytime Liverpool win it's down to luck or a fluke, but when the other team wins it's because they're a better team. I think people who consistently use this excuse are the ignorant ones Dr M.
I guess its me and Jamie vs. the world here. Just because Liverpool doesn't win convincingly or beuatifully doesn't mean they don't deserve to win. They are scrappy. They take their opprtunities when they come and they don't allow the opposition to get many opportunities. A good team needs to do that too. I will be rooting for Liverpool to finally topple Chelski and win the EPL.
maybe I didn't watch enough of Liverpool game; but when you lose in a friendly 5-0 (and then of course beating another with 4-1) then I don't think they are 'that' consistent. And, if they are really that consistent, I think thye'll be closer to Chelsea at the top of the table. Instead....
Anyway, back to the topic.
Chelsea beat Feyenoord 1-0 yesterday. Lampard scored. Pierre Van Hoyjdonk (sp?) hit the post in the last minute.

Jeff, as a Utd fan i dont really want to defend Liverpool ;) but in the 5-0 defeat from what i've read last week they were 0-0 at half time while fielding a strong XI, before making 7 changes and conceding 5 in the second half. Any side making that number of changes is never going to stay consistent against half decent opposition.
Dr M i didn't think you were being ignorant at all :)
Like i said, the only people who i find ignorant are the ones who use the argument of being lucky all the time. No matter what you say to them, they'll reply 'oh, you were just lucky'. Constantly again and again, those are the ignorant ones.

We're looking sharper now. I'm saying this to take the michael ok. But Sheva seems to have good vision aswel a good goal threat doesn't he. He should be very useful with this sbility and we should see him near the top of the assit tables if he does this consistantly.
You guys have obviously seen Shev play more then me, but is he a very good team player, who has a good vision in the last 3rd of the pitch or what?

Jim_UK: I have already stated when are the situations when I consider lucky and when is not in previous post. While I hate admitting it, football involves luck; I hope that I never give you (and the rest of the reader) that when Milan loses, it's always unlucky, or when Milan wins, it's always skill. If you have gotten this dichotomous thinking because of my poor explanation, I apologise.
God is fair, but not so fair. How I dream about the Chelsea owner has decided to buy Sheffield Wednesday instead of Chelsea. But it never happens. Isn't it luck in the first place that Chelsea got such an owner, got a turn of fortune all of a sudden? Other explanations can of course be put forth, an certain explain, but after many expereince of success and failure on my own, I realize that timing is important; and timing always come with luck. Sometimes you are lucky, sometimes you are not. It depends on whether you are ready to take the chance when the timing has come. To me, they compromise. But, luck plays the major role sometimes.
My conclusion: Harsh Reality.

it was so sad they missed out last year on the cl position. haha
But Spurs' limited budget is bigger than most clubs because of their Scandanavian backers. They're not mega rich but they have quite a bit of money to splash around.
it was so sad they missed out last year on the cl position. haha
more sad, I think they will miss this year too, even they have Shevchenko and Ballack:D.
I haven't ever thought Mourinho is a good coach. I extremely hate the way he talks and his tactic <defend, defend, bite 1 goal, defend, defend and wait to bite if they can:D, full time>. I hate most of chelsea squad, except for Cech:D.

After Shevchenko went to London, I don't call him Sheva apart from talking about the past:D but I think Shevchenko will success in Premier League because English football has much space and high speed. yes... Spurs' budget is bigger than most other clubs... but they do have a limit on wages & money for transfers... plus they also spend wisely... remember... it's the same team that bought Carrick ages ago for under 3 million & sold him off for about 18 million... likewise you do not see them fork out 6 million for Chimbonda when they could... not to mention they rejuvenated the careers of Robbie Keane... seeing the way you <Jeff, Supreme> said after my post makes me assume that you think I like Shevchenko <I mean English learner:D>. I don't like him any more. In fact, I only started to like him because he was playing well for Milan. But I still hope he will success in Premier League <just Premier League>.
You'd be surprised Jeff, i think there is alot more interest in him than there appears.
The only Chelsea things i really like are Dennis Wise & Gustavo Poyet as these two are the new coaches of my home town football club. So far we've won 3 out of 3, but we are in league 2 ... so the standard isn't great :D
(For those not knowing the league structure it goes Premiership, Championship, League 1, League 2, Conference).
We may also have Paul Ince coming on as coach too, they may be old but a midfield of Wise & Ince would be great for us for a few games.
Like i said, this is the only affiliation i have with Chelsea :D
In the glorified friendly that is the Charity Shield, Liverpool won 2-1 against Chelsea.
Although slightly meaningless, it wasn't that friendly a game as Momo Sissoko rampaged through the entire Chelsea team tackling anything that moved ! At only 21 this guy is rapidly improving into one of the best defensive midfielders in the game. If Milan had someone like him, we'd be amazing.
Anyway, Chelsea weren't sharp enough due to less games and Liverpool were sharper due to more games, which makes sense.
It was painful to see Shevchenko in their team and then to see him score and hear all the pundits lap it up ... not to mention Abramovich jumping up and down when his new best mate scored for them, well done Roman, it's amazing what 3 years of tapping him up can do :fero:

i wanted chelsea to win today ... because of sheva i felt really really happy when he did score :dconf: but werent when he kissed the shirt ... Riise should be signed by milan lol WHAT A SHOT !!! WHAT A SHOT !!! Good Goal By Crouch Too
Hes Red And His Feet Stick Out Of His Bed :5roma:
Riise Goal would remain as one of my best goal i have ever seen in English Football, it's maradonesque goal, and it also reminds me of the Goal that Henry's Goal against Spud,
No Offense Kaka's new girl or any spud fan, IMO Spurs are most irritated team i have ever seen just like Juventus and Inter
Jamie, Sissoko is already becoming one of the best DM, he had a great game yesterday, What A Player!!!, he reminds me of Viera in his earlier years when he was playing for Arsenal.
Riise has scored some superb goals over the years, his left foot is like a hammer at times.
I agree with you about Sissoko Shomo. It's taken him a while to settle in, especially after he almost lost his sight last year, but since he came back he's been improving all the time. His passing, crossing, shooting still need improving which is natural when his game is more about the physical side of things. But the way he was just snapping up anything loose yesterday was fantastic ... even when the Chelsea player's had only slightly miss controlled the ball in midfield he was right in there.
This is why i'm more in favour of Milan getting a player like him to replace Seedorf. Someone like YaYa Toure, who's very similar in build but is better on the ball than Sissoko. For me it would just make our midfield so much more combative and aggressive.

I didnt think Riise's goal was as good as has been suggested, he ran far but was under no pressure at all and the shot should really have been saved by Cudicini ;)
I must admit im with Zlat on the whole Sheva issue too, it doesnt make much sense for him to have moved for money, its not as if Milan paid him peanuts  i do believe it was a number of things, pressure from his wife to raise their children in an English speaking environment and also his own desire for a new challenge. I dont feel angry at him for moving but i am dreading him turning up at Old Trafford wearing blue
I think when you watch it for the first time, either live or on the highlights you would get caught up in it and think it was a superb goal.
But you're right Stez, if you analyse it correctly everyone does back off him and i guess Cudicini should have saved it. Saying that though the ball does dip quite significantly and how many games does Cudicini get to play now-a-days ? On top form he would have stopped it, but only playing now and again makes you rusty.
Would still love to see him at Milan though.
